Experimental studies were done to research the clinical effects of Yongdamsagantang and Yongdamsagantang-gamibang (Yongdamsagantang with Lonicerae Flos and Forsythiae Fructusadded) on the Anti-allergic effect in rats and mice. The results obtained as follows; 1. In the effects of Yongdamsagantang and Yongdamsagantang-gamibang on vascular permeability responses to intradermal histamine in rats, Yongdamsagantang group revealed none significant affect, but Yongdamsagantang-gamibang group revealed significant effect. 2. In the effects of Yongdamsagantang and Yongdamsagantang-gamibang on vascular permeability responses to intradermal serotonin in rats, Yongdamsagantang and Yongdamsagantang-gamibang group revealed significant effect. 3. In the 48hrs homologous passive cutaneous anaphylaxis in rats provoked by the IgE-like antibody against egg albumin, Yongdamsagantang group revealed none significant effect, but Yongdamsagantang-gamibang group revealed significant effect. 4. In the delayed type hypersensitivity responses to Picryl Chloride in mice, Yongdamsagantang and Yongdamsagantang-gamibang group revealed none significant effect, in the delayed type hypersensitivity responses to SRBC in mice, Yongdamsagantang group revealed none significant effect, but Yongdamsagantang-gamibang group revealed significant effect. According to above-stated results, Yongdamsagantang is none significant Anti-allergic effect. But Yongdamsagantang-gamibang is concluded to be effective as immediated type hypersensitivity and recommended to be used for the treatment of allergic diseases. (Asthma, Allergic urticaria, Allergic rhinitis, etc.)

This Experimental study was done to investigate the effect of the Taklisodok-um on the Anti-allergic response. The results were obtained as follows: 1. On vascular permeability response to the intradermal injected Histamine, the Taklisodok-um treated group revealed more significant decrease than control group. 2. On vascular permeability response to the intradermal injected Serotonin, the Taklisodok-um treated group revealed more significant decrease than control group. 3. In the 48hrs homologous passive cutaneous anaphylaxis provoked by the IgE-like antibody against white egg albumin, there was no significant difference between the Taklisodok-um treated group and control group. 4. The Taklisodok-um treated group revealed more significant inhibitory effect than control group in the delayed type hypersensitivity response to Picryl chloride. 5. The Taklisodok-um treated group revealed more significant inhibitory effect than control group in the delayed type hypersensitivity response to SRBC. According to the above-stated results, it is considered that the Taklisodok-um could be applied widely to the type I and IV allergic diseases.

The results obtained as follows; 1. In the effects of Sipyungtang and Sipyungtang-gamibang on vascular permeability responses to intradermal Histamine, Sipyungtang group revealed none significant effect, but Sipyungtang-gamibang group revealed significant effect. 2. In the effects of sipyungtang and Sipyungtang-gamibang on vascular permeability responses to intradermal serotonin, Sipyungtang group revealed none significant effect, but Sipyungtang-gamibang group revealed significant effect. 3. In the 48hrs homologous passive cutaneous anaphylaxis provoked by the IgE-like antibody against egg white albumin, Sipyungtang and Sipyungtang-gamibang groups revealed none significant effect. 4. In the delayed type hypersensitivity responses to Picryl Chloride, Sipyungtang and Sipyungtang-gamibang groups revealed none significant effect. 5. In the delayed type hypersensitivity responses to SRBC, Sipyung-tang and Sipyungtang-gamibang groups revealed significant effect.

In the 48hrs homologous passive cutaneous amaphylaxis provoked by the IgE-like antibody against egg albumin, Juguieum and Juguieum-gamibang groups revealed significant effect. 4. In the delayed type hypersensitivity responses to Picryl Chloride, Juguieum and Juguieum-gamibang groups revealed significant effect. 5. In the delayed type hypersensitivity responses to SRBC, Juguieum group revealed significant effect, but Jugieum-gamibang group revealed none significant effect. According to above-stated results, Juguieum and Juguieum-gamibang are concluded to be effective as anti-allergic regimen and recommended to be used for the treatment of type I and type IV allergic disease.

Objectives : The purpose of the present study was to examine the effect of subacute treatment with the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors(paroxetine and sertraline) on immobility in the forced swim test(FST) and on FST-induced changes in immune parameters of the mice. Methods : Authors applied a modified method of FST by Porsolt et al. Over 5 BALB/c mice were used for each group of experiments. To explore the changes in immune parameters by FST, authors investigated the production of anti-rat RBC antibody, concanavalin A(ConA)- or lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-stimulated splenocytes proliferation assay and cytokine gene expression. Results : Both paroxetine and sertraline decreased the duration of immobility in a dose-related manner. FST-performed mice showed a significant decrease in mitogenic responses of splenocytes and a slight increasing tendency in anti-rat RBC antibody response. All these responses were attenuated significantly by paroxetine and attenuated nearly nominal significance level by sertraline. The cytokine profiles of ConA-stimulated splenocytes from FST-performed mice showed stronger expression of IL-4 and weaker expression of IL-2 than control mice, and no changes in the expressions of IFN-$\gamma$ and lymphotoxin. IL-6 and IL-10 were not expressed in both group of mice. The pretreatment of paroxetine and sertraline attenuated the altered cytokine expressions in FST-performed mice to some extent. Some alterations of the expressions of IL-6 and IL-10 were observed in the mice which the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors had been pretreated. Conclusion : The subacute treatment of paroxetine and sertraline attenuated the FST-induced behavioral and immune changes, and these serotonin reuptake inhibitors may exert some modulating effects on the immune system by the induction of cytokine gene expression, especially IL-6 and IL-10.

Experimental studies were done to research the effects of the Ursi fel and the UDCA on the anti-allergic effects. The results were obtained as follows: 1) In the experimental effects of the Ursi fel and the UDCA on the vascular permeability responses to intradermal Serotonin, though both of the Ursi fel and UDCA revealed the significant effect, the Ursi fel had stronger effect than the UDCA. 2) In the provocative effects of the Ursi fel and the UDCA on the vascular permeability responses to intradermal Histamin, though both of the Ursi powfel and UDCA showed the significant effect, the Ursi fel had moreerful effect than the UDCA. 3) In the 48 hours homologous passive cutaneous anaphylaxis provoked by the IgE-like antibody against white egg albumin, though both of the Ursi fel and UDCA revealed significant effect, the Ursi fel had stronger effect than the UDCA. 4) In the delayed type hypersensitivity response to Picryl Chlorede, though both of the Ursi fel and UDCA were proved to be effective significantly the Ursi fel showed stronger effect. 5) In the delayed type hypersensitivity responses to Sheep red blood cell, the Ursi fel revealed the significant effect, though the UDCA has no significant effect. According to above results, the Ursi fel was approved it could be used widely as antiallergic drug for immediate and delayed type allergic diseases. Although the UDCA revealed efficacy in immediated type allergic diseases, it had less powerful effects than the Ursi fel and it showed no effects in some experiment of delayed type allergy, so it would be difficult to be used clinically.

The object of this research is to find out the clinical effects of Sopungsan and Gamisopungsan on Immune response and the An1i-allergic reaction to rats and mice. The results obtained are as follows: 1. Both sopungsan and Gamisopungsan have a tendency to decrease on the delayed type hypersensitivity response in methotrexate treated mice, but are not recognized as having significance. 2. Both Sopungsan and Gamisopungsan reveal the increasing effects with significance on the hemagglution titer in mice. 3. Gamisopungsan reveals the increasing effect with significance on the hemolysin titer in mice. 4. Both Sopungsan and Gamisopungsan have a tendency to increase on the appearance of Rosette forming cells in mice, but are not recognized as having significance. 5. Both Sopungsan and Gamisopungsan reveal the increasing effects with significance on phagocytic index K and a in mice 6. Sopungsan reveals the decreasing effect, on the homologous passive cutaneous anaphylaxis in rats provoked by the IgE-like antibody aganist egg white albumin. 7. Gamisopungsan reveals the decreasing effect with significance on vascular permeabi1ity response to intradermal histamin in rats. 8. Sopungsan reveals the decreasing effect with significance, on vascular permeability response to intradermal serotonin in rats. 9. Both Sopungsan and Gamisopungsan reveal the decreasing effects with significance on the delayed type hypersensitivity response to picryl chloride in mice. 10. Both Sopungsan and Gamisopungsan reveal the decreasing effects with significance on the delayed type hypersensitivity response to sheep red blood cell in mice. According to the above results, Sopungsan and Gamisopungsan are concluded to have the increasing effect of immunity and anti-allergic reaction.

Yenhwagamchotang has been widely used in treatment of inflammatory disease which is based on Oriental Medical literatures. These studies were attempted experimental effects of Yenhwagamchotang(sample A), Yenhwagamchotang plus Forsythia koreana NAKAI.(sample B), and Yenhwa-gamchotang plus Taraxacum mongolicum HAND- MAZZ(sample C),on the Anti-allergic reaction, the antipyretic action,the anti-inflammatory and the analgesic action,in rats. THe results of the studies were as follow: 1. Vascular permeability responses to intradermal serotonin in rats were showed significant effect at all sample groups. 2. The homologous passive cutaneous anaphylaxis in rats provoked by the IgE-like antibody aganist egg white albumin showed the decreasing effect. 3. The delayed type hypersensitivity responses to picryl chloride in mice were showed significant effect at all sample groups. 4. The delayed type hypersensitivity response to sheep red blood cell in mice were showed significant effect at all sample groups. 5. In anti-pyretic effect by yeast method were showed significant effect at all sample groups. 6. The anti-inflammatory effect by carrageenin method were showed significant effect at all sample groups. 7. The analgesic action by acetic acid method in mice were showed significant effect at all sample groups. According to the above result, Yenhwagamchotang(sample A), Yenhwagamchotang plus Forsythia koreana NAKAI(sample B), AND yenhwagamchotang plus Taraxacum mongolicum HNAN- MAZZ.(sample C ) were concluded to have the anti-allergic reaction, the antipyretic action, the anti-inflammatory, the analgesic action.

Dopamine (DA) and serotonin (5-Hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) are neurotransmitters and hormones that exist in small amounts but have important role in the body. Serum and 24-hour urine are used as specimens, and are usually examined by HPLC-MS. In this study, we tried to detect DA and 5-HT by competitive ELISA using antigen-antibody (Ab) reaction. After immobilizing $5{\mu}g/mL$ BSA conjugate on a 96-well surface, hormone and primary Ab, which are respectively diluted to different concentrations, were treated. Then, HRP-conjugated secondary Ab and TMB were added to measure absorbance. The regression equation and $R^2$ value were calculated based on absorbance, and sensitivity of Ab to hormone as well as the correlation between hormone concentration and absorbance were determined. In DA ELISA, $R^2$, the correlation between the concentration of hormone and absorbance, was the highest by 0.91 when anti-dopamine Ab was diluted 6,000 times and 7,000 times. In 5-HT ELISA, $R^2$ was bigger than 0.90 in every concentration except 3,000 times and 6,000 times. Both DA and 5-HT were not effectively detected at low concentrations (less than $1.0{\times}10^{-7}M$); and because reference value of serum DA is lower than this, HPLC-MS was required to detect serum DA. However, competitive ELISA may be effective in detecting 24-hour urine DA, serum, and 24-hour 5-HT. Further studies are needed to detect hormones more accurately at lower concentrations.

Objectives In this study, we investigated the clinical effect of Imoyongsutang and Imoyongsutang plus Maduryong on the viscosity of mucin solution, the instantly type allergy, the delayed type allergy, the carbon clearance, the pulmonary thromboembolism for the lung damaged rats and mice. Methods The gastric mucin and incubation time, pulmonary thromboembolism induced by sodium arachidonic acid, the pulmonary thromboembolism induced by ADP, vascular permeability response, non inhibitory effects, the delayed type hypersensitivity response to picryl chloride, serum $Na^+$ level, $K^+$ and $Cl^-$ level, ${\alpha}-index$ in phagocytic activity were measured. Results 1. Both the solid extracts of Imoyongsutang and Imoyongsutang plus Maduryong gave some high significance results on the gastric mucin and incubation time on the viscosity of mucin solution in rats, and both groups had similar result. 2. Both the solid extracts of Imoyongsutang and Imoyongsutang plus Maduryong were revealed feeble effect on the pulmonary thromboembolism induced by sodium arachidonic acid in mice, and both groups had similar result. 3. Both the solid extracts of Imoyongsutang and Imoyongsutang plus Maduryong were revealed feeble effect on the pulmonary thromboembolism induced by ADP in mice, and after medication, the value was increased than the before one. 4. Both the solid extracts of Imoyongsutang and Imoyongsutang plus Maduryong were recognized. significance on vascular permeability response induced by histamine in rats. And the significance of the Imoyongsutang plus Maduryong is rather higher than that of Imoyongsutang. 5. The extract of Imoyongsutang recognized no significance symptoms on vascular permeability response induced by serotonin in rats, but the solid extract of Imoyongsutang plus Maduryong resulted recognized significance. 6. Both the solid extracts of Imoyongsutang and Imoyongsutang plus Maduryong were revealed non inhibitory effects on the 48 hour homologous PCA in rats provoked by the IgE-like antibody against the egg albumin. 7. Both the solid extracts of Imoyongsutang and Imoyongsutang plus Maduryong were remarkably revealed inhibitory effect on the delayed type hypersensitivity response to picryl chloride in mice. And the significance of the latter is rather higher than that of the former. 8. The solid extract of Imoyongsutang was revealed inhibitory eects on the delayed type hypersensitivity response to SRBC in mice, but thffe solid extract of Imoyongsutang plus Maduryong recognized significance. 9. The solid extract of Imoyongsutang was recognized significance on the lung TBA value of $O_3$ intoxicated rats, but the solid extract of Imoyongsutang plus Maduryong recognized no significance. 10. Both the solid extracts of Imoyongsutang and Imoyongsutang plus Maduryong was recognized significance on serum $Na^+$ level in $O_{3}-intoxicated$ rats. And the significance of the latter is rather higher than that of the former. 11. Both the solid extracts of Imoyongsutang and Imoyongsutang plus Maduryong were revealed non inhibitory effects on serum $K^+$ and $CL^-$ level $O_{3}-intoxicated$ Rats 12. The solid extracts Imoyongsutang was recognized significance on K-index in phagocytic activity in mice, but the solid extract of Imoymgsutang plus Maduryong recognized no significance. 13. The solid extract Imoyongsutang was recognized on significance on ${\alpha}-index$ in phagocytic activity in mice. but the solid extract of Imoyongsutang plus Maduryong recognized significance. Conclusions According to the above findings, it is suggested that the sold extract of Imoyongsutang and Imoyongsutang plus Maduryong were revealed effects on asthma cough or dyspnea caused by the abnormal rising of lung-allergy and throat discomfort so that they retain effectiveness on the instantly and delayed type allergy, the pulmonary thromboembolism and the lung damages in rats and mice.
