  • Scalable video coding can handle peer heterogeneity of P2P streaming applications, but there is still a lack of comprehensive studies on how to use it to improve video playback quality. In this paper we propose a capacity aware scalable video coding mechanism for P2P on demand streaming system. The proposed mechanism includes capacity based neighbor selection, adaptive data scheduling and streaming layer adjustment, and can enable each peer to select appropriate streaming layers and acquire streaming chunks with proper sequence, along with choosing specific peers to provide them. Simulation results show that the presented mechanism can decrease the system's startup and playback delay, and increase the video playback quality as well as playback continuity, and thus it provides a better quality of experience for users.

  • This paper presents a fault phase selection algorithm for transmission line protection by means of the symmetrical components. Accurate fault phase selection is necessary for collect functioning of transmission line relaying, particularly in Extra High Voltage (EHV) networks. The conventional phase selection algorithm used the phase difference between positive and negative sequence current excluding load current. But, it is difficult to abstract only fault current since we can not know the time which a fault occurs. The proposed algorithm can select the accurately fault phase using fault current contained pre-fault current.

  • Release planning for incremental software development is to select and assign features in sequence of releases along a specified planning horizon. It includes the technical precedence inherent in the features, the conflicting priorities as determined by the representative stakeholders, and the balance between required and available resources. The complexity of this consideration is getting more complicated when planning releases in software product lines. The problem is formulated as a precedence-constrained multiple 0-1 knapsack problem. In this research a genetic algorithm is developed for solving the release planning problems in software product lines as well as tests for the proposed solution methodology are conducted using data generated randomly.

  • Frequency-space domain full-wave tomography is a promising technique for delineating detailed subsurface structure with high resolution. However, this method requires criteria for the selection of a set of optimal temporal frequency components, to achieve stability in the sequence of inversion processes together with computational efficiency. We propose a method of selecting optimal temporal frequencies, based on wavenumber continuity. The proposed method is tested numerically and is shown to be able to select an optimal set of frequency components that are sufficient to image the anomalies.

  • The application of recombinant DNA technology has been remarkable and nearly replaced commonly used traditional methods. Traditional industrial microbiology long depended on the discovery of valuable strains and mutagenesis of such strains to improve its secretion capacity of enzymes and secondary metabolites on the industrial scale. Commodities included industrial enzymes and biopharmaceuticals. The purpose of genome manipulation by the crossing of different strains or genetic recombination of naked DNA to the genome is of increased production of valuable metabolites. We optimized a transformation method to either for removal of innate genes, introduction of heterologous genes, or combination of both. We have been used selected whole or partial genes to manipulate target fungi toward the development of strains overproducing invaluable proteins. We have also used the whole genome sequence information of fungal genomes in public databases and functional genomics approach to select genes to manipulate and eventually contributing greatly to the development of overproducing industrial strains overproducing proteins or secondary metabolites. I will briefly review 1) filamentous fungi as a host for production of recombinant proteins and secondary metabolites, 2) markets of industrial metabolites, 3) a new approach to manipulate up to five genes at the same time in the system that ProxEnrem uses.

  • Release planning in a software product line (SPL) is to select and assign the features of the multiple software products in the SPL in sequence of releases along a specified planning horizon satisfying the numerous constraints regarding technical precedence, conflicting priorities for features, and available resources. A greedy genetic algorithm is designed to solve the problems of release planning in SPL which is formulated as a precedence-constrained multiple 0-1 knapsack problem. To be guaranteed to obtain feasible solutions after the crossover and mutation operation, a greedy-like heuristic is developed as a repair operator and reflected into the genetic algorithm. The performance of the proposed solution methodology in this research is tested using a fractional factorial experimental design as well as compared with the performance of a genetic algorithm developed for the software release planning. The comparison shows that the solution approach proposed in this research yields better result than the genetic algorithm.

  • Randomly chosen recombinant clones of Fusarium oxysporum were analysed to select useful probes for relatedness analysis of Fusarium oxysporum. Genomic DNA of F. oxysproum f. sp. cubense, digested with HindIII, was ligated to pUC118 and used to transform Escherichia coli strai DH5$\alpha$. Three clones were identified that hybridized to mutiple restriction fragments of some formae speciales of F. oxysporum. These probes detected repetitive sequences in HindIII or EcoRI digested DNAs. Repeated copy clone pFC46, pFC52 and pFC54 showed evident polymorphisms among ten formae speciales of this fungus. Since clone pFC 52 strongly hybridized to multiple EcoRI-digested restriction fragments of f. sp. cubense, it may be useful as a probe for analysis of other genetic characteristics of this forma specialis. The results suggest that our clones might be very useful as probes for relatedness analysis between or within formae speciales of Fusarium oxysporum.

  • This study aimed to develop Lautropia mirabilis-specific quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) primers based on the sequence of DNA-directed RNA polymerase subunit beta gene. The PrimerSelect program was used in designing of the qPCR primers, RTLam-F4 and RTLam-R3. The specificity of the qPCR primers were performed by conventional PCR with 37 strains of 37 oral bacterial species, including L. mirabilis. The sensitivity of the primers was determined by qPCR with the serial dilution of purified genomic DNA of L. mirabilis KCOM 3484, ranged from 4 ng to 4 fg. The data showed that the qPCR primers could detect only L. mirabilis strains and as little as 40 fg of genome DNA of L. mirabilis KCOM 3484. These results indicate that this qPCR primer pair (RTLam-F4/RTLam-R3) may be useful for species-specific detection of L. mirabilis in epidemiological studies of oral bacterial infectious diseases such as periodontal disease.

  • We present the results of the merger fraction evolution for galaxies in NEP-Wide field depending on star formation mode and redshift. We select the galaxies which have AKARI 9 ㎛ detections as a sample for large number of galaxies. We use multi-wavelength data from GALEX to Herschel, and Subaru HSC i-band images for analysis. We classify the merger galaxies with using Gini and M20, which are non-parametric calculated by statmorph code. We obtain the total infrared luminosity from the SED modeling with using one band, AKARI 9 ㎛. We find that the merger fractions of galaxies in all different star formation mode increase as the redshift increases. However, with fixed mass range of 10.5 < log(M🞵) < 11.5, the merger fractions of starbursts significantly increase as the redshift increases compared to those of main sequence and quiescent galaxies. We discuss the implications of these results in this poster.

  • Purpose : A number of genes and their products are Induced early or late following exposure of cells to ionizing radiation. These radiation-Induced genes have various effects on irradiated cells and tissues. Suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH) based on PCR was used to Identify the differentially expressed genes by radiation in cervix carcinoma cells. Materials and Methods : Total RNA and poly $(A)^+$ mRNA were Isolated from Irradiated and non-irradiated HeLa cells. Forward- and reverse-subtracted cDNA libraries were constructed using SSH. Eighty-eight clones of each were used to randomly select differentially expressed genes using reverse Northern blotting (dot blot analysis). Northern blotting was used to verify the screened genes. Results : Of the 17t clones, 10 genes in the forward-subtracted library and 9 genes In the reverse-subtracted library were identified as differentially expressed radiation-induced genes by PCR-select differential screening. Three clones from the forward-subtracted library were confirmed by Northern blotting, and showed increased expression in a dose-dependent manner, including a telomerase catalytic subunit and sodium channel-like protein gene, and an ESTs (expressed sequence tags) gene. Conclusion : We Identified differentially expressed radiation-induced genes with low-abundance genes with SSH, but further characterization of theses genes are necessary to clarify the biological functions of them.
