  • In this paper, we will introduce our approach for composing operation based on user tasks. It is based on Service Component Architecture (SCA). In addition, we developed ontology based on OWL and the MIT process handbook, called u-TO(universal task ontology), which can be used for users describing and specifying semantically their needs. We represent the hierarchy of tasks, and classify tasks according to views in u-TO. It aims at facilitating the modeling of complex demands or systems without regarding details of technical aspects of underlying infrastructure.

  • Esterel is an imperative synchronous language and its formal semantic based on finite state machine makes it easy to perform program analyses using automata. In this paper, we propose a syntax-driven automata generation rule. Because our rule intuitively expresses syntactic structure, it is very useful for other program analyses.

  • Evaluation of multilingual translation fundamentally involves measurement of meaning equivalences between the formally mapped discourses/texts of SL(source language) and TL(target language) both represented by a metalanguage called IL(interlingua). Unlike a usaal uni-directional MT(machine translation) model(e.g.:SL $\rightarrow$ analysis $\rightarrow$ transfer $\rightarrow$ generation $\rightarrow$ TL), a bi-directional(by 'negotiation') model(i.e.: SL $\rightarrow$ IL/S $\leftrightarrow$ IL $\leftrightarrow$ IL/T \leftarrow TL) is proposed here for the purpose of evaluating multilingual, not merely bilingual, translation. The IL, as conceived of in this study, is an English-based predicate logic represented in the framework of MRS(minimal recursion semantics), an MT-oriented off-shoot of HPSG(Head-driven Phrase Structure Grammar). In addition, a list of semantic and pragmatic checkpoints are set up, some being optional depending on the kind and use of the translation, so sa to have the evaluation of translation fine-grained by computing matching or mismatching of such checkpoints.

Development of a knowledge-based medical expert system to infer supportive treatment suggestions for pediatric patients

  • This paper discusses the design, implementation, and potential use of an ontology-based mobile pediatric consultation and monitoring system, which is a smart healthcare expert system for pediatric patients. The proposed system provides remote consultation and monitoring of pediatric patients during their illness at places distant from medical service areas. The system not only shares instant medical data with a pediatrician but also examines the data as a smart medical assistant to detect any emergency situation. In addition, it uses an inference engine to infer instant suggestions for performing certain initial medical treatment steps when necessary. The applied methodologies and main technical contributions have three aspects: (a) pediatric consultation and monitoring ontology, (b) semantic Web rule knowledge base, and (c) inference engine. Two case studies with real pediatric patients are provided and discussed. The reported results of the applied case studies are promising, and they demonstrate the applicability, effectiveness, and efficiency of the proposed approach.

  • Collaborative ontology construction is the latest trend in developing ontologies. In this technique domain specialists and ontologists need to work together. Because of the complexity associated with ontology construction, it's done in an iterative and incremental fashion. After each iteration, an ontology increment will be produced. Current ontology increment is always an enhanced version of the previous increment. Each ontology increment has to be verified for its accuracy. Domain specialists' contribution is very significant in accomplishing this necessity. Unfortunately, non-computing domain specialists (i.e. medical doctors, bankers, lawyers) are illiterate on semantic concepts. Therefore, validating the accuracy of the ontology increment is a complex hurdle for them. This research proposes verbalization approach to address this complexity.

  • 서비스기반 아키텍쳐 (SOA)는 웹기반의 표준화된 인터페이스 및 데이터 교환을 통하여 다양한 기능을 지원하기 위하여 유연성있는 비즈니스 시스템의 통합이 간편하다는 장점을 가지고 있어 현재 많은 IT 시스템에서 사용되고 있다. 하지만 기본적으로 SOA 는 call-and-return 방식으로 구현되어 있어 소프트웨어 개발 프로세스과 같이 시스템 또는 시스템 참여자간의 복잡한 상호작용이 수반되는 프로세스를 지원하는 시스템을 구축하기에는 한계를 보이고 있다. 따라서 개발 프로세스에 적용되는 시스템에서 복잡한 상호작용을 구현할 수 있는 SOA 기반 시스템이 필요하다고 판단된다. 우리는 이 논문에서 복잡한 상호작용을 지원할 수 있는 SOA 기반 프레임워크를 소개한다. SOA 기반 프레임워크에서 다양한 상호작용을 지원하기 위하여 우리는 semantic web 과 dialog act 이론을 사용하였으며 개발프로세스에 적용할 수 있는 ontology 를 개발, 사용함에 의하여 SOA 환경에서 다양한 메시지를 표현할 수 있도록 하였다. 또한 마지막으로 소프트웨어 개발 프로세스 사례연구를 통하여 우리의 접근방법의 타당성을 보인다.

  • In the medical field, for the purpose of diagnosis and treatment of diseases, building knowledge base has received a lot of attention. The most important thing to build a knowledge base is representing the knowledge accurately. In this paper we suggest a knowledge representation method using Ontology technique with the datasets obtained from the domestic papers on Alzheimer disease that has received a lot of attention recently in the medical field. The suggested Ontology for Alzheimer disease defines all the possible classes: lexical information from journals such as 'author' and 'publisher' research subjects extracted from 'title', 'abstract', 'keywords', and 'results'. It also included various semantic relationships between classes through the Ontology properties. Inference can be supported since our Ontology adopts hierarchical tree structure for the classes and transitional characteristics of the properties. Therefore, semantic representation based query is allowed as well as simple keyword query, which enables inference based knowledge query using an Ontology query language 'SPARQL'.

  • Word representation, an important area in natural language processing(NLP) used machine learning, is a method that represents a word not by text but by distinguishable symbol. Existing word embedding employed a large number of corpora to ensure that words are positioned nearby within text. However corpus-based word embedding needs several corpora because of the frequency of word occurrence and increased number of words. In this paper word embedding is done using dictionary definitions and semantic relationship information(hypernyms and antonyms). Words are trained using the feature mirror model(FMM), a modified Skip-Gram(Word2Vec). Sense similar words have similar vector. Furthermore, it was possible to distinguish vectors of antonym words.

  • Software adaptation may be required to interact between heterogeneous platforms and to react to rapid change of environment in ubiquitous computing. Web service provides a way to use heterogeneous and distributed services or resources to utilize and organize them. But it is not easy to retrieve appropriate services when we search services because web service lacks of semantic information. Semantic web service provides additional information of services, but it does not support a method to match them in various ways. We can adapt and extend web applications by using web service, but a method for management and administration is still needed. Therefore in this paper, we propose a framework for dynamic growing of web service applications based on ESB(Enterprise Service Bus) and agent and provide a prototype to show its usefulness.

  • This paper analyses meta-data systems for serials in order to provide the fundamental infrastructure for serials-sharing systems based on semantic interoperability. According to the primitive features of serials information, meta-data for serials are classified into 3 main subsystems: serial identification Information, serial bibliographic information and serial holding information. The serial identification information that play the important role of the primary key in library management systems should be refined to accommodate serials with digital formats. Although MARC formats have been commonly used for the description of serial bibliographic information, a new meta-data format for serial bibliographic information that harmonize with the abundance of meta-data elements in MARC and the simplicity of DCMI. For serial holding information, the newly proposed standards such as ANSI/NSIO Z39.50 are adequate to grasp the varieties of serial holding patterns. It should be able to differentiate the level of description by means of the types of serial information services. As the current computing technology generally uses XML for the representation and Process of information, the meta-data system for serials should be based on XML.
