As the spread of COVID-19 continues, cleanliness and quarantine are emphasized in daily life. If foreign substances enter through the shoe sole when using public facilities, cleanliness may deteriorate and various infections may occur. To prevent this, shoe sole cleaners that filter out foreign substances have been developed. In this study, a design that satisfies structural safety was presented by selecting a new material and updating the design parameter to reduce the weight of the shoe sole cleaner. To evaluate the structural safety, a finite element analysis under selected design loads was performed. Through design improvement and stress analysis, a model that was approximately 85% lighter than the existing model was developed.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the function and the safety of an additional weight shoe developed for the improvement of aerobic capacity, and to improve some problems found by subject's test for an additional weight shoe. The subjects employed for this study were 10 college students. 4 video cameras, AMTI force platform and Pedar insole pressure distribution measurement device were used to analyze foot motions. The results of the study were as follows: 1 The initial achilles tendon angle and initial rearfoot pronation angle of an additional weight shoe during walking were 183.7 deg and 2.33 deg, respectively, and smaller than a barefoot condition. Maximum achilles tendon angle and the angular displacement of achilles tendon angle were 185.35 deg and 4.21 deg respectively, and smaller than barefoot condition. Thus rearfoot stability variables were within the permission value for safety. 2. Maximal anterior posterior ground reaction force of additional weight shoe was appeared to be 1.01-1.2 B.W., and was bigger than a barefoot condition. The time to MAPGRF of an additional weight shoe was longer than a barefoot condition. Maximal vertical ground reaction force of additional weight shoe was appeared to be 2.3-2.7 B.W., and was bigger than a barefoot condition in propulsive force region. But A barefoot condition was bigger in braking force region. The time to MVGRF of an additional weight shoe was longer than a barefoot condition. 3. Regional peak pressure was bigger in medial region than in lateral region in contrast to conventional running shoes. The instant of regional peak pressure was M1-M2-M7-M4-M6-M5 -M3, and differed form conventional running shoes. Regional Impulse was shown to be abnormal patterns. There were no evidences that an additional weight shoe would have function and safety problems through the analysis of rearfoot control and ground reaction force during walking. However, There appeared to have small problem in pressure distribution. It was considered that it would be possible to redesign the inner geometry. This study could not find out safety on human body and exercise effects because of short term research period. Therefore long term study on subject's test would be necessary in the future study.
The purpose of this study was to compare biomechanical factors on badminton shoes between anti-slip outsole and non anti-slip outsole. Six subjects participated in this experiment. For three-dimensional analysis, eight cameras (Oqus 3series, Qualisys) were used to acquire raw data, and then the parameters were calculated and analyzed with Visual-3D. In conclusion, the patterns of spent time during side step, and maximum velocities of CoGs were consistent without joint angles of lower extremities in spite of small differences. Those of GRFs, and moment of lower extremities were absolutely consistent. This trend of biomechanical factors was that Y shoe (ante-treatment) was much greater and PS shoe (treatment) was greater than Y shoe (treatment). (That was, Y shoe (ante-treatment) > PS shoe (treatment) >Y shoe (treatment)). The findings of this study showed that anti-slip outsole was effective and brought increasing performance and decreasing injuries. It is suggested that further study of these phenomena will help understand many aspects of human locomotion, including work, performance, fatigue and possible injuries.
In tread brake of freight cars, brake force is produced by the friction between the wheel and the brake shoe. Friction coefficients associated with the brake power, weight variation and brake shoe types should be sensitively treated as the design parameters. The conditions of the car, empty and loaded, should also be taken into consideration in brake force design and the control of brake force has some limitations in terms of the brake system design so that the brake friction materials selection should be considered as important measures to solve that difficulties. Friction characteristics of brake friction materials should remain within the range of maximum and minimum value and the friction performance should remain stable regardless of brake time and temperature. This study presented an experimental evaluation method to secure optimum brake performance by keeping safe brake effect and brake distance by the friction coefficient of the brake shoe of the freight cars.

Slips and falls are the major causes of the pedestrian injuries in the industry and the general community throughout the world. With the awareness of these problems, the friction coefficients of the interface between floorings and footwear have been measured for the evaluation of slip resistant properties. During this measurement process, the surface texture has been shown to be substantially effective to the friction mechanism between shoe heels and floor surfaces under various types of walking environment. Roughness, either of the floor surface or shoe heels, provides the necessary drainage spaces. This roughness can be designed into the shoe heel but this is inadequate in some cases, especially a wear. Therefore, it is essential that the proper roughness for the floor surface coverings should be provided. The phenomena that observed at the interface between a sliding elastomer and a rigid contaminated floor surface are very diverse and combined mechanisms. Besides, the real surface geometry is quite complicate and the characteristics of both mating surfaces are continuously changing in the process of running-in so that a finite number of surface parameters can not provide a proper description of the complex and peculiar shoe - floor contact sliding mechanism. It is hypothesised that the interface topography changes are mainly occurred in the shoe heel surfaces, because the general property of the shoe is soft in the face of hardness compared with the floor materials This point can be idealized as sliding of a soft shoe heel over an array of wedge-shaped hard asperities of floor surface. Therefore, it is considered that a modelling for shoe - floor contact sliding mechanism is mainly depended upon the surface topography of the floor counterforce. With the model development, several surface parameters were measured and tested to choose the best describing surface parameters. As the result, the asperity peak density (APD) of the floor surface was developed as one of the best describing parameters to explain the ambiguous shoe - floor interface friction mechanism. It is concluded that the floor surface should be continuously monitored with the suitable surface parameters and kept the proper level of roughness to maintain the footwear slip resistance. This result can be applied to the initial stage of design for the floor coverings.

Shoe with leather upper such as safety and golf shoe requires a roughing process where the upper is roughed fur helping outsole to be cemented well. It is an important and basic process for production of leather shoe but is not automated yet. Thus, there are problems that the defect rate is high and the quality of roughed surface is not uniform. In order to solve such problems, the interest in automation of roughing process is being increased and this paper introduces CAM system for 5-axis automatic roughing machine as one part of automation of roughing process. The CAM system developed interpolates a B-spline curve using points measured from the Roughing Path Measurement System. The B-spline curve is used to generate the tool path and orientation data fer a roughing tool which has not only stiffness but also flexibility to rough the inclined surface efficiently. For productivity, the upper of shoe is machined by side of the roughing tool and tool offset is applied to the roughing tool for machining of inclined surface. The generated NC code was applied to 5-axis polishing machine for the test. The upper of shoe was roughed well along the roughing path data from CAM and the roughed surface was proper fur cementing of the outsole.
The present study reports on the results of a risk survey of machinery safety at a shoe factory in Qingdao, China. The aim is to decrease industrial accidents and increase worker job satisfaction by searching for a change from a trend analysis and making improvements in problem areas. The first risk survey for machinery safety was carried out in April 2005. Based on the analysis of the survey results, machinery safety devices was installed in the factory by using CATlA V5. Also, we investigated job satisfaction concerning working apparatus and work tool improvement in a questionnaire about the working environment. The second survey of machinery safety was carried out in September 2005. We are in the process of comparing the first survey results with the second survey results in order to analyze decreasing trend in industrial accidents and improvement in job satisfaction. So far the data have shown improved short-term turnover and absenteeism. It means CATIVA V5 and CFR has had positive effect regarding safety in shoe manufacture industry. The survey with CATIVA V5 and CFR will be expanded to other East-Asian countries including Vietnam. The hope is that the present approach could make a significant contribution toward improved safety.

A roughing process is the one of most important shoe manufacturing processes. Especially, it is indispensable to manufacture the leather shoes such as dress shoes, safety shoes, golf shoes, etc. The roughing process relies greatly on the operator's skill and experience. Therefore, the automation of roughing process is necessary to establish the improvement of productivity. We are trying to develop the Automatic Roughing Machine controlled by NC. As pre-study to do this, we need to measure the roughing path for NC, because there is no study on this pan and no reference about this. In this study, we proposed the 3-Dimensional Scanner System to measure the roughing path with new concept. The developed 3-D scanner System generates the roughing path using the 3 images obtained from 3 CCD cameras. The experimental results show that the proposed system can measure accurately the roughing path.

The safety factor of hydraulic piston pumps & motors due to high pressurization, high speedization and low weight/volume realization to enhance the output density shows a tendency to decrease. Therefore more effective test methods are necessary to predict the exact life. The failure of hydraulic pumps & motors operating in high pressure and high speed mainly occurs in piston-shoe assemblies, and the major failure mode is wearout of the shoe surface. The sensitive parameters in the endurance life test are speed, pressure and temperature, and the failure production increases in proportion to the operating time. In this research, the authors propose the combined accelerated life test model using the analysis method of the combined accelerated life test results of piston-shoe assemblies by applying simultaneously high speed, high pressure and high temperature in accordance with variation of speed, pressure and temperature to reduce the life test time.

With the introduction of the law regarding severe penalties for major accidents, employers, management executives, and corporations have significantly increased the number of safety managers and invested extensively in acquiring ISO certifications to prevent accidents in industrial sites. Moreover, the implementation of the Smart Safety Management System (SSMS) has facilitated the management of personnel and safety equipment. While IoT-based management systems have been applied to safety gear such as helmets, safety harnesses, and protective clothing, the responsibility for safety shoes still primarily lies with on-site managers and individuals, leaving a vulnerability to accidents. In this study, we aim to implement a Raspberry Pi-based sensor device to proactively detect workers' safety shoe usage upon entering the site. The goal is to confirm the usage of safety shoes and prevent accidents that may occur due to non-compliance with safety shoes regulations.
