한국 남해에서 채집된 둥글넙치과(가자미목) 1미기록종, Crossorhombus azureus 후기자어의 형태기재 및 분자동정 (Morphological description and molecular identification of the newly recorded bothid, Crossorhombus azureus (Bothidae, Pleuronectiformes) postlarva collected from the southern sea of Korea)

  • A single postlarva (9.72 mm in standard length) specimen of Crossorhombus azureus (Alcock, 1889) belonging to the family Bothidae, was collected using a bongo net from the southern sea of Korea on December 10, 2019. This species is characterized by having spines on post basipterygial processes. It has two eyes located at the opposite side in head, which accordingly belongs to pre-metamorphosis stage. Melanophores are distributed on the dorsal and anal fin base on the right side (blind side), which is regarded as a useful identification key distinguishing C. azureus from congeneric species in their postlarval stage. A molecular analysis based on mitochondrial DNA COI sequences showed that our specimen was closely matched to adult C. azureus (K2P distance = 0.017). As there is no Korean name for the genus Crossorhombus in spite of presence of Crossorhombus kobensis and its Korean name "Go-be-dung-geul-neob-chi" in Korea, we proposed a new Korean name "Dung-geul-neob-chi-sog" for the genus Crossorhombus and "Pa-lang-dung-geul-neob-chi" for the species C. azureus.

  • 가자미목 가자미과에 속하는 Atheresthes evermanni 2개체(표준체장 407~438 mm)가 동해 중부 고성군 연안에서 자망으로 채집되었다. 본 개체는 입이 크고 양안간격이 좁으며, 무안측에서 눈이 보이지 않고 새파는 가늘고 길며, 꼬리지느러미는 만입형이고 측선은 거의 직선인 특징을 가지고 있다. 우리나라 해역에서 A. evermanni는 처음 기록되고, 본 종을 우리나라 어류상에 포함시키며 새로운 속명과 국명으로 각각 '화살치가자미속' 및 '화살치가자미'를 제안한다.

Software Library Design for GNSS/INS Integrated Navigation Based on Multi-Sensor Information of Android Smartphone

  • In this paper, we designed a software library that produces integrated Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) / Inertial Navigation System (INS) navigation information using the raw measurements provided by the GNSS chipset, gyroscope, accelerometer and magnetometer embedded in android smartphone. Loosely coupled integration method was used to derive information of GNSS /INS integrated navigation. An application built in the designed library was developed and installed on the android smartphone. And we conducted field experiments. GNSS navigation messages were collected in the Radio Technical Commission for Maritime Service (RTCM 3.0) format by the Network Transport of RTCM via Internet Protocol (NTRIP). As a result of experiments, it was confirmed that design requirements were satisfied by deriving navigation such as three-dimensional position and speed, course over ground (COG), speed over ground (SOG), heading and protection level (PL) using the designed library. In addition, the results of this experiment are expected to be applicable to maritime navigation applications using smart device.

한국 강원도 고성에서 채집된 장갱이과 어류 1미기록종 Lumpenopsis pavlenkoi Soldatov, 1916 (First Record of Lumpenopsis pavlenkoi Soldatov, 1916 (Pisces: Stichaeidae) Collected from Gosung, Gangwon Province, Korea)

  • For the first time, a single specimen (68.47 mm in total length) of Lumpenopsis pavlenkoi Soldatov, 1916 belonging to the family Stichaeidae was collected from the northernmost area of the eastern coast of Korea (Gosung, Gangwon Province) in April, 2020, using square net (1.0 m width, 0.3 m height, 2.0 mm mesh size). This species is characterized by elongated and compressed body, absence of lateral line and cirri on head, presence of scales on cheek, dorsal fin with only 50 spines, anal fin with 2 spines and 30 soft rays, and separated operculum and isthmus. The body is yellowish with 7 saddles. The new Korean name "Kko-ma-be-do-ra-chi-sog" is proposed for the genus Lumpenopsis, and "Deung-jeom-kko-ma-be-do-ra-chi" is proposed for the species L. pavlenkoi.

First record of Brachaluteres ulvarum (Tetraodontiformes: Monacanthidae) from Jeju-do Island, southern Korea

  • A single specimen (39.4 mm standard length) of Brachaluteres ulvarum, belonging to the family Monacanthidae has been recorded for the first time from Supseom, Jeju-do Island of southern Korea on 6 March 2021. This species was characterized by the presence of a small second dorsal spine present, the posterior end of pelvic without encasing scales, and numerous thin dark longitudinal lines on body. It was morphologically similar to the B. taylori, but distinguished by the ratio of the caudal peduncle to the head length (B. ulvarum, 2.5 to 3.7 times; B. taylori, 3.5 to 5.2 times). In addition, the former is well distinguished from the latter through mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) sequences by genetic distances of range from 0.088 to 0.090. The new Korean name "Kko-ma-jwi-chi- sog" is proposed for the genus Brachaluteres, and "Kko-ma-jwi-chi" for the species B. ulvarum.

한국산 곰치과(뱀장어목) 어류 1 미기록종, Echidna nebulosa (First Record of Echidna nebulosa (Anguilliformes, Muraenidae) from Korea)

  • A single specimen (522.0 mm in total length) of the family Muraenidae, collected from the waters off south-western Jeju-do Island in November 2021, was identified as Echidna nebulosa on the basis of morphological and molecular methods (DNA barcoding). This species is characterized by several morphological traits as follows: 10 rounded molar, median intermaxillary, and vomerine teeth; 4 predorsal vertebrae, 50 preanal vertebrae and 123 total vertebrae; and a pale background color with two rows of 17-20 blackish brown starry blotches along the head and body. As this is the first record of E. nebulosa in Korea, we propose the new Korean names, "Dung-Geun-Ni-Gom-Chi-Sog" for the genus Echidna, and "Beol-Kkok-Gom-Chi" for E. nebulosa.

Estimating Hydrodynamic Coefficients of Real Ships Using AIS Data and Support Vector Regression

  • In response to the complexity and time demands of conventional methods for estimating the hydrodynamic coefficients, this study aims to revolutionize ship maneuvering analysis by utilizing automatic identification system (AIS) data and the Support Vector Regression (SVR) algorithm. The AIS data were collected and processed to remove outliers and impute missing values. The rate of turn (ROT), speed over ground (SOG), course over ground (COG) and heading (HDG) in AIS data were used to calculate the rudder angle and ship velocity components, which were then used as training data for a regression model. The accuracy and efficiency of the algorithm were validated by comparing SVR-based estimated hydrodynamic coefficients and the original hydrodynamic coefficients of the Mariner class vessel. The validated SVR algorithm was then applied to estimate the hydrodynamic coefficients for real ships using AIS data. The turning circle test wassimulated from calculated hydrodynamic coefficients and compared with the AIS data. The research results demonstrate the effectiveness of the SVR model in accurately estimating the hydrodynamic coefficients from the AIS data. In conclusion, this study proposes the viability of employing SVR model and AIS data for accurately estimating the hydrodynamic coefficients. It offers a practical approach to ship maneuvering prediction and control in the maritime industry.

한국산 투라치과(Lampridiformes: Trachipteridae) 어류의 분류학적 재검토 (Taxonomic Review of the Family Trachipteridae (Lampridiformes) from Korea)

  • 본 연구는 2006년 6월부터 2008년 8월까지 우리나라 동해, 남해 및 제주도 주변 해역에서 채집된 투라치, Trachipterus ishikawae (Jordan and Snyder, 1901) 7개체, 홍투라치, Zu cristatus (Bonelli, 1820) 4개체 및 1미기록종인 Desmodema polystictum (Ogilby, 1897) 2개체의 형태형질을 조사하여 한국산 투라치과 어류의 분류학적 재검토를 실시하였다. 한국 미기록종인 D. polystictum는 배쪽 가장자리가 매끄럽고, 체측에 어두운 수십개의 둥근 반문이 산재하는 특징을 보여, 새로운 한국명으로 "점투라치"를 제안한다. 홍투라치는 제1~제6 등지느러미 연조 및 배지느러미 연조가 길게 신장된 특징을 나타내었다. 투라치는 배쪽 가장자리에 날카로운 돌기가 나 있으며, 체형은 가늘고 긴 일직선의 형태를 나타내었다. 계수형질에서는 등지느러미 연조수가 투라치(178~195개), 홍투라치(137~148개), 점투라치(125~130개) 순으로 많았고, 척추골수는 투라치(80~83개), 점투라치(72~74개), 홍투라치(64~68개) 순으로 많아 잘 구분되었다.

  • Unicameral bone cysts are benign solitary lesions that occur in the first two decades of life and with a greater frequency in the humerus and femur. The cyst is usually asymptomatic unless a fracture or impending fracture is present. The traditional method of treating unicameral cysts has been curettage with bone graft or steroid injection. Also, pathologic fractures in the calcaneus, unlike in other bones, are reported especially in the children to be nonexistent. In general, closed treatment was recommended for most of the calcaneal fractures in children, but suggested open reduction when joint displacement was severe. We report a case of displaced intraarticular fracture of the calcaneus with unicameral bone cyst in a child treated by classic curettage, allograft and open reduction with screw fixation.

멥쌀 전분의 호화특성 (Gelatinization Characteristics of Nonwaxy Rice Starches)

  • 멥쌀 중에서 태백과 상풍 두품종으로부터 전분을 분리하고 그 전분특성을 규명하였다. 태백 전분의 아밀로스 함량은 16%, 입자의 크기는 $3{\sim}8{\mu}$인 반면 상풍 전분의 아밀로스 함량은 17%, 입자의 크기는 $3{\sim}10{\mu}$였다. 호화온도가 높아짐에따라 팽윤도와 용해도는 증가하여 $90^{\circ}C$에서의 팽윤도는 태백전분이 12.12, 상풍 전분이 11.54였으며, 용해도는 태백 전분이 3.10%, 상풍전분이 3.92%였다. 전분농도의 상승에 따라 pasting 온도의 감소는 상풍전분의 경우 보다 현저하였으며, 최대점도는 태백전분이 높은 경향이었다. 태백과 상풍전분의 희석 용액에 있어서 광투과성의 증대는 $85^{\circ}C$$90^{\circ}C$의 호화온도 범위내에서 주로 이루어졌다. 태백전분과 상풍전분의 호화 반응은 $60{\sim}90^{\circ}C$의 호화온도 범위에서는 2단계로 나타나고 있었다. 3단계 호화반응시의 활성화에너지는 태백전분이 26.53kcal/mole, 상풍전분이 25.14kcal/mole이었으며, 2단계 호화 반응시의 활성화 에너지는 태백전분이 $18.48{\sim}70.34kcal/mole$, 상풍전분이 $15.90{\sim}79.98kcal/mole$이었다.
