The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of child rearing behavior and child rearing involvement on elementary school children's stress. The subjects were 201 children selected from 2 elementary schools and their parents. Data was collected using the children's stress index, the child rearing behavior questionnaire, and the child rearing involvement questionnaire, and was statistically analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA (Duncan test), correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. The study showed that there were some significant differences in children's stress according to the child's gender, grade, and scholastic achievement. Correlation analysis indicated that the child's stress and the mother's child rearing behavior had significant correlation, especially the warmth acceptance behavior of the mother indicated negative high correlation. Also, the child's stress and father's child rearing behavior had significant correlation, especially the rejection restriction behavior of the father indicated positive high correlation. Correlation analysis indicated that the child's stress and the mother's child rearing involvement had significant correlation, especially the family activities involvement of the mother indicated negative high correlation. As well, the child's stress and the father's child rearing involvement had significant correlation, especially the day to day guidance involvement of the father indicated negative high correlation. It was also found that rejection restriction behavior of the father, permissiveness non-intervention behavior of the father, day to day guidance involvement of the father, family activities involvement of the father, and warmth acceptance behavior of the mother were all significant predictors of the elementary school child's stress.
The purpose of this study was to develop children-friendly comic books and animation for dietary education of 3rd or 4th grade elementary students. Through a literature review on current dietary problems and dietary education for children, 15 educational themes were chosen on both healthy eating and safe dietary life. Comic books and animation were developed based on the themes by the brainstorming and help of professional animators, and they were applied and evaluated in the field. The developed comic books and animation, with its own characters, proved to be of high quality and effective educational materials for children's healthy and safe eating. Compared with the reference group, the tested group has shown a significant improvement in dietary knowledge and attitude (p < 0.05). And both parents (level of understanding 4.29, level of interest 4.49, level of usefulness 4.46, level of design satisfaction 3.95 in 5-point Likert scale) and children (level of understanding 4.63, level of interest 4.57, level of usefulness of 1st comic book 4.44, 2nd comic book 4.49, level of design satisfaction 4.06, level of usefulness for knowledge pages 4.22 in 5-point Likert scale) have shown high levels of interests and satisfaction. Therefore, these materials could be utilized as effective educational materials for elementary students in school lunch time, extra-curricular activities, or after school programs.
The purpose of this study are to investigate the actual conditions of residing environment in children's room and it's utilization. Further, basic for the guidence and the effective preparation of children's room and children's residing environment in addition willbe produce through grasping the actual conditions of them.The subjects of this study were 214 5th grade elementary school children living in Taegu. The analysis of the data was done through SPSS pc programs.The major findings of this study can be summarized as follow;1. The greater part of children had their own room, and they had the desk, the book case and the clothes chest in their room. But the numbers of children with the bed were few in comparison to those. And a large number of children wanted to have the bed and the computer in their room.2. There were significant differences in the actual conditions of residing environcent in children’s room according to the independent variables. For example, the existence of children's room was variable according to farther's job(0.1% level).3. The case of having their own room in the period of the lower grades in elemtary school dccupied the highest percentage. A lage number of children passed away time mostly in the women'a guarters. In the cleaner of children's room, the case of doing themselves occupied the highest rate as 51 percent.4. There were significant differences in the actual conditions of utilization in children's room according to the independent variables. For example, the period of separation from their parents was variable according to mother's educational level(5%), father's job(0.1%)and the numbers of room(1%).
Purpose: Food insecurity, which is the inability to obtain food or inadequate food consumption in terms of quality and quantity, has physical and psychological consequences on children's health. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between children's growth disorders and food insecurity in Qazvin city, Iran. Methods: A case-control study was conducted on 177 cases and 355 controls of children aged 3 to 6 years, who were referred to health centers in Qazvin city. The case group consisted of children with growth disorders. Data were obtained with the 18-item US Department of Agriculture questionnaire, a household socioeconomic questionnaire, a and growth monitoring card. The data were analyzed with using IBM SPSS Version 22.0, by independent sample t-test, chi-square test, and logistic regression. Results: A significant relationship was found between children's growth disorders and household food insecurity with (p<0.05, odds ratio [OR]=17.0, confidence interval [CI]=5.9, 48.8) and without hunger (p<0.05, OR=2.69, CI=1.4, 4.9). There were also significant relationships between children's growth disorders and socioeconomic status (p<0.05, OR=3.4, CI=1.4, 8.5), the duration of breastfeeding (p<0.05, OR=0.94, CI=0.9, 0.98), and children's ages (p<0.05, OR=0.94, CI=0.92, 0.96). Sex and birth order, and the age of the parents was not found to be significantly related with growth disorders. Conclusion: Lower socioeconomic status and household food insecurity were the important predictors of children's growth disorders. Policymakers should focus more on promoting steady employment and income among family members. Nutritional education for mothers is also recommended, in order to better meet the nutritional needs of the children.
The association between blood lead of children and Intelligent Quotient(I.Q) was investigated in a sample of 100 boys and girls aged $6\sim8$ years from one primary school within an industrial area of Pusan. The trained undergraduates in school of public health administered an 1.0. test one by one. Parents answered a questionnaire on demographic, perinatal and socioeconomic variables. Atomic Absorbtion Spectrophotometer was used to determine blood lead levels. The geometric mean of blood lead value was $7.99{\mu}g/dl$. In total children, there was no significant relationship between blood lead level and I.Q. But in the children who were born of gestational age of less than 38 weeks, children with higher levels of blood lead performed more poorly on I.Q test with correlation coefficient from -0.68 to -0.71. But, the children who were born of gestational age of 38 weeks and more were same as total children. These results suggest that exposure to low levels of lead in the children who were born premature probably may result in impaired intelligent development. But, We think that more profound study should be performed with sufficient numbers of subjects.

Purpose: HPV vaccination is important for the prevention of cervical cancer and genital warts and it is recommended that females be vaccinated against HPV before having sexual contact. Although the national HPV immunization has recently started in Korea, the vaccination rate is still not high. This is a relevant study attempting to investigate the factors affecting the vaccination status of female adolescents in the target age groups focusing on mothers' knowledge and health beliefs of HPV vaccines. Methods: Participants were 206 mothers who had daughters at the target age for the national HPV vaccination program living in a metropolitan city. Data were collected using a self-reported questionnaire about HPV knowledge and health beliefs of HPV vaccines, consisting of perceived susceptibility seriousness, benefits, barriers, and cues to action. Results: The participants' knowledge of HPV was significantly correlated with the overall health beliefs. The factors influencing mothers regarding the HPV vaccination status of their adolescent daughters were found to be perceived barriers, advice on vaccination from medical staff, and perceived benefits. Conclusion: There is a need to organize subject-specific education programs focusing on correcting misinformation about the side effects and benefits of HPV vaccines. When operating education programs, it is recommended that participants include both students and their parents, that various approaches be implemented such as formal health classes, home correspondence and online education, and that medical personnel be also involved as education providers.
Variables affecting bone heath of growing children were analyzed among forty nine 10-12 year old elementary students in three rural regions of north west Chungnam area. Information on age of the parents, duration of breast feeding and birth weight were collected from the guardians of the participants and nutrient intake and diet quality were assessed by average of three-day food records of participants with the help of dietitians. Bone health status was measured by calceneal broadband ultrasound attenuation (BUA) using quantitative ultrasound (QUS). Results showed that anthropometic indexes and nutrient intake levels were not different between boys and girls. However, iron intake was significantly lower in girls than in boys. Girls after menarche showed lower intake levels for thiamin, riboflavin, pyridoxine and niacin than girls before menarche. z-scores of BMI were lower than -1 and higher than +1 showed shorter breast feeding period than others but the difference was statistically non-significant. Overall, the subjects did not consume enough s of calcium, vitamin C and folic acid. Zinc intake and BMI were the most significant factors affecting BUA by the results of backward elimination in multiple regression models. Phosphorous and beta-carotene intakes showed significant negative relation with BUA. This study showed that children living in the rural area of Chungnam need extra care to keep their health and nutrient intakes especially for the nutrients known to affect growth. Tailored nutrition education needs to be more focused on the improvement of bone health status of children.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference between generations in awareness and acceptance of the commercial Korean traditional foods. the survey was carried out through questionnaire and the subjects were 316 middle school students and 299 parents of the other students in the same schools. Five middle schools in Chongju, Chungbuk were included. The results were as follow: 1) Students showed higher awareness than adults for cooked rices and much lower for gruels except pumpkin gruel. Difference between generations was existed in the acceptance for Yuk-gae-jang rice, plain rice, abalone porridge, pollack gruel and pinenut gruel. 2) Among soups, students were more aware of seaweed soup and rib-broth than adults and adults were more aware of bone broth than students. Students showed higher acceptance than adults for seaweed soup, Yuk-gae-jang, Gom-tang and rib broth, whereas adults showed higher acceptance than students for pollack soup. 3) Most of one bowl meals were highly known by both students and adults without any specific generation differences. Students liked the best sauteed rice cake and they like sauteed rice cake and Japchae(sauteed noodle with mixed vegetables) much more than adults. 4) There was no generation difference in the awareness of grilled and pan fried foods Grilled and pan fried foods were favored more by students than adults except grilled laver which was highly favored by both groups. 5) Generation difference was appeared in the awareness of Kimchi and salt fermented fishes, especially salt fermented fishes were much more known by adults than students. And also the acceptance of adults were higher than that of students for the most Kimchi and salt fermented fishes.
The purpose of this paper is to present the effective operation method of cyber home learning system 2.0. Cyber home learning system 2.0 which plays an important role to produce and share data of internet users establishing user-centered internet environment is recently introduced as web 2.0 is beginning to appear. This research is based on the case of the operation on cyber home learning system, research literature of web 2.0 as well as expert consulting and performance test. After doing this research, cyber home learning system 2.0 can bring enormous educational effect when it has online education using web-based discussion tool and long distance consulting linking with off line school education. Redundant system configuration, the distributed processing also may be provided by the service was smooth. Moreover, it demands monitoring team consisting of student, parents and teacher in order to provide developmental service.
This study was performed in order to verify the effect of family resilience in youth suicide. The subject was the third year of high school boys in Gwang-ju, 308 questionnaires were used in the analysis. In order to derive the results of a study, we used the statistical processing technique SPSS, to perform verification of factor analysis and reliability of each variable, AMOS analysis was performed for hypothesis testing. According to the result of the study, belief systems which was sub-variables of family resiliency affect communication, and communication influence on the idea of adolescents suicide. In addition, the belief system has an indirect impact on the communication mediated suicidal thought. Thus, If we emphasize the harmony between family, suicidal thought of adolescent will be reduced. So we proposed the way to increase the belief of the family, and ways to improve communication between parents and children.
