Effects of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation(TENS), Self-Stretching and Functional Massage on the Muscle Fatigue by Maximum Muscular Strength

  • The present study purposed to examine the effects of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, self-stretching and functional massage on the recovery of muscle contraction force for muscle fatigue caused by sustained isotonic contraction. The subjects of this study were 45 healthy students. They were divided into transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation group(n=15), self-stretching group(n=15) and functional massage group(n=15), and using Primus RS. We observed the pattern of changes in maximal voluntary isometric contraction force(MVIC) after causing muscle fatigue in quadriceps femoris muscle through sustained isotonic contraction. Maximal voluntary isometric contraction force(MVIC) were greatly increased after transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, self-stretching and functional massage. In the comparison of recovery rate of muscle contraction force for muscle fatigue caused by sustained isotonic contraction among the treatment groups, it did not show any significant differences. However, it showed that each treatment may be effective in recovery of muscle fatigue caused by sustained isotonic contraction.

  • Solid propellants allow thrusters to be light-weight, com-pact and robust because they require neither tank nor valve, Moreover, the solid propellant will not leak, spill or slosh. Consequently, the solid propellant thruster is one of the potential candidates for the microthruster. On the other hand, the control of the solid propellant combustion is difficult, since the conventional solid propellant continues to bum until all the stored propellant is consumed. Although particular devices like thrust reverser were designed to control the combustion, these devices were rarely used in the practical rocket motors. These devices rise thruster weight as well as complicate the thruster operation. In this study, a solid propellant microthruster using laser sustained combustion was designed in order to develop a high-efficiency microthruster overcoming the previously-mentioned difficulty. This designed thruster has semiconductor lasers and non-self-combustible solid propellants in addition to the conventional solid propellant thruster. In this designed thruster, the semiconductor laser controls the combustion of the non-self-combustible solid propellant. In order to demonstrate that the solid propellant combustion is controllable with laser, some non-self-combustible solid propellants were irradiated with the laser at a back-pressure of about 1㎪. A 40-W class Neodymium Yttrium Aluminum Garnet (ND:YAG) laser was used as a tentative alternate to the semiconductor laser. This experiment has shown that the solid propellant combustion was controllable with 10- W class laser irradiation.

The Mediating Effect of Self-Regulatory Skills on the Relationship between Mothers' Parenting Attitude and School Adjustment

  • After experiencing school closures and online learning caused by COVID-19, the important role of school education was reinforced. Elementary school is the foundation of life and allows students to develop both social and academic skills. The purpose of this study was to examine the mediational role of Self-Regulatory Skills (SRS) on the relationship between Maternal Parenting Attitude (MPA) and School Adjustment (SA) of elementary school students. A total of 99 students enrolled in an international school in Seoul, Korea from grades 3 to 6 participated in this study. Data were analyzed through Independent Sample T-Test, one way ANOVA, Multiple Regression Analysis, and Hierarchical Regression Analysis using the SPSS 23.0. The findings of the study were as follows. First, there is a difference between genders and among grades. Second, only acceptance was significantly related to school adjustment. Third, acceptance, strict control, and accepted control are significantly related to SRS. Fourth, Self-Regulatory Skills (Sustained Attention) fully mediate the relationship between Maternal Parenting Attitude (Acceptance) and School Adjustment (Academic Attitude/ Rule compliance). Educational implications for understanding the role of parenting attitude and future directions are discussed.

Stochastic Analysis of Self-sustained Oscillation Loop for a Resonant Accelerometer

  • In this paper, a nonlinear feedback system is analyzed for a surface micromachined resonant accelerometer. For this, a brief illustration of the plant dynamics is given. In the analysis, the periodic signal in the nonlinear feedback loop is obtained by the limit cycle point, which is best approximated via the describing function method. Considering the characteristic feature of plant dynamics, a simple phase shifted relay with finite slope is designed for the nonlinearity implementation. With a describing function for random plus sinusoidal input, we analyzed the effect of a white Gaussian noise on oscillation frequency. Finally, simulation and experimental result is given.

  • 가우스 잡음의 출현시 PWM 시스템의 안정도가 연구되었다. 일반 시스템은 종래의 서술 함수 방법을 이용할 때 비선형 소자와 선형 소자로 나누어진다. 등가 어드미턴스 개념이 이 시스템의 비선형 소자의 전달 특성을 구하는데 사용되었다. 이 논문에서는 가우스 잡음만이 존재하는 경우 자기 발진 조건이 유도되었고 그 결과를 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션으로 분석하였다. The stability of general pulse-width modulation system with Gaussian random disturbance was discussed . General system is divided into nonlinear and linear elements using the conventional describing function method. The concept of the equivalent admittance was used to find the transfer characteristic of the nonlinear element of the system. In this paper the self-sustained oscillation condition in the autonomous system was derived and the results was analyzed with computer simulation.

Aeroacoustic Computation of Cavity Flow in Self-Sustained Oscillations

  • A computational aero-acoustic (CAA) method is used to predict the tonal noise generated from a cavity of automobile door seals or gaps at low flow Mach numbers (A$\_$$\infty$/=0.077 and 0.147) In the present method, the acoustically perturbed Euler equations are solved with the acoustic source term obtained from the unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes calculations of the cavity flow in self-sustained oscillations. The aerodynamic and acoustic fields are computed for the Reynolds numbers based on the displacement thickness, Re$\_$$\delta$*/=850 and 1620 and their fundamental mode characteristics are investigated. The present method is also verified with the experimentally measured sound pressure level (SPL) spectra.

  • Periodic vortex separations generate periodic vertical forces acting on a trailing edge of an airfoil. When a natural frequency of the trailing edge of the airfoil is close to a vortex shedding frequency, an amplitude of the edge oscillation becomes maximal; it makes intensive noise called singing. Motion of the trailing edge may also feedback to the vortex shedding so that self-sustained oscillation appear, and a resonant frequency is locked in some interval of the speed of the incident flow. In this study, a theoretical model is proposed and applied for modeling an airfoil singing. Results are compared with experimental measurements which are carried out in an anechoic wind tunnel.

Second we simulate fluid-structure interaction of the wing with a flap using a commercial code, ANSYS-CFX, and investigate lift characteristics in a frequency domain.

  • A digital self-sustained phase shift modulation (DSSPSM) strategy that allows for good soft switching and dynamic response performance in the presence of step variations is presented in this paper. The working principle, soft switching characteristics, and voltage gain formulae of a LLC converter with DSSPSM have been provided separately. Furthermore, the method for realizing DSSPSM is proposed. Specifically, some key components of the proposed DSSPSM are carefully investigated, including a parameter variation analysis, the start-up process, and the zero-crossing capture of the resonant current. The simulation and experiment results verify the feasibility of the proposed control method. It is observed that the zero voltage switching of the switches and the zero current switching of the rectifier diodes can be easily realized in presence of step load variations.
