  • Purpose Product characteristics and price value in website have strongly effects on customer satisfaction. Especially, in the online shopping site, the scarcity limits the customer's opportunity to purchase the product. Thus scarcity has been proposed as a important factor that makes the customer highly aware of the merchantability of the product. The scarcity in the web store is used as an important variable to make purchasing decisions of users easier by psychological pressure. In the case of scarce products with price discounts in online commerce, advertising formats that highlight scarcity value in the web commerce market are very effective in enhancing purchase intentions of consumers. Unlike offline stores, the importance of scarcity becomes more important when reflecting the characteristics of online commerce. Therefore, this study intends to confirm the influence of the degree of price discounts and scarcity information presented by Web sites on consumer purchase behavior in Web purchase behavior. Design/methodology/approach This study conducted a web-based experimental study on price sensitivity and price discount. Therefore, we created experimental web-sites that offer two stimuli according to the discount rate. The 200 respondents were randomly assigned. The stimuli were fictitious based on tourism products. The first stimulus presented the price discount(15% discount) with basic explanation about the package of the tourist package. The stimuli assigned to the second group were used for groups with high price discount intensity(65% discount). In this way, the two stimuli clearly distinguished the level of price discount intensity. This paper conducted t-test analysis and structural equation to analyze the experiemental results after confirming the reliability and validity. Findings The results of this study are as follows. The difference in price discount intensity (15% vs 65%) with scarcity showed the mean difference among all the variables. Therefore, this study concluded that there is a significant difference between the price discount of 15% and 65% for the acquisition value and transaction value of users. In particular, consumers' purchase intention is greater and product recommendation intensity is stronger when the price discount is 65%. As a result, the high degree of the price discount intensity with scarcity exerts a greater influence on consumers' purchase intentions. Product scarcity also have a significant impact on perceived value of users. Therefore, purchase intention of customers increases when perceived value increases their profit and pleasure feeling.

  • The researches on the parameter estimation for storage function method have been conducted for a long time using different methods. However, the determination of the optimal parameters takes a long time and there is a controversy that the proposed optimal parameters do not likely represent the physical characteristics of watershed. In this study, the characteristics of the continuity and storage function equation was analyzed and sensitivities were evaluated. As the result, the only optimal solution is suggested among several local optimums. It is also shown that the lag time is able to be determined using the direct runoff starting time of the watershed. From the sensitivity analysis, it is also proved that the determination of the lag time is very important and the only optimal solution could be found easily after selecting the lag time. Therefore, unlike the traditional optimization method, the proposed method does not take a long time to find the optimal solution which is depending on the characteristics of the rainfall events. The fixed coefficient method which is a method to estimate the optimal parameters of storage function method has been modified using the proposed method. Therefore, the practical efficiency to apply storage function method could be enhanced by applying the proposed method. While the traditional method takes care only the error of the runoff hydrograph, it is very important that the proposed method considers the characteristics of the watershed.

  • As the distributed model is developed and widely used, the accuracy of a rainfall measurement and more dense rainfall observation network are required for the reflection of various spatial properties. However, in reality, it is not easy to get the accurate data from dense network. Generally, we could not have the proper rainfall gages in space and even we have proper network for rainfall gages it is not easy to reflect the variations of rainfall in space and time. Often, we do also have missing rainfall data at the rainfall gage stations due to various reasons. We estimate the distribution of mean areal rainfall data from the point rainfalls. So, in the aspect of continuous rainfall property in time, we should fill the missing rainfall data then we can represent the spatial distribution of rainfall data. This study uses the Fuzzy-Genetic algorithm as a interpolation method for filling the missing rainfall data. We compare the Fuzzy-Genetic algorithm with arithmetic average method, inverse distance method, normal ratio method, and ratio of distance and elevation method which are widely used previously. As the results, the previous methods showed the accuracy of 70 to 80 % but the Fuzzy-Genetic algorithm showed that of 90 %. Especially, from the sensitivity analysis, we suggest the values of power in the equation for filling the missing data according to the distance and elevation.

  • In this study, we developed a relational formula for observing high - resolution rainfall using vehicle rain sensor. The vehicle rain sensor consists of eight channels. Each channel generates a sensor signal by detecting the amount of rainfall on the windshield of the vehicle when rainfall occurs. The higher the rainfall, the lower the sensor signal is. Using these characteristics of the sensor signal generated by the rain sensor, we developed a relational expression. In order to generate specific rainfall, an artificial rainfall generator was constructed and the change of the sensor signal according to the variation of the rainfall amount in the artificial rainfall generator was analyzed. Among them, the optimal sensor channel which reflects various rainfall amounts through the sensitivity analysis was selected. The sensor signal was generated in 5 minutes using the selected channel and the representative values of the generated 5 - minute sensor signals were set as the average, 25th, 50th, and 75th quartiles. The calculated rainfall values were applied to the actual rainfall data using the constructed relational equation and the calculated rainfall amount was compared with the rainfall values observed at the rainfall station. Although the reliability of the relational expression was somewhat lower than that of the data of the verification result data, it was judged that the experimental data of the residual range was insufficient. The rainfall value was calculated by applying the developed relation to the actual rainfall, and compared with the rainfall value generated by the ground rainfall observation instrument observed at the same time to verify the reliability. As a result, the rain sensor showed a fine rainfall of less than 0.5 mm And the average observation error was 0.36mm.

  • Purpose - Recently, many large retailers have been frequently purchasing commercial brands. Not only the quality of products purchased but also the brand images are of concern in this process. Based on this rising trend, commercial brands have become an important issue in the retail business world, along with increasing general interest as well. Thus, this study focuses on the factors affecting commercial brand images and clarifies the impact of the resulting factors as well. First, store images and familiarity, price sensitiveness, and knowledge are presented as the effect factors for commercial brands. Second, the study tries to clarify the effect of commercial brand image on the reliability and loyalty of customers. Research design, data, and methodology - To conduct the study methodology, 250 questionnaires were distributed to retailers who have used large discount stores located in Busan to purchase a commercial brand a total of 234 valid questionnaires were used in the final analysis. To verify the hypotheses, a structure equation formula using Amos 20.0 was calculated. First, prior to the verification of hypotheses, the reliability and feasibility of the questions were tested, and as a result, the value of Cronbach's alpha was higher than 0.7, thereby showing reliability. Additionally, for the verification of the feasibility of the questions, a confirmation factor analysis was implemented. Results - First, variances such as store images, familiarity, price sensitivity, and knowledge were presented as the factors of effect on commercial brands. As a result of the hypotheses verification, all the effect factors presented in this study were confirmed as important variables of commercial brand images. The hypotheses were drawn based on the studies relating to existing commercial brands, and thereby, a result similar to previous studies was produced. However, the effect factors of the commercial brand image presented in this study shaped a new study model based on the previous studies. Second, it was found that commercial brand images had positive effects on the reliability and loyalty of customers. This study presented reliability and loyalty as the resulting factors of commercial brand image because they are the most important factors in relation to customer behavior and variables that can suggest marketing points for distribution businesses. Conclusions - This study focused on clarifying the factors that are important effect factors for commercial brand images. As a result, all the hypotheses were confirmed in this study, indicating a meaningful result, and thereby suggesting many points that can be presented to distribution businesses. First, the proper strategies should be developed based on the hypothesis that a store image, the familiarity of customers with brands, and the price sensitiveness and knowledge level of customers have an important effect on the choice of commercial brands. Additionally, the formation of such favorable images will have positive effects not only in terms of customer trust in the commercial brands but also in terms of their loyalty.

  • We present key issues to consider in estimating damages from price-fixing cases and then apply the procedure addressing those issues to a transportation fuel market. Among the five methods of overcharge calculation, the regression analysis incorporating the yardstick method is the best. If the price equation relates the domestic price to the foreign price and the exchange rate as in the transportation fuel market, the functional form satisfying both logical consistency and modeling flexibility is the log-log functional form. If the data under analysis is of time series in nature, then the ARDL model should be the base model for each market and the regression analysis incorporating the yardstick method combines these ARDL equations to account for inter-market correlation and arrange constant terms and collusion-period dummies across component equations appropriately so as to identify the overcharge parameter. We propose a two-step test for the benchmarked market: (a) conduct market-by-market Spearman or Kendall test for randomness of the individual market price series first and (b) then conduct across-market Friedman test for homogeneity of the market price series. Statistical significance is the minimal requirement to establish the alleged proposition in the world of uncertainty. Between the sensitivity analysis and the model selection process for the best fitting model, the latter is far more important in the economic analysis of damage in price-fixing litigation. We applied our framework to a transportation fuel market and could not reject the null hypothesis of no overcharge.

  • Products developed in this research is a software which can transfer the type of shape(.shp) into the type of ascii using the land cover data and the topography data in the metropolitan area of Seoul. In addition, it can calculate the $CO_2$ flux according to distribution of plants within the land cover data. The $CO_2$ flux is calculated by the experimental equation which is compose of the meteorological parameters such as the solar radiation and the air temperature. The net flux was shown in about $-19ton/km^2$ by removing $CO_2$ through the photosynthesis during daytime, and in 2 ton/km2 by producing it through the respiration during nighttime on 10 August 2004, the maximum day of air temperature during the period of 3yr(2001 to 2004), in the metropolitan area of Seoul. Spatial distribution of the air temperature and the wind field is simulated by substituting the middle classification of the land cover map data, upgraded by the Korean Ministry of Environment(KME), for the land-use data of the United States Geological Survey(USGS) within the Meteorological Mesoscale Model Version 5(MM5) on 10 August 2006 in the metropolitan area of Seoul. Difference of the air temperature between both data was shown in the maximum range of $-2^{\circ}C\;to\;2.9^{\circ}C$, and the air temperature due to the land use data of KME was higher than that of USGS in average $0.4^{\circ}C$. Also, those of wind vectors were meanly lower than that of USGS in daytime and nighttime. Furthermore, the hourly time series of Volatile Organic Components(VOCs) is calculated by using the Biosphere Emission and Interaction System Version 2(BEIS2) including the new land cover data and the meteorological parameters such as the air temperature and so]ar insolation. It is possible to calculate the concentration of ozone due to the biogenic emission of VOCs.

  • The simple solid electrolyte carbon dioxide sensor with heaters were fabricated by using Li ionic conductor. Two Au electrodes were used for the reference and sensing electrode respectively. Two types of gas sensors, type ( I ) and type (II), were fabricated. Type ( I ) sensor was fabricated by the method of melting and crystallizing alkali metal carbonate at the temperature of $420{\sim}500^{\circ}C$. The sensing membrane of type (II) sensor was formed by the printing method on sensing electrode after metal carbonate was mixed with binder. The response characteristics of sensors fabricated for the carbon dioxide were investigated for a range of $CO_{2}$ concentration from 950 ppm to 9,950 ppm at operating temperature $420^{\circ}C$. Type ( I ) sensor and type (II) sensor showed the sensitivity of 62 mV/decade and 65 mV/decade respectively. The emf/decade of type (II) sensor tested at $420^{\circ}C$ almost followed the theoretical value of Nernst's equation and showed stable response characteristics with the fast response time of $15{\sim}20$ sec. Also type (II) sensor showed excellent stability and reproduction properties for 60 days.

  • The cable damages of the bridge structures induce very important impact on the structural safety, which implies the close monitoring of the cable damage is required to secure sustained safety of the bridges. Most usual available maintenance techniques are based on the monitoring the change of the natural frequency of the structures by damages. However, existing method are based on vibration method to calculate lateral vibration and system identification can calculate the axial stiffness using sensitivity equation by trial error method. But the frequency study by the longitudinal movement need because of the sag effect in system identification. This study proposes a new method to investigate the damage magnitudes and status. The method improves the accuracies in the magnitudes and status of damages by adopting the natural frequency of longitudinal movement. The study results have been validated by comparing them with the approximate solution of FEM. Thus, the relationship of cable damage and frequency appear with relation that the severe damage has the little frequency. If we know the real frequency we can estimate the cable damage severity using this relationship. This method can be possible the efficient management of the cable damage.

  • Distributed ecohydrological model which can simulate hydrological components, vegetation and landsurface temperature using practically available input and observed data with minimum parameters is introduced. This model is designed to properly simulate in area with lack of observed data. Parameter estimation and calibration of the model can be carried out with indirectly estimated data (monthly surface runoff by NRCS-CN method and annual actual vaporization by empirical equation) and remote sensing data (NDVI, LST) instead of observed data. We applied this model in the Naeseong creek basin to evaluate the model validity. Firstly, we found the sensitive parameters which largely influence the simulation results by sensitivity analysis, and then hydrological components, vegetation, land-surface temperature, routed streamflow and water temperature were simulated over 10 years (2001 to 2010) using calibrated parameters. Parameters are estimated by optimization method. It is shown that most of grids are well simulated. In the case of streamflow and water temperature, we checked two observed points in the outlet of watershed and it is shown that streamflow and water temperature are properly simulated as well. Hence, it can be shown that this model properly simulate the hydrological components, vegetation, land-surface temperature, routed streamflow and water temperature as well, even though in despite of using limited input data and minimum parameters.
