  • This study identifies the apparel shopping value segments of Korean and Chinese college students to examine the differences in the importance of apparel store attributes. Data from 504 questionnaires filled out by college students from Seoul and Beijing were used for statistical analysis. The four segments of apparel shopping values are, hedonic shopping segment, low involvement shopping segment, high involvement shopping segment, and utilitarian shopping segment. In the high involvement shopping segment, Korean respondents considered store atmosphere, convenience, and the services of salespersons to be more important than the other segments. Chinese respondents in both the hedonic shopping segment and high involvement shopping segment considered store atmosphere more important than the other segments. Korean respondents considered store service more important than the Chinese respondents in the hedonic shopping segment, but Chinese respondents were more likely to consider store convenience to be more important than Korean respondents. In the low involvement shopping segment, Korean respondents considered store atmosphere, store services, and the selection of goods more important than Chinese respondents did. In the high involvement shopping segment, Korean respondents considered the services of salespersons to be more important than the Chinese respondents but the Chinese respondents evaluated store convenience as more important than Korean respondents. In the utilitarian shopping segment, Korean respondents were more likely to consider store service, the selection of goods, and services of salespersons more important than Chinese respondents did.

  • Geothermal energy is easy to take advantage of renewable energy stored in the earth and the heat exchanger can be collected through a heat exchange piping system. In this study, have been developed a heat exchange pipe loop system which it could be installed in tunnel segmental linings to collect geothermal energy around the tunnel. The heat exchange pipe loop system incorporated in the tunnel segments circulate fluid to transport with heat from the surrounding ground and the heat can be used for heating and cooling of nearby structures or districts. The segmental lining incorporating heat exchange pipe loop system are called as ELS (Energy Lining Segment). There are a number of examples incorporating a heat exchange pipe loop system in a tunnel lining in Europe. In this study, a field case using Energy Lining Segment in Germany and applications in urban area are thoroughly examined. In addition, a CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis was carried out to investigate heat flow in Energy Lining Segment.

  • Recently, various high-quality AV services such as UHDTV have begun to increase as broadcasting technology evolves, and various broadcasting standards have been defined. Among the various broadcasting standards, there are representative delivery technologies which are DASH/ROUTE and MMTP. DASH/ROUTE and MMTP are adopted as delivery standards for UHD broadcasting in south Korea, currently. DASH segment and MPU are segmented units including media data, which are delivered via DASH/ROUTE and MMTP, respectively. In this paper, we analyzed structure of DASH segment and MPU and propose a verification system which enables converting DASH segments to MPUs and delivering them via MMTP.

  • An experimental research on the possibility of using high-strength concrete with the design strength of 60 MPa and high-tension rebar with the yielding strength of 600 MPa instead of conventional reinforced concrete segment to reduce its production cost was performed. Full-scale bending tests on both conventional and high-strength reinforced concrete segments were carried out to compare their mechanical and structural behaviors of the segments under flexural action. From the experiments, it was shown that the failure load of high-strength reinforced concrete segment was approximately 30% higher than that of the conventional segment even though reinforcements in high-strength segment were reduced by 26%. The test result showed that the bearing capacity of high-strength segment highly increased by high-strength concrete and high-tension rebar. It also verified the high possibility of high-strength reinforced concrete segment as a technical alternative to reduce the production cost of segments in a shield tunnel.

  • Objective : The current literature implies that the use of short-segment pedicle screw fixation for spinal fractures is dangerous and inappropriate because of its high failure rate, but favorable results have been reported. The purpose of this study is to report the short term results of thoracolumbar burst and compression fractures treated with short-segment pedicle instrumentation. Methods : A retrospective review of all surgically managed thoracolumbar fractures during six years were performed. The 19 surgically managed patients were instrumented by the short-segment technique. Patients' charts, operation notes, preoperative and postoperative radiographs (sagittal index, sagittal plane kyphosis, anterior body compression, vertebral kyphosis, regional kyphosis), computed tomography scans, neurological findings (Frankel functional classification), and follow-up records up to 12-month follow-up were reviewed. Results : No patients showed an increase in neurological deficit. A statistically significant difference existed between the patients preoperative, postoperative and follow-up sagittal index, sagittal plane kyphosis, anterior body compression, vertebral kyphosis and regional kyphosis. One screw pullout resulted in kyphotic angulation, one screw was misplaced and one patient suffered angulation of the proximal segment on follow-up, but these findings were not related to the radiographic findings. Significant bending of screws or hardware breakage were not encountered. Conclusion : Although long term follow-up evaluation needs to verified, the short term follow-up results suggest a favorable outcome for short-segment instrumentation. When applied to patients with isolated spinal fractures who were cooperative with 3-4 months of spinal bracing, short-segment pedicle screw fixation using the posterior approach seems to provide satisfactory result.

  • This study was to analysis three dimension angle of the upper extremity segment and trunk to putting the protector in women bowlers. For this study, the subjects selected 4 players of national and university team. All subjects putted in the same wrist support to satisfy the experiment conditions. To get three dimensions position coordination of swing motion used for 6 ProReflex MCU 240 camera produced by Qualisys. After position coordination calculation, Three dimension angle of the trunk and the upper extremity segment calculated for Matlab 6.5. the result is following; In the trunk motion, there were little differences among the subjects in a flexion and extension change. There were a lot of differences in motion change of the abduction-adduction and internal-external rotation, but the motion types translated to the adduction-abduction-adduction and from the internal rotation toward the external rotation. In the upper arm segment the Flexion and extension showed a consistent motion in the down swing and up swing phase. And the motion change of abduction-adduction and pronation-supination showed a abduction-adduction-abduction and pronation-supination change during swing phase. In the forearm segment changes, it showed a lot of differences among the subjects and a similar change with the upper arm segment. Especially, the hand segment showed a supination motion from the backswing apex to release phase, but for increasing a rotation velocity of ball, the hand segment translated toward pronation in follow throw phase.

  • A segment of the wave board has been expressed as a submerged line segment in the two dimensional wave flume. The lower end of the line segment could be extended to the bottom of the wave flume and the other opposite upper end of the board could be extended to the free surface. It is assumed that the motion of the wave board could be defined by the sinusoidal motion in horizontal direction on either end of the wave board. When the amplitude of sinusoidal motion of the wave board on lower and upper end are equal, the wave board motion could express the horizontally oscillating submerged segment of piston type wave generator. The submerged segment of flap type wave generator also could be expressed by taking the motion amplitude differently for the either end of the board. The pivot point of the segment motion could play a role of hinge point of the flap type wave generator. Simplified analytic solution of oscillating submerged wave board segment in water of finite depth has been derived through the first order perturbation method at two dimensional domain. The case study of the analytic solution has been carried out and it is found out that the solution could be utilized for the design of wave generator with arbitrary shape by linear superposition.

  • The segment matching method shows better performance than the global and points-based methods to compare reference signature with an input signature. However, the segment-to-segment matching method has the problem of decreasing recognition rate according to the variation of partitioning points. This paper proposes a fusion model based on the segment matching and HMM to construct a more reliable authentic system. First, a segment matching classifier is designed by conventional technique to calculate matching values lot dynamic information of signatures. And also, a novel HMM classifier is constructed by using the principal component analysis to calculate matching values for static information of signatures. Finally, SVM classifier is adopted to effectively combine two independent classifiers. From the various experiments, we find that the proposed method shows better performance than the conventional segment matching method.

  • The biting behaviors of tuna were studied based on the remains of saury (Cololabis saira), which was used as bait, in the stomach contents of tuna. The saury remains were classified into four segmental groups (A-segment: Whole fish; B-segment: anterior partion with head: C-segment: middlepart without both head and tail: D-segment : posterior part without head). The tuna stomachs were independently named and grouped into three subsamples according to bait segments remaining in the stomach. The subsamples have the extra number of the stomach-naming segments and the distributions of the bait tegments are biased from tile random distribution. The distribution of the bait segments except the extra segments are hypothetically assumed to be random, and was subjected to the chi-square test of significance. The inferred conclusions are as follows:1. Most of the tuna having the B-segment had previously taken the C and/or D-segment. 2. The catchability of the yellowfin tuna having the B-segment seems higher than that of the fish having the A-segment in the stomach. 3. Tuna which had two or more bait heads should have taken the extra bait heads without being hooked detaching the head from the hook by biting the Posterior porting of tile bait.

  • In this paper, we propose a network fault recovery algorithm based on a segment restoration scheme to reduce restoration time and restoration resource. The proposed segment restoration scheme is based on network partitioning which divides a large network into several small subnetworks. The restoration performance of the proposed segment restoration scheme depends on the size and the topology of subnetworks. Since most faults can be restored in a subnetwork, restoration time is reduced obviously. We compare and analyze restoration performance according to the size of subnetworks and restoration schemes. From simulation results, the proposed segment restoration scheme has the shortest restoration time compared with other restoration schemes. Especially the restoration performance of the proposed segment restoration scheme is better than the SLSP, which is also a segment-based restoration scheme, in terms of restoration time and required restoration resource capacity.
