As abnormal climate phenomena occur more frequently due to climate change, damage which results from meteorological disaster increases accordingly and its scale and variety are becoming wider. This paper draws out planning and design elements and application techniques to build cities more adaptive to climate change from urban development cases in US and Europe. An urban model is suggested, that enables built environment to be more resilient to risks caused by climate change is applicable to urban development projects in practice.
This study was undertaken to observe the effects of the antineoplastic agent, 5-Fluorouracil(5 FU) on the hair in Sprague-Dawley white rats. Twenty four sprague-Dawley strain white rats, each weighing about 150-200 grams were used and divided into control and experimental groups. In the experimental group, eighteen rats were injected intraperitonially with 60 mg of 5-FU per killogram body weight with one time per two days, Six rats were injected with 0.5 cc of normal saline solution intraperitoneally as a placebo on this control group. Rats were serially sacrificed on the first, third, fifth, seventh, tenth and fourteenth day after 2 times of injection of 5-FU and saline. The hair were obtained and observed SEM. After examination and comparision of all specimens, the results of this study were as follows: 1. In the control group, the scale and cuticle of hair was observed smooth surface and equal interval 2. In the experimental group, the first day, scale change was seen from body of hair and crack was seen. from fifth day, and irregular scale and cuticle of hair was seen from 10, 14 days 3. The apperance of root of hair was not almost change From above results, 5-Fluorouracil was more effective on the hair body. The change was begun from first day and crack of scale was seen from fifth day and irregular scale and cuticle of hair was seen from 10,14 days. The.

In the thin film alloy formation of the transition metals ion-beam-mixing technique forms a metastable structure which cannot be found in the arc-melted metal alloys. Sppecifically it is well known that the studies about the electronic structure of ion-beam-mixed alloys pprovide the useful information in understanding the metastable structures in the metal alloy. We studied the electronic change in the ion-beam-mixed ppt-Ct alloys by XppS and XANES. These analysis tools pprovide us information about the charge transfer in the valence band of intermetallic bonding. The multi-layered films were depposited on the SiO2 substrate by the sequential electron beam evapporation at a ppressure of less than 5$\times$10-7 Torr. These compprise of 4 ppairs of ppt and Cu layers where thicknesses of each layer were varied in order to change the alloy compposition. Ion-beam-mixing pprocess was carried out with 80 keV Ae+ ions with a dose of $1.5\times$ 1016 Ar+/cm2 at room tempperature. The core and valence level energy shift in these system were investigated by x-ray pphotoelectron sppectroscoppy(XppS) pphotoelectrons were excited by monochromatized Al K a(1486.6 eV) The ppass energy of the hemisppherical analyzer was 23.5 eV. Core-level binding energies were calibrated with the Fermi level edge. ppt L3-edge and Cu K-edge XANES sppectra were measured with the flourescence mode detector at the 3C1 beam line of the ppLS (ppohang light source). By using the change of White line(WL) area of the each metal sites and the core level shift we can obtain the information about the electrons pparticippating in the intermetallic bonding of the ion-beam-mixed alloys.

This paper proposes a method for classifying targets robust to geometric transformations of targets such as rotation, scale change, translation, and pose change. Targets which have rotation, scale change, and shift is firstly classified based on CM(Confidence Map) which is generated by similarity, scale ratio, and range of orientation for SIFT(Scale-Invariant Feature Transform) feature vectors. On the other hand, DB(DataBase) which is acquired in various angles is used to deal with pose variation of targets. Range of the angle is determined by comparing and analyzing the execution time and performance for sampling intervals. We experiment on various images which is geometrically changed to evaluate performance of proposed target classification method. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has a good classification performance.
Land Use and Land Cover Changes (LUCC) occur over a wide range of space and time scales, and involve complex natural, socio-economic, and institutional processes. Therefore, modelling and predicting LUCC demands an understanding of how various measured properties behave when considered at different scales. Understanding spatial and temporal variability of driving forces and constraints on LUCC is central to understanding the scaling issues. This paper aims to 1) assess the heterogeneity of land cover change processes over the landscape in northern Ghana, where intensification of agricultural activities has been the dominant land cover change process during the past 15 years, 2) characterise dominant land cover change mechanisms for various spatial scales, and 3) identify the optimal spatial scale for LUCC modelling in a savanna landscape. A multivariate statistical method was first applied to identify land cover change intensity (LCCI), using four time-sequenced NDVI images derived from LANDSAT scenes. Three proxy land use change predictors: distance from roads, distance from surface water bodies, and a terrain characterisation index, were regressed against the LCCI using a multi-scale hierarchical adaptive model to identify scale dependency and spatial heterogeneity of LUCC processes. High spatial associations between the LCCI and land use change predictors were mostly limited to moving windows smaller than 10$\times$10km. With increasing window size, LUCC processes within the window tend to be too diverse to establish clear trends, because changes in one part of the window are compensated elsewhere. This results in a reduced correlation between LCCI and land use change predictors at a coarser spatial extent. The spatial coverage of 5-l0km is incidentally equivalent to a village or community area in the study region. In order to reduce spatial variability of land use change processes for regional or national level LUCC modelling, we suggest that the village level is the optimal spatial investigation unit in this savanna landscape.
An adaptive-scale damage detection strategy based on a wavelet finite element model (WFEM) for thin plate structures is established in this study. Equations of motion and corresponding lifting schemes for thin plate structures are derived with the tensor products of cubic Hermite multi-wavelets as the elemental interpolation functions. Sub-element damages are localized by using of the change ratio of modal strain energy. Subsequently, such damages are adaptively quantified by a damage quantification equation deduced from differential equations of plate structure motion. WFEM scales vary spatially and change dynamically according to actual needs. Numerical examples clearly demonstrate that the proposed strategy can progressively locate and quantify plate damages. The strategy can operate efficiently in terms of the degrees-of-freedom in WFEM and sensors in the vibration test.
This paper will investigate the friction characteristics of a 100m Hexagonal Array, Micro-scale Dimple Pattern, on bearing steel. These characteristics are researched by utilizing a pin-on-disk wear test machine, under various test conditions. The reduction of friction is a necessary requirement for the improved efficiency of this machine. As the speed increases, there is a decrease in the effect of the dimple of friction characteristic, with substantially little change to density. Conversely, as the load increases, the dimple pattern grows larger, resulting in a difference in the texture of these two components. At a dimple density of 10% the friction characteristic is easily demonstrated, with a consistent change in both speed and load.
This research is the hair damage as treating a perm before and after that is compared the change of surface characteristics of human hair. On the basis of this, we would to show a basic data for hair damage prevention and hair improvement to keep the beautiful and healthy hair. Results are as follows; For the change of formational characteristics of hair surface, untreated hair before the perm treatment had smooth appearance overall and undamaged scale that is in pattern and finely folded was observed but damaged hair and extremely hair had uneven edge and damages throughout along with the dissolution of scale which the border of epidermal gap is unclear. Hair after a perm treatment caused cortical exposures due to extensive loss of scale during the treatment and even bubble effect. Protein perm, regular perm, soft perm, and direct heating perm, in that order, had the most damages to the hair.
The railway design trends has been developed by the change of the society and culture through the consideration of the history of railway. The railway design trends is as the vehicles in the external form of railways, instantly means to plan and create the value added something like the form of the exterior design. The railway design has been changing form instinctive methods to settle the mass transport of the early days, to sensitive methods to pursue the railway culture centering around human being. As dividing by the style's change of railway in image scale aspects between 1800's and 2005 according to the life environment into the external nation, there are big differences so that is to study the development history of the railway design accordingly each nation (United Kingdom, Germany, France, Japan) and the style's change, to confirm into the design applied in society and culture needs, and to analyze by a year in changes of the environment and the railway design history. This paper analyzed railway introduced as railway models by top 4 nation (United Kingdom, Germany, France, Japan) in the past years(1800-2005) for their railway design trends by image scale positioning.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of blood flow restriction bridge exercise on leg muscle thickness and balance. In addition, it is to promote blood flow restriction exercise as the basis for early prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of sarcopenia in clinical practice. Methods: Twenty elderly women aged 65 years or older were selected to participate in this study. The subjects were divided into two groups of 10: one with blood flow restriction with bridge exercise (BFRG) and the other with bridge exercise alone (BG). As for the exercise method, the thickness of rectus femoris and vastus medialis and Berg balance scale were investigated by intervention for 30 minutes a day, 3 times a week, for a total of 6 weeks. Results: There was significant difference in the thickness of the rectus femoris and vastus medial and within-group changes in the Berg balance scale (p <0.05) before and after the experiment in the BFRG and BG groups (p<0.05). There was a significant difference in change between the two groups (p <0.05). Conclusion: There was a significant difference in the intragroup change of the Berg balance scale in the BFRG before and after the experiment, but there was no significant difference in the BG, and there was no significant difference in the change between the two groups.
