  • Estimating the effects of price increase on a company's sales is important task faced by managers. If consumer has prior information on price increase or expects it, there would be stockpiling and subsequent drops in sales. In addition, consumer can suppress demand in the short run. These factors make the sales dynamic and unstable. In this paper we develop a time series model to evaluate the sales patterns with stockpiling and short-term suppression of demand and also propose a forecasting procedure. For estimation, we use panel data and extend the model to Bayesian hierarchical structure. By borrowing strength across cross-sectional units, this estimation scheme gives more robust and reasonable result than one from the individual estimation. Furthermore, the proposed scheme yields improved predictive power in the forecasting of hold-out sample periods.

  • this study examined behavioral inhibition in relation to their mothers' value and attitudes toward children's inhibited behavior as a function of child sex. Data were collected via questionnaires from a sample of 483 7-to 8 year-olds and their mothers. Results showed that there were no significant differences in mother's value mothers' attitudes toward child behavior and child's behavioral inhibition according to child sex. However it was found that mothers' value was associated with attitudes toward child inhibition and behavioral inhibition in 7-to 8 year-olds girls. more specifically mothers who hold high traditional values were not concerned about girls' inhibited behavior and thus in turn had more inhibited girls. But the associations were not found for boys. the results indicated cultural effects on parenting attitudes as well as child inhibition.

  • Anisotropic behaviour in soils and soft rocks may be either fabric of stress related ultra in practice is invariably a combination of both. Theoretical studies in the paper include tile iMluence oil untrained strength of assuming both the critical state and Mo21r-Coulomb concepts to hold, and the influence of elastic anisotropy oil predicted undrained effective stress paths. The predictions stemming from these theoretical concepts are examined in the light of evidence from triaxial compression and extension tests oil laboratory prepared, compacted and natural clays and from triaxial compression tests on clay shales. The experimental studies also show the Buence of sample orientation on untrained snear strength, as wen as the iIBluence of anisotropy old the effective stress angle cishearing resistance and of stress patn on measured stiffness.

  • This paper presents an accelerated life test for burnout of tungsten filament of incandescent lamp. From failure analyses of field samples, it is shown that their root causes are local heating or hot sports in the filament caused by tungsten evaporation and wire sag. Finite element analysis is performed to evaluate the effect of vibration and impact for burnout, but any points of stress concentration or structural weakness are not found in the sample. To estimate the burnout life of lamp, an accelerated life test is planned by using quality function deployment and fractional factorial design, where voltage, vibration, and temperature are selected as accelerating variables. We assumed that Weibull lifetime distribution and a generalized linear model of life-stress relationship hold through goodness of fit test and test for common shape parameter of the distribution. Using accelerated life testing software, we estimated the common shape parameter of Weibull distribution, life-stress relationship, and accelerating factor.

  • In this study, a ubiquitous sensor for condition monitoring of insulators and lightning arresters installed in power distribution lines and electric traction vehicles is presented. The sensor consists of two parts; a leakage current measurement and a lightning surge detection. Measured data are transmitted to a supervisory computer through ZigBee protocol based on IEEE 802.15.4. To detect leakage current, a window type Mn-ZCT is used and a low-noise amplifier with a gain of 60dB is designed, and this can measure leakage current in ranges of $100{\mu}A{\sim}5mA$. A sample-hold(S/H) and a Rogowski coil are injected to analyze the magnitude of surge current in ranges from 500A to 10kA with $8/20{\mu}s$-waveform.

  • We propose a Readout Integrated Circuit (ROIC), which applies a fixed current bias sensing method to the input stage in order to simplify the circuit structure and the infrared sensor characteristic control. For the sample-and-hold stage to display and control a signal detected by the infrared sensor using a two-dimensional (2D) focal plane array, a differential delta sampling (DDS) circuit is proposed, which effectively removes the FPN. In addition, the output characteristic is improved to have wider bandwidth and higher gain by applying a two-stage variable gain amplifier (VGA). The output characteristic of the proposed device was 23.91 mV/$^{\circ}C$, and the linearity error rate was less than 0.22%. After checking the performance of the ROIC using HSPICE simulation, the chip was manufactured and measured using the SMIC 0.35 um standard CMOS process to confirm that the simulation results from the actual design are in good agreement with the measurement results.

  • In this paper, CMOS A/D converter with 10bit 32MSPS at 3.3V is designed for HPNA 2.0. In order to obtain the resolution of 10bit and the character of high-speed operation, we present multi-stage type architecture. That consist of sample and hold(S&H), 4bit flash ADC and 4bit Multiplier D/A Converter (MADC) also the Overflow and Underflow for timing error correct of Digital Correct ion Logic (DCL). The proposed ADC is based on 0.35um 3-poly 5-metal N-well CMOS technology. and it consumes 130mW at 3.3V power supply.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine understanding consumers' purchasing intention toward sustainable apparel regarding buying experience, majors, and age. A random sample of 172 undergraduate students completed a questionnaire that contained measures of demographic information, past sustainable buying experiences, and purchasing intentions toward sustainable apparel. Based on literature review, three research questions were proposed. For data analysis, descriptive statistics and t-test were used. Based on these results, this research provided acceptable information based upon the consumer's purchasing intentions toward sustainable apparel, after being placed into groups of buyers and non-buyers. Buyers had more willing to purchase sustainable apparel than non-buyers. Also the results revealed that fashion majors hold a higher level of significance than non-fashion majors and their intentions to purchase sustainable apparel. Finally, older students (over 21 years old) have more purchasing intentions toward sustainable apparel than younger students (under 21 years old). Based on these results, some implications for educators and marketers would be suggested.

  • We report the results of extensive mixed mode simulations and theoretical analysis to quantify the contribution of the edge direct tunneling (EDT) current on the total gate leakage current of 80nm NMOSFET with SiO2 gate dielectric. It is shown that EDT has a profound impact on basic analog circuit building blocks such as sample-hold (S/H) circuit and the current mirror circuit. A transistor design methodology with zero gate-source/drain overlap is proposed to mitigate the EDT effect. This results in lower voltage droop in S/H application and better current matching in current mirror application. It is demonstrated that decreasing the overlap length also improves the basic analog circuit performance metrics of the transistor. The transistor with zero gate-source/drain overlap, results in better transconductance, input resistance, output resistance, intrinsic gain and unity gain transition frequency.
