개인 휴대형 방송 서비스를 위한 지상파/위성 통합 DMB 수신기 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implement of Terrestrial & Satellite integrated DMB receiver for Personalized Broadcasting Services)

  • The Digital Multimedia Broadcasting(DMB) system is developed to offer high quality audio-visual multimedia contents to the uses by the various portable terminals in the mobile environment. Integrated complex reception platform is required to receive multimedia broadcasting services transmitted from various transmission media. In this paper, we present the design and implementation technic for providing the both of terrestrial and satellite DMB services simultaneously using the same hardware platform. The implemented complex receiving terminal to accommodate these DMB services simultaneously need composed of it RF module. it baseband module, it complex control module and the complex de-multiplexer module. The complex control module is designed using uClinux operating system. The complex de-multiplexer, which perform the functions of the address decoder and each DMB stream de-multiplexer, is implemented. with FPGA device. The implemented platform is tested in a real environment and its performance is satisfied with required performance criteria.

  • 2005년 DVB-S2 규격이 최종 마무리 되었지만 이미 보급된 기존의 수많은 DVB-S 수신기는 새로이 완전한 DVB-S2 수신기로 교체되기까지는 여전히 DVB-S 신호는 수신되어야 한다. 이를 위해서 방송사업자는 기존의 DVB-S 수신기에는 DVB-S 신호를, DVB-S2 수신기에는 DVB-S2 신호를 전송해야 한다. DVB-S2 수신기에서 DVB-S서비스를 수용하기 위해서는 DVB-S2 chip에 DVB-S 모듈이 구현되어야 한다. 이런 역호환성을 위해서 시스템에서는 계층적 변조 방식을 적용해야 하며, 시스템 마진을 만족하기 위해 본 논문에서는 편향각에 따른 시스템의 성능을 분석하였으며 또한 성능을 검증해 보았다. 그리고 본 방식을 검증하기 위해서 FPGA chip을 이용하여 테스트베드를 구현하였으며 이를 보인다.

Measurement of Carrier-to-Noise due to Sun Interference Effect on C-band for THAICOM 2 Down-link Station at Mung, Khon-kaen

  • This paper studies on Sun interference effects or Sun outage effects on C-band satellite reception signal for THAICOM2. The THAICOM2 satellite is at 78.5 degree East 〔co-located with THAICOM3〕. The down link station was located in Khon-kaen, longitude 102.83 degree East and latitude 16.43 degree North. The antenna diameter is 4.6 meters for C-band downlink station. Total 9 times of sun interference events were occurred during summer and fall of 2001 and these about 53 minutes altogether. The Maximum CM degradation of the THAICOM2 system was around 11 dB. The Sun interference events of 53 minutes of one year are 0.0122 percents of the C-band contact time when 21 hours of contact time is used f3r broadcasting a day.

  • 최근 GPS(Global Positioning System) 기술들을 활용하여 정확도를 향상시키기 위한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 그러나 위성신호를 수신 받을 때 문제가 발생할 경우 정확도가 현저히 떨어지는 문제점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 정확도 향상을 위해 GPS 기술과 지정된 위치에 대한 정보를 제공하는 GIS(Geographic Information System) 기술을 융합하는 시스템을 설계한다. 지정된 위치 정보와 사용자의 위치 정보를 비교하여 해당 위치에 대한 사용자의 진입여부를 판별한다. 이에 따라 GIS 기술을 활용하여 지정된 위치 정보를 사용자가 제공받으면 위성신호 수신에 방해가 있는 경우에도 위치 정보의 정확도가 향상될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

저고도각 고이득 특성을 이용한 3 소자 CRPA 배열 안테나 설계 (Design of Three-elements CRPA Arrays Using Improved Low-elevation Gain)

  • 본 논문에서는 저고도각 고이득 특성을 이용한 3 소자 CRPA 배열 안테나 설계를 제안하였다. 제안된 안테나는 급전패치와 방사패치로 구성되어 있으며, 급전패치에 동축케이블을 통해 급전부가 직접 연결되고 방사패치에 전자기적으로 간접급전되어 저고도각 이득 특성이 개선되는 구조를 가진다. 제안된 배열안테나의 성능 측정을 전파무반사실에서 수행하였으며, 전면 방향 이득은 2.8 dBic, 축비 특성은 2.7 dB, $75^{\circ}$의 저고도각 평균 이득이 -1.4 dBic를 나타내어 항재밍 성능을 갖는 CRPA 안테나로 적합함을 확인하였다.

  • The navigation message is composed of the information contained in the message and the structure for transmitting this information. In order to design a navigation message, considerations in terms of message content and message structure must be elicited. For designing a Korea Positioning System (KPS) navigation message, this paper explains performance indicators in terms of message structure and message content. Most of the performance analysis of GNSS navigation messages already in operation was performed only for Time-to-first-fix-Data (TTFFD). However, in the navigation message, the message content is composed of Clock-Ephemeris Data (CED) and additional information. So, this paper proposes a new performance indicator R_(Non-CED) that can be analyzed from the viewpoint of receiving additional information along with an explanation of TTFFD focusing on the CED reception time. This paper analyze the performance in terms of message structure using these two performance indicators. The message structures used for analysis are the packetized message protocol like GPS CNAV and the packetized and fixed pattern message protocol like GPS CNAV-2. From the results, it is possible to proffer how KPS navigation messages can have better performance than GPS navigation messages. And, these two performance indicators, TTFFD and RNon-CED, can help to design the minimum TTFF required performance of KPS navigation messages.

MF-TDMA DAMA 위성통신 시스템에서의 자원할당정보 정렬 알고리즘 가변 선택기법 연구 (Resource Allocation Information Sorting Algorithm Variable Selection Scheme for MF-TDMA DAMA Satellite Communication System)

  • 현대 사회에서는 기술의 고도화와 인간의 생활 영역이 확대됨에 따라 시간과 장소의 제약 없이 고품질 음성, 영상 등의 통신 서비스를 제공 받고자하는 요구가 증가하고 있다. 이러한 요구에 대응하여 지역적인 거리에 영향을 받지 않고 광범위한 통신 반경을 제공하고 다중접근이 가능한 위성 통신 시스템이 나날이 발전하고 있으며 DVB-RCS, WIN-T 등의 위성 통신 체계에서는 효율적인 자원 할당을 위해 복수의 주파수 대역에서 시간을 분할하여 할당하는 기법인 MF-TDMA DAMA 다중접속 방식을 사용하고 있다. 이 방식의 경우, 망제어기에 위성 단말들이 주기적으로 자원을 요청하고 이에 따라 망제어기는 동적으로 자원을 할당하게 되므로 수시로 자원할당 정보의 정렬이 필요하다. 이런 정렬 시간의 단축은 원거리 송수신에 의해 긴 전송지연 시간이 발생하는 위성 통신 시스템에서는 더욱더 중요한 요소로 작용한다. 본 논문은 MF-TDMA DAMA 위성통신 시스템에서 자원할당 정보 정렬 시 최대 프레임 개수를 임계값으로 두고 임계값을 기준으로 정렬 알고리즘을 교차 선택하여 정렬 시간을 단축하는 정렬 알고리즘 가변 선택 기법을 제안한다.

혁신채택 및 확산이론의 통신방송융합(위성DMB) 서비스 수요추정 응용 (Applications of Innovation Adoption and Diffusion Theory to Demand Estimation for Communications and Media Converging (DMB) Services)

  • This study examines market acceptance for DMB service, one of the touted new business models in Korea's next-generation mobile communications service market, using adoption end diffusion of innovation as the theoretical framework. Market acceptance for DMB service was assessed by predicting the demand for the service using the Bass model, and the demand variability over time was then analyzed by integrating the innovation adoption model proposed by Rogers (2003). In our estimation of the Bass model, we derived the coefficient of innovation and coefficient of imitation, using actual diffusion data from the mobile telephone service market. The maximum number of subscribers was estimated based on the result of a survey on satellite DMB service. Furthermore, to test the difference in diffusion pattern between mobile phone service and satellite DMB service, we reorganized the demand data along the diffusion timeline according to Rogers' innovation adoption model, using the responses by survey subjects concerning their respective projected time of adoption. The comparison of the two demand prediction models revealed that diffusion for both took place forming a classical S-curve. Concerning variability in demand for DMB service, our findings, much in agreement with Rogers' view, indicated that demand was highly variable over time and depending on the adopter group. In distinguishing adopters into different groups by time of adoption of innovation, we found that income and lifestyle (opinion leadership, novelty seeking tendency and independent decision-making) were variables with measurable impact. Among the managerial variables, price of reception device, contents type, subscription fees were the variables resulting in statistically significant differences. This study, as an attempt to measure the market acceptance for satellite DMB service, a leading next-generation mobile communications service product, stands out from related studies in that it estimates the nature and level of acceptance for specific customer categories, using theories of innovation adoption and diffusion and based on the result of a survey conducted through one-to-one interviews. The authors of this paper believe that the theoretical framework elaborated in this study and its findings can be fruitfully reused in future attempts to predict demand for new mobile communications service products.

Single-axis Hardware in the Loop Experiment Verification of ADCS for Low Earth Orbit Cube-Satellite

  • A 2U cube satellite called SNUGLITE has been developed by GNSS Research Laboratory in Seoul National University. Its main mission is to perform actual operation by mounting dual-frequency global positioning system (GPS) receivers. Its scientific mission aims to observe space environments and collect data. It is essential for a cube satellite to control an Earth-oriented attitude for reliable and successful data transmission and reception. To this end, an attitude estimation and control algorithm, Attitude Determination and Control System (ADCS), has been implemented in the on-board computer (OBC) processor in real time. In this paper, the Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) was employed as the attitude estimation algorithm. For the attitude control technique, the Linear Quadratic Gaussian (LQG) was utilized. The algorithm was verified through the processor in the loop simulation (PILS) procedure. To validate the ADCS algorithm in the ground, the experimental verification via a single axis Hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HILS) was used due to the simplicity and cost effectiveness, rather than using the 3-axis HILS verification (Schwartz et al. 2003) with complex air-bearing mechanism design and high cost.

  • ARGO-M is a satellite laser ranging (SLR) system developed by the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute with the consideration of mobility and daytime and nighttime satellite observation. The ARGO-M optical system consists of 40 cm receiving telescope, 10 cm transmitting telescope, and detecting optics. For the development of ARGO-M optical system, the structural analysis was performed with regard to the optics and optomechanics design and the optical components. To ensure the optical performance, the quality was tested at the level of parts using the laser interferometer and ultra-high-precision measuring instruments. The assembly and alignment of ARGO-M optical system were conducted at an auto-collimation facility. As the transmission and reception are separated in the ARGO-M optical system, the pointing alignment between the transmitting telescope and receiving telescope is critical for precise target pointing. Thus, the alignment using the ground target and the radiant point observation of transmitting laser beam was carried out, and the lines of sight for the two telescopes were aligned within the required pointing precision. This paper describes the design, structural analysis, manufacture and assembly of parts, and entire process related with the alignment for the ARGO-M optical system.
