ClC-1 is a member of a large family of voltage-gated chloride channels, abundantly expressed in human skeletal muscle. Mutations in ClC-1 are associated with myotonia congenita (MC) and result in loss of regulation of membrane excitability in skeletal muscle. We studied the electrophysiological characteristics of six mutants found among Korean MC patients, using patch clamp methods in HEK293 cells. Here, we found that the autosomal dominant mutants S189C and P480S displayed reduced chloride conductances compared to WT. Autosomal recessive mutant M128I did not show a typical rapid deactivation of Cl- currents. While sporadic mutant G523D displayed sustained activation of $Cl^-$ currents in the whole cell traces, the other sporadic mutants, M373L and M609K, demonstrated rapid deactivations. $V_{1/2}$ of these mutants was shifted to more depolarizing potentials. In order to identify potential effects on gating processes, slow and fast gating was analyzed for each mutant. We show that slow gating of the mutants tends to be shifted toward more positive potentials in comparison to WT. Collectively, these six mutants found among Korean patients demonstrated modifications of channel gating behaviors and reduced chloride conductances that likely contribute to the physiologic changes of MC.

This paper aims to examine a truth about love - the close relationship between a person's passionate love and that same person's loneliness and suppressed desires, a relationship that Carson McCullers (1917-1967) portrays in The Ballad of the Sad Cafe. McCullers, one of several brilliant writers from Southern America, managed to overcome her cruel situation and showed deep insight into the human condition, particularly in regard to the relation between love and isolation. The Ballad of the Sad Cafe, like her other works, examines the spiritual isolation and the agony of love that three lovers experience. The love in this story is a triangular relationship among the three main characters, Amelia, Lymon and Marvin Macy. The distinctive characteristics of love described in this story are that each character falls into blind and passionate love for the person he/she loves, no matter how the beloved responds. Love also changes the lover, not the beloved, revealing the completely opposite nature of the lover. The opposite nature and the inner secrets that the love reveals about the lovers reflect their frustrated and suppressed desires, which is femininity and motherhood for Amelia, non-violent masculine power for Macy, and physical attraction and power for the hunchback, Lymon. These suppressed desires are rooted in the deep sense of frustration that they had to experience in their childhood. In short, the seemingly unconditional love of the main characters is not an ideal, altruistic love, but a reflection of their inner desires. This story, however, does not seem to criticize this kind of love but simply tries to give an honest picture of what love might be. It also admits that 'deformed' love is still better than no love (and consequently no stimulus) because what really damages and causes decay in human beings and in a community, is the state of boredom.

폐기되는 연어 정자로부터 프로타민을 제조하여 프로타민이 가지는 항균성 및 항산화성을 시험하였다. 그 결과 제조시 전처리 방법에 따라 추출 수율이 차이가 있었는데, 초음파와 균질기 전처리에 의한 추출 방법은 수율에 큰 차이를 보이지 않았지만, $80^{\circ}C$로 가열되는 마이크로파 전처리는 다른 전처리 시료에 비해 5%이상 수율이 낮았다. 각 조건별로 제조된 프로타민 시료들의 아미노산 분석 결과, 시판 프로타민의 경우 arginine 함량이 전체 61.1% 정도를 차지하였고, proline 함량은 11% 정도였다. $H_{2}SO_{4}$ 용액으로 균질화하여 추출한 M의 경우 arginine 함량이 19.3% 정도였고, 반면 methionine과 proline이 각각 34.3%, 28.1% 정도를 차지하였으며, 균질화시킨 다음 $H_{2}SO_{4}$ 용액으로 추출한 MC도 시판 프로타민과 유사한 조성을 나타내었다. 마이크로파 전처리 P60 및 초음파 전처리 UU6는 arginine이 각각 60.8%, 52.4%를 차지하였고, P60은 proline 함량이, UU6는 tryptophan 함량이 다소 많은 것이 차이였다. 제조된 프로타민은 곰팡이 이외에 그람양성 및 음성 세균에 대해 항균활성이 있었고, UU6나 P60이 다른 시료에 비해 활성이 높았고, 일부 세균에 대해서는 농도 의존성이 있으며, 시판 제품보다 높은 항균활성을 나타내었다. 프로타민의 항산화성은 전처리 방법에 관계없이 모든 시료에서 확인되었으며, 전처리 방법에 따라 어느정도 차이를 보였다. $EDA_{50}$을 측정한 결과, P60이 $101\;{\mu}g/mL$, UU6가 $410\;{\mu}g/mL$, M이 $520\;{\mu}g/mL$, MC가 $490\;{\mu}g/mL$였으며, 시판 프로타민은 $470\;{\mu}g/mL$였다.

본 연구는 잠실제2롯데월드 초고층 건축 프로젝트의 기둥축소량에 필요한 첫 번째 단계인 재료연구(일명 콘크리트 테스트 프로그램)의 일환으로 진행되고 있다. 현재까지 18개월간의 크리프 및 건조수축 측정결과가 확보되어 있으며 이에 대한 강도와 하중재령별로 분석을 실시하였고 추가적으로 회기분석을 실시하여 예측모델식에 따른 유도식을 제안하였다. 비교분석 시 사용된 예측 모델식은 ACI209R Model, Bazant-Baweja B3 Model, CEB MC99 Model, 및 GL2000 Model 등과 같이 네 가지 의 모델식을 활용하였다. 결과분석항목은 실무에서 활용되고 있는 전체 건조수축 변형과 단위 응력당 전체 크리프 변형(Compliance)에 대해서 실시하였다.

ATM 망으로 연결된 하나의 서브 네트워크에서 MCS(Multicast Server)에 의한 멀티캐스팅은 전송 폭주에 대해 효율적인 제어방식을 요구한다. 본 논문에서는 MCS를 이용하여 TCP 패킷에 대한 멀티캐스팅을 구현하고 버퍼의 효율적 전송제어를 위해 공통 버퍼를 가지는 EPD + SPD방식 (Early Packet Discard-same Source Packet Discard)을 제안한다. MCS에서 전송 버퍼에 대한 임계치를 넘어서면 버퍼에 오버플로우가 발생하기 이전에 셀을 폐기시키는 것으로 손상된 패킷의 전송을 막기 위하여 부분적 셀 폐기 대신 손상된 패킷 전체를 폐기하는 방식(EPD-Early Packet Discard)을 제공한다. 또한 TCP 패킷의 재전송 중복에 대한 부하를 줄이기 위해 동일한 송신측의 패킷을 폐기하는 방식 (SPD-same Source Packet Drop)을 제안한다. 시뮬레이션 결과에서는 전송 데이터 폐기에 대한 기존의 방식(Tail Drop), EPD 방식을 고려한 DFF(Drop From Front)와 본 논문에서 제안한 EPD + SPD방식과의 성능 분석을 한다.

This paper focuses on the pilot-scale investigation of direct recycling of electric arc furnace (EAF) stainless steelmaking dust. The direct recycling of EAF dust is to make pellets with the mixture of the dust and the reducing agent carbon, then introduce the pellets to the EAF. The valuable metals in the dust are reduced and get into the steel as the alloying elements. Experiments simulating direct recycling in an EAF were performed using an induction furnace. But it seems difficult to reduce all metal oxides in the dust so that some metal reducing agents added in the late stage of reduction process. The valuable metals in the dust were reduced partly by carbon and partly by metal reducing agent for the economical concern. The recovery of iron, chromium and nickel from the flue dust and the amount of metal oxides in the slag were measured. The results showed that the direct recycling of EAF stainless steelmaking dust is practicable. It wes also found that direct recycling of flue EAF stainless steelmaking dusts does not affect the chemistry and quality of stainless steel produced in the EAF. It is benefit not only for the environmental protection but also for the recovery of valuable metal resources in this way.

로지스틱 회귀모형에서 suppression의 논의는 선형회귀의 논의보다 많지 않은데 그 이유 중의 하나는 회귀제곱합 또는 결정계수의 정의가 유일하지 않고 다양하기 때문이다. 여러 종류의 결정계수들 중에서 선호되는 두 종류의 결정계수와 Liao와 McGee(2003)가 제안한 두 종류의 수정 결정계수의 정의로부터 회귀제곱합을 유도하여 로지스틱 회귀모형에서의 suppression을 설명하고자 한다. 모의실험을 통하여 자료를 생성하여 어떤 경우에 suppression이 발생하는지를 살펴보고 그 결과를 선형회귀모형에서의 suppression 결과와 비교한다.

A study of the comparison of customers' satisfaction and loyalty at McDonald's two types of outlets is presented. The objective of this study is to test correlation among selection attributes, customer satisfaction and loyalty of customers patronizing two types of Mcdonald's restaurants - stand alone and co-branded, as Mcdonald's is known to be actively participating in co-branding with discount stores such as E-Mart. In order to measure customer loyalty, benchmark scores from customers showing extreme satisfaction are compared to the mean scores of total sample customers at each outlet. Meeting or exceeding benchmarking scores does not automatically bring in and create loyal customers but in doing so will certainly help build up strong customer relationship which will create additional loyalty. Marketers should be well aware that statistically significant difference do exist between these two groups of customers and should take into consideration these findings in opening up new outlets or renovating existing outlets.

XPDL(XML Process Definition Language)은 프로세스 정의 교환을 위하여 WfMC에서 제안한 XML 기반 언어이다. 본 논문에서는 워크플로우 프로세스의 정의와 교환을 위하여 XPDL 문서의 구조(Schema)를 UML 다이어그램으로 모델링하여 기업들 간의 상호연동과 협업을 위한 업무흐름 파악을 용이하게 하는 모델을 제안한다. 이를 위해 XPDL 문서를 UML의 클래스 다이어그램과 액티비티 다이어그램으로 변환하는 사상 규칙을 정의하여, XPDL 프로세스 메타모델(Meta-Model)를 구성하는 각 엘리먼트는 클래스 다이어그램으로 모델링하고, 프로세스 액티비티(Process Activity)는 액티비티 다이어그램으로 모델링하는 기법을 제안한다. 또한 제안된 기법을 "신용 카드 상태 체크 시스템"의 워크플로우에 대한 XPDL 문서을 적용하여 제안된 기법의 유효성을 검증한다.

This study was carried out to investigate a radio-frequency/vacuum (RF/V) drying ability and physical properties of the green boards and the pre-kiln dried boards with 40 mm thickness, and the 70 mm-thick green board of Iroko (Milicia excelsa). The major results were summarized as follows; The drying time from initial moisture content (MC) of 110% to approximate 6% MC for a 40mm-thick green board was 192 hours, and about 200 hours for the 70 mm-thick green board, respectively and so the RF/V drying times were dramatically shortened compared to conventional kiln drying time. The case hardenings at the RF/V drying completion stage test were very negligible, thus represented almost no existence of the residual stress. The checks were very slightly formed on all of the boards during the RF/V drying test, but crook appeared quite severely. During the accelerating test, the water-resistant treated specimens had not experienced any signs of checking occurred, whereas the control boards had encountered very frequent occurrences of end checking and slight surface checking. There were no observations of warping and discoloring regardless of the treatment.
