Design and Implementation of IMAP Server Supporting E-mail Address Internationalization(EAI) in a Mobile Environment (모바일 환경에서 다국어 전자 우편 주소 지원을 위한 IMAP 서버 설계 및 구현)

  • Due to the need for multilingual e-mail address, EAI Working Group of the IETF has created a wide range of standards associated with e-mail address internationalization(EAI) since 2006. One of the authors and colleagues designed and implemented the mail server, SMTPUTF8, that supports EAI RFC protocols. SMTPUTF8 mail server is composed of new SMTP and POP3 servers supporting EAI RFC protocols. However, SMTPUTF8 did not include a new IMAP server supporting EAI RFC protocol. Recently many people are using smart phones to read and send e-mail messages in a mobile environment. IMAP server is more useful than POP3 server in a mobile environment. Therefore, in this paper, the authors have designed and implemented IMAP server and client app that complies with the IMAP standard (RFC) published by EAI WG of IETF to support multilingual e-mail address. This IMAP server is added to the SMTPUTF8 mail server so that users can access e-mail messages via IMAP client app in a mobile environment.

  • The CORBA presents the method of integrating heterogeneous systems in the distributed environment. In recent, many existing information retrieval servers with Z19.50 protocol have been developed and used in the libraries and companies, etc. The servers construct each database and provide users with various information services. In this paper, we design and implement a Z39.50 server that supports various Z39.50 protocol services over the existing servers. We also integrate various database engines and the Z39.50 server using CORBA. Our Z39.50 server basically provides the init service, the search service, and the close service. In addition, it supports the scan service browsing a term list, the segment service presenting large records, and the explain facility explaining the implementation information of the server.

  • This paper discusses the design and implementation of a video server which uses tertiary device, such as magneto-optical jukebox or tape library, as a source of media archiving. In order to handle the tertiary device in the framework of disk-based stream service model, a sophisticated streaming model is required for server and it should consider the device-specific performance characteristics of tertiary storage. We have carefully designed the streaming mechanism for server whose key functionalities include stream scheduling, disk caching and admission control. The proposed system has been implemented on Windows 2000 platform which is equipped with a magneto-optical jukebox. The design principles of the server are validated with the experiments and the performance characteristics is analyzed.

  • Advanced Intelligent Network(AIN) and X.500 directory service have similarity in between. X.500 capabilities and the requirements for the Service Control Function(SCF) to Service Data Function(SDF) in AIN. As an interface, SCF can be mapping as a Directory User Agent(DUA) and SDF can be mapping as a Directory System Agent(DSA). Based on the concepts, X.500 directory can be applied to AIN. In this paper we suggest to apply the X.500 DSP to the SDF/SDF interface to perform a distribution function. Also we show that the SCF-SDF/SDF-SDF relationship can be possible under applying X.500 DAP/DSP within the set of Capability Set 1 (CS1),CS2 and CS3. Finally, based on the above contents, we introduce the designed schematic of AIN SDF Server System for a distributed processing in AIN and design the X.500 schema of Universal Personal Telecommunication(UPT) service for supporting AIN SDF Server.

  • The advancement of network & application technology causes a major change for the use of IT(Information Technology) equipment, including computer and mobile system. In the process from beginning with main frame in the 1960s and 70's, through the server-client paradigm in the 1980s and toward the development of network computer since 90's, computer systems are now evolutioning from isolated physical system to complementary network based virtual system[1][2]. In network based computer system, application and data required for operation are stored at not client as local system, but at server[1]. User can use application & data on a server as if those are on a local client, and a client is now toward a developing thin and network friendly system. In this paper, we discuss possible ways for the efficient implementation of thin-client. For the use of remote application & data as if in local environment, we make use of X protocol. Unlike formal simple Client - Server paradigm, we design a Proxy for middle-tier server for the improvement of QoS and session persistence. X server, Xvfb(X virtual frame buffer) are implemented on thin client and Server, respectively and we applied XSMP(X Session Management Protocol) to our framework for session management. In the end, beyond simple transfer of server display, we suggest thin client framework for the transfter of remote server application over internet.

  • In this paper, we present the design of modular replaceable AI server for image deep learning that separates the server from the Edge Device so as to drive the AI block and the method of data transmission and reception. The modular replaceable AI server for image deep learning can reduce the dependency between social robots and edge devices where the robot's platform will be operated to improve drive stability. When a user requests a function from an AI server for interaction with a social robot, modular functions can be used to return only the results. Modular functions in AI servers can be easily maintained and changed by each module by the server manager. Compared to existing server systems, modular replaceable AI servers produce more efficient performance in terms of server maintenance and scale differences in the programs performed. Through this, more diverse image deep learning can be included in robot scenarios that allow human-robot interaction, and more efficient performance can be achieved when applied to AI servers for image deep learning in addition to robot platforms.

  • Many issues about portability and extension of system converting and exchanging information using XML standard data are being studied currently. This paper proposes design using XML processing layer for mediation between client and server to solve the development cost problem for compatibility and extension of client/server environment. This maintains mediation role for programming development between client and server and increases extension of system and portability of hetero geneous environment. This paper implements and designs XML data processing system for EC using XML DB among hetrogeneous databases. We expect cost-down by maintenance of system using this architecture for electronic commerce.

  • This paper presents design of an advertising E-commerce (electronic commerce) serve. using push technology which provides clients with multimedia information such as text, audio and video according to their setting information. In the most of existing E-commerce system, users visit the web site in person, see and buy goods. In this paper we show the new E-commerce format: Clients select a field of advertisement of what they want to see on the browser, then EC server sends the clients moving advertisements at regular intervals. Subsequently, the users see advertisements and buy goods. The server of this system was designed using push server that saves moving advertisements in the database and sends the user-specific advertisements to users. The system designed in this study is very an active system contrary to existing passive E-commerce systems.

  • This paper describes the design of an asynchronous implementation of a sensor network processor. The main purpose of this work is the reduction of power consumption in sensor network node processors and the research presented here tries to explore the suitability of asynchronous circuits for this purpose. The Handshake Solutions toolkit is used to implement an asynchronous version of a sensor processor. The design is made compact, trading area and leakage power savings with dynamic power costs, targeting the typical sparse operating characteristics of sensor node processors. It is then compared with a synchronous version of the same processor. Both versions are then compared with existing commercial processors in terms of power consumption.

  • Today, mobile technology is developing very fast and people use internet through mobile phones. Using mobile phones, people use games, email, avatar and other services. We designed client/server modules in order to join email and avatar together. First two major server modules were designed, one of them is DB management module for avatar user information and the other is email management module. One the client side, we designed avatar image animation module and a module for showing the email contents. The purpose of the design is to reduce the performance overhead on the client side as mobile phones cannot be used as a high performance device. We propose and implement a new avatar based service using the SK-VM environment, that is different from the current avatar services.
