This investigation was performed to isloate and identify the total bacteria, Staphylococcus spp. and fungi from the indoor air exposed for 30 minutes on the blood agar plate at the 27 places in a hospital. Antibiotic susceptibility tests of the isolated bacteria were also studied. The mean numbers of total bacteria, Staphylococci spp. and fungi were 26, 17, and 2 in the summer and 19, 8, and 2 in the winter, respectively. Staphylococcus epidermidis was the most common isolated bacteria, and the next was Staphylococcus aureus, Aerococcus spp., Micrococcus spp., and Bacillus spp. from the indoor-air of hospital. Aspergillus spp., Cephalosporum spp., Curvularia spp., penicillium spp., and Phialophora spp. was frequently isolated from the indoor-air of hospital. The 109 strains of isolated Staphylococcus epidermidis sho-wed resistance to tetracycline(45.0%), methicillin(40.2%), erythromycin(31.2%), and kanamycin(24.8%). The 76 strains of isolated Staphylococcus aureus showed resistance to erythromycin(71.7%), methicillin(63.2%), kanamycin (44.7%), tetracycline(39.5%), and ampicillin(32.9). The 67 strains of isolated Aerococcus spp. showed resistance to erythromycin(26.9%), methicillin(25.4%), kanamycin(22%), and tetracycline(22.4%). The 48 strains of isolated Micrococus spp. showed resistance to tetracycline(27.0%), methicillin(22.9%), erythromycin(22.9%), and kanamycin(20.8%).

This study was conducted to investigate the effect of stem node number, pinching time and growth retardants on the growth of Coreopsis spp. and Dianthus spp. Thy day of seedings are not passed period of 4 weeks after seedlings in the Cutting number and the days seedlings of joint experiments of Coreopsis spp. 2 node ranches treatment of Coreopsis spp. are reasonable valuable as ornamental pot product. Pinching time of Coreopsis spp. was more effectiveis on lateral and growth inhibition in the two times pinching treatment. It is observed that plant growth inhibitors was affected the growth of Coreopsis spp. It is observed that B-9 treatment is the effective plants growth and differentiation, especially the 2 times treatment with 4,000 ppm was the most effective. On the other hand, CCC treatment showed significant differences. B-9 treatment of Coreopsis spp was more effectived than the other treatment. Pinching and plant growth inhibitors of Dianthus spp. was not good the growth and plant height. Compared with B-9 4,000 ppm 2 times and control increased leaves extremely. it confirmed that the things are positively affective.
Studies on the antimutagenicity of Lactobacillus spp. and Bifidobactrium spp. against 2-nitrofluorene have been conducted utilyzing Salmonella typhimurium TA 98 in order to characterize the activity by the starter and non-starter strains. The average antimutagenic activity of Lactobacillus spp. and Bifidobactrium spp. against 2-nitrofluorene was 20.29% and L. plantarum CU 722 revealed the greatest mutation inhibition activity of 50.34%. An intensive antimutagenicity was found in the cell wall and cytoplasm fraction of L. plantarum CU 722 in skim milk culture showing inhibition rate of 34.9% and 24.5% respectively and very low activity remained in cell free broth and in lactic acid. The optimum cultivation time for Lactobacillus spp. and Bifidobacterium spp. to inhibit mutation was 24 hours and the optimum preincubation time of the reaction mixture containing the mutagen, lactic culture and indicator strain was 60 minutes, and the optimum incubation time for the test plates was 48 hours.

Suspected infections of Campylobacter spp and Clostridium spp were observed in three dogs. The diagnosis was based on fecal cytology, Gram's stain, clinical signs and serum chemistry. The rectal swabs of diarrheic dogs were performed to confirm the enteropathogens. Suspected Campylobacter spp were a sea-gull shape and Clostridium spp had a large, clear endospore in rectal cytology. Treatment with appropriate antibiotics resulted in a complete resolution of all clinical abnormalities in three cases. The source of Campylobacter spp and Clostridium spp could not be found clearly in three cases, but gastrointestinal origin was most likely. When detecting the enteropathogens in feces, fecal smear with Wright's and Gram's stain should be made at first and also, if the patients have canine parvoviral enteritis, attention should be paid to confirm the Campylobacter spp and Clostridium spp. In addition, since Campylobacter spp and Clostridium spp as normal bacterial flora exists in canine intestines, it is thought that microbiological isolation should be performed to confirm the suspected Campylobacter spp and Clostridium spp as primary enteropathogens in subsequent study.
A field test using Nophazin (drying off period therapeutics) was done from May, 1989 to October, 1989. 299 quarters of 75 cows from 28 herds were tested. The results were summarized as follows. 1. At the day 7 after parturition, CMT-was 81.60%, clots were removed perfectly, removal rate of hard, hot, pain was 99.6%, only one hard 0.35% was maintained. Recovery rate of general symptoms was 100%. 2. Recovery rate in Nophazin treatment was 100% in Micro-coccus SPP, Corynebacterium SPP, and unisolated, 97.06% in Enterobacterid SPP, 95.58% in Staphylococcus SPP, 91.67% in other Bacilli, 89.19% in Streptococcus SPP, Overall recovery rate was 95.32%, And fungi did not react. 3. The ratio of isolated microorganisms was Staphylococcus SPP 49.8%, Streptococcus SPP 16.3%, Enterobacteria SPP 15.0%, Micrococcus SPP 7.9% Corynebacterium SPP 4.4%, Pseudomonas SPP 2.6%, Bacilli 2.6% and Fungi 1.3%. 4. The range of sensitivity of each microorganism to therapeutics is as follow : Staphylococcus SPP 61.1∼94.7%, Streptococcus SPP 51.4∼91.9%, Micrococcus SPP 44.4∼94.4%, Corynebacterium SPP 70∼80%, Enterobacteria SPP 11.8∼88.2%, and other Gram negative bacilli 8.3∼83.3%. Overall sensitivity was in the range of 50.4∼92.0%, Microorganisms showed the highest sensitivity (80∼94.7%) to Nophazin. 5. New intramammary infection rate was 3.96% (9 strains) at paturition, 8.37% (19 strains) at the day 7 after paturition. Persistent organism wits 6.17% .(14 strains). 6. There was no side effect of Nophazin treatment.
This study was done with 105 cases of dermatomycosis of dermatological patients who had visited the dermatology clinic in Taejon city. Of dermatophytosis, the decreasing orders of clinical location by the incidence were Tinea pedis (44.8%), Tinea cruris (30.5 %) and Tinea corporis (10.5%). The organisms identified from dermatophytoses were 6 genus: the decreasing orders of frequency were Trichophyton spp. (43.5%), Candida spp. (12.9%), Microsporium spp. (3.2%) and Epdermophyton flocosum(1.6%). The most common causative organisms was Trichophyton spp.
Lectin activities and chemical characteristics of Escherichia coli, Lactobacillus spp. and Bifidobacterium spp. originating from the porcine cecal mucosal layer were studied based on hemagglutination assay (HA) and hemagglutination inhibition assay (HIA). Although all the bacterial strains were able to agglutinate erythrocytes of porcine or rabbit origin, much higher HA titers were consistently observed for Lactobacillus spp. than for E. coli or for Bifidobacterium spp. A remarkable reduction in HA titers occurred by the treatment of E. coli and Lactobacillus spp. with protease or trypsin and of Bifidobacterium spp. with protease, trypsin or periodate. There were no significant effects on the HA titers of the three groups of bacteria after the treatment with lipase. Hemagglutination of E. coli was strongly inhibited by D (+)-mannose and D (+)-galactose; Lactobacillus spp. by $\alpha$-L-rhamnose and methyl-$\beta$-galactopyranoside; Bifidobacterium spp. by D (+)-alactose, $\alpha$-L-rhamnose, $\alpha$-L-fucose, L (+)-arabinose, D (+)-mannose, D (-)-fructose at a relatively low concentration (1.43 to 3.75 mg/ml). These results, combined with the enhanced HA activities of the three bacterial strains by modification of rabbit erythrocytes with neuraminidase and abolished HA activity of E. coli after treatment with $\beta$-galactosidase, indicate that it might be the glycoproteinous substances surrounding the surface of the bacterial cells that are responsible for the adhesions of these microorganisms by recognizing the specific receptors on the red blood cell.
A multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was developed for the simultaneous detection and differentiation among Vairimorpha spp. and Nosema spp. and identification of Vairimorpha necatrix from Lepidoptera insects. Three sets of primers were selected from different genomic sequences to specifically amplify an 831 bp amplicon within the SSU rRNA gene, specific for both Vairimorpha spp. and Nosema spp. (MSSR primer); a 542 bp amplicon within the SSU rRNA gene, specific for Vairimorpha spp. (VSSU primer); and a 476 bp amplicon within the actin gene, specific for Vairimorpha necatrix (VNAG primer). Using the primers in conjunction with multiplex PCR, it was possible to detect Vairimorpha spp. and Nosema spp. and to differentiate between them. The sensitivity of this PCR assay was approximately 10 spores per milliliter. It is proposed that the multiplex PCR is a sensitive, specific, and rapid tool that can serve as a useful differential diagnostic tool for detecting Vairimorpha spp. and Nosema spp. in Lepidoptera insect.
This study was investigated to isolate identify the total bacteria and fungi from the indoor air of work-place of the shoes, paint, stainless steel, and plastic industries. The number of bacterial colonies on the nutrient agar plates were calculated by the open petridish method for 30 minutes in indoor air of work-places at the autumn and winter. The isolated bacteria were identified by Gram stain and biochemical test using API Staph and API 20E kits. The isolated fungal colonies were identified by gross appearance of the giant colonies and microscopic examination of their spore and hyphal characteristics on the slide culture method. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of several antibiotics against isolated bacteria was determined by the microdilution method with Mueller-Hinton broth. The 70-400 colonies in autumn and 54-236 colonies in winter were isolated from the indoor air of work-places of several industry. The isolation rates of Gram positive cocci, Gram positive bacilli, Gram negative bacilli, and Gram negative cocci were 46.3%, 19.8%, 17.3%, and 16.1%, respectively. In Gram positive cocci, the most strains were identified as Aerococcus spp, Micrococcus spp, and Staphylococcus spp. In Gram positive and negative bacilli, and Gram negative cocci were identified as Bacillus spp, Pseudomonas spp, and Neisseria spp, respectively. The frequently isolated fungi were Aspergillus spp, Penicillium spp and Rhizopus spp, respectively. The frequently isolated Aerococcus spp, Micrococcus spp, and Staphylococus spp were highly resistance against ampicillin, erythromycin, methicillin, and tetracycline. These results arouse our attention to microbiologic pollution in the indoor air of work-places of industries.

This study was performed to examine the distribution patterns, ecological characteristics and celluar fatty acid compositions of marine bacteria in Suyeong Bay. During study periods, total cell count (TC) and viable cell count (VC) were $10^7-10^8/m\ell\;and\;10^4-10^6\;cfu/m\ell$, respectively. The temporal variations of TC showed similar patterns between surface and bottom layer, but the VC at bottom decreased gradually from winter to summer. Among the 303 bacterial strains isolated in the study area, which belong to 10 genus types, Pseudomonas spp., $(32.3\%)$, Acinetobader sup. $(19.1\%)$, Vibrio spp. $(11.2\%)$, Flovobacterium spp. $(10.6\%)$ and Bacillus spp. $(7.9\%)$ were dominant. Thirty-one fatty acids were detected from Pseudomonas spp. and Bacillus spp., which were the most predominated among Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria. Celluar fatty acid compositions of Bacillus spp. were relatively simple compared to those of Pseudomonas spp.. Relatively high ratio of monounsaturated forms were detected in Pseudomonas spp. while branched types were dominant in those of Bacillus spp.. Hydroxy and cyclopropane fatty acid were detected only in the cellular fatty acid of Pseudomonas spp.. Cellular fatty acid compositions of Pseudomonas spp. revealed relatively high percentage of $C_{16:1},\;C_{17:1},\;C_{18:1}\;and\;C_{16:0}$, While Bacillus spp. predominated $C_{16:0}\;iso\;C_{16:0}\;anteiso,\;C_{17:0}\;anteiso\;and\;C_{16:1}$.
