Properties of self-compacted concrete incorporating basalt fibers: Experimental study and Gene Expression Programming (GEP) analysis

  • Inorganic basalt fiber (BF) is a novel sort of commercial concrete fiber which is made with basalt rocks. Previous studies have not sufficiently handled the behavior of self-compacted concrete, at elevated temperature, containing basalt fiber. Present endeavor covers experimental work to examine the characteristics of this material at high temperature considering different fiber content and applied temperature. Different tests were carried out to measure the mechanical properties such as compressive strength (fc), modulus of elasticity (E), Poisson's ratio, splitting tensile strength (fsplit), flexural strength (fflex), and slant shear strength (fslant) of HSC and hybrid concrete. Gene expression programming (GEP) was employed to propose new constitutive relationships depending on experimental data. It was noticed from the testing records that there is no remarkable effect of BF on the Poisson's ratio and modulus of elasticity of self-compacted concrete. The flexural strength of basalt fiber self-compacted concrete was not sensitive to temperature in comparison to other mechanical properties of concrete. Fiber volume fraction of 0.25% was found to be the optimum to some extend according to degradation of strength. The proposed GEP models were in good matching with the experimental results.

Activation of the Mating Pheromone Response Pathway of Lentinula edodes by Synthetic Pheromones

  • Pheromone (PHB)-receptor (RCB) interaction in the mating pheromone response pathway of Lentinula edodes was investigated using synthetic PHBs. Functionality of the C-terminally carboxymethylated synthetic PHBs was demonstrated by concentration-dependent induction of a mating-related gene (znf2) expression and by pseudoclamp formation in a monokaryotic strain S1-11 of L. edodes. Treatment with synthetic PHBs activated the expression of homeodomain genes (HDs) residing in the A mating type locus, and of A-regulated genes, including znf2, clp1, and priA, as well as genes in the B mating type locus, including pheromone (phb) and receptor (rcb) genes. The synthetic PHBs failed to discriminate self from non-self RCBs. PHBs of the B4 mating type (B4 PHBs) were able to activate the mating pheromone response pathway in both monokaryotic S1-11 and S1-13 strains, whose B mating types were B4 (self) and B12 (non-self), respectively. The same was true for B12 PHBs in the B4 (non-self) and B12 (self) mating types. The synthetic PHBs also promoted the mating of two monokaryotic strains carrying B4-common incompatible mating types ($A5B4{\times}A1B4$). However, the dikaryon generated by this process exhibited abnormally high content of hyphal branching and frequent clamp connections and, more importantly, was found to be genetically unstable due to overexpression of mating-related genes such as clp1. Although synthetic PHBs were unable to discriminate self from non-self RCBs, they showed a higher affinity for non-self RCBs, through which the mating pheromone response pathway in non-self cells may be preferentially activated.

동영상 UCC의 이용 동기와 만족에 관한 탐색적 연구 (Uses and Gratifications of User-Created Contents: Expressing Self with Self-Produced Video Clips)

  • 본 연구는 이용과 충족 접근을 통해 동영상 UCC의 이용 행태와 이용 동기를 파악하기 위해 수행되었다. 요인분석을 실시한 결과 '자기표현', '사생활 영유', '참여', '정보추구', '휴식', '오락'의 총 6개 요인이 도출되었으며, 이들 중 '자기표현'의 요인의 설명력이 높게 나타났다. 동영상 UCC 이용 후 만족도를 요인 분석한 결과 역시 '자기표현', '휴식', '정보추구', '사회의식', '오락'의 총 5개 요인이 추출되었다. 추출된 이용 동기의 요인 항목 중에서는 오락과 휴식 요인의 평균값이 높게 나타남을 알 수 있었다. 동영상 UCC의 이용 행태에 따른 만족도를 살펴보기 위하여 동영상 UCC 이용 시간과 동영상 UCC 제작 경험 여부를 변인으로 하여 추출된 각 만족 요인의 평균값을 비교하였다. 동영상 UCC의 이용 시간에 따른 만족도는 '자기표현', '휴식', '정보추구' 요인에서 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. '자기표현' 요인의 경우 전반적으로 동영상 UCC의 이용 시간이 증가할수록 만족도 역시 증가하는 경향을 보였으나 2시간 이상 동영상 UCC를 이용하는 경우 오히려 만족도가 줄어드는 것을 볼 수 있었다. 마찬가지로 '휴식'과 '정보추구' 요인에서도 동영상 UCC의 이용 시간이 증가함에 따라 만족도 역시 증가하는 경향을 보였다.

커뮤니케이션을 위한 모바일 이모티콘의 긍정적 사용행태연구: 남녀대학생을 중심으로 (Mobile Emoticon Use for Positive Behavior and Communication: Focusing on Male and Female College Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare college students' emoticon use for positive behavior and to analyze the impact of the factors. This study is consisted of 66 questions based on Social demographic characteristics, personality characteristics factors and both scales of emotional expression. The operational test was administered to 340 college students. In an effort to calibrate emoticon use of positive behavior, the results displayed significance differences depending on the gender and grade of the students. Women used more emoticons than men, and freshman used more emoticons than any other year of students. Women used more emoticons such as texts, images, and flash more than men. Students in their freshman year were shown to use more emoticons than students in other grade levels. Emotional expression was strongly related man with personality traits of integrity. Personality traits of sensitivity, openness, intimacy, and sincerity had a significant influence on the emotional expression. An emoticon is, therefore, be a useful tool to express their emotions. Male and female students with higher levels of congeniality had expressed more emotions that were self-defence ambivalent and concerned-relation ambivalent. However, in the case of the female students, those with higher levels of self-defence ambivalent emotional expressiveness had a lower usage of positive emoticons, while male students with higher levels of self-defence emotional expressiveness used more positive emoticons. Higher levels of congeniality among groups that use mobile emoticons with their parents, whether the frequency of use was high or low, were associated with higher levels of self-defence ambivalence and concerned-relation ambivalence. Those with higher levels of sincerity had low levels of self-defence ambivalence and concerned-relation ambivalence, and those with higher levels of concerned-relation ambivalence had higher levels of positive emoticon usage.

지시적 개별모래상자놀이를 통한 자아존중감 향상 프로그램개발 및 효과성 검증 -해체 다문화가족 아동을 중심으로- (Development of self-esteem enhancement program and effective evaluation through instructional sand box play -Focusing on Multicultural Family Children-)

  • 본 연구는 다양한 관계에서 위축되고 의사소통이나 표현의 어려움을 갖고 있는 해체 다문화가족 아동들을 대상으로, 이들의 자아존중감 향상을 위한 지시적 개별모래상자놀이 프로그램을 개발하고, 그 효과성을 살펴보는 데 목적이 있다. 양적분석 데이터 수집을 위해 지시적 개별모래상자놀이를 통한 프로그램 사전 사후에 점수를 비교하였고, 수집된 자료의 통계처리로 SPSS 18.0 Package 프로그램을 사용하였다. 질적 분석을 위해 회기 내 B아동의 언어적 변화를 자기표현척도에 위해 수집하고 분석하였다. 연구기간은 2017년 2월부터 5월까지 약 3개월간 총 12회기 개별 활동과 1회의 집단 활동, 1박2일의 가족캠프 활동으로 총 6명의 아동을 대상으로 단일집단 사전사후 설계의 방법을 활용하였으며, 본 연구의 주요결과는 양적으로 지시적 개별모래상자놀이 프로그램을 통해 사회적 자아존중감 능력에서 z=-2,200으로서 p<.05보다 수준에서 유의미한 차이를 보였고, 질적으로 아동 B의 회기별 언어적 표현이 회기가 진행될수록 긍정적 표현이 증가하고, 부정적 표현은 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 무엇보다도 주제를 제시하는 지시적 개별 모래 상자의 접근방법과 더불어 가장 안정적 환경인 아동의 집으로 방문하는 과정이 해체 다문화가족 아동의 자아존중감 향상을 증가시키는 효과성을 보이는 것을 의미한다. 본 프로그램을 바탕으로 하여 다양한 내담자 특성에 따라 지시적 접근방법을 통한 이동형 개별적 모래상자 프로그램으로 가는 전초적인 기본 틀이 마련 될 것이다.

Detecting cell cycle-regulated genes using Self-Organizing Maps with statistical Phase Synchronization (SOMPS) algorithm

  • Developing computational methods for identifying cell cycle-regulated genes has been one of important topics in systems biology. Most of previous methods consider the periodic characteristics of expression signals to identify the cell cycle-regulated genes. However, we assume that cell cycle-regulated genes are relatively active having relatively many interactions with each other based on the underlying cellular network. Thus, we are motivated to apply the theory of multivariate phase synchronization to the cell cycle expression analysis. In this study, we apply the method known as "Self-Organizing Maps with statistical Phase Synchronization (SOMPS)", which is the combination of self-organizing map and multivariate phase synchronization, producing several subsets of genes that are expected to have interactions with each other in their subset (Kim, 2008). Our evaluation experiments show that the SOMPS algorithm is able to detect cell cycle-regulated genes as much as one of recently reported method that performs better than most existing methods.

한국.일본의 만화표현의 자유 규제 연구 (A Study on Freedom Constraints of Comics Expression of Korea & Japan)

  • 무한한 상상력과 소재의 다양성, 그리고 표현의 자유는 만화의 기본적인 요소이다. 만화 표현의 자유는 민주사회의 기본 덕목인 언론출판의 자유와 맞닿아 있으나, 공권력과 사회적 압력, 그리고 자율규제로 인해 아직까지도 표현에 제약을 받고 있다. 본 연구는 한국과 일본의 만화표현의 규제에 관한 사례를 연구대상으로 하고 문제점과 바람직한 표현의 자유에 대해 밝힌다.

화장의 사회.심리적 기대효과에 따른 화장이미지와 자의식에 관한 연구 (A Study on Makeup Image and Self-Consciousness According to the Level of Expected Socio-Psychological Effect of Makeup)

  • This study was made to investigate the differences in Korean woman's perceived makeup image and self-consciousness according to their expectation level in socio-psychological effect of makeup, and to gather information needed for the better understanding of cosmetics consumers and more effective marketing activities of cosmetics industries. Normative-descriptive survey method using questionnaire was employed for the present study. The survey was conducted in August 2001 and the sample consisted of 942 women between the ages of 18 and 50 residing in Seoul and Kyungi province. Data were analyzed by SPSS package. Factor analysis, ANOVA, and MANOVA were employed for the analysis of the data. The results are as follows : (1) Six factors emerged from the data related to the category of expected socio-psychological effect of makeup. Those factors were named as "increasing positiveness", "refreshment", "covering weakness", "self-expression", "consideration for others", and "the tool for self-change". Four factors were found in the category of makeup image, and the factors were named as "refinement", "nobility", "favorable impression ", and "personality ". (2) There was a tendency that those who highly expect the socio-psychological effect of makeup have more positive self-image. Considering this differences in self-image according to the level of expected socio-psychological effect of makeup. service activities for the consumers' positive opinion and attitude to the effect of makeup are needed, and it seems that those service activities will have a good influence on the consumers' emotional health. (3) Subjects with higher level of social anxiety showed higher expectations in refreshment, covering weakness and self-expression. Considering this trend, marketers have to make an constant effort for the variety of cosmetics and makeup manner by which consumers satisfy their expectation in makeup. It seems that the satisfaction of their expectation on the help of makeup effect will contribute to lessen social anxiety, and to get emotional stability. (4) Subjects with higher personal self-anxiety showed higher expectations of the effect. "increase of positiveness". 주장훈련 프로그램을 적용한 국내학위논문 분석 (An analysis of studies on Assertiveness Training reported in Korea from 1982 to 1997.)

  • The purpose of this study is analysis of 52 dissertations on assertiveness training which presented from 1982 to 1997 in Korea. It was diversified the research purpose to by 1) time of publication or presentation 2) research design, characteristics of subjects used in each study 3) related concepts, the effects of nursing interventions according to related concepts 4) the effects of nursing interventions according to the subjects 5) the effects of nursing interventions according to the frequency and the period of assertiveness training 6) the effects of nursing interventions according to the group size. 7) the effects of nursing interventions according to the necessary time per round. Findings obtained in the study were as follows : 1. At the point of the numbers of studies presented by year, the number of the studies tend to increase, especially the most plentiful papers were presented during five years from 1991 to 1995. 2. Research design of the studies belong to experimental research. The subjects of research consists of 5 Nursing related subjects and 47 Non-nursing related subjects so that Non-nursing related subjects contain much large proportion. 3. When studies were classified by the related concepts, they were classified that 17 studies were by assertiveness & assertive behaviour, 15 ones anxiety, 9 ones self & ego, 7 ones depression. It can be inferred that studies related to assertive behaviour, self & ego, sociality and power of learning were increasing. Otherwise, studies related to anxiety, depression, aggression, shyness and anguish were decreasing. 4. At the point of the nursing intervention effect by the subjects, the concepts of assertive behavior, feeling of self-respect and sociality were increasing, but the concepts of conflict and interpersonal stress were decreasing and the concepts of anxiety and sociality were ineffective in the subjects related Nursing. On the contrary, the concepts of assertive behavior, sociality and personalty were increasing, but the concepts of anxiety, depression, aggression, shyness, self-estranged feeling were decreasing and the concepts of assertive behavior, aggression, personalty, power of learning, anxiety, self-concepts and self-expression were ineffective in the subjects related Non-Nursing. 5. 18 studies can be found, which investigated 10 times for 5 weeks from the point of the nursing intervention effect by the times and the period of assertiveness training. In case of over 5 times of assertiveness training, assertiveness, assertive behavior and personality(tranquility, depression) increased. In 6 times, feeling of self-respect & egorespect increased but depression, interpersonal stress and anxiety decreased. In over 10 times, shyness, shame and feeling of self-estrangement decreased. In over 12 times, interpersonal anxiety decreased. 6. In the event of nursing intervention effect by the size of the group, it was greatest within 10 persons in 21 studies. In case of within 10 to 20, only feeling of self-expression were ineffective. Particularly, in case of over 31 persons, there were no ineffective concepts. 7. At the viewpoint of nursing intervention effect by the necessary time of one time, it was greatest within 1 to 2 hours in 32 studies. In case of within 1hour, aggression, power of learning and assertiveness were ineffective. In case of within 1 to 2 hours, assertive behavior, self-expression, personality and anxiety were ineffective. Particularly, in case of within 2 to 3 hours, there were no ineffective concepts.

Korean Genderless Fashion Consumers' Self-image and Identification

  • The "genderless fashion" style adopted by 20 to 30-year-olds in Korea cannot be ignored in the consumer fashion code. This study investigated self-images of Korean genderless fashion consumers through in-depth interviews. Interview analyses confirmed that Korean genderless fashion consumers express their self-image through clothing. As the theoretical framework, this study used Lacan's concept of desire to classify the types of self-image consumers want to express. The results are classified into three subject types: those who pursue self-fulfillment, those who pursue fulfillment from others, and those who pursue endless fulfillment through a self-image. This reflects various factors and the subjects' desires. Further, a subject's desire to present a specific self-image was an important factor in understanding the genderless fashion style. The study results revealed that modern fashion is an "unconscious" field of self-expression that crucially reflects individual desires. The study also contributes to the understanding of the concept of self-image at large.
