In this paper, the speech parameter fusion method is studied to improve the performance of the conventional emotion recognition system. For this purpose, the combination of the parameters that show the best performance by combining the cepstrum parameters and the various pitch parameters used in the conventional emotion recognition system are selected. Various pitch parameters were generated using numerical and statistical methods using pitch of speech. Performance evaluation was performed on the emotion recognition system using Gaussian mixture model(GMM) to select the pitch parameters that showed the best performance in combination with cepstrum parameters. As a parameter selection method, sequential feature selection method was used. In the experiment to distinguish the four emotions of normal, joy, sadness and angry, fifteen of the total 56 pitch parameters were selected and showed the best recognition performance when fused with cepstrum and delta cepstrum coefficients. This is a 48.9% reduction in the error of emotion recognition system using only pitch parameters.
In order to improve the accuracy of cell selection in heterogeneous cellular systems, this paper proposes a fuzzy multiple-objective decision-based cell selection (FMDCS) strategy. Since heterogeneous cellular systems have different access technologies and multiple traffic classes, the strategy adopts cell type, data rate, coverage, transmission delay, and call arrival rate as evaluation indices, and uses different weight vectors according to the traffic classes of the mobile host. Then, a fuzzy multiple-objective decision algorithm is applied to select the optimal cell from all candidates. This paper also gives an instance analysis and simulation. The instance analysis shows FMDCS makes different selections for different traffic classes. Simulation results of the after-handoff quality-of-service (QoS) show the selected cell can provide MH optimal service.

The purpose of this study is to improve the KESLI consortium by analyzing the status of participant organizations and their needs. A survey questionnaire including questions on consortium selection, management, and evaluation was distributed. The findings from the 179 responses indicate that the needs of the participants include issues related to the collection development policy, the cataloging of e-journals, user education, and evaluation. Therefore, KESLI should provide the following: (1) examples of collection development policy used for reference, (2) system development for e-journal cataloging, (3) materials and program guidelines for user education, and (4) education related to evaluation techniques for e-journal usages.
The problem of selection among competing models has been a fundamental issue in statistical data analysis. Good fits to data can be misleading since they can result from properties of the model that have nothing to do with it being a close approximation to the source distribution of interest (for example, overfitting). In this study we focus on the preference among models from a family of polynomial regressors. Three decades of research has spawned a number of plausible techniques for the selection of models, namely, Akaike's Finite Prediction Error (FPE) and Information Criterion (AIC), Schwartz's criterion (SCH), Generalized Cross Validation (GCV), Wallace's Minimum Message Length (MML), Minimum Description Length (MDL), and Vapnik's Structural Risk Minimization (SRM). The fundamental similarity between all these principles is their attempt to define an appropriate balance between the complexity of models and their ability to explain the data. This paper presents an empirical study of the above principles in the context of model selection, where the models under consideration are univariate polynomials. The paper includes a detailed empirical evaluation of the model selection methods on six target functions, with varying sample sizes and added Gaussian noise. The results from the study appear to provide strong evidence in support of the MML- and SRM- based methods over the other standard approaches (FPE, AIC, SCH and GCV).
A better selection model on management innovative enterprises is needed since the Korean government provides multi benefits to those selected enterprises. However, the selection model's propriety is suspicious because of the shortage of consideration of assessment items. In particular, the most important two assessment items, strategy and performance are suspected of multicollinearity because of high correlation scores. No consideration on multicollinearity among those items leads to erroneous selection which doubly counts the same components with different item names. The principle component analysis is applied to factor out the uncorrelated items. Using the resulted principle components, the new estimations are carried out. The comparison between estimated results from using principle components and non principle components shows that the present selection model overly considers the performance items compared to the real effect of items, which is a result of multicollinearity between performance and strategy.

Recommended book lists make 'a good book' known and help choose the books. Currently, the recommended book lists published by various institutions are primarily used as the selection tool for choosing children's and young adults' book in many libraries and schools. Considering this reality, I examined the present production condition of the recommended book lists and evaluated whether they were suitable as a selection tool. Afterwards, I suggested the development methods about how the recommended book lists will be developed for them to function as a selection tool.
This study addresses the evaluation criteria of multimedia authoring tools(MATs), the way which decision-maker can exclude outlier matrix from group using the concept of the compatibility index, and how AHP can be applied to the selection of MATs in a group decision-making environment. The AHP technique allows an evaluator to quantify the relative importance of elements at each hierarchy and to calculate the composite relative weights for each product(i.e. MATs). This decision process allows setting to priority of the MATs based on the AHP. The results indicated that technical ability of MATs was the most significant factor in affecting their decision, trailed by managerial efficiency and vendor support. To the experts, multimedia data support was the less important than development interface. Also, the results indicated that product A(0.510) was their first choice, trailed by product C(0.286) and B(0.204). Assessing the composite relative weights revealed that expert group's members were consistent with the rankings of decision variables(evaluation criteria variables) statistically in selecting their MATs. Therefore, we believed that expert group's members have achieved sufficient agreement to permit the use of geometric mean to average the group's preference without obscuring the differences of individual opinions.
The purpose of this study is to examine how nutritionists, principals and parents evaluated the importance and priorities of different selection factors for food materials suppliers in an attempt to suggest how to ensure the best supplier choice, since the selection of the best supplier was mandatory for the successful TQM of school food services. This study especially aims to develop priority alternatives based on relative rather than absolute assignments on selection of suppliers for school food service materials. To apply AHP, the selection factors of a food materials suppliers were grouped into five categories, which included quality, service, reliability, hygiene and price. And the five categories involved 28 elements. As the result, quality was considered most crucial on the whole, followed by service, reliability, hygiene and price; and food labeling in the category of quality evaluated as that of first priority in the totality evaluation elements.
The purpose of this study was to identify the problems related to the purchasing processes of school foodservices that should be corrected for the food service safety, by examining the purchasing processes and the status of supplier selection. A questionnaire was given to 300 dietitians working at self-operated food services. Ninety-eight responses, excluding incomplete answers, were used for the statistical analysis. The survey consisted of three parts: the general characteristics of the school foodservice and dietitian, purchasing processes and supplier selection, and the purchase specifications. We found that 84% of the contract was made by informal purchasing, and the contract period was 6 months or one year. For supplier selection, problems related to the document screening systems were the superficiality of the content(45.7%) and the absence or lack of clarity of the appraisal criteria(34.8%). The important factors for the facility and equipment standards of suppliers were included unclear evaluation methods for content(41.1%) and inappropriate appraisal lists(21.1%), while unclear evaluation methods for content(41.9%) and absence or lack of clarity of the appraisal criteria(20.4%) were the problems pertaining to the supplier evaluation checklist. When using the Food Labeling Standards to select suppliers, confirmation of the sell-by date and the storage method had the highest score at 3.85 out of 5. For supplier selection, only 25% of the contract was made by using the purchase specifications. The levels of satisfaction of with Kimchi and rice cakes suppliers were significantly different according to employment type and educational background, respectively. Depending on working experiences, satisfaction was significantly different for the use of document screening, as a standard for the selection and management of suppliers, and for the facility and equipment standards of suppliers, The use of purchase specifications was different by employment type, while the use of purchase specifications for contracts was different by working experience. These results imply that the specialization of suppliers is necessary to unsure food safety. Therefore, the objective methods to evaluate the suppliers should be developed by the government, and appropriate education programs for dietitians should be prepared to enhance the utilization of purchase specifications.
In this study, the authors evaluate the suitability of the candidate routes selected by the route selection method, which is developed by the authors, by combination of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Analytic Hierarchy Process. To evaluate the suitability of the candidate routes, from the viewpoint of the residents, we have considered element factors such as, population, household, aging situation, elevation, gradient, housing density and the Control Point. The results of this study are expected to assess the suitability of the candidate routes of the hillside transportation for the residents and examine the application limit of the route selection method.
