  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: As watching food-related programs has become very popular among the young generation in Korea, this study sought to compare the Mukbang- and Cookbang-watching status of university students with their dietary life. SUBJECTS/METHODS: The participants were 380 students who were not majoring in food and nutrition at a university in Gyeonggi, Korea. Based on self- reports, the participants were grouped according to their frequency of watching Mukbang or Cookbang: frequent-watching (FW) 21.1% and 5.3%, respectively; moderate-watching (MW) 43.9% and 27.9%, respectively; and not-watching (NW) 35.0% and 66.8% respectively. RESULTS: In the FW group, up to 88.8% and 70.0% of participants reported watching Mukbang and Cookbang, respectively, ≥ 3 days/week. Almost all participants in the FW and MW groups reported intention to keep watching these shows. The most frequent watching route was "YouTube" and the most important criterion to select a program was "food". In the case of Mukbang, but not Cookbang, the participants in the FW group scored their diet significantly worse than those in the NW group (P < 0.05). A greater proportion of participants felt that watching Cookbang improved their diets rather than worsened them (14.3% vs. 0.8%, respectively), while more participants said that watching Mukbang worsened their diets rather than improved them (8.1% vs. 2.4%, respectively). In both cases, greater differences were shown in the FW groups compared to the MW groups (P < 0.05 and P < 0.01 for Cookbang and Mukbang, respectively). Moreover, the participants answered that Mukbang-watching prompted them to eat more of less desirable food, such as through eating out and purchasing convenient and delivered foods, whereas Cookbang-watching made them want to cook more of their own food. CONCLUSIONS: Our results suggested that Korean university students who frequently watch Mukbang, but not Cookbang, may be a nutritionally vulnerable group that needs attention.

  • Mechanical alloying behavior of the PbTe intermetallic compound, which is used for thermoelectric generation, has been investigated with milling time and ball-to-powder weight ratio. Formation of PbTe alloy was completed by mechanical alloying of the as-mixed Pb and Te powders for 2 minutes at ball-to-powder weight ratio of 2 : 1. In situ measurement of the abrupt temperature rise during the ball milling process indicated that the PbTe intermetallic compound was formed by a self-sustained reaction rather than diffusional reactions. Lattice constant of PbTe alloy fabricated by mechanical alloying, 0. 6462nm, was not varied with milling time and ball-to-powder weight ratio. This value of the lattice parameter is in excellent agreement with 0.6459nm, which was reported for PbTe powders processed by melting and grinding.

  • Emergency lights and exit signs are an indispensable part of safety precautions for effective evacuation in case of emergency in public buildings. These emergency sign indicates safe escape routes and emergency doors, using an internationally recognizable sign. However visibility of those signs drops drastically in case of emergency situations like fire smoke, etc. and loss of visibility causes serious problems for safety evacuation. This paper propose a novel emergency light and exit sign built-in with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Beacon to assist the emergency self-guiding evacuation using devices for crisis and emergency management to avoid panic condition inside the buildings. In this approach, the emergency light and exit sign with the BLE beacons deployed in the indoor environments and the smart devices detect their indoor positions, direction to move, and next exit sign position from beacon messages and interact with map server in the Internet / Intranet over the available LTE and/or Wi-Fi network connectivity. The map server generate an optimal emergency exit path according to the nearest emergency exit based on a novel graph generation method for less route computation for each smart device. All emergency exit path data interfaces among three system components, the emergency exit signs, map server, and smart devices, have been defined for modular implementation of our emergency evacuation system. The proposed exit sign experimental system has been deployed and evaluated in real-time building environment thoroughly and gives a good evidence that the modular design of the proposed exit sign system and a novel approach to compute emergency exit path route based on the BLE beacon message, map server, and smart devices is competitive and viable.

  • Recently, full-duplex communications has been considered as one of the most promising techniques for net-generation mobile communication system. In this paper, we propose a compressed sensing based signal detection technique for full-duplex generalized spatial modulation (FD-GSM) systems. In FD-GSM systems, some antennas are used for signal transmission according to input data and the otehrs are used for detecting signals received over the same frequency band. The self-interference (SI) is assumed to be completely removed by help for the recently proposed SI cancellation techniques. The proposed signal detection technique significantly outperforms the conventional ones in terms of symbol error rate (SER). We will investigate the optimal number of used antennas in FD-GSM systems.

  • To prevent the ozonosphere from being destroyed by Halon, it is an urgent task to find out Halon replacement. As one of the replacements water mist have showed broad applications by its advantages: little pollution to environment (not destroying the ozone layer or bring green house effect), extinguishing fire quickly, consuming a small quantity of water and having little damage to the protected objects. The methods of generating water mist strongly influence fire suppression effectiveness, which determine the cone angle, drop size distribution, flux uniformity, and momentum of the generating spray. The traditional water mist nozzle included pressure jet nozzles, impingement nozzles and twin-fluid nozzles. All of them have more or less disadvantages for fire suppression. Therefore, many research institutes and corporations are taking up with innovations in mist generation. This article provided some recent studies in State Key Laboratory of Fire Science (SKLFS) of University of Science and Technology of China. SKLFS have investigated new methods of generating water mist (i.e. effervescent atomization and ultrasonic atomization). and self developed a series of nozzles and developed advanced DPIVS (Digital Particle Image Velocimetry and Sizing) technique. Characteristics of water mist (the distribution of droplet sizes, flux density, spray dynamics and cone angle) produced by these nozzles were measured under different conditions (work pressure, nozzle geometry, etc.) using LDV/APV and DPTVS systems. A series of experiments were performed to study the fire suppression effectiveness in different fire scenario (different kindsof the fuel, fire size and ventilation conditions). The fire extinguishing mechanisms of water mist was also discussed.

  • The importance of protection for data and information is increasing by the rapid development of information communication and network. And the concern for protecting private information is also growing due to the increasing demand for lots of services by users. Asymmetric cryptosystem is the mainstream in encryption system rather than symmetric cryptosystem by above reasons. But asymmetric cryptosystem is restricted in applying fields by the reason it takes more times to process than symmetric cryptosystem. In this paper, encryption system which executes authentication works of asymmetric cryptosystem by means of symmetric cryptosystem. The proposed cryptosystem uses an algorithms combines that combines block cipherment with stream cipherment and has a high stability in aspect of secret rate by means of transition of key sequence according to the information of plaintext while symmetric/asymmetric cryptosystem conducts encipherment/deciphermeent using a fixed key. Consequently, it is very difficult to crack although unauthenticator acquires the key information. So, the proposed encryption system which has a certification function of asymmetric cryptosystem and a processing time equivalent to symmetric cryptosystems will be highly useful to authorize data or exchange important information.

  • Spinning detonations propagating in a circular tube were numerically investigated with a one-step irreversible reaction model governed by Arrhenius kinetics. Activation energy is used as parameter as 10, 20, 27 and 35, and the specific heat ratio and the heat release are fixed as 1.2 and 50. The time evolution of the simulation results was utilized to reveal the propagation mechanism of single-headed spinning detonation. The track angle of soot record on the tube wall was numerically reproduced with various levels of activation energy, and the simulated unique angle was the same as that of the previous reports. The maximum pressure histories of the shock front on the tube wall showed stable pitch at Ea=10, periodical unstable pitch at Ea=20 and 27 and unstable pitch consisting of stable, periodical unstable and weak modes at Ea=35, respectively. In the weak mode, there is no Mach leg on the shock front, where the pressure level is much lower than the other modes. The shock front shapes and the pressure profiles on the tube wall clarified the mechanisms of these stable and unstable modes. In the stable pitch at Ea=10, the maximum pressure history on the tube wall remained nearly constant, and the steady single Mach leg on the shock front rotated at a constant speed. The high and low frequency pressure oscillations appeared in the periodical unstable pitch at Ea=20 and 27 of the maximum pressure history. The high frequency was one cycle of a self-induced oscillation by generation and decay in complex Mach interaction due to the variation in intensity of the transverse wave behind the shock front. Eventually, sequential high frequency oscillations formed the low frequency behavior because the frequency behavior was not always the same for each cycle. In unstable pitch at Ea=35, there are stable, periodical unstable and weak modes in one cycle of the low frequency oscillation in the maximum pressure history, and the pressure amplitude of low frequency was much larger than the others. The pressure peak appeared after weak mode, and the stable, periodical unstable and weak modes were sequentially observed with pressure decay. A series of simulations of spinning detonations clarified that the unsteady mechanism behind the shock front depending on the activation energy.
