The Possibility of Displaying Cultural Properties Using Holograms (홀로그램을 이용한 문화재 전시 가능성)

  • As a result of the great attention to the historical and cultural heritage, the achievements of the natural sciences are finding their way into museums. The necessity of preserving the treasures of the artistic and cultural heritage has brought into being a new alliance, an alliance between science and culture. The most sciences of cultural properties pertain mainly to improvement of the methods of identifications, preservation and restoration of historical monuments. Recently a new physical method has appeared that, in a sense, possesses universal capabilities. That method is holography, which successfully combines unique features making it possible not only to create three-dimesional optical replicas of real three -dimensional objects practically indistinguishable from the original but also to study them. We shall deal in this papper with its scientific principle and application for displaying, as well as on other potential applications.

  • Recently the trade show is a massive marketing effort of a particular industry and introduces new products to potential customers, as well as the ability to elevate the brand's image and corporate identity. It is increasing its importance as a venue of communication. In these changes, the exhibition is required to have the emotional approach to enhance the dynamic and creative image of companies. Therefore, the product itself as well as the importance of various visual contents of the exhibition is increasing positive effect of the image and marketing on their products. In this sense, this study analyzes video contents of the exhibition that was held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Europe's largest display show 'ISE (Integrated Systems Europe)' in 2013, focusing on the domestic company, Samsung, LG Electronics and other four foreign companies. The analysis is based on the Herbert Zettl's applied media aesthetics related to the video contents, through which we can find the way to the development of exhibition video contents making for Trade show.

  • A strategic decision making on location selection for product transportation includes many tangible and untangible factors. To choose the best locations is a difficult job in the sense that objectives usually conflict with each other. In this paper, we consider a multi stage multi criteria transshipment problem with different types of items to be transported from the sources to the destination points. For the optimization of the problem, a goal programming formulation will be presented in which the location selection for each product type will be determined under the multi objective criteria. In the study, we generalize the transshipment model with a variety of product types and finite number of different intermediate nodes between origins and destinations. For the selection of the criteria we selected the costs(fixed cost and transportation cost), location numbers, and unsatisfied demand for each type of products in multi stage transportation, which are the main goals in transshipment modelling problems. The related conditions are also modelled through linear formats.

  • It is a common sense that water is an old offender crashing our dream of achieving a good vacuum in an early time. Various techniques for accelerating the removal of water have been developed and utilized. However, we generally are not skilled in treating the water pumping in a physically proper manner. We are rather used to handle the situation of the water pumping just like considering a conventional air pumping. Under such an erroneous approach, we cannot help making an overestimation on the pumping capability of our vacuum system, and it leads to a big mismatch between the real operation timing and the planned process schedule. In this article, some main points concerning with the subject that a vacuum pumping is really a water pumping will be discussed.

Tacit Knowledge in Government-led R&D Project Selection

  • This paper explains that tacit knowledge is a critical component for the success of government-led R&D project selection, where rapid and accurate decision making need to be made under lack of information circumstances. It also explores ways to fully exploit the tacit knowledge of experts participating in the Korean government's R&D project selection process. Some of these include: (1) strategic attention from the top officials, (2) forming self-organizing teams, (3) establishing a horizontal and risk-taking culture, (4) encouraging a sense of responsibility in creating and sharing tacit knowledge, and (5) providing a seamless monitoring system and training.

Seismic Scenario Simulation and Its Applications on Risk Management in Taiwan

  • This paper introduces various kinds of applications of the scenario-based seismic risk assessment in Taiwan. Seismic scenario simulation (SSS) is a GIS-based technique to assess distribution of ground shaking intensity, soil liquefaction probability, building damages and associated casualties, interruption of lifeline systems, economic losses, etc. given source parameters of an earthquake. The SSS may integrate with rapid earthquake information release system to obtain valuable information and to assist in decision-making processes to dispatch rescue and medical resources efficiently. The SSS may also integrate with probabilistic seismic hazard analysis to evaluate various kinds of risk estimates, such as average annual loss and probable maximum loss in one event, in a probabilistic sense and to help proposing feasible countermeasures.

  • Explicit state-space formulate for an H$_{.inf}$ based two-degrees-of-freedom robust controller are derived in discrete-time. The controller provides robust stability against coprime factor uncertainty, and a degree of robust performance in the sense of making the closed-loop system match a prespecified reference model. It is shown that the controller consists of a plant observer, the chosen reference model, and a generalized state feedback law associated with the plant and model states. The controller structure is shown to be relatively simple and thus may reduce the computational load on the digital control processor.

  • The purpose of this research is to introduce a new method for teaching family resource management using classroom experiments. Classroom experiments are very attractive in the sense that students are placed directly into the various environments being studied, and they enhance the effectiveness of the Socratic Method, as opposed to traditional lectures. The family resource management approach focuses on the resource allocation behavior of families in the utilization of their human and non-human resources to achieve goals. Therefore, there are many family resource decision situations to which classroom experiments may be fruitfully applied. Within this context, this research provides useful implications for applying managerial concepts of family resource management behavior in practical situations. The study results might be used to analyze an interactive framework that facilitates discussions of classroom experiments, family resource management behavior and human ecology.

  • This paper proposes a new algorithm that finds fuzzy control law of the system in which little knowledge has been known. In view or conventional fuzzy method, making control law needs the sense and the knowledge of the system which are provided by expert. But fuzzy control using proposed algorithm needs no expert for hating control law. After construction of the 1st order approximated ARMA model using input-output pairs, new defuzzification method is applied. The deduced rule is stored in fuzzy input space and updated by the proposed algorithm adaptively. To show the validity and effectiveness of proposed control method. simulation result is presented.

  • This paper analyses the real-time performance of Ethernet based intranet whether it is applicable to the real-time network. Unpredictability of transmission delay by collision-delay-retransmission mechanism in CAMA/CD(Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detect) of Ethernet is the major reason making hard to apply to real-time system. Both retransmission mechanism of TCP(Transmission Control Protocol) for reliability and sliding windows algorithm for high utilization make hard to predict transmission delay. Because real-time control network require fast responsibility and bustle of short-periodic messages, global-clock for collision avoidance and UDP(User Datagram Protocol) for high utilization of network are used.
