This study examined the relationship between SNS use and individual psychological well-being on Instagram. In particular, this study sorted three types of perceived social support-informational, companionship, and self-esteem-to investigate how they influenced individual life satisfaction and loneliness. Results from a survey of 174 college students showed that: (1) frequency of Instagram use was a significant predictor of all three types of perceived social support; (2) status updates had positive effects on perceived self-esteem support, while posting photos was a significant predictor of perceived companionship support; (3) browsing others' profiles was a significant negative predictor of perceived self-esteem support and finally (4) perceived companionship social support had a positive effect on life satisfaction, whereas self-esteem social support had a negative effect on loneliness. These findings imply that Instagram users obtain specific types of social support depending on which activities they engage in and that different types of social support have different effects on well-being.
In the medical web forum, people share medical experience and information as patients and patents' families. Some people search medical information written in non-expert language and some people offer words of comport to who are suffering from diseases. Medical web forums play a role of the informative support and the emotional support. We propose the automatic classification model of articles in the medical web forum into the information support and emotional support. We extract text features of articles in web forum using text mining techniques from the perspective of linguistics and then perform supervised learning to classify texts into the information support and the emotional support types. We adopt the Support Vector Machine (SVM), Naive-Bayesian, decision tree for automatic classification. We apply the proposed model to the HealthBoards forum, which is also one of the largest and most dynamic medical web forum.
Stereolithography is a process used to rapidly produce stereolithographic parts directly from three dimensional CAD models. However, design methodologies necessary to create components to be built by stereolithography are different from those required by conventional machining processes. A case in point is the nescessity of support structures, which are used to support a component during the building the build but are removed once building and curing are complete. Support structures are required to anchor the component to the platform and to prevent sagging or disortion. This paper deals with the specially maintained SupportMap data structure to find some region which need support structures. Interferences between support structures and parts, as well as among support structures are checked and statically stable regions are searched to remove the surplus support structures. Cross shaped tooth profiles are designed for easy eliminating the support structures.
The behavior of an opening and the performance of support system depend upon the load-deformation characteristics of ground and support as well as of the manner and of timing of support installation. The load-deformation characteristics of ground and support are derived by the interaction between ground and support. The interaction between ground and support is qualitatively illustrated by a ground response curve. The behavior of an opening and the performance of support system depend upon the load-deformation characteristics of ground and support as well as of the manner and of timing of support installation. The interaction between ground and support is qualitatively illustrated by a ground response curve. The convergence-confinement method don't need the basic assumptions for a mathematical model. Also This is applicable to general tunnel. Consequently the stability of tunnel must be qualitatively investigated by a ground response curve and quantitatively adjudged by a numerical analysis for the reasonable design of tunnel.
Purpose: This study was to identify the influence of sexual behavior, body image, social support, and other characteristics on sexual satisfaction in patients with breast cancer according to their participation in a support group. Method: Data was collected by self-report questionnaires. Participants included 63 patients attending a support group and 76 patients who did not participate in the support group. The questionnaire sections consisted of sexual satisfaction, sexual behavior, body image, social support and information on general characteristics, disease-related characteristics, and sexual life-related characteristics. Result: There was no statistically significant difference in sexual behavior, body image and sexual satisfaction between the two groups. Social support scores were significantly higher in the support group. Sexual satisfaction was positively related with sexual behavior, post-op change of sexual intercourse frequency, body image, and patient's education level, and negatively related to age in the support group. Sexual satisfaction was positively related with sexual behavior, social support and body image in the non support group. Sexual behavior is predictable 37.0% of sexual satisfaction in the support group. Sexual behavior, body image, and social support is predictable for 38.0% of the sexual satisfaction in non support group participants. Conclusion: Implications point to the need for the development and implementation of programs that focus specifically on sexual life issues for breast cancer patients, as well as further research measuring the effects of such intervention programs. Continuous education and counseling through participation in support groups can contribute to promote and affirm a healthy sexual life for patients with breast cancer.
Social support may play an important role in relieving the feelings of guilt and shame of unwed mothers due to social insults and ignorance and in helping them from physical and psychological harm caused by them. In addition hope may encourage to seek out a new way of life. To determine if a relationship between perceived social support and hope exists in unwed mothers a descriptive study was conducted in the facilities providing basic data for promoting the health of unwed mothers. A demographic data sheet and two instruments were used : Indirectly Perceived Social Support Scale(IPSSS) developed by Park Jee Won (revised by Jo Moo Yong), Miller Hope Scale(adapted and revised by Lee Mi Ja), 95 unmarried mothers participated. The mean score of perceived social support was 3.17. Family support was the highest(3.47) and unwed father support was the lowest(2.53) in sub-scales. Material support(3.53) was the highest in family support. Emotional support(3.58) was the highest in friends support. Informational support(3.39) was the highest in facilities-concerned personal support. The mean score of hope was 3.41 : the satisfaction with self, others and life was the highest(3.82) and anticipation of future was the lowest(3.27) in sub-scale. There was not a statistically significant relationship between social support and hope. A statistically significant relationship was found between facilities-concerned personal support and hope. In conclusion, facilities-concerned positive encouragement for unwed mothers and a program promoting support and hope from families, friends and unwed father are necessary to promote hope and health in unwed mothers.
Generally, in construction sites, the pipe support installation workers often use support pins of 9~10 mm which are much smaller than the safety standard sizes for work convenience. Although the safety certification standard thickness of the support pins is 11 mm, and the supervisors are often indifferent to this. Hence, products with far lower performance than the pipe support safety certification value of 40,000 N, which is applied in the supporting post-structural review, are used. Accordingly, this acts as a factor causing collapse accidents in the process of pouring concrete at the construction site. Therefore, this study performed compression experiments on new and reused pipe supports to determine how the thickness of the support pins affects the structural compression performance of the pipe support by considering the thickness of the support pins as a critical variable among various factors affecting the pipe support performance. In the course of the study, the compression test of the pipe support (V2, V4) for the new products showed that only 14 (58.3%) of the total 24 samples satisfied the safety certification standard value of 40,000 N, which indicates that more thorough quality control is required in the manufacturing process. Additionally, comparing the thickness of the support pins and their fracture shape shows that the pipes with support length of 4.0 m or longer are much more affected by the buckling of the entire length than the thickness of the support pins. Of the several factors affecting the performance of reused pipe supports, it was found that, similar to the new products, the use of support pins, with thickness of 12 mm rather than 11 mm, can satisfy the safety certification value more appropriately. Therefore, regardless of the state of usage, it could be concluded that it is necessary to use 12 mm products, whose thickness is larger than that of the safety certification standard value of 11 mm, to improve the performance of the pipe supports.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the concept of social support of nursing students using a hybrid model and to derive a definition and attributes of social support through theoretical, fieldwork, and final analysis stages. Methods: Twenty-nine studies were analyzed in the theoretical stage. Seventeen in-depth interviews were conducted with nursing students in the fieldwork stage. In the final analysis stage, the concept of social support was defined and the attributes were derived by integrating the theoretical and fieldwork stages. Results: The attributes of social support of nursing students identified in the final analysis consisted of two dimensions and eight attributes. The two dimensions were structural and functional support. The eight attributes were social network, educational, emotional, informational, economic, positive evaluation, self-esteem support, and support by providing a role model provision. The structural dimension included the social network support attribute. The functional dimension included the remaining seven attributes. Educational support and support by providing of a role model provision were newly derived attributes that reflected specific characteristics of nursing students. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, we suggest that researchers should attempt to develop a scale to measure the social support of nursing students.

Study was to identify the structural and functional characteristics of social support system to better provide social support to physically handicapped children. The research design was a comparative descriptive study and the data were obtained by use of interview and questionnaire. The result of this were as follows: 1. The physically handicapped children perceived that they had a fewer number of social support providers than the non-handicapped children. (t= -4.62, p<.001) 2. The physically handicapped children Perceived a lower level of social support than the non-handicapped children. (t= -3.93, p<.001) In the cases of 3 types of social support (social integration, attachment / intimacy, assistance/guidance), the handicapped children perceived a lower level of social support. 3. It was found that physically handicapped children and nonhandicapped children perceived degree of social support differently (x$^2$=72.08, p<.001). and also the two groups perceived in all types of social support differently. 4. The results of this study showed that parents, school mates, school teachers, brothers and sisters were significant providers of social support and between the two groups the supportive source ranked consistently. (rs=.83, p<.01) 5. The relationship between sociability and the support level was a positive correlation (r=.28, p<.01), the relationship between sociability and the size of the support network showed a positive correlation. (r=.47, p<.01) And with the increase in the number of friends. the number of support providers increased. (F= 4.46, p<.05).
