The purpose of this study is to identify the effect of perceptions of somatotype on the satisfaction of somatotype and the clothing behavior. The respondents included 201 female student volunteers, aged 19 to 27, who were enrolled at university in Busan. The questionnaire was composed of three sections; perceived somatotype-self, satisfaction of somatotype and clothing behavior. Data were analyzed by frequency, factor analysis, and regression analysis. This study established the factors(the lower half the body, the upper half of the body, height, body-shape)as the perception of somatotype. In the clothing behavior, this study drew the 3 factor(aesthetics, fit, utility). The result of regression analysis reveals that the perceptions of somatotype-self are major determinant to influence on the satisfaction of somatotype. But the perceptions of somatotype-self are major determinant to influence on the aesthetic factor among three factors.
The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the actual somatotype and perceptual somatotype, and to compare actual somaotype with ideal somatotype, and to explore segmentation based on perception of slim/obese somatotype. Based on the finding, three distinct groups were formed: slim tendency group, moderators tendency group, obese tendency group. There were a significant among slim tendency group, moderators tendency group, and obese tendency group base on the perceptual somatotype. There were significant differences among the three groups in terms of perception of somatotype and satisfaction of somatotype.

For this study, questionnaires were administered to 192 American women in Louisiana State areas. Employing a sample of 127 data were analyzed by using F-test. The results were as follows: In the satisfaction with the somatotype variation of American women, height items were increased and width items were decreased with aging. At neck, bust, waist, hip and sleeve circumferences, in the satisfaction with the fit of ready-to-wear, were decreased with aging, Correlation for somatotype variation & satisfaction with the fit of ready-to-wear was significantly positive. With aging, the satisfaction with the somatotype & fit of American women's ready-to-wear for sizing system was generally decreased.

For this study, questionnaires were administered to 320 farm elderly women in Andong, Eusung and Kunwe areas. Employing a sample of 258 data were analyzed by using F-test. The results were as follows: In somatotype variation of farm elderly women, height decreased and width increased with aging. At neck, bust, waist, hip and sleeve circumferences, satisfaction with the fit of ready-to-wear decreased with aging. Correlation for somatotype variation & satisfaction with the fit of ready-to-wear was significantly positive.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the somatotype variation & satisfaction with the fit of ready-to-wear for overweight women. For this study, questionnaires were administered to 154 overweight women in Andong & Daegu areas. Employing a sample of 116 data were analyzed by using F-test. And 10 overweight women's brands were analyzed for sizing system of women's ready-to-wear. The results were as follows: In the satisfaction with the somatotype variation of overweight women, length items increased and girth items decreased with aging. At neck, bust, waist, hip and sleeve circumferences, satisfaction with the fit of ready-to-wear decreased with aging. Correlation for somatotype variation & satisfaction with the fit of ready-to-wear was significantly positive. And main sizing system of overweight women' s ready-to-wear brands was size 99 & 105 cm(bust)-90 cm (waist)-110 cm(hip), and its sizing intervals was almost existed in range of 5 cm-7 cm. There were various sizing systems in overweight women's ready-to-wear brands, and it raised a problem of consumer's dissatisfaction.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the difference in self-esteem, body satisfaction, body image and clothing attitude according to gender and somatotype. Also the paths for the clothing attitude affected by these variables were analyzed. The data for this research were collected from questionnaires of 210 male and 180 female college students. Body image is categorized as three factors, 'interest in appearance', 'concern about weight', and 'satisfaction in appearance'. And clothing attitude is categorized as five factors, 'fashionability', 'status symbolism', 'modesty', 'conformity', and 'manageability'. Male students were more satisfied with their body satisfaction than female students. Female students showed higher interest in appearance and concern about weight than male students. Thin somatotype showed high self-esteem interest in appearance, and fashionability. Fashionability was indirectly affected by gender, somatotype, self-esteem and body satisfaction, and was directly affected in the cases of high interest and satisfaction in appearance. Status symbolism was significantly affected in the cases of female students and high interest in appearance. Modesty was significantly affected in the cases of female students and low satisfaction in appearance. Conformity was significantly affected in the cases of high interest in appearance. Manageability was indirectly affected by gender, somatotype and self-esteem, and was directly affected in the cases of low interest in appearance.
This research analyzes how female college students' perception of somatotype-self and their satisfactions with their somatotype-self affect their appearance-management behaviors. The result is as follows: 1)An analysis of subjects' physical characteristics revealed that the average figures of their body sizes were within the normal boundaries. The average Quetelet Index of the subjects, which determines obesity of adults, was slightly below the nationwide physical standard of Korea. 2)The subjects' satisfaction with their each body part shows that the women were unsatisfied with every body-part measurement; height, bust size, waist size, hips size and particularly weight. 3)While most of the respondents recognized that sizes of their body parts were average, they were not happy with their body sizes. 4)Three factors were recognized from the study of appearance-management behaviors of the subjects; we defined them as 'Appearance Management', 'Weight Management', and 'Satisfaction with one's Appearance.' The study showed that the fatter, the more a subject controlled her weight. 5)A correlation study between one's perception of her body and her appearance-management behavior found that the more obese a subject was, the harder the subject was controlling her weight.
The purpose of this study is to examine differences between real somatotypes and cog-nitive somatotypes by considering the degree of satisfaction of body parts. The subjects were 250 middle-aged women from 40-54. Data was collected through anthropometry and surveys. Data was analyzed by correlation analysis anova duncan multiple range test factor analysis regression analysis crosstabulation analysis. The results were as follows: 1. Therefore trunk girth has more influence on body satisfaction than height and limbs. So the obession of trunk girth is the most important factor in body satisfaction. 6. Most middle-aged women although not judged to be obese by measurements believed themselves to be obese.
This research is to find out what type of young women's body and how young women perceived their body. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationships between body mass index (BMI), satisfaction of perceived somatotype, and eating disorder of 133 female college students from Gyeong-gi province. The average weight is $55.3{\pm}8.8kg$, and the BMI is categorized into three groups: underweight, normal weight, and overweight. In terms of the satisfaction for perceived somatotype, 58.6% of the total respondents replied "unsatisfied," which consists of 14% of the underweight group, 37.6% of the normal weight group, and 6.8% of the overweight group. This reveals that the negative association between the satisfaction levels of perceived somatotype and BMI in the normal weight group is statistically significant (p<0.001). Among three eating disorder scores, the first factor, the drive for thinness, shows significant difference (p<0.005) among groups with 2.82 points in the underweight group, 3.38 points in the normal weight group, and 3.86 points in the overweight group; such result shows that there is a drive for being skinny even within the underweight group. Second, the satisfaction levels of perceived somatotype type shows significant dissatisfaction among all groups with 3.41 points in the underweight group, 4.15 points in the normal weight group and 4.73 points in the overweight group. Third, the bulimia degree reveals a significant difference within each group, 2.15 points in the underweight group, 2.33 points in the normal weight group, and 2.78 points in the overweight group. Overall, more than half of the female college students are dissatisfied with their body shapes despite the fact that they are under or within the normal weight. In addition, the drive for being skinny and dissatisfaction levels of perceived somatotypes appear to be significantly higher with higher BMI levels.
