The Preliminary Study on the Changes of Mammary Tissue Oxygenation During Zusanli($ST_{36}$) Acupuncture Monitored by Diffuse Optical Imaging (Diffuse Optical Imaging으로 측정한 족삼리($ST_{36}$) 자침이 유방조직 산소공급 변화에 대한 기초 연구)

  • 목적 : 족삼리($ST_{36}$) 자침이 유방 조직에 미치는 혈역학적 변화를 측정하기 위하여 diffuse optical imaging 기법을 사용하였다. 방법 : 실험에 사용한 쥐는 자침을 하지 않은 대조군 7마리, 자침을 한 실험군 7마리로 총 2개의 군으로 나누었다. 몸무게 170g 정도의 건강한 암컷 쥐는 100% 산소와 1.5% isoflurane을 혼합한 것을 이용하여 마취 시켰다. 자침은 경골 조면에서 2mm 외측에 위치한 지점인 족삼리($ST_{36}$)에 20분간 시행하였다. 자침을 시작할 때와 자침 후 10분에 각각 침을 5회 회전하였다. Diffuse optical imaging system을 이용하여 자침하는 동안 의 산화혈색소(OHb), 탈산소혈색소(RHb), 총 혈색소(THb)와 조직 산소 포화도($StO_2$)의 변화를 측정했다. 결과 : 실험 결과 족삼리($ST_{36}$) 자침을 시행한 실험군에서 대조군에 비하여 유의성이 있는 OHb, RHb, THb의 증가와 유의성이 없는 $StO_2$의 감소가 나타났다. 결론 : 이러한 결과 족삼리($ST_{36}$) 자침이 혈류를 증가시키고 동시에 세포 대사 활동을 증가 시키는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 diffuse optical imaging 기법으로 족삼리($ST_{36}$) 자침 시의 유방 조직의 산소공급과 혈류량의 변화를 확인할 수 있었고, 이는 비침습적으로 자침의 효과를 측정하는 데 활용될 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.

The Effect of Schizonepeta tenuifolia on Osteoblast (형개(荊芥)가 조골세포(造骨細胞)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • Objectives : The author aimed to evaluate the effect of BuOH fraction(ST) from Schizonepeta tenuifolia on osteoblast proliferation in murine calvarial cells. Methods : The osteoblast separated from murine calvariae was cultivated for 10 days and evaluated the cell function. After the addition of ST on the culture medium, we determined the effect of ST on the cell proliferation, protein synthesis, alkaline phosphatase activity, collagen synthesis, and apoptosis of the osteoblast. Results : 1. ST increased the proliferation of osteoblast, and restored the decreased cell number in glucocorticoid (GC)-treated osteoblast. 2. ST increased protein synthesis of osteoblast, and restored the decreased protein synthesis in GC-treated osteoblast. 3. ST increased ALP activity of osteoblast, and restored the decreased enzyme activity in GC-treated osteoblast. 4. ST increased collagen synthesis of osteoblast, and restored the decreased collagen synthesis in GC-treated osteoblast. 5. ST did not change the survival rate of osteoblast, but increased the survival rate in GC-treated osteoblast. Conclusions : It is concluded that ST might reduce the osteoporosis resulted from augumentation of osteoblast proliferation.

Evaluation of ST2 and NT-proBNP as Cardiac Biomarkers in Dogs With Chronic Mitral Valve Disease

  • Recently assessment of suppression of tumorigenicity 2 (ST2) level has become a useful cardiac biomarker in human medicine. This study compared serum ST2 levels and N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) levels between healthy dogs and dogs with chronic mitral valve disease. Twenty client-owned dogs were investigated. Dogs were divided into normal, asymptomatic, and symptomatic groups. Serum samples were used to measure levels of NT-proBNP and ST2. Samples for NT-proBNP were sent to IDEXX laboratory for analysis while ST2 levels were measured by using a canine interleukin 33 receptor ELISA kit. There was a significant difference in NT-proBNP levels between asymptomatic and symptomatic groups (P < 0.01), and between normal and symptomatic groups (P < 0.01). In contrast, ST2 levels were not relatively different between asymptomatic and symptomatic groups (P > 0.05). There was no significant difference was observed among all groups in ST2 study. The usefulness of measuring NT-proBNP level as a cardiac biomarker in dogs with chronic mitral valve disease was confirmed, but usefulness of the ST2 level was not observed. Further investigations are needed to evaluate the potential usefulness of ST2 level as a cardiac biomarker in canines.

A Study on Anti-oxidative Effect of Electroacupuncture at Pungnyung($ST_{40}$) in Rats (풍륭(豊隆) 전침(電鍼)의 항산화(抗酸化) 효과(效果)에 대한 실험적(實驗的) 연구(硏究))

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to observe the anti-oxidative effects of electroacupuncture at Pungyung($ST_{40}$) in rats. Methods : The author performed several experiments, including measurements of body weightrelative liver weightslevels of albumin, total bilirubin, LDL-cholesterol, LDH, GOT and GPT in serum levels of SOD, glutathione, catalase, NO and MDA in the liver and histological analysis of the liver. Results : 1. Liver index was decreased in the $ST_{40}-EA$ group compared with the holder group and the control group. 2. LDL-cholesterol was significantly decreased in the $ST_{40}-EA$ group compared with the group. 3. SOD activity was significantly increased in the $ST_{40}-EA$ group and $ST_{40}-NR$ group compared with the control group. Glutathione activity was significantly increased in the $ST_{40}-EA$ group compared with the control group, the holder group, and the Sham-EA group. Catalase activity was significantly increased in the $ST_{40}-EA$ group compared with the control group and the holder group. Conclusions : These results suggest that electroacupuncture at $ST_{40}$ has an antioxidant effect in rats.

A Repository Model of Security Environment Contents based on CC (CC 기반의 보안환경 컨텐츠 리파지토리 모델)

  • A development of PP/ST is essential in CC environment. And, the KOREA is expected that PP/STs demand increases explosively by joining to CCRA hereafter. Specially, PP/ST development experience of the KOREA is lacking. So, development of security environment(assume, threat, policy) and security objective contents refer only PP/ST Guide(ISO/IEC PDTR 15446) are very difficult. In this paper, we propose a web service based common security environment and security objective repository model that make developers can run PP/ST creation to be simple. Through proposed model, developers who development experience is lacking are expected to achieve PP/ST development to be simple.

Effect of Environmental Factors on Female's Reproductive Traits of Korean Native Cattle (한우 종빈우의 번식능력에 영향을 미치는 환경요인에 관한 연구)

  • The study was conducted to investigate the effects on environmental factors on the reproductive performance of Korean native cattle based on the data from 13, 588 records which were surveyed from 1983 to 1992. The results obtained in this study are as follows; 1. Mean performaces of the reproductive traits were 510.2days for the age at 1st service, 525.0days for the age at 1st conception, 808.7 days for the age at 1st calving, 102.5 days for the days to 1st conception postpartum and 388.6 days of the calving inverval. The cows of Chunbuk province were tended to be bred and calved at younger age and showed shorter calving interval than those of other provinces. 2. The effect of birth year was significant for the reproductive performances, especially, in 1986~1987 when the cattle prices dropped sharply and reproductive performances were poor. 3. The times of 1st service and 1st conception of heifers calved in spring tended to be delayed. Days to 1st conception postpartum, calving interval and days to 1st service postpartum of cows calved in fall were shorter than other calving season's cows. 4. Days to 1st conception postpartum, calving interval and days to 1st service postpartum of cow's were shortened and gestation length was prolonged as the number of parity increases.

Synthesis of Monodispersed Magnetic Polymer Particle (균일한 자성 고분자 입자의 합성)

  • Monodispersed particles of poly(styrene-co-4-vinylpyridine), poly(st-co-4vp) were prepared by soapless emulsion polymerization. Iron oxide was formed on the surface and inside of the poly(st-co-4vp) particles by thermal decompostion of iron pentacarbonyl. The obtained magnetic poly(st-co-4vp) particles was mondispersed and the average size was 250 nm. The magnetic poly(st-co-4vp) particles had 14% of iron oxide, which was identified as $Fe_3O_4$ by XRD. The magnetic poly(st-co-4vp) particles had superparamagnetism according to superconducting susceptometer (SQUID).

Identification of Streptomyces species antagonistic to Fusarium solani causing Ginseng root rot (인삼 뿌리썩음 병균, Fusarium solani에 길항적인 Streptomyces species의 동정)

  • Among 131 isolates of Strptomyces obtained from ginseng cultivating soil, the two isolates ST59 and ST129 showing high antagonistic activity to Fusarium solani(Mart.) Appel & We. causing ginseng root rot were identified. The two isolates were identified Streptomyces alboniger Porter, et al. and Strptomyces reseolilacinus Pridham, et al., respectively, based on mrophology, cultural, and physiological characteristics on various culture media. Spore chains of ST59 and ST129 were flexuous(RF) and coiled(S). Spore surfaces of two isolates were all smooth. Aerial mass color of ST59 was white series and ST129 red series.
