정상초음파가 개재하는 프로판/공기 예혼합화염의 슐리렌기법에 의한 가시화 (A Visualization of the Propane/Air Premixed Flame Interacting with an Ultrasonic Standing-wave by Schlieren Photography)

  • An investigation into the influence of ultrasonic standing wave on the structural behavior of propane/air premixed flame has been made to get a clue to the combustion reaction acceleration and combustion instability. Visualization technique utilizing the Schlieren photography was employed for the observation of structural variation of the flame reaction zone. Evolutionary characteristics of the flame front were caught by the high-speed Schlieren image, through which local flame velocity of the moving front were analyzed in detail.

  • In the present study, the structure and the characteristics of gaseous premixed flame impinging normal to the flat plate have been investigated experimentally. For the examination of the heat transfer and combustion characteristics, measurements of temperature, direct and schlieren photography were performed. The results of present study show that the length of inner flame becomes smaller as distance from nozzle exit to plate decrease. The width of flame becomes larger as air-fuel ratio decreases. The smaller Reynolds number at nozzle exit and the smaller distance from nozzle exit to plate lead to the higher heat transfer rate in the region of center of plate. As the air-fuel ratio decreases, the heat transfer at plate with moderate rate occurs on wide region.

  • In this study, a rapid compression and expansion machine(RCEM) equipped with a swirl generator was designed and developed, in order to clarify normal and abnormal combustion(knocking phenomena). This RCEM is intended to simulate combustion process in actual automotive S.I.engines, having a high reproducibility in the compression stroke. Flame propagation and autoignition processes associated with normal and abnormal combustion were captured by the high speed schlieren photography. And swirl intensity. equivalence ratio and ignition position were varied to investigate the effect of turbulence, concentration in the unburnt gas region and flame propagation length. The knock intensity, knock mass fraction and knock mass fraction after autoignition were calculated by use of history of measured cylinder pressure.

  • 본 연구에서는 혼합기를 연소실 내로 공급하기 전에 필터를 이용하여 일정 크 기의 미립자를 제거함으로서 가능한 Mie산란의 영향을 감소시키고, 또 화학 발광의 영 향을 제거하기 위하여 광학장치의 개선 및 광학 필터를 사용하였다. 뿐만 아니라 연 소실 내의 배경광 및 반사산란광을 제거하기 위한 방법으로 입사창 및 연소실 내를 모 두 코팅을 하였다. 따라서 레이저 레일레이 산란을 이용하여 지금까지 나타난 문제 점들을 위와 같은 방법으로 개선하였을 뿐만 아니라 측정기술을 향상시켜 정적연소실 내에서의 온도를 측정함으로서 정적연소실 내에서의 온도측정이 가능하다는 것을 확인 하고, 또 그 적응성을 조사하는데 중점을 두어 실험을 하였다.

  • It is very important to clarify the ignition and flame propagation processes of methanol fuel in the Spark-ignition engine. High speed Schlieren photography and pressure trace analyses were used to study on combustion characteristics of methanol fuel in a constant volume chamber. Methanol-air mixtures equivalence rations from lean limit to 1.4 were ignited at initial pressure (0.1, 0.3, 0.5 MPa), temperature (313 343, 373 K) and ignition energy (40, 180 mJ). As the result of this study, we verified the characteristics such as ignition delay, effective thermal efficiency, flame propagation velocity, lean limit, ignitability and combustion duration. Obatained results are as follows. (1) The time to 10% reach of maximum pressure was 40-50% of the total combustion duration for this experimental condition hardly affected by equivalence ratio. (2) The Effective thermal efficiency, as calculated from maximum pressure was the highest when the mixture was slightly lean $({\phi} 0.8-0.9)$ and maximum pressure was the highest when the mixiture was slightly rich $({\phi} 1.2-1.2).$

유화연료의 분사압력이 연소특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Injection Pressure of Water-in-Oil Emulsified Fuel on the Combustion Characteristics)

  • This study was carried on the combustion characteristics of a pure light oil and emulsified fuels at high-pressure injection in a spray combustion installation, The volume fractions of water in an emulsion were varied up to 30% and the injection pressures were 7.5, 100, 200, and $300kg_f/cm^2$. The concentrations of NOx and the average temperatures of flame were measured. And Images of OH radical using ICCD camera and instantaneous schlieren photography of flames were photographed. It was found that the temperature distribution of axial distance in the emulsified fuels was increased in the upstream and decreased in the down stream. The temperature distribution of radial distance was high at the peripheral regions of the spray in the upstream and at the central regions of spray in the downstream, The intensity of OH radical was denser at the water content 10% than at the pure light oil over the injection pressure $200kg_f/cm^2$.

미연혼합기의 난류특성과 화염 스케일에 관한 실험적 연구 (An experimental study on characteristics of mixture turbulence and flame scale)

  • The high loading combustion is accomplished by making the turbulent intensity strong and the scale small in the premixed combustor. The Da-mkoler number, which is decreased by short turbulent characteristic time or by long chemical reaction time, can make the distributed reaction flame. So we developed a doubled jet burner for high loading combustion. The doubled jet burner was designed to make the scale of the flame small by the effect of impingement and increasing shear stress with doubled jet. We investigated the turbulence characteristics of unburned mixture and visualized several flames with the typical schlieren photography. Then we studied the influence of several factors that related the scale of flame. Consequently, the doubled jet burner can make the eddy very small. And we can obtain the detail information of the flame scale through ADSF(the Average Distance between Successive Fringes) in the micro- schlieren photography. The ADSF is not a exact flame scale, but it has qualitative trend with increasing turbulent intensity. The ADSF is diminished remarkably with increasing turbulent intensity. The reason is that strong turbulent intensity makes the flame zone thick and flamelets numerous. We can confirm this fact by the signal analysis of ion currents.

  • This paper deals with the experimental study of the turbulent flow fields by the hot-wire anemometer and the density fields by the Schlieren photography. In this study, the air mixed with CO$_{2}$ was used to visualize and to study this process and experimental parameters used were valve lift and valve shape. The results obtained are as follows: 1) The axial velocity of mixture flow passing a valve is changed greatly by valve seat angle and valve lift. Especially, it is changed more when the valve seat angles is 30.deg. and 45.deg. than when these are 60.deg. and 90.deg. 2) Experimental results by hot wire anemometer and Schlieren apparatus are very close together. The most satisfactory results are shown when the valve seat angle is 45.deg.

  • A flame speed of methane mixture of water vapor and air have been measured to study the process of flame propagation using schlieren photographs. The quantity of water vapor contained were changed 5% and 10% of total mixture, and equivalence ratio of mixture between 0.8 and 1.2 were tested under the ambient temperature 323K and 373K. The results showed that the burning velocity was decreased by increasing the water vapor contents due to the interruption of flame development. And, the reduction rate of burning velocity was smaller by increasing the water contents under the same ambient temperature. The effects of ambient temperature on burning velocity was decreased by increasing the water vapor contents.

  • 정상초음파의 영향을 받는 메탄-공기 예혼합화염의 주파수-당량비 상관도 분석을 위한 실험적 연구가 수행되었다. 슐리렌가시화기법을 이용하여 예혼합화염의 전파영상을 획득하였으며, 영상 후처리를 통해 화염의 구조변이 및 전파거동을 면밀히 관찰하였다. 정상초음파가 개재할 때, 화염선단과 기연부에서 구조적 변이와 연소반응 촉진으로 인한 화염의 전파속도의 증가를 가져온다는 사실에 더하여, 초음파 구동주파수와 당량비에 대한 화염거동의 종속성을 확인하였다.
