1. Objectives: This study was performed to research the relationship between Sasang Constitutional medicine and Hyungsang medicine. 2. Methods: Four hundred and thirty applicants are involved in this study. They are devided into Sasang Constitution and Hyungsang Classification 3. Results and Conclusions: There are significances between Sasang Constitutional diagnosis and Hyungsang Classification. There are significantly more Bangkwang-body, Gi-kwa, Taeyang-hyung, Yangmyung-hyung in Taeyangin and Bangkwang-body, Jung-kwa, Soyang-hyung, Yangmyung-hyung in Soyangin. There are significantly more Dam-body, Gi-kwa, Taeyang-hyung, Yangmyung-hyung in Taeeumin and Bangkwang-body, Gi-kwa, Taeyang-hyung, Yangmyung-hyung in Soeumin.

Objective We report a case about a Soyangin patient with diabetic neuropathy. His symptoms were alleviated with Sasang Constitutional medicine. Methods A Soyangin patient with diabetic neuropathy was treated by herbal medicine, acupuncture, pharmacopuncture according to Sasang Constitutional Medicine. The progress was evaluated with numerical rating scale(NRS) and blood sugar test(BST). Results Sasang Constitutional Medicine seems to be effective for the symtoms of the patient with diabetic neuropathy in this case. Conclusions This case study shows that Sasang Constitutional Medicine may be an effective treatment for Soyangin's diabetic neuropathy.

1. Objectives: The purpose of this study was done to compare Sasang Constitution diagnostic rate between taking Sasang Constitution herb medicine patients and non taking group. 2. Methods: We collected data from 430 patients who were visited at the Department of Sasang Constitution, College of Oriental Medicine, Dong-eui University from November 2006 to September 2010. We classified them into two group. One was taking Sasang Constitution herb medicine patients group, the other was non taking group. For Sasang Constitution Diagnosis, they all have done SSCQ-P questionnaire. and a Sasang Constitution specialist diagnosed constitution. According to reactions after taking herb medicine, the patients of taking group were confirmed their constitutions. We checked Sasang Constitution diagnostic rate from each groups'(the whole subjects, taking herb medicine patients group, non taking herb medicine patients group) discriminant function. And to find out Sasang Constitution diagnostic rate, we applied discriminant functions to each other. 3. Results and Conclusions: 1) The whole subjects' diagnostic accuracy rate was 72.07%. 2) Taking herb medicine group's diagnostic accuracy Rate was 75.08%. Non taking herb medicine group's diagnostic accuracy rate applied taking group's discriminant function was 61.60%. 3) Non taking herb medicine group's diagnostic accuracy rate was 81.06%. Taking herb medicine group's diagnostic accuracy rate applied taking group's discriminant function was 57.14%.

1. Objectives Chronic pyelonephritis is one of the obstinate disease in current medicine. chronic pyelonephritis can be healed through cooperative treatment of western medicine and Sasang constitutional medicine. 2. Methods This patient who was not treated by western medicine alone was healed when Sasang constitutional medicine was prescripted with modern western medicine 3. Results We can get significal changes in lab results when western medicine and clinical Sasang constitutional medicine was practiced together. 4. Conclusions We suggest that cooperation with western and Sasang constitutional medicine is much effective in treating chronic pyelonephritis and other obstinate diseases.

Purpose This study is intended to catch the expansion of theory of Sasang Constitutional Medicine through comparison prescription of Sasang-Yihak-Chobonguen with prescription of Dongyi-Soose-Bowon Method I studied the archive of prescription and medicines concerned in the Sasang-Yihak- Chobonguen with Dongyi-Soose-Bowon Result and conclusion 1. The base of theory on prescription of Sasang-Yihak-Chobonguen is based on Naesang -oigam theory but the base of theory on prescription of Dongyi-Soose-Bowon is based on Pyoribyung theory of Sasang constitutional Medicine. 2. Medicines are confused in prescription of Sasang-Yihak-Chobonguen but medicines are not confused in prescription.

Objectives : This study proposes developing Sasang Medical Diagnosis Program using Facial form for increase in Sasang Constitution Diagnosis objectivity and putting the Diagnosis Program into practical use. The author presents a review of extant research on Sasang constitution diagnosis utilizing facial feature analysis and suggests an agenda for further research. Methods : For this thesis, a collection of dissertations on the subject of 'Usage of facial form for constitution diagnosis' published until September of 2012 such as RISS4U, OASIS, KISTI, Korean TK were reviewed. The final 33 dissertations were classified into two categories, basic or clinical research and then analyzed. Results : 9 out of 33 dissertations were of basic research and 24 were of clinical research. 1) As result of review of references, a uniform tendency was found in facial form according to Sasang Constitution. 2) In the grade of practical use, facial element is repeatedly used and the facial element of important use has constitutional differences. 3) Standard faces per Sasang Constitution were derived as result of 2-dimensional research. 4) 3-dimensional research focused on improvement of accuracy and reliability of 3D-AFRA, and there has been an attempt to develop a prototype for identification. Conclusions : For practical use of facial feature in Sasang Constitution Diagnosis, 1) Standardization of diagnosis through establishing Sasang Medical Diagnosis clinical protocol must be preceded. After the standardization, practical purpose and direction of facial form in general may be decided. 2) Information on high quality facial form of constitutional and conditional patients must be collected to form extensive database. 3) Subdivided symptomatology, as well as Sasang Constitution must be considered for diagnosis in order for diagnosis technique to acquire clinical practicality.

Objective The purpose of this study is to reveal the universal truthfulness of Sasang Constitutional Medicine from the perspective of the perennial philosophy and the integral psychology. Methods Aldous Huxley's The perennial philosophy and Ken Wilber's Literature of integral psychology such as A Brief History of Everything was compared with "Gyukchigo(格致藁)" and "Donguisusebowon(東醫壽世保元)". Also investigated the literature of various countries related to constitution(temperament). Results and Conclusions 1. Historically, there are various constitutional theories, but the constitution that best corresponds to the constitution in the perennial philosophy of Aldous Huxley is Sasang Constitutional Medicine. 2. The Sasang theory(四象說) and Four element structure(四元構造) of Sasang Constitutional Medicine was confirmed to be the same as AQAL(all quadrants & all levels) of Ken Wilber. 3. The Sasang theory(Four element structure) of Sasang Constitutional Medicine was presented ahead of Ken Wilber's AQAL(all quadrants & all levels), therefore, Sasang Constitutional Medicine has universal truthfulness.

Objectives The aim of study was to suggest diagnostic indicator according to Exterior-Interior disease for the Sasang Constitution based on original symptom. Methods We investigated the literature(『Dongeuisusebowon sinchukbon』) and another study(Clinical Practice Guideline for Disease of Sasang Constitutional Medicine: Diagnosis and Algorithm). As a result, we developed diagnostic indicator of original symptom for Exterior-Interior disease in Sasang Constitutional Medicine. Results and Conclusions Diagnosis of Exterior-Interior disease in Sasang Constitution was decided by heat and cold of original symptom. Detailed indicators of diagnosis in Exterior-Interior disease were heat/cold sensitivity, the degree of sweating, the amount of drinking water, thirst, face color and somatalgia.

Neiging Medicine(內經醫學) based on Yin-Yang and Five elements was the main stream of Korea Traditional Medicine until the end of 19th century. And the establishment of Sasang Constitutional medicine. In this paper, author proved that the Yin-Yang of Sasang Constitutional Medicine was different from that of Neiging Medicine and that explained the Yin-Yang of Sasang Constitutional Medicine as our own medicine. After considering the philosophical and medical background of Sasang Constitutional Medicine, and author researched the Yin-Yang of ontology, structure, function, symptoms in Sasang Constitutional Medicine. Also we compared this with that of Neiging medicine. The results were as follows 1. Neiging Medicine was based on the Yin-Yang and Five elements centering on the nature and Sasang joy, and pleasure centering on the human. 2. The ontology of Sasang Constitutional Medicine were the mind as a unitary substance, the mind and body as a dual substance, and affair, mind, body, and objects as a four substance which were the basic theory of philosophy. 3. Sasang Constitutional Medicine explained social phenomenon with a four substancial structure consisted of affairs, mind, body, and objects, a complex four substancial structure consisted of heaves, human, nature and order, and a three dimension structure including time. 4. On the other hand Neiging Medicine recognized seven emotions as five emotions, Sasang Constitutional Medicine recognized seven emotions as qi, nature, and emotions which consisted of sorrow, anger, joy, and pleasure. The qi had an effect on internal and external part of body and the nature and the emotion had an effect on the upward and downward of body. 5. It was taked great importance to control the up and down balance and the internal and external balance in Sasang Constitutional Medicine instead of reinforcing and reducting method of Neiging Medicine. 6. The Yin-Yang of Korean Traditional Medicine developed centering on the human from centering on the nature and Sasang Constitutional Medicine was a practical medicine compared with Neiging Medicine.

Objectives The aim of this study was to review the current Sasang Constitutions studies on children and adolescents and to provide basic data for developing in a better direction of research. Methods Research articles on children and adolescents of the Sasang Constitutions studies were extracted from six databases. Published year, published journals, types of studies were classified. Subjects of research and clinical methods for the Sasang type classification were summarized, especially in clinical studies. Results A total of 26 selected research articles were published from 1990 to 2013 and 14 articles (54%) have been published in Journal of Sasang Constitutional Medicine and Journal of Pediatrics of Korean Medicine. 96% of the total researches were based on clinical studies. Psychological and physical characteristics by Sasang Constitutional type accounted for most of the clinical research studies subjects. But these studies were not performed with diagnostic tools only for children and adolescents. Discussion In this study, the necessity of developing methods of Sasang constitutional type classification for children and adolescents was confirmed. If accompanied by additional research based on this study, it is expected to be used in diverse fields with active collaboration or education.
