Objective : This study aimed to report the improvement of two patients with headache not otherwise classified treated using Saengkangsasim-tang based on the disease pattern identification diagnostic system (DPIDS) based on the Shanghanlun provisions. Methods : Two patients with headache not otherwise classified were treated using Saengkangsasim-tang according to Shanghanlun provisions, and the effect was also compared with Soshiho-tang. The results were evaluated using a numerical rating scale (NRS) and the Korea Headache Impact Test-6 (KHIT-6). In addition, new clinical implications for the interpretation of Shanghanlun provision 157 were reviewed. Results : As a result of analyzing the results of the two cases, treatment with Sosiho-tang was ineffective but improved when using Saengkangsasim-tang. After administration of Saengkangsasim-tang, all headaches decreased to the point where they were not uncomfortable in everyday life. Conclusions : The administration of Saengkangsasim-tang to patients with headache diagnosed according to Shanghanlun provision 157, suggesting that it is clinically effective when applied according to the definitions provided by the Shanghanlun provisions.

Objective : This case report evaluated the effect of Saengkangsasim-tang(生薑瀉心湯) on allergic rhinitis. Methods : Two different patients of allergic rhinitis were treated with Saengkangsasim-tang (生薑瀉心湯) in accordance with diagnostic system based on Shanghanlun(傷寒論) six meridian patterns and provisions. Results : After a series of Saengkangsasim-tang treatments, the symptoms of allergic rhinitis patients improved in 2 cases. Conclusions : According to diagnostic system based on Shanghanlun(傷寒論) six meridian patterns and provisions, this case study shows that Saengkangsasim-tang is effective on allergic rhinitis. However further clinical studies in depth are needed.

Objective : Fatigue is the most common symptom in post-COVID-19 syndrome. We report the case of a patient with post-COVID-19 syndrome with fatigue treated using herbal medicine (Saengkangsasim-tang). Methods : A 64-year-old man had severe fatigue for 4 months after a severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection. Saengkangsasim-tang was administered to this patient based on the disease pattern identification diagnostic system by Shanghanlun provisions (DPIDS). We used the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) to evaluate the effectiveness of Saengkangsasim-tang for fatigue in the patient with post-COVID-19 syndrome. Results : According to DPIDS, the patient was diagnosed with the provision 157. After administration of Saengkangsasim-tang for 30days, the fatigue based on NRS and depression based on BDI were improved. Conclusions : The administration of Saengkangsasim-tang to patients with post-COVID-19 syndrome with fatigue, diagnosed according to the Shanghanlun provision 157, may be effective.
