  • The significance of high-quality development and green total factor productivity has attracted widespread attention and research, while few studies on green total factor productivity that considers the use of water resources have been conducted in the context of water shortages and water stress. In this study, the green total factor productivity of water use from 2005 to 2015 in mainland China is evaluated based on the global Malmquist-Luenberger productivity index. Results show that: (1) China's green total factor productivity of water use has been improving since 2005 with an annual global Malmquist-Luenberger productivity index of 1.0104. (2) At the regional level, the eastern zone in mainland China owns the highest green total factor productivity of water use, while that in the intermediate zone ranks last. (3) The green total factor productivity of water use in the southern region (1.0113) significantly higher than that in the northern region (1.0095), and also higher than the national average level in the same period. BPC index has been the most important incluencing factor of green total factor productivity of water use at both national level and regional level since 2011.

  • Each company is more interested in the productivity to achieve cost reduction and profit maximization through productivity improvement. With this trend, we show the method to measure productivity using TPM(Total Productivity Model) which considers all the input factors of the company instead of using partial productivity such as labor and/or capital productivity We also examine the relation of productivity versus output, profit versus output and profit versus productivity of the case company by actually applying the TPM and suggest the optimal level of profit and output for this company.

  • Traditionally, the construction industry has shown low labor productivity and productivity growth. To improve labor productivity, it must first be accurately measured. The existing method uses work-sampling techniques through observation of workers' activities at certain time intervals on site. However, a disadvantage of this method is that the results may differ depending on the observer's judgment and may be inaccurate in the case of a large number of missed scenarios. Therefore, this study proposes a model to automate labor productivity measurement by monitoring workers' actions using a deep learning-based pose estimation method. The results are expected to contribute to productivity improvement on construction sites.

  • Extant research on firm innovation productivity is limited in measuring the innovation productivity, in which they measured firm innovation productivity by using either inputs or outputs of innovation. The present study complemented the extant research by employing Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) approach to measure firm innovation productivity. Furthermore, this paper examined the effects of firms' external knowledge search, as one of open innovation practices, on firm innovation productivity, for open innovation activities are regarded as an influencing factor on firm innovation productivity in the previous literatures. Using the data of the Korean Innovation Survey (KIS) of manufacturing industries conducted in 2008, this study developed hypotheses in which we considered not only two dimensions of external knowledge search (breadth and depth) but also two subtypes of external knowledge search (market-driven and science-driven). The results found that searching deeply and market-driven search are positively related to firm innovation productivity, but science-driven search is somewhat negatively related to firm innovation productivity. Furthermore, market-driven search can mitigate the negative effect of science-driven search on innovation productivity.

  • We estimated monthly and annual secondary productivity of pelagic zooplankton in Lake Paldang and Lake Cheongpyong. Secondary productivity was calculated by combining estimated zooplankton biomass and biomass-specific productivity for each site and depth from March to November 2008. In addition to somatic production, we measured production of eggs and exuviae for three dominant species: Daphnia galeata, Bosmina longirostris, Cyclops sp. In terms of biomass, B. longirostris was dominant in Lake Paldang in April and May, B. longirostris showed explosive biomass growth, especially in May. In June and July, B. longirostris and D. galeata were both dominant. Lake Cheongpyeong showed much lower zooplankton biomass than Lake Paldang. In August, there was little or no biomass in both lakes probably due to heavy rain. The Gyeongan River contributed most of the secondary productivity and B. longirostris contributed the most secondary productivity in Lake Paldang. D. galeata also contributed in the Gyeongan River, the South Han River and at the Paldang Dam in spring and fall. Overall, Lake Cheongpyeong showed lower secondary productivity than Lake Paldang. B. longirostris made the largest contribution to secondary productivity in the Cheongpyeong Dam area while D. galeata contributed the most near Nami Island. Somatic production constituted ~80% of the total secondary productivity (the sum of somatic, egg and exuvia production) for D. galeata and B. longirostris. Although production-to-biomass (P/B) ratios were usually <<1 B. longirostris sometimes showed very high P/B ratios, probably due to fish predation. D. galeata showed much lower P/B ratios than B. longirostris after the summer at most sites.

  • The egg productivity of the chick is represented by the number of egg produced, egg weight, and sexual maturity, which are regulated by various endocrine factors. Although there were some reports that insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-Ⅰ) affected egg production, studies on any correlation between IGFs and egg productivity were not reported in poultry. The objectives of the present study were to examine the IGFs profile and egg productivity in both KNOC and laying hen (Saver) and to investigate the relationship of IGFs with egg productivity. Whole blood was collected every 10 wk until 60 wks. (omitted)

  • Based upon previous research, factors affecting office productivity with the Accounting Information Systems(AIS) were suggested, and the relationships between the factors and the office productivity with the AIS were hypothesized. The empirical results suggested that there are significant positive relationships between the factors such as the user participation, level of AIS utilization, internal AIS development and AIS technical sophistication and the office productivity with the AIS. According to the results, the office productivity increasing strategy with the AIS were proposed.

  • This paper investigates the productivity growth of four manufacturing industries employing TFP and Malmquist productivity indexes on data for 13 OECD countries covering 1977-1990, and estimates the effects of R&D investment on productivity growth. The results show that there is a large difference between these indexes, and that R&D effects on productivity using TFP and Malmquist productivity indexes are different in value and significance.

  • This study is a critical assessment of research productivity through publication among scientists and engineers. Through the analysis of the 223 mail questionnaires collected from professors of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemistry and physics, this study obtains the particular determinants of publication productivity at the science and engineering schools in Korea. The data are analyzed using correlation, ANOVA, multiple regression analysis and path analysis. The result shows that early research productivity and the number of doctoral students are very important to publish good research articles. Also the qualities of professors' Ph.D. institution and the quality of employing university are critical influencing factors to publication productivity.

  • The objective of this paper is to analyze the combined productivity at automated container terminal. We present a simulation model for transport vehicle that perform the container transportation between apron and yard with a perpendicular yard layout. Usually, the efficiency of container terminal is evaluated by productivity of container cranes at apron, and though there are enough support of transport vehicles and yard cranes, can improve the productivity of container cranes. Especially, transport vehicle is very important factor in productivity of container cranes and has variable work productivity according to loading and unloading situation. Therefore, a method that can estimate combined productivity of equipment is required. We performed various simulation experiment and analyzed combined productivity to estimate the required number of equipment.
