혈관결찰기의 성능평가방법으로서 혈관파열압력시험의 유용성 연구 (A Study on the Usability of the Vascular Bursting Pressure Test as a Method of Performance Evaluation of Vessel Sealing)

  • Vessel sealing is a medical device that converts electrical or ultrasonic energy into thermal energy and leads to seal, coagulate, and cut the vessel by protein modification within the walls or surrounding connective tissues. As most of surgeries have recently been conducted with minimally invasive surgery, the demand and market for vessel sealing are expected to get bigger. However, there is a problem that electrosurgical or ultrasonic surgical is applied and we have a high risk to evaluate the strength of seal, because the collateral and particular standards currently in force follows have not been establish. Therefore, in this study, we investigated some papers studied on the efficacy and safety of the device, the guidance of FDA and test papers previously conducted from 3 individual subject device made in Korea. We found there is a relationship between burst pressure and the performance of the device, therefore, we propose the vascular bursting pressure test for evaluating the safety and performance of the vessel sealing.

도로면 크랙실링 자동화 장비의 작업 생산성 분석에 관한 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study on Productivity Analysis of Automated Pavement Crack Sealing Machines)

  • 도로면 크랙실링 공법은 균열발생 초기에 도로면을 보수하여 균열의 확산을 예방하는 유지보수공법으로써 북미를 중심으로 한 선진 외국에서는 이미 오래전부터 많은 도로 보수 물량에 적용되어 왔다. 그러나 재래식 크랙실링 공법은 작업 특성상 교통량이 많은 일반도로나 고속국도에서 작업이 수행되므로 교통사고가 빈번하게 발생하고, 가열된 실런트를 도로면에 직접 분사하기 때문에 화상의 위험으로부터 노무자의 안전을 확보하기 어려운 문제점이 있다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 선진 외국에서는 1990년대 초부터 ARMM, OCCSM, TTLS 등의 크랙실링 자동화 장비를 지속적으로 연구 개발해 왔으며, 국내에서도 2004년 APCS 장비와 2013년 ACSTM 장비를 개발 완료한 바 있다. 그러나 다수의 연구기관에서 서로 상이한 시기에 개발된 크랙실링 자동화 장비는 각기 다른 테스트베드 조건과 생산성 측정 방법을 사용하여 개발 장비의 작업 생산성을 측정, 표기함으로써 각 크랙실링 자동화 장비의 성능을 객관적으로 비교, 평가할 수 없는 문제점이 있었다. 이 연구에서는 동일한 환경 조건 내에서 크랙실링 자동화 장비의 생산성을 측정하기 위해 완전자동 맵핑 및 반자동 맵핑 방식에 따른 각 크랙실링 자동화 장비의 이미지 프로세싱 소요시간을 추정하고, 작업 프로세스상의 동작요소별 이동시간을 산정하였다. 또한 국내 도로환경이 반영된 생산성 측정 테스트베드를 설계하였으며, 이를 기반으로 국내외에서 개발된 크랙실링 자동화 장비의 생산성을 동일한 조건 내에서 측정하고 상호 비교, 분석하였다.

다구찌법을 이용한 O-링의 최적설계 및 수치적 연구 (Design Optimization and Numerical Study of O-ring using Taguchi Method)

  • The sealing performance of O-rings is affected by working conditions such as applied pressure, operation temperature, pre-compressed ratio and material properties. In this paper, a pressurized and compressed elastomeric bi-polymer O-ring in which is inserted into a rectangular groove is analyzed by non-linear MARC finite element program based on the Taguchi experimental method. O-rings with 9 different profile models are analyzed for design parameters that are related to the diameter ratio between outer diameter and inner one of bi-polymer O-ring, compressive ratio, groove angle and groove depth. The calculated FEM results showed that the affection ratio of design parameter dlD, which may control sealing pressure of O-rings, is the most influential parameter among the groove angle, groove depth and compression ratio.

  • Due to continuous difficulty of human power supply, it is necessary to develop an equipment which is good to saving cost and time at a construction site. A quick pipe coupling method is the kind of mechanical joint system using split-sleeve and sealing-pad at pipe groove without welding. In hence, it provides restrained pipe joint which is simple, safe, and dependable without environmental pollutions. It is more useful scheme than the other ones. The purpose of this study is to find out the main design factors and the optimum shape of split-sleeve. The stress analyses were carried out under various shapes of pipe groove configuration, materials and internal pressures with a commercial software, ANSYS workbench which uses FEM(finite element method). Results are graphically depicted with various parameters.

  • A mechanical face seal is a tribe-element intended to control the leakage of working fluid at the interface of a rotating shaft and its housing. The leakage of working fluid decreases as the seal surfaces get closer each other. But a very small seal clearance results in a drastic reduction of seal life because of high wear and heat generation. Therefore, in the design of mechanical face seals the compromise between low leakage and acceptable life is important and presents a difficult design problem. And the gap geometry of seal clearance affects seal performance very much and becomes an important design variable. In this study the Reynolds equation for the sealing dam of mechanical face seals is numerically analyzed using the Galerkin Finite Element Method, which can be readily applied to various seal geometries. The film pressures of the sealing dam are analyzed, including the effects of the seal face coning and tilt. Then, opening forces, restoring moments, leakages, and dynamic coefficients are calculated.

  • Silicone rubber wire seals are widely used in automotive connector systems for waterproofing and so on. The purpose of this paper is to predict and evaluate the sealing performance of wire seals using finite element analysis. The material properties of the rubber seals were determined by the curve fitting of uniaxial tensile test and equibiaxial tensile test data. The response surface method was used to determine the optimum shape of the wire seal. In order to verify the accuracy and reliability of the simulations on the deformation prediction of wire seals, experiments were also carried out.

선미관 밀봉 장치 시일링의 단면 형상에 관한 연구 (A study on the cross-section profile of the seal ring in the stern tube sealing system)

  • In this paper, the mechanical movement of lip seal-ring which plays the most important function in stern-tube sealing system and the possibility of leakage caused by pressure fluctuation are studied by theory and experiment. By the finite element method for axial symmetry object which receives the torsional bending load, the displacement and stress analysis of the seal-rings are executed for products of several representative manufacturers of seal-rings, and also the possibility of crack occurance are checked by theoretical analysis. A sample seal-ring id designed and manufactured using the program of displacement and stress analysis developed in this study and made an experimental apparatus to test the sampling seal-ring. The sampling seal-ring functioned excellently, but it had its durability and this problem may be solved by using the Viton instead of NBR.

  • Typically, robot system configured by articulated robot manipulator with 1 DOF transfer unit is being applied in automotive manufacturing automation process. Especially, 1 DOF transfer unit is necessary to extend workspace of robot manipulator. In this configuration, because transfer unit works only one direction, robot manipulator only works in one side in case of car body painting or sealing automation process. it is necessary three robot manipulator system at least. In this paper, in order to robot manipulator works effectively in car body sealing automation application, we are suggested omni-directional manipulator system and conducted studying on redundancy resolution method to solve manipulability-optimal problem.

엔진 헤드 개스킷 강건 설계 (Robust Design of Engine Head Gasket)

  • A robust design of head gasket is pursued by using FEA model of engine assembly. Engine assembly model consists of cylinder head, block, gasket, and head bolt is constructed to understand a complex behavior of this engine compound. Thermal loading is performed on the assembled engine cylinder and block to obtain temperature field. Firing load is added to the results of heat transfer analysis to simulate the engine operation condition. Temperature filed results from heat transfer analysis are mapped into the structural mesh. Contact pressure distribution along the bead has been monitored for the engine operation condition. Based on the results obtained from the analysis, Taguchi method has been adopted for a robust design process of head gasket. Among the control factors, bolt size affects most robustness of head gasket sealing.

Effect of Coating Methods on the Properties of Poly(lactide)-coated Paperboard: Solution Coating vs. Thermo-compression Coating

  • Poly(lactide) (PLA)-coated paperboards were prepared by solution coating and thermo-compression coating methods and their effect of coating on the packaging properties such as tensile, water resistance, water vapor barrier, and heat sealing properties was tested. Compared with uncoated control paperboard, tensile strength (TS) of PLA-coated paperboard increased profoundly (2.2-2.6 folds) with slight increase in elongation at break (E). Water absorptiveness (WA) of the paperboard decreased 74-170 folds and water vapor permeability (WVP) decreased 6.3-22.1 folds by coating with PLA, which indicates an increase in the hydrophobicity of the surface of paperboard. Compared with polyethylene (PE)-coated paperboard, both PLA-coated paperboard exhibited 2.3 time higher heat sealing strength. In addition, the PLA-coated paperboards showed equal or higher wet TS than PE-coated paperboard. All the test results showed that the paperboard coated by the thermo-compression coating method was similar to or better than those of coated by the solution coating method.
