  • Since the seminal work of Perrin, physicists have understood in the context of kinetic theory how ink slowly diffuses in a glass of water. The fluctuations of the stochastic forces acting on water molecules drive the diffusion of the ink in the fluid. This is the archetype of a process described by the so-called fluctuation-dissipation theorem, which universally relates the rate of diffusion to the power spectrum of the fluctuating forces. For stars in galaxies, a similar process occurs but with two significant differences, due to the long-range nature of the gravitational interaction: (i) for the diffusion to be effective, stars need to resonate, i.e. present commensurable frequencies, otherwise they only follow the orbit imposed by their mean field; (ii) the amplitudes of the induced fluctuating forces are significantly boosted by collective effects, i.e. by the fact that, because of self-gravity, each star generates a wake in its neighbours. In the expanding universe, an overdense perturbation passing a critical threshold will collapse onto itself and, through violent relaxation and mergers, rapidly converge towards a stationary, phase-mixed and highly symmetric state, with a partially frozen orbital structure. The object is then locked in a quasi-stationary state imposed by its mean gravitational field. Of particular interests are strongly responsive colder systems which, given time and kicks, find the opportunity to significantly reshuffle their orbital structure towards more likely configurations. This presentation aims to explain this long-term reshuffling called gravity-driven secular evolution on cosmic timescales, described by extended kinetic theory. I will illustrate this with radial migration, disc thickening and the stellar cluster in the galactic centre.

  • In the present work, we carried out a molecular dynamics study of the kinetic properties of the FLiNaK molten salt, as well as a detailed study of the structure of this salt melt. The high value of the self-diffusion coefficient of fluorine ions is due to the large number of Coulomb repulsions between the most numerous negative ions. The calculated values of shear viscosity are in good agreement with the experimental data, as well as with the reference data obtained on the basis of finding the most reliable data. The total and partial functions of the radial distribution are calculated. According to the statistical analysis, fluorine ions have the greatest numerical diversity in the environment of similar ions, and sodium ions with the lowest representation in FLiNaK, have the least such diversity. For the subsystem of fluorine ions, the rotational symmetry of the fifth order is the most pronounced. Some of the fluorine ions form linear chains consisting of three atoms, which are not formed for positive ions. The results of the work give an understanding of the behavior molten FLiNaK under operating conditions in a molten salt reactor and will find application in future studies of this molten salt.

  • Cosmic-ray protons (CRp) are efficiently produced at starburst galaxies (SBGs), where the star formation rate (SFR) rate is high. In this talk, we present estimates of gamma-ray and neutrino emissions from nearby SBGs, M82, NGC253, and Arp220. Inside the starburst nucleus (SBN), CRp are accelerated at supernova remnant (SNR) shocks as well as at stellar wind (SW) termination shocks, and their transport is governed by the advection due to starburst-driven wind and diffusion mediated by turbulence. We here model the momentum distributions of SNR and SW-produced CRp with single or a double power-law forms. We also employ two different diffusion models, where CRp are resonantly scattered off large-scale turbulence in SBN or self-excited waves driven by CR streaming instability. We then calculate gamma-ray/neutrino fluxes. The observed gamma-ray fluxes by Fermi-LAT, Veritas, and H.E.S.S are well reproduced with double power-law distribution for SNR-produced CRp and the CRp diffusion by self-excited turbulence. The estimated neutrino fluxes are <~10-3 of the atmospheric neutrino flux in the energy range of Eneutrino <~100 GeV and <~10-1 of the IceCube point source sensitivity in the energy range of Eneutrino >~60 TeV.

  • This study investigated the self wrapping made possible through the anonymity of cuber-space. According to the analysis of the data, which were collected from the online for 2 days, 2,168 respondents were grouped into three types: Those maintaining the strong sense of identity achievement), 53.8%, those experiencing confusion(identity diffusion), 38.3%, and those losing the sense of identity(foreclosure), 7.9%. Among the general respondents, it was reported that the case of sex wrapping was 11.4%, that of occupation, 40.1%, and that of marital status, 60.6%. Specially 11.4% of the sex wrapper took heterogeneous gender identity, while 7% performed dual sex roles. The rate of gender wrapping of female respondents was higher than that of male ones, which reflects female respondents' longing for male sex. Self-disparity between cyber-space and virtual-space was related with the type of self-identity and gender-identity. The rate of self-disparity between cuber-space and virtual-space was 9%. If it occurred continuously, it may cause individual mental division and maladjustment.

  • The proton conserving effect of diffusion with self-aligned SiO2-cladding is investigated by infrared transmission spectra. Based on the proton conserving effect, proton-diffused channel waveguides with self-aligned SiO2-cladding substrates. And an electro-optic cutoff modulator with self aligned electrode that utilizes a single-mode proton-diffused channel waveguide in a Y-cut XX-propagating LiNbO3 substrate is fabricated. Over 20 dB extinction has been achieved with applied voltage of 15V.

  • This study examines the factors affecting the usage and diffusion of mobile easy payment services which is fast growing industry recently. After wide reviewing previous research about mobile payment, Some factors are identified as the factors influencing intention to use mobile easy payment services-confidence, innovativeness, mobile self-efficacy, relative advantage- through several mediating factors- perceived ease, perceived usefulness, perceived risk. Empirical study for a research model showed confidence, mobile self-efficacy and relative advantage are effective to the intention to use mobile easy payment services via perceived usefulness and perceived risk. Based on the results of the study, some practical implication for customer retention and acquisition are suggested.

  • Bending deformation of an ionic polymer actuator(IPA) on applied low electric field across its thickness is dominated by electroosmosis of hydrated ions and self-diffusion of free water molecules. In the study by Popovic et al., two processes are assumed to occur sequentially in the way that fast electroosmosis is followed by self-diffusion and finite element formulation for the basic field equations are proposed. However the motions of hydrated ions and water molecules occur at the same time. In this study, those two processes are considered simultaneously and finite element formulation is conducted for the basic field equations governing electrochemical response of an IPA. Some numerical studies for IPA are carried out in order to show the validity of the present formulation.

  • We have presented the results of thermodynamic, structural and dynamic properties of liquid benzene, toluene, and p-xylene in canonical (NVT) ensemble at 293.15 K by molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. The molecular model adopted for these molecules is a combination of the rigid body treatment for the benzene ring and an atomistically detailed model for the methyl hydrogen atoms. The calculated pressures are too low in the NVT ensemble MD simulations. The various thermodynamic properties reflect that the intermolecular interactions become stronger as the number of methyl group attached into the benzene ring increases. The pronounced nearest neighbor peak in the center of mass g(r) of liquid benzene at 293.15 K, provides the interpretation that nearest neighbors tend to be perpendicular. Two self-diffusion coefficients of liquid benzene at 293.15 K calculated from MSD and VAC function are in excellent agreement with the experimental measures. The self-diffusion coefficients of liquid toluene also agree well with the experimental ones for toluene in benzene and for toluene in cyclohexane.
