  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences in non-cognitive factors, specifically achievement goal orientation (AGO) and self-regulated learning (SRL), influencing the academic achievement (AC) of medical and nursing students. 186 students, including 110 medical students and 76 nursing students, completed a survey, which addressed the factors of AGO and SRL. There were significant differences in the factors that affected the academic achievement of medical and nursing students. Multiple regression revealed that the AC of medical students was significantly more affected by mastery-approach AGO (p<0.05), seeking information (p<0.001), and rehearsing/memorizing SRL (p<0.01), while the AC of nursing students was affected by performance-approach AGO, self-efficacy (p<0.001), and time-management SRL. Analysis of variance revealed that significant differences in the sub-factors of AGO and SRL between the medical and nursing students. Thus, it was found that the academic achievement of medical and nursing students was influenced by non-cognitive factors, but there were significant differences in the sub-factors by group. It is suggested that comparative studies with other student groups and a longitudinal study of medical and nursing students need to be conducted, and a personalized counseling and learning intervention focusing on non-cognitive factors should be provided to medical and nursing students.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the convergence factors influencing learning satisfaction of nursing students in the COVID-19 pandemic after applying non-face-to-face mixed classes consisted of both real-time and non-real time distance educations. The participants were 109 nursing students who attended in a university and completed the self-report questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the SPSS 23.0 program. The results showed that the learning flow was 3.41, self-regulated learning ability was 3.75, and learning satisfaction was 3.98. Learning satisfaction showed a positive correlation with learning flow (r=.42, p<.001) and self-regulated learning ability (r=.75, p<.001). In addition, the factors influencing the learning satisfaction of the subjects of this study were self-regulated learning ability (𝛽=.662) followed by 60.6% (F=25.63, p<.001). Therefore, to enhance learning satisfaction of nursing students, it is necessary to increase their self-regulated learning abilities and to develop and apply training program considering the needs of the educational environment change in the post-COVID-19 era.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the pervasive MBTI psychological preferences of childcare teachers and to examine the effects of MBTI psychological preferences and teachers' educational beliefs on childcare teachers'self-efficacy. The participants of this study were 141 childcare teachers. An independent samples t-test, Pearson's productive correlation, and step-wise multiple regression were employed to analyze the data. The results are as follows: First, Depending on the MBTI psychological preferences trends in childcare teachers, there were differences in self-efficacy. Second, personality type Sensing(S) was positively correlated with preference for easy tasks. Personality type Thinking(T) was negatively correlated with behavioral education belief, and was positively correlated with interactional education belief, self-regulated efficacy and total score of self-efficacy. Personality type Judging(J) was positively correlated with interactional/maturational education belief and self-regulated efficacy. Third, interactional education belief and MBTI psychological preferences of childcare teachers had asignificant influence on self-efficacy.

  • We consider a consumer self-selection model in which a regulated firm faces two market segments with differing valuation of quality of telecommunication services and examine some economic implications from the behaviors of the firm. In the context of a regulated monopolist, even though the results depend on the degree of privatization, the firm could lower the quality of the low-end model and reduce the price of the high-end in order to alleviate cannibalization. This justifies the provision of universal service policy in the telecommunications market. Based on this self-selection model, we also analyze an extended model of product introduction and show that the monopolist will introduce new product with the same introduction time of social planner. However, when we consider competition among firms, the market equilibrium may not guarantee the efficient time of product introduction.

  • In this study, a men-tutoring model was applied to four second-year high school students in mathematics learning counseling that could cultivate cognitive and affective domains. By observing and analyzing the cases, we examined the effects of mathematics learning counseling on students' mathematical attitudes and self-regulated learning ability. The results of mentoring applied to mathematics learning counseling had a positive effect on reinforcing prerequisite learning, improving self-regulated learning ability, strengthening mathematical strategies, and inducing learning motivation and maintaining interest. We are looking forward to that men-tutoring can be used effectively for students who have difficulty learning mathematics.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the emotions of students toward using digital textbooks, and to examine the factors affecting the emotions. This study examined the relationship between individual characteristics and computer usage, students' emotions, and the perceived learning effects. For this study, 2,950 1st grade middle school students participated in a survey which measured individual characteristics, computer usage behavior, emotions toward using digital textbooks, and perceived learning effects of digital textbooks. The results showed that positive emotions toward using digital textbooks were higher than negative emotions. The students' positive emotions were most affected by intrinsic motivation, self-regulated learning, and student's use of computers for learning and entertainment. Similarly, perceived learning effects were positively correlated to intrinsic motivation and self-regulated learning, but the students' positive emotions towards using digital textbooks was the strongest predictor. Digital textbook efficacy was the most influential factor that affected the students' negative emotions, while computer addiction was associated with negative emotions.

  • This study aims towards developing design guidelines for teachers' professional development programs (PDP) that help to improve self-regulated learning skills through OER (Open Educational Resources). To achieve the research objective, first, literature review and case studies about famous OER collections were conducted, and from these reviews, twenty-six guidelines according to ten categories suggested by Zimmerman & Martinez-Pons were derived and finalized into fifteen items in nine categories through review of five experts. Based on the guidelines, a prototype of a teacher's PDP was implemented and evaluated by seven teachers. Results of the usability evaluation proved that the design strategies implemented in the prototype might contribute to improving teacher's self-regulated learning skills and helped to find the teacher's needs based on their PDP.

  • IPTV, a convergence service of broadcasting and communication, draws an attention as an educational media that provides various advantages including top quality of screen, easy access, and protection from harmful contents. In addition, a successful IPTV learning requires learners' active participations. Yet, the research on educational applications of IPTV is at the early stage focusing on teachers and developers' perspectives. Therefore, the present study conducted a survey on learners' current IPTV usage and intentions to use. Reflecting the results of the survey, we developed learner-centered IPTV learning scenarios based on self-regulated learning strategies and suggested its implementations.

  • According to this recent change of the educational stream, the researcher sought to find the relationship between the level of students' Self-Regulated Learning and the Knowledge Construction Process strategies they use to succeed at an educational on-line game, and attempt to make some suggestions on the design and use of educational on-line games in this study. In conclusion, the change in the education paradigm requires students to pursue and produce contextual knowledge by using various media and learning environments. Some theoretical backgrounds, related to situated learning theory and the use of supporting educational media, are necessary. As contextual educational media, On-line games can be expected to play the role of evoking fresh perspective towards all the aspects of education.
