  • Purpose The goal of this study tried to provide aging and life span in Sasang Constitutional Medicine. Methods It was researched Master Dong-Mu's documentary records about aging and the life span represented by ${\ulcorner}$Dongyi Soose Bowon Sasang Chobongyun${\lrcorner}$ and ${\ulcorner}$Dongyi Soose Bowon${\lrcorner}$ published in 1901. Results & conclusion 1. A principal of regimen according to Sasang Constitutional Medicine isn't medicational method but non-medicational method. There are control mind and upright oneself. 2. Dong-Mu's the views of the span of life represented by 'Inherent vitality' that a term means health promoting and forecasting length of the life. He also emphasizied a natural power of recovery from damaged vitality. 3. Greed is reduced one's lifetime. It is originated by bias for 'joy-anger -sorrow-pleasure'. The other example is 'Liquor-Sex-Property- Authority'. 4. The way of prolonging lifetime what managed small visceral intestines through constitutional upright oneself. This is found on pathology, care of health and constitutional 'Knowledge and Deed'.

6 Case Reports on Parkinson's Disease Patients Treated by Sasang Constitutional Medicine: Focused on Stance and Gait Analysis (사상의학적(四象醫學的)으로 접근한 파킨슨 증후군 환자 치험 6례 : 균형 및 보행분석을 중심으로)

  • Objectives Gait disorders are incapacitating symptoms of Parkinson's disease(PD). Here, we report improvements of patients diagnosed with PD treated by Sasang Constitutional Medicine, focused on gait and balance analysis. Methods The patients diagnosed with PD were treated on the basis of Sasang Constitutional Medicine, and their stance and gait status were analyzed by zebris Medical GmbH. To evaluate other general symptoms related with PD, GAS scale, NRS scale, H&Y scale and UPDRS were used. Results Stride length, velocity, stance phase, lateral symmetry were improved in all 6 patients. Other symptoms related to Parkinson's disease were reduced, along with the improvements in GAS scale, NRS scale, H&Y scale and UPDRS score. Conclusion This case study showed Sasang Constitutional Medicine is effective in various symptoms of Parkinson's disease. Especially in regard to the stance and gait status, the improvements were assessed accurately with Gait analysis.

A Case Series of Dojeokganggi-tang for Hot flush in Soyangin Cold Pattern Patients (상열감을 호소하는 소양인의 도적강기탕 치험 3례)

  • Introduction This case series report an attempt to treat Sasang constitutional medicine on Soyangin patients with unspecified hot flush. Methods The patients in this case were diagnosed as Soyangin cold pattern and treated with herb medicine Dojeokgangi-tang. Treatment outcome was monitored retrospectively. Results Persistent hot flush significantly improved to normal levels in all 3 Soyangin patients, and 2 out of 3 showed the effect within 4 weeks, those with more chronic symptoms required more time. Discussion This study suggests the significance of Sasang constitutional medicine treatment in Soyangin patients with Hot flush. Additionally, the characteristics of patients with hot flush presented in this study were verified as meaningful diagnostics indicator of Soyangin lesser yang wind damage. Furthermore, it emphasizes the value of original symptoms as a standard for evaluating treatment effectiveness.

  • Objectives This study was designed to report diagnosis and treatment by Sasang Constitutional Medicine to the patients with Oro-facial Dyskinesia. Methods These two patients were diagnosed as Soyangin and Taeeumin according to the result of Sasang constitutional diagnosis, and treated by Sasang constitutional medications and acupuncture. The progress was evaluated with the Global Assessment Scale (GAS). Result Oro-facial Dyskinesia was almost disappeared in each patients. the one patient was cured with Chongshimyeonja-tang and Yuldahanso-tang, and the other was cured with Hyeungbangjihwang-tang. Conclusion We can treat Oro-facial Dyskinesia whose cause is mostly idiopathic with the diagnosis and treatment of Sasang Constitutional Medicine.

  • Revised QSCCII is made depend on revised soeum scale, revised taeum scale and revised soyang scale, and used in KyungHee University Medical Center. The purpose of this study is to examine validity of revised QSCCII and to analyse the tendency of respondents of revised QSCCII. For this study, the objects are 57 patients who response to QSCCII and revised QSCCII in Oriental Medicine & Western Medicine Cooperative Health Examination Center KyungHee University Medical Center. a systematic analysis has been made. As a results, we have found that revised QSCCII have a validity. there is agreement of Tendency of the respondent of QSCCII with revised QSCCII. we hope that suitable questionnaire will be developed for the research in the future.

  • This study was performed to reveal some contrasting aspects between Sasang Constitutional Medicine(四象醫學) and Traditional Oriental Medicine(傳統 韓醫學). This aims ultimately for the unified standardization of Korea-Oriental Medicine. Suggesting the clear contrasting aspects of thse two medical system, this study might give several basic informations for ultimate achievement. As a result, some contrasting aspects were revealed as follows. 1. The interpretation of the man's status is contrasted. In Sasang Constitutional Medicine, man is interpreted as the member of the Society(天下) while in Traditional Oriental Medicine as the part of the Nature(天地). 2. The man's modeling is contrasted. In Sasang Constitutional Medicine, man is in the process of becoming as differentiating itself by the inner emotional producing. While in Traditional Oriental Medicine, man is generalized as one model according to the Nature, one great universe(天地). 3. The pathogenesis is contrasted. In Sasang Constitutional Medicine, emotional inclination is the main factor provoking the primary pathogenesis. While in Traditional Oriental Medicine the external isolated pathogenic factors such as Cold, Heat, Warm etc. are significant for the pathogenesis. 4. The evaluation of the disease is contrasted. In Sasang Constitutional Medicine all the diseases are evaluated according to the inherent condition of patient himself. But in Traditional Oriental Medicine the evaluation of disease isolated from the inheret condition of patient himself is generalized in its own system. 5. The prime method of healing, controlling, and maintaining health of the patient is contrasted. For these, the patient's spontaneous effort for adjusting his emotional inclination is important in Sasang Constitutional Medicine. While in Traditional Oriental Medicine, the external adjustment dependent on the herbal medication is the main method for healing, controlling, and maintaining health of the patient.
