'신기한 스쿨버스' 만화영화 도입이 식물의 구조와 기능에 대한 초등학생의 개념 이해와 흥미에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Animation-based Instruction using "Magic School Bus" on Elementary Students' Level of Understanding and Interests on Plant's Structure and Function)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of animation-based instruction on elementary students' level of understanding and interest on a plant's structure and function, using "Magic School Bus(Joanna Cole, Bruce Degen, 1986)". The understanding and interest measurements were administered to 99 fifth grade students at a elementary school located in Seoul. The study examined the changes in understanding and interest through pre-test and post-test of the two groups. Intensive interviews were conducted to find factors that enhance understanding and interest. Three key findings were revealed from the results. First, the animation-based instruction enhanced the level of understanding in the experimental group compared to the control group. Second, animation-based instruction made high-achieving students enhance their interest in topic component and attitude component. And, animation-based instruction did not led low-achieving students to increase their interest in the topic component and attitude component. We suggest that animation-based instruction positively influences students' understanding, but its effects on students' interest are dependent on their conceptual understanding of the topic.

보건학전공 대학생의 e헬스 리터러시가 건강행위에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of e-Health literacy on Health Behavior in Health Science Majors)

  • Objectives: This study aimed identify of the level and effect of the e-health literacy and health behavior in health science majors Methods: The data was collected from March 5 to March 15, 2018 for student majoring in health science at a university in the C city. The data were analyzed with the SPSS 21.0. Results: First, the e-health literacy were statistically significant in grades (F=5.769, p=0.001), health interest (F=10.553, p<0.001) and health care time (F=3.841, p=0.023), and health behavior were statistically significant in subjective health condition (F=5.476, p=0.05), health interest (F=16.716, p<0.001), and health care time (F=28.479, p<0.001). Second, the e-health literacy were correlated with grades, health care time, economic level and health interest, and health behavior were related to health care time, e-health literacy, subjective health condition and health interest. Third, health behavior related factors were health care time, e-health literacy, grades, subjective health condition, and health interest. Conclusion: The related knowledge and skills should be applied to basic classes in order to ensure that health science majors care can accurately utilize the information on the e-health.

초·중등학생을 위한 디자인적 사고기반의 STEAM교육 프로그램의 효과 (Effect of Design Thinking-based STEAM Program for Primary and Secondary Students)

  • This study aims to investigate the effect of design thinking-based STEAM program for primary and secondary students. The design thinking-based STEAM program dealt with advanced scientific technology issues and it consisted of 8 topics. A questionnaire was developed to explore the change of Science concept awareness, Interest, Self-efficacy, Career consciousness of students through the program. The questionnaire consisted of following 4 areas, such as 'Science concept awareness', 'Interest', 'Career consciousness' and 'Self efficacy'. Pre-post test was conducted to 75 primary and secondary students. As a result of analyzing post-test compared to pre-test, 'Science concept awareness', 'Career consciousness' and 'Self efficacy' of students were improved. And the 'Interest' wasn't changed significantly. Through this research, it can be suggested that the design thinking-based STEAM program can be useful at school education to improve the Science concept awareness, Career consciousness and Self-efficacy of primary and secondary students. It is also proposed that further research of the various areas of interest and other affective variables will be needed.

과학만화 독서가 초등학생의 과학 흥미도, 학업성취도 및 과학적 태도에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Science Cartoon Reading on the Levels of Interest in Science, the Academic Achievements and the Scientific Attitudes of Elementary Students)

  • Various data and methods are necessary to help students understand the science subject, and have interest in it. Most students like cartoons, and more easily memorize their contents. The purpose of this study was to verify the effects of science cartoon reading on the academic achiements, the levels of interests in science and scientific attitudes of elementary students The study subjects were four classes of the 6th grade of G elementary school in U city. Two classes were experimental group and the others were comparison group. The students of the experimental classes were encouraged to read science cartoon related to class contents at the beginning and ending for 5 minutes respectively in instructional time. And those of the comparison classes received general science lesson. The results of this study were as follows. First, the experimental classes encouraged to read science cartoon marked higher average score than comparison classes in post-test and the difference was meaningful (p<.05). This meant science cartoon reading treatment had the effect of improvement of the levels of interest in science of student. Second, the experimental classes marked higher average score than comparison classes in post-test but didn't show meaningful difference. This meant science cartoon reading treatment didn't have the effect of improvement of academic achievement of students in our study. Third, the experimental classes marked higher average score than comparison classes in post-test and showed the meaningful difference(p<.05). This meant science cartoon reading treatment had the effect of improvement of scientific attitudes of students. From the results thus far, we could tell that science cartoon reading had positive effects on the levels of interest in science and scientific attitudes of students in our study.

흥미와 학습양식에 따른 고등학교 1학년 학생들의 지구의 자전 관련 개념 (Tenth Graders' Ideas concerned with Earth's Rotation according to Interest and Learning style)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 지구의 운동에 대한 흥미와 학습양식이 서로 다른 고등학교 1학년 학생들을 대상으로 지구의 자전과 관련된 개념을 알아보는데 있다. 학생들의 지구의 자전에 대한 흥미와 시각-언어 학습 양식을 알아보기 위해, 흥미가 많고 시각-언어의 학습 양식을 모두 지닌 학생 1명, 흥미가 많고 시각적인 학습 양식을 지닌 학생 1명, 흥미가 적고 시각적 학습 양식을 지닌 학생 1명, 흥미가 적고 언어적 학습 양식을 지닌 학생 1명 등 4명을 연구 대상자로 선정하였다. 학생의 개념을 다방면으로 이끌기 위하여 말 이외에 몸 동작과 그림 등을 그리게 하였으며, 자료 분석은 면담 기록지를 통해 개인별로 분석하였다. 연구 결과 흥미가 많은 학생이 흥미가 적은 학생보다 지구의 자전에 관한 질문에 반응과 내용의 이해도가 높았으며 답변에 대한 이유를 논리적으로 설명하였다. 또한 흥미의 유무와는 달리 개인이 지닌 학습 양식에 따른 개념 형성 차이는 크게 나타나지 않았다. 학생들이 지닌 가장 대표적이 오개념 유형으로 태양의 이동 경로를 나타낼 때 오른쪽을 동쪽으로 생각하여 태양이 오른쪽에서 왼쪽으로 이동하며, 북쪽 하늘에서 별들은 시계 방향으로 이동한다는 것이다.

과학 완구 만들기 활동이 초등학생의 과학 흥미도 및 개념 이해도에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of Science Toy Making Activities on the Scientific Interest and the Conceptual Understanding of Elementary School Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of science toy making activities on the scientific interest and the conceptual understanding of elementary school students. In this study, science toy making activities were applied to an experimental group and traditional learning activities were applied to the control group. The science toy making activities comprised thirteen steps and were administered during class. In the scientific interest test, there was a statistically significant difference between the score of the experimental group and that of the control group. In particular, post-test scores were higher than pre-test scores in the experimental group, while they were lower than this in the control group. It appeared that students had positive thoughts about science toy making activities. These science toy making activities had positive effects on the conceptual understanding of the experimental group students. The post-test scores of the experimental group were higher than that of the control group in all domain concepts. From these results, it can be deduced that the science toy making activities were more effective than traditional teaming activities. They were an effective teaching technique which enhanced the scientific interests and the conceptual understanding of the students in question.

과학 기반 STEAM에 의한 '빛' 단원 학습이 과학 학습 동기, 흥미 및 과학 탐구 능력에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of the Learning Motive, Interest and Science Process Skills using the 'Light' Unit on Science-based STEAM)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out The Effects of the Learning Motive, Interest and Science Process Skills using the 'Light' Unit on Science-based STEAM. As the subject, 2 classes in the 6th grade of G elementary school located in Busan were selected. Through the pre/post inspection design between experiment and comparison class, the units of science courses in the first semester of 6th grade '1. Light' were applied. The results were as follows: Firstly, it was observed that it would have a meaningful effect to improve the learning motive of students who performed STEAM education. Secondly, it was observed that it would have a meaningful effect to improve the interest of students who performed STEAM education. Especially, the results of 'attention', 'relevance', 'confidence' and 'satisfaction' in the experimental class were higher than those of students in the comparative class. The experimental class gave a positive effect on the 'attention', 'confidence' and 'satisfaction'. According to statistical analysis, this result is meaning. Thirdly, the test on science processing skills showed that there was not statistic meaningful differences between the two groups. But, in the sub-parts, there was statistic meaningful differences between the two groups on the 'integrated inquiry ability'.

스토리텔링 활용 과학 수업이 초등학생의 학업 성취도, 과학 관련 태도 및 흥미도에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Science Instruction with Storytelling on the Achievement, Science related Attitude and Interest in Elementary School)

  • The aim of this study was to find out the effect of instruction with storytelling on the achievement, attitude and interest in science. For this study, two classes were divided into experimental class and comparative class. All the results were analyzed quantitatively. Results of this study can be described as follows. First, the experimental class didn't have a significant difference in scholastic achievement compared with the comparative class. However, the results of the t-test for the academic achievement due to achievement level showed a positive effect in the average level of students. And experimental group was statistically significantly higher in the section of 'Combustion and Extinguishment' than that of the other group. Second, There was a significant difference in the aspect of the effect of instruction with storytelling on the student's science-related attitudes. As a result of analysis by sub categories of science-related attitudes, storytelling was effective in attitude toward science, but no significant differences were found in scientific attitude. Third, instruction with storytelling didn't show a meaningful difference in scientific interest. However, in the sub-part, they showed a meaningful improvement in attention and satisfaction.

Neural Network Modeling supported by Change-Point Detection for the Prediction of the U.S. Treasury Securities

  • The purpose of this paper is to present a neural network model based on change-point detection for the prediction of the U.S. Treasury Securities. Interest rates have been studied by a number of researchers since they strongly affect other economic and financial parameters. Contrary to other chaotic financial data, the movement of interest rates has a series of change points due to the monetary policy of the U.S. government. The basic concept of this proposed model is to obtain intervals divided by change points, to identify them as change-point groups, and to use them in interest rates forecasting. The proposed model consists of three stages. The first stage is to detect successive change points in the interest rates dataset. The second stage is to forecast the change-point group with the backpropagation neural network (BPN). The final stage is to forecast the output with BPN. This study then examines the predictability of the integrated neural network model for interest rates forecasting using change-point detection.

모바일 과학학습 성과에 대한 시간관리, 유용성, 흥미의 예측력 검증 (Predictability of M-Learning Outcomes by Time management, Usefulness, and Interest in Science Education)

  • 본 연구는 시간관리, 유용성, 흥미가 모바일 과학학습 성과를 예측하는지 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 A여자 고등학교 2학년 학생 144명을 대상으로 약 5주 동안 모바일 기기를 활용하여 과학수업을 진행하였다. 수업 후, 시간관리, 유용성, 흥미, 만족도, 성취도, 학습지속의향에 관한 설문 결과를 수집하여, 상관분석 및 다중회귀분석으로 데이터를 분석하였다. 연구결과, 시간관리, 유용성, 흥미가 학습성과 중 만족도, 학습지속의향을 예측하였고, 시간관리, 유용성은 인지된 성취도를 유의미하게 예측하였다. 이는 모바일 과학수업에서 학습성과를 높이기 위해서는 시간관리전략에 대한 교육프로그램 제공과, 모바일학습에 대한 긍정적인 태도를 함양할 수 있도록 하는 교육이 마련되어야 함을 시사한다.
