After excavation work of relics, historical site which has historically meaningful, are preserved using the various methods. There are three method in the relocation methods that are original relocation method, the remaining structure-peel method, and soil peel method. The original relocation method is restored after relocating in historical site such as residential site, iron foundry site, kiln site, old mound. The remaining structure-peel method are restored only the feature of exposed remaining structure using polymeric resin, when it is difficult to relocate the entire remaining structure. And soil-peel method is exhibited after peeling in case when soil layers such as grave of old mound, foundation of building site, sedimentary deposit layer, shell heap, and etc. Soil-peel method becomes important historical data of changes according to environment at that time, that is, flooding by storm, traces of fire and living features of that time such as heaps of shells discarded after eating shellfish and living wastes. In particular, in case of soil layer for preparing foundation sites of building by compacting in turn soils with different components such as clay soil, rough sand soil and etc, it becomes important data which can judge foundation technology of that time. It can be said to be an important data preservation method for utilizing these historical data as historical data as well as for the purpose of education, exhibitions and public relations which can be shared not only by experts but also by general public. In this paper, we present the reliable definition of soil-peel method in various preservation methods and explain the using polymer in this method. So, we will come up with the accurate index about this method that is used the eminent analysis method for soil layer.

A lunar rover's optical camera is used to provide navigation and terrain information in an exploration zone. However, due to the scant presence of atmosphere, the Moon has homogeneous terrain with dark soil. Also, in extreme environments, the rover has limited data storage with low computation capability. Thus, for successful exploration, it is required to examine feature detection and matching methods which are robust to lunar terrain and environmental characteristics. In this research, SIFT, SURF, BRISK, ORB, and AKAZE are comparatively analyzed with lunar terrain images from a lunar rover. Experimental results show that SIFT and AKAZE are most robust for lunar terrain characteristics. AKAZE detects less quantity of feature points than SIFT, but feature points are detected and matched with high precision and the least computational cost. AKAZE is adequate for fast and accurate navigation information. Although SIFT has the highest computational cost, the largest quantity of feature points are stably detected and matched. The rover periodically sends terrain images to Earth. Thus, SIFT is suitable for global 3D terrain map construction in that a large amount of terrain images can be processed on Earth. Study results are expected to provide a guideline to utilize feature detection and matching methods for future lunar exploration rovers.

This study was carried out to compare growth and yield performance for soil conditions at the Maize Genetics and Breeding Lab. in Chungnam National University. The waxy hybrid corn in the drained soil of paddy field showed higher fresh yield per 10a and 100-kernel weight per plant than control. The average dry yield of drained and drainless soil were 804kg/10a and 498kg/10a compared with a control (751kg/10a), respectively. The waxy hybrid corn in the drained soil also had better good stand and stay green characteristics than drainless soil condition, and showed moderately resistance to water stress and weed. Vegetational feature of weeds was characterized as the prevalence of Acalypha auatralis, Echinochloa crus-galli, Persicaria hydrpopiper in drained paddy soil and Persicaria hydrpopiper, Acalypha auatralis, Echinochloa crus-galli in drainless paddy soil, and Echinochloa crus-galli, Acalypha auatralis in upland soil.
Recently, the intensive rainstorm possibly induced by global warming plays a key role on the instability of railway adjacent slopes. The instability of slopes results as covering and loss of railway lines induced by slided soil mass. According to the site investigation on the failed slopes triggered by rainfall, low types of slope failure were observed: shallow, intermediate, gully erosion, and soil-rock interface failures. The observation reveals the different characteristics of slope failure depending on the thickness of soil layer, morphological features of slope, etc. Based upon the observations, flume tests were conducted to analyze the sliding mechanism of each failure. The variables of flume test are soil layer thickness, rainfall intensity, and morphology of slope under the constant condition of the percentage of fine, initial soil moisture content, slope angle and compaction energy. Test results show that shallow failure was mostly observed from the surface of the slope and caused by the soil erosion; in addition, compared to the other types of failure, the occurrence of initial erosion is late, however, the development of erosion is fast. In gully erosion failure, the collected water from the water catchment area helps erosion of the upper soil layer and transfer of residual corestone, which impedes the erosion process once the upper soil layers are eroded and corestone are exposed. The soil-rock interface failure shows the most fast initial erosion process among the failure types. Interestingly, the common feature observed from the different types of failure was the occurrence of the initial deformation near the toe of slopes which implies the existence of surbsurface flow along the downslope direction.
In this study (II), the module developed in the previous study (I) has been tested on application and numerical stability. The runoff module was compared the result of analysis with two different models (FFC2Q and $Vflo^{TM}$) considering characteristic of infiltration. To examine the application and stability of developed module, runoff aspect was simulated under the variety case of rainfall intensity, effective soil depth, elapsed time. The development module was presented typical type of infiltration process looking physically, the different of saturation point on soil type, and characteristic of soil type. Also, the module was reflected in the runoff feature about rainfall intensity and time distribution. Finally, this paper drew a conclusion that result of rainfall-runoff analysis as compared with difference models (FFC2Q and $Vflo^{TM}$) has a high accuracy.

The adequate control of TBM face pressure is of vital importance to maintain face stability by preventing face collapse and surface settlement. An EPB shield TBM excavates the ground by applying face pressure with the excavated soil in the pressure chamber. One of the challenges during the EPB shield TBM operation is the control of face pressure due to difficulty in managing the excavated soil. In this study, the face pressure of an EPB shield TBM was predicted using the geological and operational data acquired from a domestic TBM tunnel site. Four machine learning algorithms: KNN (K-Nearest Neighbors), SVM (Support Vector Machine), RF (Random Forest), and XGB (eXtreme Gradient Boosting) were applied to predict the face pressure. The model comparison results showed that the RF model yielded the lowest RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) value of 7.35 kPa. Therefore, the RF model was selected as the optimal machine learning algorithm. In addition, the feature importance of the RF model was analyzed to evaluate appropriately the influence of each feature on the face pressure. The water pressure indicated the highest influence, and the importance of the geological conditions was higher in general than that of the operation features in the considered site.
The drawdown distribution due to pumping by horizontal or slanted wells is analyzed by numerical modelling. In the numerical modelling uses 1-D discrete element feature included in commercial groundwater modeling program FEFLOW (version 5.1) and the results are compared with the semi analytic solution which uses superposition of successive point sources proposed by Zhan and Zlotnik (2002). Results of the numerical modeling agree well with the semi analytic solution except for very near field region of sink sources. The drawdown distribution due to pumping in riverbank filtration(RBF) plan site can be evaluated quantitatively by the numerical modeling in this study.
This work is to study experimentally the measurment of pore air pressure according to rainfall in colluvium model and the characteristics of pore water pressure according to increasement of artesian ground water head. After modeling a geological feature of the Tertiary formation, the experiment was performed about sixty times on three kinds of soil. This experimental results showed the variation of pore water and pore air pressures with time, the change of void ratio and appling pressure head in the nonsaturated soil. It can be also expressed by the final pore water and the air reaction ratios and then formularizing the relationship between the permeability coefficient and the void ratio. In the results of this experiment, the patterns of the pore water pressure reaction are classified by the step-type and the wave-type, and the time-lag to reach final point of pore water pressure is in order sand, sandy silt and clayey sand.

This study focused on the sediment reduction effects of VFS (vegetative filter strip) systems for the general characteristics of uplands in Korea. General conditions of upland fields were investigated through national scales of annual agricultural statistics. 7-15 % of slope with loam soil was the dominant types of uplands, and the hydrologic soil group feature usually belong to Type B. The common sizes of uplands were bigger than 0.1 ha and less than 0.2 ha, and 86.2 % of them account for less than 1.0 ha. With this information, 0.1 ha, 0.5 ha, and 1.0 ha of uplands with various shapes and 7-15 % of slopes were considered for the VFS system simulations. 20 mm, 40 mm, and 100 mm of daily precipitation were applied. As a result, the trapping efficiencies of VFS systems were obtained 37.4~100 % for 7 % slope and 18.1~98.0 % for 15 % slope of the less than 1.0ha of uplands. As rainfall increased, sediment loads also increased with slope and slope length increase. Also as size and slope of uplands and slope length increased with VFS length decrease, the trapping efficiency decreased for the same amount of rainfall. The optimum lengths of VFS systems for the givien upland conditions were suggested based on the modelling results with condition of VFS length less than 20 % of upland areas.
We first review some history of the Global Geodynamics Project (GGP), particularly in the progress of ground-satellite gravity comparisons. The GGP Satellite Project has involved the measurement of ground-based superconducting gravimeters (SGs) in Europe for several years and we make quantitative comparisons with the latest satellite GRACE data and hydrological models. The primary goal is to recover information about seasonal hydrology cycles, and we find a good correlation at the microgal level between the data and modeling. One interesting feature of the data is low soil moisture resulting from the European heat wave in 2003. An issue with the ground-based stations is the possibility of mass variations in the soil above a station, and particularly for underground stations these have to be modeled precisely. Based on this work with a regional array, we estimate the effectiveness of future SG arrays to measure co-seismic deformation and silent-slip events. Finally we consider gravity surveys in volcanic areas, and predict the accuracy in modeling subsurface density variations over time periods from months to years.
