Considering video copy transform diversity, a multi-feature video copy detection algorithm based on a Speeded-Up Robust Features (SURF) local descriptor is proposed in this paper. Video copy coarse detection is done by an ordinal measure (OM) algorithm after the video is preprocessed. If the matching result is greater than the specified threshold, the video copy fine detection is done based on a SURF descriptor and a box filter is used to extract integral video. In order to improve video copy detection speed, the Hessian matrix trace of the SURF descriptor is used to pre-match, and dimension reduction is done to the traditional SURF feature vector for video matching. Our experimental results indicate that video copy detection precision and recall are greatly improved compared with traditional algorithms, and that our proposed multiple features algorithm has good robustness and discrimination accuracy, as it demonstrated that video detection speed was also improved.

In this paper, we propose a new feature matching algorithm by modifying and combining the FAST(Features from Accelerated Segment Test) feature detector and SURF feature descriptor which is robust to the distortion of the given image. Scale space is generated to consider the variation of the scale and determine the candidate of features in the image robust to the noise. The original FAST algorithm results in many feature points along edges. To solve this problem, we apply the principal curvatures for refining it. We also use SURF descriptor to make it robust against the variations in the image by rotation. Through the experiments, it is shown that the proposed algorithm has better performance than the conventional feature matching algorithms even though it has much less computational load. Especially, it shows a strength for noisy images.
Since the amount of digital image continues to grow in usage, users feel increased difficulty in finding specific images from the image collection. This paper proposes a novel image searching scheme that extracts the image feature using combination of Advanced SURF (Speed-Up Robust Feature) and DCD (Dominant Color Descriptor). The key point of this research is to provide a new feature extraction algorithm to improve the existing SURF method with removal of unnecessary feature in image retrieval, which can be adaptable to mobile system and efficiently run on the mobile environments. To evaluate the proposed scheme, we assessed the performance of simulation in term of average precision and F-score on two databases, commonly used in the field of image retrieval. The experimental results revealed that the proposed algorithm exhibited a significant improvement of over 14.4% in retrieval effectiveness, compared to OpenSURF. The main contribution of this paper is that the proposed approach achieves high accuracy and stability by using ASURF and DCD in searching for natural image on mobile platform.

Recently, the field of computer vision has been actively researched through digital image which can be easily generated as the development and expansion of digital camera technology. Especially, research that extracts and utilizes the feature in image has been actively carried out. The image stitching is a method that creates the high resolution image using features extract and match. Image stitching can be widely used in military and medical purposes as well as in variety fields of real life. In this paper, we have proposed efficient image stitching method using fast feature descriptor extraction and matching based on SURF algorithm. It can be accurately, and quickly found matching point by reduction of dimension of feature descriptor. The feature descriptor is generated by classifying of unnecessary minutiae in extracted features. To reduce the computational time and efficient match feature, we have reduced dimension of the descriptor and expanded orientation window. In our results, the processing time of feature matching and image stitching are faster than previous algorithms, and also that method can make natural-looking stitched image.
SURF is an algorithm which extracts feature points and generates their descriptors from input images, and it is being used for many applications such as object recognition, tracking, and constructing panorama pictures. Although SURF is known to be robust to changes of scale, rotation, and view points, it is hard to implement it in real time due to its complex and repetitive computations. Using 3.3 GHz Pentium, in our experiment, it takes 240ms to extract feature points and create descriptors in a VGA image containing about 1,000 feature points, which means that software implementation cannot meet the real time requirement, especially in embedded systems. In this paper, we present a hardware architecture that can compute the SURF algorithm very fast while consuming minimum hardware resources. Two key concepts of our architecture are parallelism (for repetitive computations) and efficient line memory usage (obtained by analyzing memory access patterns). As a result of FPGA synthesis using Xilinx Virtex5LX330, it occupies 101,348 LUTs and 1,367 KB on-chip memory, giving performance of 30 frames per second at 100 MHz clock.
Object detection and tracking have become one of the most active research areas in the past few years, and play an important role in computer vision applications over our daily life. Many tracking techniques are proposed, and Camshift is an effective algorithm for real time dynamic object tracking, which uses only color features, so that the algorithm is sensitive to illumination and some other environmental elements. This paper presents and implements an effective moving object detection and tracking to reduce the influence of illumination interference, which improve the performance of tracking under similar color background. The implemented prototype system recognizes object using invariant features, and reduces the dimension of feature descriptor to rectify the problems. The experimental result shows that that the system is superior to the existing methods in processing time, and maintains better problem ratios in various environments.

In this paper, we propose a fast object classification method based on texture and color information for video surveillance. We take the advantage of local patches by extracting SURF and color histogram from images. SURF gives intensity content information and color information strengthens distinctiveness by providing links to patch content. We achieve the advantages of fast computation of SURF as well as color cues of objects. We use Bag of Word models to generate global descriptors of a region of interest (ROI) or an image using the local features, and Na$\ddot{i}$ve Bayes model for classifying the global descriptor. In this paper, we also investigate discriminative descriptor named Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT). Our experiment result for 4 classes of the objects shows 95.75% of classification rate.
SURF is a robust local invariant feature descriptor and has been used in many applications such as object recognition. Even though this algorithm has similar matching accuracy compared to the SIFT, which is another popular feature extraction algorithm, it has advantage in matching time. However, these descriptors do not consider relative location information of extracted interesting points to guarantee rotation invariance. Also, since they use gray image of original color image, they do not use the color information of images, either. In this paper, we propose a method for improving matching performance of SURF descriptor using the color and relative location information of interest points. The location information is built from the angles between the line connecting the centers of interest points and the orientation line constructed for the center of each interest points. For the color information, color histogram is constructed for the region of each interest point. We show the performance of our scheme through experiments.

SURF algorithm is an algorithm to extract feature points and to generate descriptors from input images. It is robust to change of environment such as scale, rotation, illumination and view points. Because of these features, it is used for many image processing applications such as object recognition, constructing panorama pictures and 3D image restoration. But there is disadvantage for real time operation because many recognition algorithms such as SURF algorithm requires a lot of calculations. In this paper, we propose a design of feature extractor and descriptor generator based on SURF for high memory efficiency. The proposed design reduced a memory access and memory usage to operate in real time.

이러한 문제점을 보완하기 위해 SURF(Scale Invariant Feature Transform), SIFT(Speed up Robust Features) 등의 알고리즘이 제안 되었지만, 여전히 조명변화에 불안정하고 정확하지 못한 성능을 보인다.
