A Study on the press warm forming of stainless-aluminum clad sheet metals (스테인레스-알루미늄 클래드 강판재의 프레스 온간 성형 연구)

  • The effect of press warm forming in cylindrical deep drawing of stainless-aluminum clad sheet metals are examined . The temperature of die and blank holder is varied from room temperature to 20$0^{\circ}C$, while the punch is kept cooled during test to increase the fracture strength of workpiece on the punch corner area. Test materials chosen for experiments are STS304-Al050-STS304, STS304-A1050-STS430-, STS304 and Al050 metals and teflon film as a lubricant is used on both sides of a workpiece. The limit drawing ration as well as quality of drawn cups (distribution of thickness and hardness)are investigated and discussed.

A Study on Tool Wear in Drilling STS 304 Steel Pipe Material (STS 304 배관재의 드릴가공시 공구마모에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this investigation is experimentally to clarify the machinability and tool wear of STS 304 steel pipe material for piping. In order to determine the effects of cutting parameters and tool wear on thrust, torque, AE RMS, drilling is conducted on CNC milling machine. In this experiment, it is measured that thrust, torque, tool wear length, tool wear area and AE RMS during drilling using Hss tool. It has been found that a) During the drilling, the thrust and the torque of the STS 304 pipe are received more the effect of the feed than the spindle speed and the thrust increase with the increase of feed, b) The value of the AE RMS is been larger the effect of the cutting speed than the feed rate, and the value of the AE RMS increase with the increase of spindle speed, c) It has been found that the suitable feed in feed condition of 0.03, 0.05, 0.1, 0.15mm/rev is below 0.05mm/rev, d) The value of the AE RMS was shown a characteristic of the jump value during it was a sudden inrcrease of the tool wear. The increased character of the AE RMS value can be known an effective factor of the tool wear detection, and e) It can be quantitatively evaluated the condition of the tool according to calculate a area of the drill wear image which is obtained by a vision system.

The Effects of the STS 304 Hollow Cylinder Property Variations on the Non-Steady Heat Conduction (STS 304 중공 원통의 물성치 변화가 비정상 열전도에 미치는 영향)

  • The effects of the STS 304 hollow cylinder property variations on the non-steady heat conduction are considered in this paper. In the non steady state, the specific heat and conductivity are depended on the temperature variations, and these properties affect to the governing equation on heat conduction. But the most of numerical analysis on heat conduction is assumed to constant properties which is conductivity and specific heat. Assuming that the properties are reacted sensitively, the numerical results can have the difference of between constant properties with non constant properties. The main parameters are specific heat and conductivity. The temperature distributions of the STS 304 hollow cylinder became in steady state after 4 minutes in case of the constant properties. As the conductivity is varied with temperature, the temperature distributions became in steady state after 15 minutes. Therefore, a numerical analysis of the non steady state heat transfer is so important in case of varying temperature.

  • According to the research report for the recent a few years, the dissimilar welding of Cu and STS 304 alloy have been presented that a weldability is very poor. This article present a study on Lap joint by Electron beam welding dissimilar materials. The weld metals was constituted between pure copper and STS 304 steel. The experiment was performed with 125mA welding current, 520mA focusing current. The Vacuum condition of chamber is 5${\times}$10-5torr and welding speed is 300mm/min. Showing the bead shape of weld metal, the thickness of the stainless 304 using as the protect materials is 3mm and the thickness of a copper is 15mm. The analysis about the microstructure were carried out in which it was observed with SEM. The results showed that complex heterogeneous fusion zone microstructure characterized both by rapid cooling and mixing of the molten metal, however the liquation crack was formated in the fusion line.

  • This paper investigated on anti-corrosion characteristic in chemical decontamination at extremely severe condition{process model-2) of stainless steels used with reactor coolant pump. The electrochemical properties of stainless steel{STS) 304 with the lapse qf cycle is better than those of STS 415 and STS 431. The STS 304 in process model-1 and process model-2 present the lowest weightloss ratio. The experiment results for STS 304, STS 415, and STS 431 in process model-2 solution, it was ascertained that weightloss ratio of process model-2 solution for process model-1 solution show 2..908, 2.572, and 2.370 times, respectively. The reason suggests that process model-2 is higher concentration of chemical and temperature compare to process model-1.

  • Thermal and mechanical characteristics in dissimilar SS400-STS304 steel weldment have been investigated by 3D thermal elastic-plastic analysis. Moreover, the influence of welding residual stresses on the mechanical behaviour of this welded joint, by applying superimposed external load (tension load) was determined. The residual stresses obtained by numerical simulation were compared with the experimentally measured results. The FE results were in good agreement with the measured values. The mechanical test (hardness, tensile test) and metallurgical analysis was carried out to ensure the weld integrity. Hence, possibility of applying SS400-STS304 dissimilar steels in industries has been established.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the welding distortion of the circular type lap joint in STS304L of 0.7mm thickness by using FEA. In order to do it, a heat input model for GTA welding process with non-consumable electrode was established through comparing the molten pool shapes and temperature distributions obtained by both FEA and experiment. With the heat input model, the welding distortion of the circular type lap joint was evaluated by 3-D FEA. From FEA results, it was found that 3-D FEA with proper heat input model can be used for the evaluation of the excessive distortion of the circular type lap joint of STS304L thin plate. In addition, the root cause of the excessive distortion in the weld was also identified as the excessive compressive residual stress in the tangential direction of the weld.

Fretting Wear Characteristics of STS304 Steel in Seawater (해수 중에서 STS304강의 프레팅 마멸특성)

  • The fretting wear characteristics of STS304 steel in seawater were investigated experimentally. A fretting wear tester was designed to be suitable for this fretting test. This study was focused on the effects due to the combination of normal load, slip amplitude and number of cycles and corrosive environment as the main factors of fretting. The results of this study showed that the wear volume increased abruptly at slip amplitude between 70 $\mu\textrm{m}$∼100 $\mu\textrm{m}$ by fracture of oxide layers but above that slip amplitude the wear volume increased steadily.
