In this paper, we concentrate on data allocation methods for multiple broadcast channels. When the server broadcasts data, the important issue is to let mobile clients access requested data rapidly. Previous works first sorted data by their access probabilities and allocate the sorted data to the multiple channels by partitioning them into multiple channels. However, they do not reflect the difference of access probabilities among data allocated in the same channel. This paper proposes ZGMD allocation method. ZGMD allocates data item on multiple channels so that the difference of access probability in the same channel is maximized. ZGMD allocates sorted data to each channels and applies Broadcast Disk in each channel. ZGMD requires a proper indexing scheme for the performance improvement. This is because in ZGMD method each channel got allocated both hot and cold data. As a result, the sequential search heuristic does not allow the mobile client to access hot data items quickly. The proposed index scheme is based on using dedicated index channels in order to search the data channel where the requested data is. We show that our method achieve the near-optimal performance in terms of the average access time and significantly outperforms the existing methods.
Location management is very important in location-based services to provide services to the mobile users like banking, city guides and many more. Ubiquitous and mobile devices are the source of data in location management and its significant operations are update and search method. Some studies to improve these were presented by using optimal sequential paging, location area scheme and hierarchical database scheme. In addition, not all location services have the same access methods on data and it lead to difficulties of providing services. A proposed location management of multi-agent architecture is presented in this study. It shows the coordination of the agents on the distributed database of location-based services. The proposal focuses on the location management of the mobile object presented in a hierarchical search and update. Also, it uses a nearest neighbor technique for efficient search method of mobile objects.
In this paper, we propose a new spatio-temporal representation scheme which can model moving objets trajectories effectively in video data and a new signature-based access method for moving objects trajectories which can support efficient retrieval on user query based on moving objects trajectories. The proposed spatio-temporal representation scheme supports content-based retrieval based on moving objects trajectories and concept-based retrieval based on concepts(semantics) which are acquired through the location information of moving objects trajectories. Also, compared with the sequential search, our signature-based access method can improve retrieval performance by reducing a large number of disk accesses because it access disk using only retrieved candidate signatures after it first scans all signatures and performs filtering before accessing the data file. Finally, we show the experimental results that proposed scheme is superior to the Li and Shan's scheme in terns of both retrieval effectiveness and efficiency.

In this paper, we first review LDPC codes in general and a belief propagation algorithm that works in logarithm domain. LDPC codes, which is chosen 802.11n for wireless local access network(WLAN) standard are required a large number of computation due to large size of coded block and iteration. Therefore, we presented three kinds of low computational algorithm for LDPC codes. First, sequential decoding with partial group is proposed. It has same H/W complexity, and fewer number of iteration's are required at same performance in comparison with conventional decoder algorithm. Secondly, we have apply early stop algorithm. This method is reduced number of unnecessary iteration. Third, early detection method for reducing the computational complexity is proposed. Using a confidence criterion, some bit nodes and check node edges are detected early on during decoding. Through the simulation, we knew that the iteration number are reduced by half using subset algorithm and early stop algorithm is reduced more than one iteration and computational complexity of early detected method is about 30% offs in case of check node update, 94% offs in case of check node update compared to conventional scheme.
Multipurpose fisheries base was conceptually designed to establish marine ranching system in the coastal waters around Tongyoung, southern sea of Korea. Fisheries base for marine ranching system has integrated various facilities which were required for the process of spawning, rearing, training, releasing, monitoring and catching functions. This base has five steel piles for supporting upper structure and systems. Four steel piles are surrounded by circular net pen made by steel wire, they have the function of the protection against fouling for pile and scouring for bottom soil as well as secondary rearing and short stocking. We can use the last pile to moor a ship and access to the base. Principal structure with steel piles is designed by optimization technique considering design external forces in the coastal waters of return period of 50 years. Design optimization Problem is formulated for this base. Optimal design of multipurpose fisheries base is numerically investigated by sequential quadratic programming method.
Investigation of structural integrity has been a critical issue in the field of civil engineering for years. Visual inspection is one of the most available methods to explore deteriorative components in structures. Still, this method is not applicable to invisible damage of structures. Alternatively, system identification methods are capable of tracking modal properties of structures over time. The deviation of these dynamic properties can serve as indicators to access structural integrity. In this study, a modal tracking technique using frequency-domain system identification from seismic responses of structures is proposed. The method first segments the measured signals into overlapped sequential portions and then establishes multiple Hankel matrices. Each Hankel matrix is then converted to the frequency domain, and a temporal-average frequency-domain Hankel matrix can be calculated. This study also proposes the frequency band selection that can divide the frequency-domain Hankel matrix into several portions in accordance with referenced natural frequencies. Once these referenced natural frequencies are unavailable, the first few right singular vectors by the singular value decomposition can offer these references. Finally, the frequency-domain stochastic subspace identification tracks the natural frequencies and mode shapes of structures through quick stabilization diagrams. To evaluate performance of the proposed method, a numerical study is carried out. Moreover, the long-term monitoring strong motion records at a specific site are exploited to assess the tracking performance. As seen in results, the proposed method is capable of tracking modal properties through seismic responses of structures.
There are many technically difficult issues in searching multimedia data such as image, video and audio because they are massive and more complex than simple text-based data. As a method of searching multimedia data, a similarity retrieval has been studied to retrieve automatically basic features of multimedia data and to make a search among data with retrieved features because exact match is not adaptable to a matrix of features of multimedia. In this paper, data clustering and its indexing are proposed as a speedy similarity-retrieval method of multimedia data. This approach clusters similar images on adjacent disk cylinders and then builds Indexes to access the clusters. To minimize the search cost, the hashing is adapted to index cluster. In addition, to reduce I/O time, the proposed searching takes just one I/O to look up the location of the cluster containing similar object and one sequential file I/O to read in this cluster. The proposed schema solves the problem of multi-dimension by using clustering and its indexing and has higher search efficiency than the content-based image retrieval that uses only clustering or indexing structure.
In this paper, we consider a cognitive radio system operating as secondary user. It uses an empty channel that is not currently used by primary users having the license to the channel. In the previous works, secondary user looks for an empty channel by choosing any channel in order or randomly and by sensing the channel to distinguish whether primary users are using. But if primary user is fixed type, we will find an empty channel faster than the mentioned channel selecting methods by using a method considering prior information about cases that primary user used the channel, since it is possible to analogize the channel access possibility of primary user according to regular time and position. Therefore, we propose a channel searching method based on the channel list for the purpose of reducing the channel searching time and improving throughput of secondary users. Firstly, we determine a weighting value of each channel based on the history of channel activities of primary users. This value is added to current channel state buffer and we search an empty channel from channel with smallest value to one with the biggest value. Finally, we compare the performances of the proposed method with those of the sequential channel searching and the random channel searching methods in terms of the average channel searching time and the average number of transmissions of secondary user.

We investigate the scheduling problem for periodic job shops with blocking. We develop Petri net models for periodic job shops with finite buffers. A buffer control method would allow the jobs to enter the input buffer of the next machine in the order for which they are completed. We discuss difficulties in using such a random order buffer control method and random access buffers. We thus propose an alternative buffer control policy that restricts the jobs to enter the input buffer of the next machine in a predetermined order. The buffer control method simplifies job flows and control systems. Further, it requires only a cost-effective simple sequential buffer. We show that the periodic scheduling model with finite buffers using the buffer control policy can be transformed into an equivalent periodic scheduling model with no buffer, which is modeled as a timed marked graph. We characterize the structural properties for deadlock detection. Finally, we develop a mixed integer programming model for the no buffer problem that finds a deadlock-free optimal sequence that minimizes the cycle time.
Cognitive Radio (CR) ad hoc network is highly considered as one of promising future ad hoc networks, which enables opportunistic access to under-utilized licensed spectrum. Similarly to other CR networks, the spectrum sensing is a prerequisite in CR ad hoc network. Collaborative spectrum sensing can help increasing sensing performance. For such an infrastructureless network, however the coordination for the sensing collaboration is really complicated due to the lack of a central controller. In this paper, we propose a novel collaborative spectrum sensing scheme in which the final decision is made by the node with the highest data reliability based on a sequential Dempster Shafer theory. The collaboration of sensing data is also executed by the proposed contention-aware reporting mechanism which utilizes the sensing data reliability order for broadcasting spectrum sensing result. The proposed method reduces the collecting time and the overhead of the control channel due to the efficiency of the ordered sequential combination while keeping the same sensing performance in comparison with the conventional cooperative centralized spectrum sensing scheme.
