There were many useful plants such as 20 taxa of Korean endemics and 10 taxa of specially designated plants which were determined by the Korea Forest Service. The designated in endangered plants by the Ministry of Environment, which should be protected by the wildlife protection law, were identified as 3 taxa and 64 taxa of specially designated floristic regional indicator plants by the Ministry of Environment. Based on the list of approved for delivering overseas of plants, 23 taxa were recorded in the investigated area. The naturalized plants were identified as 22 taxa, and their naturalization ratio were found to be 3.8% respectively. The 573 taxa listed consists of 217 taxa(37.8%) of edible plants, 181 taxa(31.5%) of medicinal plants, 91 taxa(15.8%) of pasture plants, 86 taxa(15%) of ornamental plants, 19 taxa(3.3%) of timber plants, 11 taxa(1.9%) of fiber plants and 7 taxa(1.2%) of industrial plants.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the vascular flora of Mt. Munsu. The vascular plants collected in 13 times(from Mar. to Oct. 2009) were identified as 511 taxa in total, including 113 families, 332 genera, 445 species, 5 subspecies, 46 varieties, 5 forms. Among them, 6 taxa of the Korea Forest Service-designated rare & endangered plants and the Korean endemic plants were identified as 2 taxa. Based on the list of approved for delivering overseas of plants, 6 taxa were recorded in the investigated area. The Ministry of Environment-designated plants, which should be protected by the wildlife protection law, were identified as 2 taxa and 39 taxa of specially designated plants by the Ministry of Environment. The naturalized plants were identified as 53 taxa, and their naturalization ratio and urban index were found to be 10,3%, and 18.5% respectively. There existed many kinds of plants resources having conservational value like Ranunculus trichophyllus var. kadzusensis, Jeffersonia dubia etc, in this area, but there remains a fear of nature destruction's acceleration due to indiscriminate human development and access of a lot of visitors, so it is judged that there should be a management plan, such as a limit on the number of visitors or rest-year-system for restoration of nature.

The vascular plants were summarized as 441taxa, including 90 families, 277 genera, 388 species, 2 subspecies, 35 varieties, and 6 forms. Number of species in each investigated region was 271taxa of Namdaecheon, 247taxa of Jusucheon, and 285taxa of Maeupcheon, respectively. Among the investigated 441taxa, 7 Korean endemic, 5 rare plants and 37 specially designated plants by Ministry of Environment were also included. Aquatic and hydrophyte plants were collected 41taxa, and the thinophyte and halophyte plants were investigated 22taxa. The naturalized plants were 59taxa, and the percent of naturalized plant species was estimated as 13.3%. Based on the floristic composition, Maeupcheon was estimated as well conserved estuary region among the investigated 3 rivers.

  • The flora of vascular plants in the Geumgang area (Mt. Guryongsan, Mt. Jeonwolsan, Mt. Samasan, Mt. Yongmeorisan and Mt. Hamrasan) was investigated to suggest strategies for conservation. This study was performed from May 2007 to April 2008, with total 17 times. The Korean endemic species, legally protected species and species to threaten domestic ecosystem species to threaten were grasped on this study. The flora consists of 334 taxa, 86 families 246 genera 297 species 34 varieies and 3 forms in total results from 5 sites in this study. Korean endemic species were confirmed 8 taxa. No rare and endangered species were found in this study. The 2 taxa of the fourth grade of specially designated plants announced the Ministry of Environment were investigated and 8 taxa of the third grade were confirmed. In totally, 24 taxa that are specially designated plants announced the Ministry of Environment including the first and the second grade taxa. 25 taxa of alien naturalized plants were confirmed. The degree of destroy of forest vegetation and reduction of plant diversity in the midstream of Geumgang were in proceeding by construction of multifunctional administrative city and cultivation. It is needed to set up strategies for conservation forest vegetation in this study area.

  • The flora of vascular plants in Geojedo revealed to be 550 taxa based on only the voucher specimens to be collected. It comprise 108 families, 341 genera, 478 species, 69 varieties and 3 forms respectively. Among them, 13 taxa of Korean endemics and 8 taxa of rare and endangered plants were investigated in addition to 75 taxa of specially designated plants announced by the Ministry of Environment. Furthermore, 36 taxa of induced and naturalized plants were also observed in this area. One of the characteristics of forest vegetation is the broadly occupation of Pinus thunbergii on whole area of Geojedo. Although it's well condition and conservation status, the destruction area of vegetation was rapidly increasing by the industrial development, the deforestation and the tramp as well as by the basic disturbances of human beings. Therefore, more active and positive conservation strategy such as expansion of conservation area should be prepared rapidly by the results of long-term monitoring studies.
