  • Digital imaging equipment is used for a variety of purposes in a wide range of fields in society and is becoming an important element of the 4th industrial revolution. Imaging equipment data is exposed to noise from various causes, and this noise affects accuracy of the equipment, causing errors and lowering reliability. In the present paper, an algorithm based on directional effective pixels is proposed to effectively remove high-density Salt and Pepper noise. Conventional methods show that performance decreases as Salt and Pepper noise density increases. To the contrary, the proposed method has noise-removal performance superior to those of conventional methods, by performing de-noising which considers directional effective pixels even in a high-density Salt and Pepper noise environment. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is superior to the existing methods, and performance is verified through enlarged images.

  • In response to the recent development of IT technologies, there are more demands for visual devices such as display. However, noise is generated in the process of sending video data due to various reasons. Noise is the representative noise which is commonly found. While A-TMF, CWMF, and AMF are the typical ways for removing Salt and Pepper noise, the noise is not removed well in high-density noise environment. To remove the noise in the high-density noise environment, this study suggested an algorithm which identifies whether it's noise or not. If it's not a noise, matches the original pixel. If it's a noise, divide the $3{\times}3$ local mask into the area of the element treated and the area of the element to be processed. Then, algorithm proposes to apply different weights for each element to treat it as an average filter. To analyze the performance of the algorithm, this study compared PSNR to compare the algorithm with other existing methods.

  • The image processing is recognized as an important field as Internet develops. The image is deteriorated in the process of obtaining, storage and transmission with various causes. Many studies have been carried out to restore the image by mainly removing the impact of salt and pepper noise added to the image. Thus, this paper proposed a modified median filter using pixel distribution in order to remove the impact of salt and pepper noise added to the image and compared it with the current methods using PSNR(peak signal to n oise ratio) as a criterion of judgment for objective judgment.

  • Noise occurs in the process of obtaining, transmission, and processing in image processing systems and these noises lower the resolution of image and cause visual errors. Currently, a representative filter to remove salt and pepper noise is SMF(standard median filter) but it is inadequate in preserving edge as the noise field expands. Therefore, for salt and pepper noise enviroment, the study suggested and algorithm that are places with original pixel when the central pixel is non-noise and process by applying weighted value on areas with less local mask pixel changes when there is noise.

  • With rapid progress in digital technology, demand for multi-media imaging devices is increasing. But noise occurs due to various reasons during the process of acquiring, transmitting or processing the image data. Filters used to remove salt and pepper noise include CWMF and AWMF. In areas where the noise density is high, the removal of noise is undermined. This paper suggests an algorithm that preserves the edge while removing noise using spatial weighted.

  • Recently, the image system is utilized in several fields due to the development of multimedia technology. However, the noise occurs according to various causes in the process of image data processing. The noises added to the image include several types according to the cause and shape, and the salt and pepper noise is one of the typical noise types. Thus, this paper proposed the median filter algorithm using the estimated mask in order to remove the salt and pepper noise effectively and also compared this algorithm with the current methods using PSNR(peak signal to noise ratio) as a criterion of judgment.

  • With the development of IoT technology, image processing is being utilized in various fields such as image analysis, image recognition, medical industry, and factory automation. Noise is generated in image data from causes such as defect in transmission line. Image noise must be removed because it damages the performance of the image processing application program. Salt and Pepper noise is a representative type of image noise, and various studies have been conducted to remove Salt and Pepper noise. Widely known methods include A-TMF, AFMF, and SDWF. However, as the noise density increases, the performance deteriorates. Thus, this paper proposes an algorithm that performs filtering using a fuzzy logic weight mask only in case of noise after noise determination. In order to prove the noise removal performance of the proposed algorithm, an experiment was performed on images with 10% to 90% noise added and the PSNR was compared.

  • Currently, image processing is being used in various fields such as image analysis, image recognition, and factory automation according to the development of IT technology. Salt and pepper noise is generated due to various external factors in the process of acquiring or transmitting an image, which deteriorates the image quality. Therefore, noise removal to improve image quality is essential. Various methods have been proposed to remove salt and pepper noise, and representative examples include AF, MF, and A-TMF. However, the conventional filter has insufficient noise removal performance in a high-density noise environment. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an algorithm for estimating and processing the original pixel by using the modified distance weight filter only in the case of noise, and replacing the original pixel in case of non-noise after performing noise judgment. To evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, we compare and analyze it with existing algorithms using PSNR.

  • Currently, the demand for image processing is increasing due to the development of IT technology, and active research is being conducted. Since image data generates image noise due to various external causes, and thus degrades the performance of the image, noise removal is essential. Salt and Pepper noise is a representative image noise, and various studies are being conducted to remove it. Existing algorithms include A-TMF, AFMF, LIWF, but these have the disadvantage that their performance is somewhat insufficient. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an algorithm that performs filtering using linear interpolation with effective pixels existing around the central pixel only in case of noise after performing noise judgment in order to efficiently remove salt and pepper noise. In order to judge the performance of the proposed algorithm, it was compared using the processed image of the previously studied algorithm and PSNR.

  • Salt and pepper is a type of impulse noise. It may appear due to an error in the image transmission process and image storage memory. This noise changes the pixel value at any position in the image to 0 (in case of pepper noise) or 255 (in case of salt noise). In this paper, we present an algorithm for SAP noise reduction. The proposed method consists of three steps. In the first step, the location of the SAP noise is detected, and in the second step, the pixel value of the detected location is restored using a weighted average of the surrounding pixel values. In the last step, a reliability matrix around the reconstructed pixels is constructed, and additional correction is performed with a weighted average using this. As a result of the experiment, the proposed method appears to have similar or higher objective and subjective image quality than previous methods for almost all SAP noise ratios.
