From the research which it sees it tried to observe from the comfort viewpoint where the passenger feels the high-speed railway car safety standard which it is see clearly from the domestic railroad safety law. It presents a minimum safety standard, the passengers being an safety most, the place where to sleep receive the service which is comfortable from the railroad safety law and they do there is a most big difference. It analyzed the correlation of the comfort where the passenger feels the vehicle efficiency standard which it is presenting from railroad safety law 59th clause and from the research which it sees consequently.
In this paper the system safety program plan(SSPP) for the development of Korea high speed railway system was presented. The plan for the design phase built up base upon MIL-STD 882C, manual for the development of rail transit system safety program plans by American Public Transit Association, and SSPP for Seoul-Pusan High Speed Rail project should be modified and then applied to the phases of manufacturing, test and commissioning. The plan deals with the safety program, the reference standards, the management and responsibility for the safety related activities, the methods to be used for early identifying safety critical items and functions and eliminating or controlling all hazards in a timely and cost-effective manner, and the documentation generated for safety assessment.
More than 80 percent of traffic accidents related with lane departure believed to be the result of crossing the lane due to either negligence or drowsiness of the driver. Lane-departure related accident in the highway usually involve high fatality. Even though LDWS is believed to prevent accident 25% and reduce fatalities by 15% respectively, its effectiveness in performance is yet to be confirmed in many aspects. In this study, the vehicle lateral locations relative to warning zone envelop (earliest and latest warning zone) defined in ISO standard, ECE and NHTSA regulations are compared with respect to various factors including delays, vehicle speed and vehicle heading angle with respect to the lane. Since LDWS is designed to be activated at the speed over 60 km/h, vehicle speed range for the study is set to be from 60 to 100 km/h. The vehicle heading angle (yaw angle) is set to be up to 5 degree away from the lane (abrupt lane change) considering standard for lane change test using double lane-change test specification. The TLC is calculated using factors like vehicle speed, yaw angle and reaction time. In addition, the effect of vehicle type and reaction time have been considered to assess LDWS safety.
The railway track and the substructures constructed in the field test section of Kyongbu High Speed Line are the structures for HSL, for the first time designed and constructed by domestic technical group. It is very important to verify the local design criteria and specifications for these structures and also to assure the recordings for vibration or deflection produced on the essential parts of the structures. The study to verify the high-speed railway track performance and to ensure the run in safety on the track in curved section during the KTX run. Finally, the conclusion are drawn as follows. The measuring values of the deflection effort of the rail and displacement for verifying the track performance in the field test section of Kyoungbu HSL satisfy the criteria of the foreign countries (Japan and Germany). The measured value for the wheel load and the presumed value show the consistent tendency. The wheel loads of the exterior and interior of the rails at the speed superior to 300km/h are measured same. Finally, the comparison between the theoretical value presented during the verification of the derailment to evaluate the safety of the train run at the time of the detailed design of the track and the measured value in the field shows that the correct design of track structure was applied.
Korean High Speed Train (KHST) designed to operate at 350km/h has been tested on high speed line in JungBu site since it was developed in 2002. The dynamic performances of railway vehicle are generally stability, safety and ride comfort. The stability performance of KHST was proved that it is stable at 400Km/h through Roller Rig test. The safety and ride comfort need to be predicted the capability of it at 350km/h by the on-line test because KHST is testing at 300km/h up to now. Therefor, in this paper, the safety and ride comfort at 350km/h are predicted the performance using the acceleration results at 300kw/h and these results show that the KHST's dynamic performances are very good. Also, it illustrate the two cases occurred the abnormal vibration of KHST during some on-line tests. The first case is that the variation of vertical acceleration of wheel is analyzed when an abrasion occur on wheel. The second case is that the lateral acceleration of wheel, bogie and body are analyzed when the KHST is unstable at high speed. The occurrences of these special phenomena were due to the some faults of the suspension and braking systems and the faults were improved. In present, it is testing with safety.
In this study, we tried to derive the most severe scenario and its critical speed by 1-D collision simulation with a variable formation vehicle in order to prepare for the change of demand in Seoul Metropolitan Subway Line 3, which is operated by fixed arrangement. After establishing various collision scenario conditions, the friction coefficient between the wheel and the rail was evaluated as 0.3, which is considered to be severe. As a result of analysis according to all scenarios, the most severe scenario conditions were confirmed by comparing rubber shock absorber performance and vehicle collision deceleration. In addition, a typical wheel-rail friction coefficient was derived through accident cases, and the analysis was performed again and compared. Finally, the criterion of the critical speed in the condition of the friction coefficient of the normal wheel - rail condition was confirmed.
Exceeding the speed limit during vehicle driving is a key factor in the severity of lots of road accidents, and SLIF(Speed Limit Information Function) application is in the initial phase in Korea. SLIF helps the drivers to observe a speed limit when they are driving by providing alert and informing the current limit speed information based on external data using camera and/or digital map, for that reason, environmental conditions could be causes of SLIF malfunctions. In this study, design adequacy analysis of SLIF in respect of false recognition as the Korea traffic environment has been performed. As tentative results, road conditions and structure of speed limit sign as well as system performance often caused misrecognition.
Road design guideline provides the directions on how to design a road alignment based on design speed, and this guideline has a design expectation in that design speed is supposed to be equal to the operating speed of drivers. Horizontal curve design is also based on design speed, and minimum radius is derived based on the drivers comfort while negotiating the curve. However, side friction reflecting drivers comfort is lower than a physical friction measured on wet road surface, therefore, it is reasonable to regard the criterion on minimum radius has a safety margin. Futhermore, the practical preference of choosing the larger radius than minimum leads to a noticeable gap between design speed and operating speed, so links to the violation of design expectation implicated in the guideline. In order to review this assumption, friction and operating speed at rural roads was measured and observed. As the results, a safety margin brought out by the gap between comfort-based friction and measured friction is qualitatively derived. Also, the gap between design speed and operating speed presumably caused by the safety margin and practical preference is analysed. By this, it is suggested that current design guideline should provides not only the minimum radius but also the management of road alignment design to minimize the gap between the design speed and operating speed.
Experimental studies have been performed to examine the influences of wall obstructions in a rectangular confinement. Three wall obstacles with blockage ratios ranging from 10 to 30% were used. Temporally resolved flame front images were recorded by a high-speed video camera to investigate the interaction between a propagating flame and the obstacle. The local flame displacement speed and its probability density functions(PDFs) were obtained for the wall obstructions. During the interaction with the sharp-edges of the wall obstacles, the local propagation speed increased. The increase of local speed became larger as the obstruction ratio increased. However, the averaged flame displacement speeds with different blockage ratios were not significantly different within the chamber as shown in the paper of Park et al. The flame front interaction investigated in this work was less dependent of the obstacle obstructions compared to that published in the literature for large L/D.
For high-speed railways (HSR) in wind prone regions, wind barriers are often installed on bridges to ensure the running safety of trains. This paper analyzes the effect of wind barriers on the running safety of a high-speed train to cross winds when it passes on a bridge. Two simply-supported (S-S) PC bridges in China, one with 32 m box beams and the other with 16 m trough beams, are selected to perform the dynamic analyses. The bridges are modeled by 3-D finite elements and each vehicle in a train by a multi-rigid-body system connected with suspension springs and dashpots. The wind excitations on the train vehicles and the bridges are numerically simulated, using the static tri-component coefficients obtained from a wind tunnel test, taking into account the effects of wind barriers, train speed and the spatial correlation with wind forces on the deck. The whole histories of a train passing over the two bridges under strong cross winds are simulated and compared, considering variations of wind velocities, train speeds and without or with wind barriers. The threshold curves of wind velocity for train running safety on the two bridges are compared, from which the windbreak effect of the wind barrier are evaluated, based on which a beam structure with better performance is recommended.
