  • The problems associated with the synthesis, characterization and application of $SnO_2$-Au nanocomposites for the optimization of conductometric gas sensors have been discussed in this report. Nanocomposites have been synthesized on the surface of $SnO_2$ films using successive ionic layer deposition(SILD) method. It has been shown that the proposed approach to surface modification of metal oxide films is an excellent method for the optimization of the operating characteristics of $SnO_2$-based gas sensors, being developed for the detection of reducing gases as well as ozone.

  • Recently, RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) is observed with government and connection enterprises as the central figure. RFID utilizing radio is a technology that enable exchange of information sensing and recognize object. RFID is expected that the practical use limits widens by territory that can form vast market such as logistics management according to RFID's low-cost aggravation as well as usage of life and improvement of performance because present R&D is gone vigorously. Because RFID is possible application everywhere if it is various service industries as well as logistics, industry spot, manufactory and place that flowing of goods is, is used, and is becoming big limelight from society several territories.

  • In this research, GIS based evaluation methods were applied to habitats of Japanese black bear (Ursus thibetanus japonicus Schlegel) in northern Honshu. The study area was divided into 828 small watershed units , and five GIS indexes, Vegetation Type(V.T.), Extent of Forest Cover (E.F.C.) Slope Incline (S.I), Average Altitude (A.A.) and Road Density(R.D.), were used to evaluate each watershed unit in terms of suitability as black bear habitat. In addition, Interspersion and Juxtaposition spatial indices were calculated for each watershed unit. The results clearly identified the regions with the most suitable habitats, indicating that this methodology is suitable for application to various environmental planning efforts, such as regional development master plans, project-specific environmental impact assessments, species management plans and biodiversity conservation plans.

  • There are no immutable phenomena in reality. A lot of applications are dealing with data characterized by spatial and temporal and/or uncertain features. Currently, there has no any data model accommodating enough those three elements of spatial objects to directly use in application systems. For such reasons, we introduce a fuzzy spatio -temporal data model (FSTDM) and a method of integrating temporal and fuzzy spatial operators in a unified manner to create fuzzy spatio -temporal (FST) operators. With these operators, complex query expression will become concise. Our research is feasible to apply to the management systems and query processor of natural resource data, weather information, graphic information, and so on.

  • Searching and enhancement of shadow area in the satellite imagery is one of growing interest because of new possible needs of application in this field. This paper proposes an algorithm to search and enhance the shadow areas caused by buildings such as apartments which are very common in Korean satellite imagery. The proposed searching algorithm makes use of characteristics of histogram of images in the spatial domain and also uses the fast Fourier transform and correlation in Frequency domain. Further, the enhancement algorithm is only applied to the shadow areas searched and preserves the areas which are naturally dark.

  • Acoustic emission(AE) signals detected during metal cutting were applied as the experimental test to sensing tool wear and chipping on the NC vertical milling machine. The in-process detection of cutting tool wear including chipping, cracking and fracture has been investigated by means of AE in spite of vibration or noise through intermittent metal cutting, then the following results were obtained 1) When the tool wear is increased suddenly, or the amplitude of AE signals changes largely, it indicates chipping or breaking of the insert tip. 2) It was confirmed that AE signal is highly sensitive to the cutting speed and tool wear. 3) At the early period of cutting, the wear were large and RMS value increased highly by the influence of minute chipping and cracking, etc. Therefore, the above situations should be considered for the time when the tool would be changed.

  • The GPS(global positioning system) made up of 28 artificial satellites going round around the earth at a height of 20,000.Km is a system to determine the receiver's location by measuring the distance between the satellite and receivers using an electronic wave. Recently it's been widely used in various applications, such as a navigator, a surveying system, etc. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm to transform coordinates from GPS signals corresponding to various sizes of maps, and the application using this algorithm is also introduced. The algorithm is programmed by MFC on the WinCE 5.0 operating system, and the GPS receiver with a 20 channel high sensitivity and GPS microcontroller chip manufactured by SiRF Technology was used.

  • This paper described some applications using Open GIS Component that was called MapBase. There were 4 applications : KSDI(Korea Spatial Data Infrastructure) funded by MOIC(Ministry of Information and Communication), National Plants Resource Management System supported by Korea Forest Service, 7-Underground Facilities Management System of Cheongju funded by MOCT(Ministry of Construction and Transportation), and National Disaster Management System supported by MOGAHA(Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs. Because they wanted to access heterogeneous spatial database, it was necessary to select MapBase as their base methodology. The main feature of MapBase was component S/W which provided the interoperability and reusability among GIS applications as well as non-GIS information system through common specification. In this paper, we showed some applications' architectures and functions to increase understanding MapBase. That would help you to make application using MapBase.

  • The topographical effect resulted from rugged terrains and inhomogeneous spectral characteristics due to the complexly mixed land cover condition of Korea substantially lower the remotely sensed land cover classification accuracy In this study, a topographic correction method using digital elevation model to alleviate the topographic effects. To deal with inhomogeneous spectral characteristic, a hybrid classifier with inclusion of prior probabilities was introduced. This investigation concluded that the topographical normalization and hybrid classification with prior probabilities are effective on rugged landscape. The overall and average classification accuracies were improved by 0.92% and 1.016% respectively. The most substantial and noticeable accuracy improvement was observed in forest areas.

  • We analyze the information level of local small and medium business in the base of Nolan's growth stage model. To estimate information level we do separate level analysis for six sections and integrated total level analysis. After analyzing information level of business, we focus on the factors of this result to understand the most influential environments. The local business we were studying are the third stage-control stage. But Organization of information department and Planning and control of information are the second stage. The number of computer system application field is very related to information level. We present the critical factors of information level of small and medium business.
