Oxovanadium(IV) complexes with salicylaldoxime, o-vanilline oxime, 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzaldoxime, 2-hydroxy-5-methoxybenzaldoxime and 2-hydroxy-5-nitrobenzaldoxime were synthesized. The complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, electric conductivity measurement, infrared spectrometry, electronic spectrometry, mass spectrometry, and thermal analysis. The results of elemental analysis were well coincided with the theoretical values. The values of molar conductance of the complexes in DMF implicated that the complexes were non-electrolyte. The characteristic stretching frequency of V=O appeared strong band in the range of $980{\pm}20\;cm^{-1}.$ All the complexes showed two d-d transition in visible spectra and two charge transfer transitions in ultraviolet spectra. Results of mass spectrometry of $VO(sal)_2\;and\;VO(van)_2$ indicated two peaks corresponding to vanadium containing ion(I) of 1 : 2(metal to ligand) chelate and a fragment ion(II) of 1 : 1 chelate due to loss of ligand radical from ion(I). The thermal analysis showed the endothermic peak due to the thermal decomposition.

Objective: This study investigated the effects of Bacillus subtilis CSL2 (B. subtilis CSL2) administration before Salmonella challenge on the fecal microbiota and microbial functionality of Hy-line Brown (HLB) laying hens. Methods: Fecal samples were collected from control (CON), Salmonella-infected (SAL) and Salmonella-infected, probiotic-treated (PRO) groups before and after Salmonella challenge for microbiome analysis using 16S rRNA gene pyrosequencing. Results: Infection with Salmonella led to decreased microbial diversity in hen feces; diversity was recovered with Bacillus administration. In addition, Salmonella infection triggered significant alterations in the composition of the fecal microbiota. The abundance of the phylum Firmicutes decreased while that of Proteobacteria, which includes a wide variety of pathogens, increased significantly. Bacillus administration resulted in normal levels of abundance of Firmicutes and Proteobacteria. Analysis of bacterial genera showed that Salmonella challenge decreased the population of Lactobacillus, the most abundant genus, and increased populations of Pseudomonas and Flavobacterium genera by a factor of 3 to 5. On the other hand, Bacillus administration caused the abundance of the Lactobacillus genus to recover to control levels and decreased the population of Pseudomonas significantly. Further analysis of operational taxonomic units revealed a high abundance of genes associated with two-component systems and secretion systems in the SAL group, whereas the PRO group had more genes associated with ribosomes. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that B. subtilis CSL2 administration can modulate the microbiota in HLB laying hens, potentially acting as a probiotic to protect against Salmonella Gallinarum infection.
Water extract of green tea(GTW) and 70% ethanol extract of green tea(GTE) were prepared for the test of antibacterial activity. The sensitivity of Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella typhimurium to the green tea extracts in various pH of culture broth was tested. Tryptic soy broth(TSB) containing 0∼2%(w/v) of green tea extracts was adjusted to pH 5.0∼7.0 and inoculated with 10$\^$5/∼10$\^$6/ cells/ml of each bacteria. The plate counting method and clear zone test were used to determine inhibitory effect of green tea extracts. Green tea extracts completely inhibited the growth of S. aureus at 0.5% level and bactercidal at 0.5∼1.0% level of GTW and GTE at pH 5.0∼7.0. Green tea extracts were bactercidal to S. typhimurium at 1.5∼2.0% level of GTW and 1.0∼2.0% level of GTE at pH 7.0. Sal. typhimurium was more resistant than S. aureus. in same concentration of green tea extracts at same pH. The resistance of S. aureus and Sal. typhimurium was increased with decreasing pH of culture broth. The morphology of S. aureus cells treated with green tea extracts showed damage of cell wall and cytoplasmic membrane. Severely damaged cells of S. aureus lost electron dense material and cytoplasm. Green tea extracts stimulated autolysis and cell death of S. aureus. This result suggests that green tea extracts can be used as an effective natural antibacterial agent in food.
This study was to evaluate the impact of river runoff and salt intrusion by tide on nutrient balance of estuary during a complete tidal cycle. 24 hours time series survey was carried out during a spring tide July 2001 on a tidal estuary in the Keum river. Three stations(A,B,C) were set along a transect line of about 10km, which linked the lower part of estuary dyke to the subtidal zone. Surface water was sampled simultaneously at each station every hours f3r the determination of nutrients. Water temperature, pH and dissolved oxygen were measured in situ. Riverine input of silicate and nitrate during ebb tide significantly increased the concentration of all stations. Conversely, during high tide, nutrient concentration were lowered by the mixing of fresh water with sea water Ammonium nitrogen concentration were higher at intertidal zone(Stn.B) due to sewage inflow to Kyeongpo stream and ammonium release under anaerobic conditions. Also, these results was discussed as a biological component that influences the processes of nutrient regeneration within the estuary. Best correlations were found at lower part of estuary dyke(Stn.A) for salinity against DIN(Y=0.121 Sal.+4.97, r2=0.956) and silicate(Y=0.040 Sal.+2.62, r2=0.785). But no significant correlation was found between salinity and ammonium. Unbalanced elemental ratio(N/P, Si/N and Si/P) depended significantly on the import of nutrients (silicate & nitrate nitrogen) from river and stream. The effect of the tidal cycle and river runoff is important that in determining the extend of the variations in nutrient concentrations at all station.

Transcription termination factor-1 (TTF-I) is an RNA polymerase 1-mediated transcription terminator and consisting of a C-terminal DNA-binding domain, central domain, and N-terminal regulatory domain. This protein binds to a so-called 'Sal box' composed of an 11-base pair motif. The interaction of TTF-I with the 'Sal box' is important for many cellular events, including efficient termination of RNA polymerase-1 activity involved in pre-rRNA synthesis and formation of a chromatin loop. To further understand the role of TTF-I in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-I virus production, we generated various TTF-I mutant forms. Through a series of studies of the over-expression of TTF-I and its derivatives along with co-transfection with either proviral DNA or HIV-I long terminal repeat (LTR)-driven reporter vectors, we determined that wild-type TTF-I downregulates HIV-I LTR activity and virus production, while the TTF-I Myb-like domain alone upregulated virus production, suggesting that wild-type TTF-I inhibits virus production and trans-activation of the LTR sequence; the Myb-like domain of TTF-I increased virus production and trans-activated LTR activity.
Antimicrobial activity of Caesalpina sappan L. extract (CS extract) against animal husbandry disease-related bacteria was studied. The CS extracts showed a significant antimicrobial activity against Gram(+) bacteria and this antimicrobial activity was most significant against Staphylococcus epidermidis. Minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of CS was in the range of 0.8∼16 mg/ml and 0.8∼10 mg/ml, in the case of MeOH extracts and EtOH extracts, respectively. In addition, the antimicrobial activity of each solvent fraction was most significant with EtOAc layer. The antimicrobial activities of CS extracts against most microbial strains were stable by either heat treatment or acid treatment, whereas those against S. aureus and Sal. typhimurium were reduced by acid treatment. The inhibitory effect of CS extracts on microbial cell growth was further examined by the addition of 0, 100, 300, and 500 ppm of CS extracts into growth medium. The growth of gram(+) bacteria, S. aureus and S. epidermidis, was inhibited for 72 hours in all ranges of CS extracts added, but the growth of gram(-) bacteria was only inhibited when at least 100 ppm of CS extracts were added. Taken together, the antimicrobial activities of CS extracts were more effective against gram(+) bacteria compared to those against gram(-) bacteria.
A defective lambda transducing phase carrying acetyl CoA carboxylase gene (fabE) from Escherichia coli chromosome (72 min on the current linkage map) has been isolated. A restriction map of the chromosomal region from defective transducing phage was established by digestion with combination of the restriction enzymes. No cleavage site for the enzyme EcoRI was found in this region. Restriction fragments were cloned from defective transducing phage into high copy number plasmid vector pACYC184 to generate hybrid plasmids which were capable of complementation of fabE temperature sensitive mutation. We show here that the fabE gene is located on a 3.4 megadalton Bam HI-SalI fragment with a HindIII site, which lies within the 7.4 megadalton BglIIfragment, by complementation analysis.
A 7.5 kilobases hybrid plasmid, designated as pCE1301, was constructed by combining Eschurichia cwli plasmid pBELl which carries the kanamycin resistance gene of Tn5 with a cryptic plasmid, pSRl of Corynebacterium glutamicum. pCE1301 was transformed C. glutaicum by PEG-mediated protoplast method and its transformation efficiency was about $3.0\times 10^3$ transformants per $\mu g$ of the hybrid plasmid DNA. The physical map reveals that pCE1301 has single restriction sites for SalI and EcoRl, respectively. 'The kanamycin resistance of pCE1301 was stably maintained in C. glutamicum up to 25 generations and any segregation was not detected. pCI31301 was also introduced into Brevibacterium flavum and E coil, and replicated in those strains. pCE1301 was proved to be useiul in cloning the homoscrine dehydrogenase gene from C. glutamicum.
nif (nitrogen fixation)-H.D, K genes of Frankia sp. SNU 014201. a symbiotic strain isolated from root nodule of Alnus hirsura, were found to be located in the genome on 13.5 kb of EcoRI, 18.0 kb of BamHI, 10.5 kb of BglII and 4.5 kb of KpnI fragments. Using EMBL-3 BamHI arms of bacteriophage lambda. the genomic library was constructed. from which fourteen recombinant phage nif-clones were selected. Among them, Ahnif-I2 had insert DNA of 18 kb, in which 7.9 kb of BamHl fragment contained nif-H, D, K and 3.6 kb of HindlIl/KpnI had nif-H and partial -D. Therefore, the 7.9 kb and 3.6 kb fragments were subcloned and partial restriction maps were constructed. As the results, nif-F1, D.K genes were found to be located continuously on the 6.5 kb of HindII/BamHI and 5.2 kb of SalIIBamHI fragment in the genome of Frankia sp. SNU 014201.

Recently, SDN and NFV technology have been developed actively and provide enormous flexibility of network provisioning. The future network services would generally involve many different types of services such as hologram games, social network live streaming videos and cloud-computing services, which have dynamic service requirements. To provision networks for future services dynamically and efficiently, SDN/NFV orchestrators must clearly understand the service requirements. Currently, network provisioning relies heavily on QoS parameters such as bandwidth, delay, jitter and throughput, and those parameters are necessary to describe the network requirements of a service. However it is often difficult for users to understand and use them proficiently. Therefore, in order to maintain interoperability and homogeneity, it is required to have a service abstraction layer between users and orchestrators. The service abstraction layer analyzes ambiguous user's requirements for the desired services, and this layer generates corresponding refined services requirements. In this paper, we present our initial effort to design a Smart Service Abstraction Layer (SmSAL) for future network architecture, which takes advantage of machine learning method to analyze ambiguous and abstracted user-friendly input parameters and generate corresponding network parameters of the desired service for better network provisioning. As an initial proof-of-concept implementation for providing viability of the proposed idea, we implemented SmSAL with a decision tree model created by learning process with previous service requests in order to generate network parameters related to various audio and video services, and showed that the parameters are generated successfully.
