Death of a Salesman is centered on Willy Loman trying to achieve the American dream and taking his family along for the ride. This paper explores the meaning of his suicide in the work through the Adorno's theory on the individual's reification and commodity by an exchange value in the capitalism and argues that Bourdieu's capital classification shows the cause of his tragic decision. Reification refers to "the structural process whereby the commodity form permeates life in capitalist society." and Adorno called the reification of consciousness an epiphenomenon. The social-psychological level in Adorno's diagnosis serves to demonstrate the effectiveness and pervasiveness of late capitalist exploitation. According to Bourdieu, cultural capital can exist three forms: in the embodied state, in the objectifed state and in the instituionalized state. He states embodied capital is argued to be the most significant influence; however unlike other forms of capital (social, economic, etc.) obtaining embodied capital is largely out of the individuals' control as it is developed from birth. In conclusion, I suggest Death of a Salesman can be interpreted as a text criticizing the internalization of the subject, which is the result of the self-destructive mechanism of the subject in the logic of modern subject formation.

The aim of this essay was to investigate Marlow's desire for constructing enlightenment subject of knowledge and power sustained by the collusion of imperialism and patriarchy in Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness. Marlow's narrative, based on his journey up the river in Africa to retrieve Kurtz, attempts to conceptualize himself as the subject of the enlightenment reason and rationality. In the novella, collusive network of ideologies of empire and gender contributes to the making of a Western Enlightenment subject. Marlow eulogizes himself for realizing the harsh realities of imperialism, political domination and economic exploitation of the natives in Africa. However, Marlow is a colonial subject who has been ruled by the hierarchical system of thought in the Western logocentrism. He is not aware that his narrative has already been infiltrated by the ideological discourse of the totalitarian enlightenment. His narrative in effect is not a self-congratulatory testimony to truth and realities but a narcissistic and self-defeating document. Marlow unconsciously employs the totalitarian ideologies of empire and gender in order to relegate the African natives to the inhuman existence and to consign women to the sphere of illusion.

Under the inhumane oppression of imperialism, the Third World's political violence has been often represented as an immediate and explosive one with an instant, concentrated visibility. Yet the ecological and psychological exploitation of the Third-World countries by empires, as Rob Nixon insists, shows the relative invisibility of slow violence. This paper is to reveal this slow violence of the marginalized areas symbolized as the lowland. Although Arne Naess' deep ecology promotes the inherent worth of living beings regardless of their instrumental utility to human needs. this paper deals with three postcolonial ecological textbooks which criticize the white-centered deep ecology: Amitav Ghosh's The Glass Palace, Jhumpa Lahiri's The Lowland, and Barbara Kingsolver's The Poisonwood Bible. Through postcolonial critical study, this paper finds out that all these three works have some themes in common. First, these postcolonial works assume a shape of family saga which is parallel to the slow violence of ecological and psychological plundering of empires in the postcolonial countries. Second, like the mangroves which have a tenacious hold on life, these postcolonial people rather overcome the heterogenic challenge with the sturdy and tough mind than defeated. Third, the native people's ethics of earth functions as the stronghold for their respectable lifestyle in their indigenous historicity. Finally, as a big fat brother, the Americanized globalization or neoliberalism is warned as the neocolonialism which is often shown as the disguised pattern of greenwashing. Namely, the people's self-enhancement is always prior to the imperialistic development or neoliberalism in the postcolonial ecological texts which sharply contrast the native's life consciousness and the empire's development theory.

The research is aimed at finding out the relationship between vocational stress and willingness to engage in vocational stress, which measures vocational stress and the ability to cope with the job, and how the job stress relates to job mobility. First of all, the job stress and willingness to transfer jobs related to sexual harassment related agencies have a positive correlation, while self-exploitation, job stress, and willingness to move jobs have shown negative correlation. Second, the self-assessment of self-assessment of ego resilience has served as a complete parameter in relation to the relationship between employee motivation and willingness to leave the job, which is the job of occupational duties. Based on this study, it is important to note that self-reference is an important factor in determining the role of job stress in the workforce because of its self-reference of job stress and motivation in relation to job stress.

Details of carrier dynamics in self-assembled quantum dots (QDs) with a particular attention to nonradiative processes are not only interesting for fundamental physics, but it is also relevant to performance of optoelectronic devices and the exploitation of nanocrystals in practical applications. In general, the possible processes in such systems can be considered as radiative relaxation, carrier transfer between dots of different dimensions, Auger nonradiactive scattering, thermal escape from the dot, and trapping in surface and/or defects states. Authors of recent studies have proposed a mechanism for the carrier dynamics of time-resolved photoluminescence CdTe (a type II-VI QDs) systems. This mechanism involves the activation of phonons mediated by electron-phonon interactions. Confinement of both electrons and holes is strongly dependent on the thermal escape process, which can include multi-longitudinal optical phonon absorption resulting from carriers trapped in QD surface defects. Furthermore, the discrete quantized energies in the QD density of states (1S, 2S, 1P, etc.) arise mainly from ${\delta}$-functions in the QDs, which are related to different orbitals. Multiple discrete transitions between well separated energy states may play a critical role in carrier dynamics at low temperature when the thermal escape processes is not available. The decay time in QD structures slightly increases with temperature due to the redistribution of the QDs into discrete levels. Among II-VI QDs, wide-gap CdZnTe QD structures characterized by large excitonic binding energies are of great interest because of their potential use in optoelectronic devices that operate in the green spectral range. Furthermore, CdZnTe layers have emerged as excellent candidates for possible fabrication of ferroelectric non-volatile flash memory. In this study, we investigated the optical properties of CdZnTe/ZnTe QDs on Si substrate grown using molecular beam epitaxy. Time-resolved and temperature-dependent PL measurements were carried out in order to investigate the temperature-dependent carrier dynamics and the activation energy of CdZnTe/ZnTe QDs on Si substrate.

This study was to explore the life history of an elderly woman who had six times of imprisonment and entered a Samchung re-education camp. This study of life history followed the analysis of Mandelbaum(1973) pointing three perspectives of life: dimensions, turnings, and adaptations. Participant's dimensions of life were exploitation of labor, hostess life for U.S. military, prison life, Samchung re-education camp, marriage with the disabled, life of a farm worker. Turnings of life were serving as a maid, confinement of prison, life of hostess for living, being remanded to Samchung re-education camp by state violence, marriage and divorce, denial of social welfare service. Adaptations of life were downright adaptation in early life, exaggerated act in juvenile reformatory, prostituted women as a simple fortune-maker, adaption as a good wife and wise mother after marriage, resistive adaption as a self-employed. and farm worker. Based upon this results outcome, discussions and implications were suggested.

This study suggests that lifelong education is regarded as a support system for lifelong learning, which includes all activities of educational characteristics, which ultimately has the goal of universalization of self - education. The goal is to successfully adapt to life. Statements supporting the need for lifelong learning have been found to be based primarily on the impossibility of this system to provide sufficient education to accelerate social change and to last a lifetime. The obstacles to implementation included inertia, resistance to change, motivation and cost. Opponents are likely to regard lifelong education as an attempt to expand compulsory education for exploitation and control purposes. This study found that there is an important consensus among supporters, but many questions remain. The full feasibility of lifelong education is considered to be far removed, and lifelong education should be interpreted as a source of direction and purpose, and ideals that society should aim for.

This study aims to explore the relative influences of covert narcissism and evaluative concerns perfectionism on SNS addiction tendency, and the mediating effect of evaluative concerns perfectionism in the influence of covert narcissism on SNS addiction tendency of undergraduates. The results of this study can be summarized in the following. First, control failure and disturbance of adaptive, avoidance of negative emotion, and virtual life orientation and withdrawal were best accounted for by exploitation/self-centeredness. On the other hand, absorption and tolerance was best accounted for by hypersensitivity/vulnerability in undergraduates. Also, SNS addiction tendency was accounted for by only socially prescribed perfectionism of evaluative concerns perfectionism. Second, evaluative concerns perfectionism partially mediated the relations between covert narcissism and absorption and tolerance and between covert narcissism and virtual life orientation and withdrawal, while it didn't mediate the relations between covert narcissism and control failure and disturbance of adaptive and between covert narcissism and avoidance of negative emotion.

This study explored the effects of adoption of innovation and resistant attitude on farmers' perspectives and also was deigned for developing prompt spread of ICT and facilitating stronghold support center in the convergence agricultural field. To closely examine the variation for exploitation intent of stronghold support center in the ICT convergence agriculture, 110 farmers who had experienced introduction for ICT hybrid environmental control system were participated in the study using the questionnaire. The results revealed the several findings. Firstly, there was no significant differences between the self-efficacy such as confidence of application technology for farmers and adoption of innovative technique (p=.075). Secondly, suitability of using ICT hybrid environmental control system showed a significant difference in the adoption of innovation (p=2.750) while complexity of using ICT hybrid environmental control system indicated the negative effects on the adoption of innovation (p=3.591). Thirdly, introduction cost of ICT hybrid environmental control system showed the negative effects in the adoption of innovation (p=2.278), whereas adoption of innovation indicated a significant difference in the stronghold support center in the convergence agricultural field (p=5.500). Finally, resistance of ICT adoption of innovative technique revealed the negative effects on the stronghold support center in the ICT convergence agriculture. This study, therefore, demonstrated that educational assistance for acquiring ICT technique, suggestion of influences for productivity, and development for skills were needed to extend ICT convergence technology. Additionally, the study indicated the strategies related with promotion as well as ways of minimizing introduction cost.

This study examined the mediation effects of covert narcissism on the relationship between game addiction and aggression. For this study, 578 middle school boys in Chungcheong areas were included in the analysis. The results are as follows. First, correlation analyses showed that game addiction was positively correlated with covert narcissism and aggression. In addition, covert narcissism showed positive correlation with aggression. Second, step-wise regression analyses were conducted to examine the relative size that sub-factors of game addiction and covert narcissism explained aggression. It could be known that three factors of game addiction(tolerance, disregard of everyday life, damage of control) and two factors of covert narcissism(exploitation/self-centeredness, oversensitivity/vulnerability) showed significant explanatory power for aggression. Third, the Structural Equation Model was designed in which factors of game addiction and covert narcissism with significant explanatory power for aggression were included. Covert narcissism was found to partially mediate the influence of the boys' game addiction on aggression. Finally implications of this study and directions for future research were discussed.
