  • This study investigated IRA's 3 standards related to reading instruction and examined the value which can be meaningful to Korean situation. IRA divided reading educators into 7 types and proposed each detailed professional standard through the 'Standards for reading professionals'. The next standard called 'Standards for the English language art' described their direction and content for English language education including reading instruction. The 'Standards for the assessment of reading and writing' aims at the basis to evaluate students' reading ability. The value found through these standards is as follow: IRA's reading professionals standard can be a useful way to define the type of reading educator in Korea. A reading instruction standard like IRA's language art standard can guide reading instruction of Korean libraries in a more systemic and consistent way. A valid evaluation standard to measure students' reading ability can show the possibilities to define the students who struggle with reading and to provide more suitable instruction for them.

  • This exploratory study outlines the rationalization of why Ontology's taxonomy requires a strong hierarchy, accuracy, and interoperability in order to be used as a successfully re-useable information management system. Finding the relevant information in a plethora of possible resources by bridging the gap between the user's needs and the resources of the information technology system is the goal that the information management field should find a way to achieve. This study is based on discussions and interviews with a taxonomist, information architect, and information manager, whose discussions were based on the usability and interoperability of the knowledge based information systems. These professional perspectives are necessary as they are the liaison between users and the information technology group. We found that in order for information managers to ensure successful sharing of knowledge across the end users, a common sense language must be issued in order to achieve reasoning for the artificial intelligence system.

  • Mixed Reality (MR) shows a composite image of a virtual object in the real world. It has been applied to various fields by the introduction of head mounted display (HMD) such as Microsoft's Hololens [1-3]. The virtual studio in broadcasting combines the contents created by computer graphics with the actual set to reproduce the 3D image screen. This requires physical space such as a set of chroma keys. It also requires professional knowledge and manpower and costly equipment to post-process the graphics and information for long periods of time. Therefore, in this paper, we aim to study the implementation of virtual studio based on Mixed Reality using Microsoft Hololens. Through the implementation of 'Holo-studio' application, realistic and virtual objects of broadcasting camera viewpoint were acquired at the same time. Using Microsoft's spectator view library, the frame rate is degraded in objects with high polygons (100,000 polygons). The proposed method maintains 60 fps image transmission in high polygon objects. The results of this paper show the possibility of using virtual studio at low cost which does not need separate physical space.

  • FoxO1, a member of the Forkhead transcription factor family subgroup O (FoxO), is expressed in a range of cell types and is crucial for various pathophysiological processes, such as apoptosis and inflammation. While FoxO1's roles in multiple diseases have been recognized, the target has remained largely unexplored due to the absence of cost-effective and efficient inhibitors. Therefore, there is a need for natural FoxO1 inhibitors with minimal adverse effects. In this study, docking, MMGBSA, and ADMET analyses were performed to identify natural compounds that exhibit strong binding affinity to FoxO1. The top candidates were then subjected to molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. A natural product library was screened for interaction with FoxO1 (PDB ID-3CO6) using the Glide module of the Schrödinger suite. In silico ADMET profiling was conducted using SwissADME and pkCSM web servers. Binding free energies of the selected compounds were assessed with the Prime-MMGBSA module, while the dynamics of the top hits were analyzed using the Desmond module of the Schrödinger suite. Several natural products demonstrated high docking scores with FoxO1, indicating their potential as FoxO1 inhibitors. Specifically, the docking scores of neochlorogenic acid and fraxin were both below -6.0. These compounds also exhibit favorable drug-like properties, and a 25 ns MD study revealed a stable interaction between fraxin and FoxO1. Our findings highlight the potential of various natural products, particularly fraxin, as effective FoxO1 inhibitors with strong binding affinity, dynamic stability, and suitable ADMET profiles.

  • Assessment of information credibility is a ubiquitous human activity given that people constantly make decisions and selections based on the value of information in a variety of information seeking and use contexts. Today, people are increasingly engaging in diverse online activities beyond searching for and reading information, including activities such as creating, tagging and rating content, shopping, and listening to and watching multimedia content. The Web 2.0 environment presents new challenges for people because the burden of information evaluation is shifted from professional gatekeepers to individual information consumers. At the same time, however, it also provides unprecedented opportunities for people to use tools and features that help them to make informed credibility judgments by relying on other people's ratings and recommendations. This paper introduces fundamental notions and dimensions of credibility, and contends that credibility assessment can be best understood with respect to human information behavior because it encompasses both the level of effort people exert as well as the heuristics they employ to evaluate information. The paper reports on a survey study investigating people's credibility judgments with respect to online information, focusing on the constructs, heuristics, and interactions involved in people's credibility assessment processes within the context of their everyday life information activities. Using an online activity diary method, empirical data about people's online activities and their associated credibility assessments were collected at multiple points throughout the day for three days. The results indicate that distinct credibility assessment heuristics are emerging as people engage in diverse online activities involving more user-generated and multimedia content. A heuristic approach suggests that people apply mental shortcuts or rules of thumb in order to minimize the amount of cognitive effort and time required to make credibility judgments. The paper discusses why a heuristic approach is key to reaching a more comprehensive understanding of people's credibility assessments within the information-abundant online environment.

  • This study aims to answer whether social tagging through user collaboration could be utilized for the creation of digital knowledge of the web, and whether we could verify the quality and efficacy of social tagging to obtain benefits from it. In particular, this paper examines the inter-indexer consistency of social tagging in comparison to professional indexing. It employs two different similarity measures, both of which are based on the Vector Space Model to deal with numerous indexers. It contributes to the utilization of social tagging in the organization of the web, and encourages to adopt social knowledge in developing suitable vocabularies for resources newly generated in the digital library environment. Furthermore, the comparative analysis with two different measures produced more credible results by illustrating a similar pattern of indexing tendency in both measures.

  • Although it has been a long subject of study why researchers prefer some cited documents to others, the existing relative researches have had a variety of perspectives on the nature and complexity of the citation behavior and not provided a complete answer to this question. In particular, Korea researchers mainly used statistical analysis of bibliographic information, which has limitations in revealing dynamic and complex cognitive aspects of the citation process. In this study, I investigate the citer perception of citing motives and bibliographic factors through survey and compared the responses according to the researchers' characteristics. After extracting the 22 motivations and 21 factors through the literature analysis and configuring a 5-point Likert scale questions, I conducted a survey in the wat of an e-mail attachment. From the SPSS 22.0, the frequency analysis, t-test, and one-way ANOVA were performed on the 354 valid samples. As a result, it is found that supporting is considered the most important citing motive and social connection, self-citation have little influence. In the case of bibliographic factors, the journal's reputation was recognized the most influential factor and the number of pages and authors was the least. Significant differences in fields of study and research careers were showed in some parts. These results can substantiate earlier studies, determine whether the factors assumed influential in selecting references were intended, and suggest the search point to the specialty library or academic database.
