Study on Principal Sentiment Analysis of Social Data (소셜 데이터의 주된 감성분석에 대한 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose a method for identifying hidden principal sentiments among large scale texts from documents, social data, internet and blogs by analyzing standard language, slangs, argots, abbreviations and emoticons in those words. The IRLBA(Implicitly Restarted Lanczos Bidiagonalization Algorithm) is used for principal component analysis with large scale sparse matrix. The proposed system consists of data acquisition, message analysis, sentiment evaluation, sentiment analysis and integration and result visualization modules. The suggested approaches would help to improve the accuracy and expand the application scope of sentiment analysis in social data.

Multi-Topic Sentiment Analysis using LDA for Online Review (LDA를 이용한 온라인 리뷰의 다중 토픽별 감성분석 - TripAdvisor 사례를 중심으로 -)

  • Purpose There is much information in customer reviews, but finding key information in many texts is not easy. Business decision makers need a model to solve this problem. In this study we propose a multi-topic sentiment analysis approach using Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) for user-generated contents (UGC). Design/methodology/approach In this paper, we collected a total of 104,039 hotel reviews in seven of the world's top tourist destinations from TripAdvisor (www.tripadvisor.com) and extracted 30 topics related to the hotel from all customer reviews using the LDA model. Six major dimensions (value, cleanliness, rooms, service, location, and sleep quality) were selected from the 30 extracted topics. To analyze data, we employed R language. Findings This study contributes to propose a lexicon-based sentiment analysis approach for the keywords-embedded sentences related to the six dimensions within a review. The performance of the proposed model was evaluated by comparing the sentiment analysis results of each topic with the real attribute ratings provided by the platform. The results show its outperformance, with a high ratio of accuracy and recall. Through our proposed model, it is expected to analyze the customers' sentiments over different topics for those reviews with an absence of the detailed attribute ratings.

A Study on Efficient Market Hypothesis to Predict Exchange Rate Trends Using Sentiment Analysis of Twitter Data

  • Efficient Market Hypothesis (EMH), states that at any point in time in a liquid market security prices fully reflect all available information. This paper presents a study of proving the hypothesis through daily Twitter sentiments using the hybrid approach of the lexicon-based approach and the naïve Bayes classifier. In this research we analyze the currency exchange rate movement of Indonesia Rupiah vs US dollar as a way of testing the Efficient Market Hypothesis. In order to find a correlation between the prediction sentiments from Twitter data and the actual currency exchange rate trends we collect Twitter data every day and compute the overall sentiment to label them as positive or negative. Experimental results have shown 69% correct prediction of sentiment analysis and 65.7% correlation with positive sentiments. This implies that EMH is semi-strong Efficient Market Hypothesis, and that public information provide by Twitter sentiment correlate with changes in the exchange market trends.

Sentiment Analysis using Latent Structural SVM (잠재 구조적 SVM을 활용한 감성 분석기)

  • In this study, comments on restaurants, movies, and mobile devices, as well as tweet messages regardless of specific domains were analyzed for sentimental information content. We proposed a system for extraction of objects (or aspects) and opinion words from each sentence and the subsequent evaluation. For the sentiment analysis, we conducted a comparative evaluation between the Structural SVM algorithm and the Latent Structural SVM. As a result, the latter showed better performance and was able to extract objects/aspects and opinion words using VP/NP analyzed by the dependency parser tree. Lastly, we also developed and evaluated the sentiment detector model for use in practical services.

Sentiment analysis of nuclear energy-related articles and their comments on a portal site in Rep. of Korea in 2010-2019

  • This paper reviewed the temporal changes in the public opinions on nuclear energy in Korea with a big data analysis of nuclear energy-related articles and their comments posted on the portal site NAVER. All articles that included at least one of "nuclear energy," "nuclear power plant (NPP)," "nuclear power phase-out," or "anti-nuclear" in their titles or main text were extracted from those posted on NAVER in January 2010-December 2019. First, we performed annual word frequency analysis to identify what words had appeared most frequently in the articles. For that period, the most frequent words were "NPP," "nuclear energy," and "energy." In addition, "safety" has remained in the upper ranks since the Fukushima NPP accident. Then, we performed sentiment analysis of the pre-processed articles. The sentiment analysis showed that positive-tone articles have been reported more frequently than negativetone over the entire analysis period. Last, we performed sentiment analysis of the comments on the articles to examine the public's intention regarding nuclear issues. The analysis showed that the number of negative comments to articles each month-irrespective of positive or negative tone-was always larger than that of positive comments over the entire analysis period.

  • Sentiment refers to a person's thoughts, opinions, and feelings toward an object. Sentiment analysis is a process of collecting opinions on a specific target and classifying them according to their emotions, and applies to opinion mining that analyzes product reviews and reviews on the web. Companies and users can grasp the opinions of public opinion and come up with a way to do so. Recently, natural language processing models using the Transformer structure have appeared, and Google's BERT is a representative example. Afterwards, various models came out by remodeling the BERT. Among them, the Facebook AI team unveiled the XLM-R (XLM-RoBERTa), an upgraded XLM model. XLM-R solved the data limitation and the curse of multilinguality by training XLM with 2TB or more refined CC (CommonCrawl), not Wikipedia data. This model showed that the multilingual model has similar performance to the single language model when it is trained by adjusting the size of the model and the data required for training. Therefore, in this paper, we study the improvement of Korean sentiment analysis performed using a pre-trained XLM-R model that solved curse of multilinguality and improved performance.

Topic Modeling and Sentiment Analysis of Twitter Discussions on COVID-19 from Spatial and Temporal Perspectives

  • The study reported in this paper aimed to evaluate the topics and opinions of COVID-19 discussion found on Twitter. It performed topic modeling and sentiment analysis of tweets posted during the COVID-19 outbreak, and compared these results over space and time. In addition, by covering a more recent and a longer period of the pandemic timeline, several patterns not previously reported in the literature were revealed. Author-pooled Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) was used to generate twenty topics that discuss different aspects related to the pandemic. Time-series analysis of the distribution of tweets over topics was performed to explore how the discussion on each topic changed over time, and the potential reasons behind the change. In addition, spatial analysis of topics was performed by comparing the percentage of tweets in each topic among top tweeting countries. Afterward, sentiment analysis of tweets was performed at both temporal and spatial levels. Our intention was to analyze how the sentiment differs between countries and in response to certain events. The performance of the topic model was assessed by being compared with other alternative topic modeling techniques. The topic coherence was measured for the different techniques while changing the number of topics. Results showed that the pooling by author before performing LDA significantly improved the produced topic models.

A Study on the Psychological Counseling AI Chatbot System based on Sentiment Analysis (감정분석 기반 심리상담 AI 챗봇 시스템에 대한 연구)

  • As artificial intelligence is actively studied, chatbot systems are being applied to various fields. In particular, many chatbot systems for psychological counseling have been studied that can comfort modern people. However, while most psychological counseling chatbots are studied as rule-base and deep learning-based chatbots, there are large limitations for each chatbot. To overcome the limitations of psychological counseling using such chatbots, we proposes a novel psychological counseling AI chatbot system. The proposed system consists of a GPT-2 model that generates output sentence for Korean input sentences and an Electra model that serves as sentiment analysis and anxiety cause classification, which can be provided with psychological tests and collective intelligence functions. At the same time as deep learning-based chatbots and conversations take place, sentiment analysis of input sentences simultaneously recognizes user's emotions and presents psychological tests and collective intelligence solutions to solve the limitations of psychological counseling that can only be done with chatbots. Since the role of sentiment analysis and anxiety cause classification, which are the links of each function, is important for the progression of the proposed system, we experiment the performance of those parts. We verify the novelty and accuracy of the proposed system. It also shows that the AI chatbot system can perform counseling excellently.

Analysis of IT Service Quality Elements Using Text Sentiment Analysis (텍스트 감정분석을 이용한 IT 서비스 품질요소 분석)

  • In order to satisfy customers, it is important to identify the quality elements that affect customers' satisfaction. The Kano model has been widely used in identifying multi-dimensional quality attributes in this purpose. However, the model suffers from various shortcomings and limitations, especially those related to survey practices such as the data amount, reply attitude and cost. In this research, a model based on the text sentiment analysis is proposed, which aims to substitute the survey-based data gathering process of Kano models with sentiment analysis. In this model, from the set of opinion text, quality elements for the research are extracted using the morpheme analysis. The opinions' polarity attributes are evaluated using text sentiment analysis, and those polarity text items are transformed into equivalent Kano survey questions. Replies for the transformed survey questions are generated based on the total score of the original data. Then, the question-reply set is analyzed using both the original Kano evaluation method and the satisfaction index method. The proposed research model has been tested using a large amount of data of public IT service project evaluations. The result shows that it can replace the existing practice and it promises advantages in terms of quality and cost of data gathering. The authors hope that the proposed model of this research may serve as a new quality analysis model for a wide range of areas.

Sentiment Analysis on Global Events under Pandemic of COVID-19

  • During last few years, pandemic of COVID-19 has been a global issue. Under the COVID-19, global events have been restricted or canceled to secure public hygiene and safety. Since one of the largest global events is Olympic Games, we selected recent Olympic Games as our case of analysis. Tokyo Olympic Games (TOG) was held in 2021, but it encountered a millennium disaster, the pandemic of COVID-19. In such a special period, it is of great significance to explore the emotional tendency of global views before and TOG via artificial intelligence. This paper vastly collects the TOG comment data of mainstream websites in South Korea, China, and the United States by implementing crawler program for sentiment analysis (SA). And we use a variety of sentiment analysis models to compare the accuracy of the experimental results, to obtain more reliable SA results. In addition, in the prediction results, to reduce the distortion of opinion by a minority, we introduce an algorithm called "Removing Biased Minority Opinions (RBMO)" and provide how to apply this method to the interpretation domain. Through our method, more authoritative SA results were obtained, which in turn provided a basis for predicting the sentiment tendency of countries around the world in TOG during the COVID-19 epidemic.
