고랭지 임의·불법 경작지 복구 시나리오에 따른 토양유실 및 부유사량 저감 효과 분석 (Analysis of the Effects on Soil Erosion and Suspended Sediment Reduction by Alpine Unauthorized and Illegal Agricultural Fields Restoration Scenarios)

  • This study assessed the efficiency of reducing soil erosion and suspended sediment through the restoration of alpine unauthorized and illegally cultivated fields, using the SWAT (Soil and Water Assessment Tool) model in the Mandae District. The results showed that in Scenario 5, which involved restoring unauthorized and illegal fields within forests, along rivers (banks), and in ditch areas were restored to their original land categories, achieved the highest efficiency in reducing average annual soil erosion and suspended sediment, with reductions of 8.1% and 4.5%, respectively. In particular, it was confirmed that the restoration of unauthorized and illegal fields within forested areas has a significant impact. This demonstrated that the restoration of unauthorized and illegal agricultural fields can substantially reduce the soil erosion and suspended sediment attributable to non-point source pollution. Our findings highlight the importance of managing these unauthorized and illegal agricultural activities in developing sustainable strategies within non-point source pollution management areas. This study is expected to provide important basic data to effectively establish water quality improvement strategies in the region of non-point source pollution management.

동해 울릉분지에서 대륙사면과 분지 퇴적물의 지화학적 특성에 따른 황산염 환원 비교 (Comparison of Sulfate Reduction Rates Associated with Geochemical Characteristics at the Continental Slope and Basin Sediments in the Ulleung Basin, East Sea)

  • In conjunction with geochemical characteristics, rate of sulfate reduction was investigated at two sediment sites in the continental slope and rise (basin) of the Ulleung Basin in the East Sea. Geochemical sediment analysis revealed that the surface sediments of the basin site (D2) were enriched with manganese oxides (348 ${\mu}mol$ $cm^{-3}$) and iron oxides (133 ${\mu}mol$ $cm^{-3}$), whereas total reduced sulfur (TRS) in the solid phase was nearly depleted. Sulfate reduction rates (SRRs) ranged from 20.96 to 92.87 nmol $cm^{-3}$ $d^{-1}$ at the slope site (M1) and from 0.65 to 22.32 nmol $cm^{-3}$ $d^{-1}$ at the basin site (D2). Depth integrated SRR within the top 10 cm depth of the slope site (M1; 5.25 mmol $m^{-2}$ $d^{-1}$) was approximately 6 times higher than that at the basin site (D2; 0.94 mmol $m^{-2}$ $d^{-1}$) despite high organic content (>2.0% dry wt.) in the sediment of both sites. The results indicate that the spatial variations of sulfate reduction are affected by the distribution of manganese oxide and iron oxide-enriched surface sediment of the Ulleung Basin.

파랑 변화에 따른 동해안 맹방 해수욕장 연안 표사수지 파악 (Evaluation of Coastal Sediment Budget on East Coast Maeongbang Beach by Wave Changes)

  • Numerical simulation of the sediment by the Delft3d model was conducted to examine the changes in the sediment budget transport caused by long-term wave changes at the Maengbang beach. Representative waves were generated with input reduction tools using NOAA NCEP wave data for about 40 years, i.e., from January 1979 to May 2019. To determine the adequacy of the model, wave and depth changes were compared and verified using wave and depth data observed for about 23 months beginning in March 2017. As a result of the error analysis, the bias was 0.05 and the root mean square error was 0.23, which indicated that the numerical wave results were satisfactory. Also, the observed change in depth and numerical result were similar. In addition, to examine the effect due to long-term changes in the waves, the NOAA wave data classified into each of the representative wave grades, and then the annual trend of the representative wave was analyzed. After deciding the weight of each wave class considering the changed wave environment in 2100, the amounts of sedimentation, deposition, and the sediment transport budget were reviewed for the same period. The results indicated that the sedimentation pattern did not change significantly compared to the current state, and the amount of the local sediment budget shown in the present state was slightly less. And there has been a local increase in the number of sediment budget transport, but there is no significant difference in the net and amount of sediment movements.

Evaluation of contamination for the Andong-dam sediment and a magnetic separation for reducing the contamination level

  • Andong-dam was built up in 1967 and it is one of the biggest dams in Korea. Previous studies showed that the sediments are highly contaminated with heavy metals such as arsenic, cadmium, and lead. Many research projects are going on to find out the source of the contamination, to evaluate the toxicities to ecosystem, to estimate the volume of sediment to be treated and to find out a good remediation method. Reports show that the sediment is highly contaminated and the main contamination source is supposed to be abandoned mines and a zinc refinery located upper stream of the river. A magnetic separation has been tested as a treatment method for the dredged sediment. Lab scale test showed that the magnetically captured portion is about 10% in weight but the contamination of heavy metal is much higher than the contamination of the passed portion. This indicates that a magnetic separation could be applied for the purpose of reduction of sediment to be treated and for increasing the volume of low toxic sediments which can be dumped as general waste. A magnetic separation using a HGMS has been tested for the sediment with variable magnetic field and the results showed the higher magnetic field increase the captured portion but the concentrating effect of heavy metal was weakened. Further study is needed to establish a useful technology and optimization between decontamination and reduction of sediment volume.

볏짚 피복에 의한 밭 비점원오염 저감효과 분석을 위한 HSPF 모델링 (HSPF Modeling for Identifying Runoff Reduction Effect of Nonpoint Source Pollution by Rice Straw Mulching on Upland Crops)

  • This study is to assess the reduction of non-point source pollution loads for rice straw surface covering of upland crop cultivation at a watershed scale. For Byulmi-cheon watershed ($1.21km^2$) located in the upstream of Gyeongancheon, the HSPF (Hydrological Simulation Program-Fortran), a physically based distributed hydrological model was applied. Before evaluation, the model was calibrated and validated using 9 rainfall events. The Nash-Sutcliffe model efficiency (NSE) for streamflow was 0.62~0.78 and the NSE for water quality (Sediment, T-N, and T-P) were 0.68, 0.60, and 0.58 respectively. From the field experiment of 16 rainfall events, the rice straw covering reduced surface runoff average 10 % compared to normal surface condition. By handling infiltration parameter (INFILT) in the model, the value of 16.0 mm/hr was found to reduce about 10 % reduction of surface runoff. For this condition, the reduction effect of Sediment, T-N, and T-P loads were 87.2, 28.5, and 85.1 % respectively. The rice straw surface covering was effective for removing surface runoff dependent loads such as Sediment and T-P.

WEPP 모형을 이용한 우회수로 및 식생수로의 유출 및 토사유출 저감 평가 (Evaluation of Runoff and Sediment Yield Reduction with Diversion Ditch and Vegetated Swale Using WEPP Model)

  • 전세계적으로 토사유출은 심각한 문제로 알려져 있다. 환경관리자, 농부 및 다른 토지소유자들을 위해 다양한 모델링 테크닉이 개발되어왔고, 토양유실 저감을 위해 다양한 site-specific 최적관리기법의 효율을 산정하여 활용하였다. 물리적기반인 WEPP 모형은 시 공간적으로 작은 유역과 필지에서 발생하는 토양유실을 산정할 수 있다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 WEPP watershed version을 이용하여 강원도 홍천군 자운리에 위치한 연구지역에 빗물 우회수로와 식생수로를 적용하였다. 우회수로 적용시 유출량과 토사유출량은 각각5.8%, 29.6% 저감되었으며, 식생수로 적용시 각각 9.8%, 14.5% 저감되었다. 식생수로와 우회수로를 혼합한 식생우회수로는 유출량과 토사유출량이 각각 11.8%, 40.4% 저감되었다. 본 연구의 결과와 같이 WEPP 모형은 유출량과 토사유출량 저감효과를 산정하고, site-specific 토사유출저감 최적관리기법 수립에 유용할 것으로 판단된다.

부산신항 용원수로에서의 퇴적물 준설에 의한 용출특성 변화 연구 (A Study on Leaching Characteristics Change for Sediment Dredging in Yongwon Channel, Busan New Port)

  • 용원해역은 부산신항 개발사업의 일환으로 추진된 북컨테이너부두 조성사업 및 항만 배후단지 조성사업으로 전면 해역이 매립되어 원활한 해수흐름이 차단되고 송정천 하구 지점의 견마도 북쪽 통로를 이용한 선박이동만이 가능한 좁고 긴 수로형태로 변형되었다. 따라서 용원수로에 유입되는 오염물질은 수로에 체류되어 서서히 확산되는 양상을 보일 것으로 판단된다. 본 연구에서는 용원수로 내 준설 전 후 퇴적토 용출실험을 실시한 결과 준설 후에 용출농도가 낮게 나타났으며, 그룹별(A~C) 삭감률을 산정한 결과 T-N의 삭감률은 4.6%, 18.0%, 18.6%로 나타났다. T-P의 삭감률은 24.8%, 24.2%, 44.1%로 나타났다. COD의 삭감률은 18.6%, 19.8%, 38.1%로 용원수로 내 준설 후 수질개선의 효과가 나타났으며, 준설을 통한 용원수로 내 오염원을 제어하기 위한 기초자료로 활용하고자 한다.

The Analysis of Reduction Efficiency of Soil Erosion and Sediment Yield by a Ginseng Area using GIS Tools

  • 최근 탁수문제는 댐과 저수지관리 업무에서 중요한 이슈중의 하나가 되고 있으며, 고탁수를 유발하는 주요원인은 강우강도 에너지에 의한 유사량이다. 기존의 연구들은 다양한 작물형태를 고려하지 않아 정확한 토양 침식 및 유사량을 계산할 수 없었다. 본 연구에서는 IKONOS 위성영상으로부터 추출한 인삼밭 레이어를 이용하여 토양침식량과 유사량의 저감효과를 분석하였으며, 인삼밭의 면적과 점유비율은 각각 $0.290km^2$와 0.94%로 나타났다. GIS 기반 RUSLE 모델을 이용하여 인삼밭을 고려한 토양침식량의 저감효과를 분석한 결과는 0.9%로 낮게 나타났으며, 이는 인삼밭의 면적이 다른 농경지에 비해 상대적으로 작기 때문으로 해석된다. 미래의 토지이용변화를 반영하기 위해, 본 연구에서는 논, 밭, 과수원 그리고 기타 재배지들이 인삼밭 지역으로 전환된다는 시나리오를 고려하여 토양침식과 유사량의 저감효과를 평가하였다. 시나리오에 따른 인삼밭의 저감효과를 분석한 결과, 밭지역을 인삼밭으로 전환한 시나리오 (1)과 모든 농경지를 인삼밭으로 전환한 (4)가 인삼밭을 고려하지 않은 기존의 연구와 비교할 때 31.3% 및 34.8% 더 높은 저감효과를 나타내었다. 본 연구에서 제시한 방법론은 고탁수와 관련된 저수지관리를 지원하기 위한 매우 효과적인 도구가 될 수 있을 것이다.

합류맨홀에서의 유사퇴적 저감을 위한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study for Reduction of Sedimentation Deposit in Combining Junction Manholes)

  • 일반적으로 관거 및 맨홀 등의 도시 배수 시스템에서의 유사 및 유송잡물의 퇴적은 유수 흐름의 저항, 합류식 하수도의 조기 운영 및 도시 침수 및 주수로에서의 필연적인 오염 발생 등의 하수도 시설에 심각한 영향을 미친다. 그러므로 배수관과 연결된 합류맨홀에서 유사의 거동 특성 및 퇴적 양상을 분석할 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서는 문헌조사 및 현장조사를 실시하여 실험장치를 제작하고 실험조건을 선정하였다. 선정된 실험조건인 맨홀 형상 조건(사각형, 원형), 유사 유입 조건, 유입 유사량 및 유사 유입 관거를 변화시키면서 실시하였다. 맨홀 내부에 경사형 benching을 설치한 개선형 합류맨홀은 맨홀의 형상에 관계없이 합류맨홀 내 유사퇴적을 저감시키는 데에 상당한 효과를 나타내고 있으므로 도시 배수 시스템에서 개선형 합류맨홀은 관거 시설의 배수능력을 증대시킬 것으로 판단된다.

국내 경작지 특성을 고려한 SWAT 모형의 식생여과대 유사저감 효율 산정식 개선 (Modification of Sediment Trapping Efficiency Equation of VFS in SWAT Considering the Characteristics of the Agricultural Land in Korea)

  • In this study, considering the factors that affects sediment trapping efficiency of Vegetative Filter Strips (VFS), the scenarios were designed to develop a regression equation to estimate sediment trapping efficiency of VFS for agricultural fields in South-Korea. For this, general conditions of agricultural fields in South-Korea were investigated. Then, based on these results, total 53,460 scenarios were set and simulated by Vegetative Filter Strip MODel (VFSMOD-w). Two variables were determined from the results of 53,460 scenarios. These two variables were applied to CurveExpert for development of a equation, which can estimate sediment trapping efficiency of VFS. The equation developed in this study can be used in SWAT model for estimation of sediment reduction efficiency of VFS to upland field in Korea. Moreover, it is expected that VFS will be effectively applied to agricultural fields in South-Korea.
