This study aims to suggest the ways to reinforce academic library's research support services for professors and researchers in Korea. For this purpose, this study collected the development plans of academic libraries in Korea, and analysed the plans for supporting research activities, and also analysed each library's homepage. And this research classified the research support services of academic libraries into eight types for further analysis. The types are 'subject guide', 'academic information literacy', 'research analysis service', 'research consulting', 'research ethics education', 'thesis writing guide', 'bibliography management program', 'interlibrary loan·original text copy'. As a result, it is shown that the most libraries emphasized 'custom-tailored user education' and marked it on development plan. As subsequent plans, libraries provided the action plans of 'expansion of scholarly DB instruction on each subject', 'expansion of custom-tailored research support services', 'construction of research support service system' one after another. This study suggests 'activation of subject guide service', 'expansion of academic information literacy programs for supporting research', 'introduction of research performance analysis services', and 'support for establishment of research ethics' as ways to strengthen academic libraries' research support services.

Nowadays, due to an explosive increase in information, information filtering is very important to provide proper information for users. Users hardly obtain scholarly information from a huge amount of information in NDSL of KISTI, except for simple search. In this paper, we propose the service, PIN to solve this problem. Pin provides the word cloud including analyzed users' and others' interesting, co-occurence, and searched keywords, rather than the existing word cloud simply consisting of all keywords and so offers user-customized papers, reports, patents, and trends. In addition, PIN gives the paper classification in NDSL according to keyword matching based classification with the overlapping classification enabled-academic classification system for better search and access to solve this problem. In this paper, Keywords are extracted according to the classification from papers published in Korean journals in 2016 to design classification model and we verify this model.

This study analyzed recent cases of transition to open access(OA) journals in humanities and social sciences(HSS) in foreign countries to find a way to transition to OA journals in Korea. Ling OA and UP led by researchers, OLH and KU led by libraries, S2O led by publishers and L+F model led by funders and libraries were analyzed. Programs by national funding agencies such as the Norwegian Research Council, Canada Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, Austrian Science Fund, and Swiss Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences were also reviewed. Based on the results of the analyses, this study suggests for transition in Korean HSS field as follows; 1) transitions to open access journals in HSS should be supported at national level 2) the stakeholder in scholarly communications such as the nation, universities, libraries, research funders, scholarly societies etc has their own role in the transition but funders and libraries are the most important in financial support for open access publishing 3) but the financial support for the first stage of the transition should be done at national level 4) and open access journal publishing consortium comprised of libraries and information service institutions in the public sector such as KERIS, KISTI and the national library should be established 5) non commercial publishing platforms for scholarly societies should be developed and distributed.

This study aims to introduce an emerging prescriptive analytics method and suggest its efficient application to a category-based service system. Prescriptive analytics method provides the whole process of analysis and available alternatives as well as the results of analysis. To simulate the process of optimization, large scale journal articles have been collected and categorized by classification scheme. In the process of applying the concept of prescriptive analytics to a real system, we have fused a dynamic automatic-categorization method for large scale documents and intellectual structure analysis method for scholarly subject fields. The test result shows that some optimized scenarios can be generated efficiently and utilized effectively for reorganizing the classification-based service system.

The study aims to identify the problems of the research support service in presidential archives for users who use archives for scholarly purposes. For these purposes, the study conducted a literature survey. Moreover, this study compared and analyzed the content of presidential archives' Web sites between the U.S. and Korea. In addition, we examined the interviews via e-mail with an archivist working in the presidential archives in the U.S. and gained the materials from the presidential archives in Korea through a request of information disclosure. It was found that six improvements were considered by academic users to meet their needs. Consequently, based on the analysis, a research support services framework consisting of a service category was developed. With the proposed services, the academic utilization of presidential archives can be facilitated.

With the help of information technology, PVR has been evaluated as an innovative device that brings epochal changes for program selection and convenience of receivers with the convergence between broadcasting and telecommunication. Satellite broadcasters introduced PVR service to strengthen its interactive function. This study analyzed PVR user behavior and how it changed the existing TV viewing behavior through satellite subscribers. The results revealed that PVR subscribers mainly used it for time shifting like VCR use. FUrthermore, heavy PVR users watched TV more than on average and enjoyed a divers genre of programs. This study provides scholarly implication for PVR using behavior and its effects and its useful information for contents and marketing strategy to help PVR service popularization.

This study aims to investigate bibliometric services practices of foreign libraries by service types and suggest practical considerations for Korean libraries wishing to implement bibliometric services. Through the examination of previous research and library websites, nine types of bibliometric services were identified under two broad categories - education & consulting services and research evaluation & research trend services. According to the service types, a wide range of bibliometric services activities were analyzed and described. Recommendations from the study for service development include: building an institutional repository for scholarly output; developing subject guides and education programs at the initial phase of service and providing more advanced services such as consulting and analysis services at the later phase; identifying the potential service needs of researcher groups.

Subject classification of thesis units is essential to serve scholarly information deliverables. However, to date, there is a journal-based topic classification, and there are not many article-level subject classification services. In the case of academic papers among domestic works, subject classification can be a more important information because it can cover a larger area of service and can provide service by setting a range. However, the problem of classifying themes by field requires the hands of experts in various fields, and various methods of verification are needed to increase accuracy. In this paper, we try to classify topics using the unsupervised learning algorithm to find the correct answer in the unknown state and compare the results of the subject classification algorithms using the coherence and perplexity. The unsupervised learning algorithms are a well-known Hierarchical Dirichlet Process (HDP), Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) and Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) algorithm.

The academic journal is an important medium carrying newly discovered knowledge in various disciplines. It is desirable to consider visualization of journal and article information in order to make the information more insightful and effective than text-based information. In this study, visualization service platform of journal and article information is developed. TagCloud were included in both Infographics of journal and article. Each word in the TagCloud is inter-linked with DBPedia using Linked Open Data (LOD) technique.

Due to the low usage level of traditional financial services in many developing countries, Fintech services that often substitute for such traditional services with greater convenience have great potential in these markets. However, there have thus far been relatively few attempts to examine Fintech adoption in developing countries. As financial services are a highly sensitive industry in terms of government regulation and consumer trust, it is critical for policymakers to understand how to foster a healthy Fintech marketplace in developing country environments. In this paper, we review the scholarly literature on Fintech adoption with respect to three stakeholder groups: customers, service providers, and policymakers. Adding with practitioner-oriented documentation relating to Fintech adoption in Vietnam, we derive propositions for Fintech adoption research in Vietnam and similar developing countries. We collect these propositions as a framework that suggests avenues for future research.
