효율적인 하드웨어 공유를 위한 단어길이 최적화 알고리듬 (A bitwidth optimization algorithm for efficient hardware sharing)

  • This paper presents a bitwidth optimization algorithm for efficient hardware sharing in digital signal processing system. The proposed algorithm determines the fixed-point representation for each signal through bitwidth optimization to generate the hardware requiring less area. To reduce the operator area, the algorithm partitions the abstract operations in the design description into several groups, such that the operations in the same group can share an operator. The partitioning result are fed to a high-level synthesis system to generate the pipelined fixed-point datapaths. The proposed algorithm has been implemented in SODAS-DSP an automatic synthesis system for fixed-point DSP hardware. Accepting the models of DSP algorithms in schematics, the system automatically generates the fixed-point datapath and controller satisfying the design constraints in area, speed, and SNR(Signal-to-Noise Ratio). Experimental results show that the efficiency of the proposed algorithm by generates the area-efficient DSP hardwares satisfying performance constraints.

  • The use of conventional Twyman and Fizeau interferometers inevitably fails in testing high precision optics because of errors always existing in reference elements producing the reference wavefront. Therefore it is necessary to apply to this task the interferometers of a radically new type, which are able to produce perfect reference wavefront with the help of light diffraction by a small obstacle or pinhole. In this paper new theoretical approaches and schematics of point diffraction interferometers are considered in detail with paying attention to constructive reliability. Such interferometers do not use reference optical surfaces and readily provide adequate estimation of errors and aberrations value of 0.01 wavelengths.

  • A nanoelectromechanical (NEM) switching device based on carbon nanotube (CNT) was investigated using atomistic simulations. The model schematics for a CNT based three-terminal NEM switching device fabrication were presented. for the CNT-based three-terminal NEM switch, the interactions between the CNT-lever and the drain electrode or the substrate were very important. When the electrostatic force applied to the CNT-lever was the critical point, the CNT-lever was rapidly bent because of the attractive foroe between the CNT-lever and the drain. The energy curves for the pull-in and the pull-out processes showed the hysteresis loop that was induced by the adhesion of the CNT on the copper, which was the interatomic interaction between the CNT and the copper.

A Comparison of Simulation Characteristics of VacCAD and VacTran as Vacuum Simulator

  • In this study, we compared the VacCAD and VacTran, commercial vacuum simulators, to investigate the simulation applicability and efficiency as vacuum simulation software. It was verified on reliability and simplicity of simulation modelling, and characteristics of the pump combinations, pumping down curves, and employed vacuum materials. First, usability of simulation schematics was estimated through the modeling tools and the overall simulation characteristics of each simulator were compared to evaluate the applicability in practice. Simulation reliability of each simulator was also probed by comparing the pumping performance characteristics of commercial high vacuum system models. In addition, the degree of tolerances on both simulators was also evaluated through pumping down analysis considering outgassing effect due to chamber material variations. The higher effectiveness and expediency of VacCAD than VacTran has been presented, and it was also expected that the utilization of VacTan in vacuum applications to be increased due to the higher availability of modelling variations.

  • 최근 들어 공장자동화의 프레임 그래버 분야에서 전통적인 아날로그 인터페이스 대신 고속, 고해상도의 디지털 인터페이스 방식의 카메라로의 전환이 이루어지고 있으며 이들은 카메라링크를 표준으로 채택하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 PC를 사용하지 않는 임베디드 프레임 그래버 테스트베드를 개발하여 영상처리 응용 솔루션을 제공하고자 한다. 따라서 카메라링크 표준의 라인스캔 CCD 카메라와의 접속을 위하여 하드웨어 회로를 설계하였고 VHDL 코드를 이용하여 FPGA를 프로그래밍하였다. 향후 광학영상기 등의 의료영상, 머신비젼, 산업전자 등의 다양한 영상처리에 본 칩을 이용할 수 있을 것이다.

  • 본 논문은 JSP (Java Server Page) 웹 서버 기반 인터넷 웹 브라우저 용 회로부품정보 관리 시스템을 구축하였다. 설계자가 부품정보의 검색 및 신규 등록을 수행할 수 있도록 하였으며, 이를 EDA (Electronic Design Automation) 시스템과 직접 연동하여 회로 및 부품의 설계를 실 시간적으로 적용하도록 하는 웹 연동 회로부품 관리 시스템을 구현하였다. 그리하여 개별 설계자들이 작성 관리하던 EDA 시스템 부품 라이브러리를 웹 기반으로 관리 사용할 수 있도록 하여 회로설계 및 부품 개발에 효율성을 이루었다.

A Design for a Home-Built Solid State NMR Spectrometer

  • Since the first commercial NMR spectrometer came out in 1953 from Varian, much of the hardware development has been improved and matured through commercial equipments. Many of magnetic resonance laboratories however still build and use home-built spectrometers, which are satisfactory even with the consideration of educational purpose only. The home-built NMR spectrometer could be further advantageous and could be often an only option for investigating new ideas with demanding experimental conditions or new hardware support. A solid state NMR spectrometer was designed with extra interest in stochastic experiment and built for an 8.93 T superconducting magnet from Oxford instrument. Super-heterodyned system was implemented for the transmitter and receiver parts. Intermediate frequency (IF) for the heterodyne system was chosen to 70 MHz for the first and the second channels, with additional 120 MHz for the third channel for maximum NMR frequency capability. We will show overall schematics, and discuss the designs with detailed diagrams, then demonstrate the applicability of home-built spectrometer with stochastic-excitation in solid state NMR and in applications to quadrupolar nuclear Spins.

원자로 내부구조물 재료열화이력 및 관리방안 (Material degradation and its management of reactor internals in PWR)

  • The number of nuclear power plants operating in Korea was 24 as of year 2015. Nine units out of 24 units have been operated for a period over 20 years. Kori unit 1 has been in operation for 40 years, and an extended operation for Wolsong unit 1 was decided in 2015. There has been reported some crackings in reactor internals in PWR have been reported in Europe, USA, Japan and Korea, and some of them were replaced with new one. Repair and replacement technologies for the reactor internals have been developing in order to meet the regulatory requirements for long term operation in Korea. The technologies will also be used for the exported nuclear units. It is required to review degradation history of the reactor internals worldwide as a part of the degradation management program development. Schematics of reactor internals designed and supplied by Westinghouse, Framatome and Combustion Engineering are described herein. Materials degradation history of reactor internals of PWR plants in USA, Japan and Europe is surveyed and summarized. Some events from Korean plants are also described. Aging management strategy for the internals is suggested.

  • In designing a LLC resonant converter, the ratio of magnetizing inductance ($L_M$) to resonant inductance ($L_R$), the inductor ratio (K) is usually considered. In high power density adapter, both adapter size and efficiency are important factors. Considering the size of adapter, high K design can be more attractive. But, wide frequency variation of high K design results in design difficulty of magnetic elements and decrease in efficiency. To solve these drawbacks, an adaptive link voltage variation (ALVV) control is proposed. With the proposed control method, the LLC resonant converter can be operated at the resonant frequency despite the output voltage variation. The control strategy and schematics are presented, and verified experimentally.

  • 본 논문에서는 현재까지 개발된 액체산소, 케로신을 추진제로 하는 액체로켓엔진시스템 개발을 위한 엔진시스템 및 가스발생기와 터보펌프 등의 주요 엔진 구성품의 개발 결과를 살펴보았으며, 액체로켓엔진 개발 시험의 중간 단계로서 연소기를 제외한 터보펌프 등의 엔진 주요 구성품을 이용한 터보펌프+가스발생기 연계시험 수행을 위한 준비로서 터보펌프+가스발생기 연계시험의 시험기 및 시험설비 구성이 제시되었으며, 연계 시험 작동 영역에 대한 시스템 해석결과도 제시하였다.
