A Jeju local variety of Italian millet (Setaria italica Beauvois) was grown at five seeding rates (6, 9, 12, 15 and 15 kg/ha) from May 1 to August 25, 2003 at Jeju to determine influence of seeding rate on agronomic characters, forage yield and quality. Days to flowering increased from 89 to 96 days as seeding rate increased from 6 to 18 kg/ha. The plant height increased from 128 to 148cm as seeding rate was increased from 6 to 12 kg/ha and then decreased to 131cm at a rate of 18 kg/ha. With increasing seeding rate, stem diameter, number of leaves, number of nodes, leaf width and weight per plant decreased but leaf length had the same trend with plant height. As seeding rate increased from 6 to 12 kg/ha, fresh furage, dry matter, crude protein, and total digestible nutrients (TDN) yield increased from 35.93 to 54.83 MT/ha, 10.49 to 17.43 MT/ha, 0.94 to 1.79 MT/ha and 5.33 to 9.27 MT/ha, respectively, and then decreased with further increased seeding rates. Crude protein, either extract, nitrogen free extract, and TDN content increased 9.0 to 12.01%, 1.3 to 1.8%, 45.6 to 47.8% and 50.8 to 55.0%, respectively, but crude fiber content decreased 35.2 to 30.0% and crude ash declined 5.8 to 8.4% as seeding rate increased from f to 18 kg/ha. The optimum seeding rate to obtain the highest forage yield was estimated to be 12 kg/ha.

More than 74% of forage crops in Korea are cultivated in winter rice fields. Italian ryegrass (IRG) can be said to be a representative forage crop, but over 70% of its seeds are dependent on imports. In addition, there are concerns that the stable supply of research fees may be disrupted due to the effects of climate change, war, and other factors. Therefore, it is necessary to secure a large production area for stable supply. Korea's reclaimed land area is 135,000 ha and its agricultural area is 112,000 ha. Therefore, this study attempted to apply IRG to the domestic IRG seed industry through stable cultivation techniques on reclaimed land. In this study, IRG 'Kowiearly' varsity was cultivated in late October 2020 and early October 2021 in the Saemangeum reclaimed land. The seeding methods were conventional drill sowing seeding, new technology spot seedling (30 × 18 cm) and new technology drill sowing seeding. The amount of sowing was conventional drill sowing seeding 2.0(kg/10a), new technology spot seedling 1.5(kg/10a), and new technology drill sowing seeding 1.5(kg/10a). Fertilizer application amount is conventional drill sowing seeding(N-P2O5-K2O) 9.0-12-12(kg/10a), and new technology spot seedling and drill sowing seeding were(N-P2O5-K2O) 4.5-12-12(kg/10a) respectively. Fertilizer was applied accordingly. After that, in February, the conventional drill sowing seeding, new technology drill sowing seeding and spot seedling applied 4.0 and 2.2(kg/10a) of nitrogen supplement fertilizer, respectively. Before wintering, plant length was higher in 2022 than in 2021, but leaf number was higher in 2021. Heading time was April 30, 2021 and April 25, 2022. In heading time, plant length was 74 cm in 2021 and 67 cm in 2022, lower than in 2021. On the other hand, There was no difference in the number of panicle and the number of seeds in the 2021 harvester in all treatment plots, and, thus seed yield was no differ. However, the drill sowing seeding and spot seedling of the new technology were somewhat higher than the conventional drill sowing seeding. On the other hand, seed yield was decreased in all treatment plots compared to 2022 because of raifall deficiency in 2021.
Purpose: Peritoneal seeding of gastric cancer is known to have a poor prognosis. With the diagnosis of peritoneal seeding, there is no effective treatment modality. Gastrectomy with chemotherapy or primary chemotherapy is basically one of major options for this condition. This study was conducted to compare the clinical outcomes of these treatments and to identify the better way to improve the prognosis of patients with peritoneal seeding. Materials and Methods: Between 2001 and 2007, gastric cancer patients with peritoneal seeding by preoperative or intraoperative diagnosis were reviewed retrospectively. The enrolled patients were divided as primary gastrectomy and primary chemotherapy group. Clinicopathologic characteristics and clinical outcomes of groups were analyzed and compared. Results: Fifty-four patients were enrolled. 21 patients belonged to the group of primary gastrectomy and 33 patients were to the primary chemotherapy group. Among 33 patients of the primary chemotherapy group, 17 patients were received only chemotherapy and 16 patients were received gastrectomy due to the good responses of primary chemotherapy. The 3 years survival rates were 14% in primary gastrectomy group, 55% in patients who received gastrectomy after primary chemotherapy, and 0% in patients with primary chemotherapy only. Conclusions: Although this study had many limitations, some valuable information was produced. In terms of survival benefits for the gastric cancer patients with peritoneal seeding, primary gastrectomy and additional gastrectomy after primary chemotherapy revealed the better clinical outcomes. But, prospective randomized clinical study and multi-center study should be performed to decide proper treatment for gastric cancer patients with peritoneal seeding.

This research was initiated to investigate the revegetation characteristics under the seeding amount treatments of cool-season turfgrasses on the disturbed slope. 4 different seeding amounts of cool-season turfgrasses (0.0 $g/m^2$, 1.5 $g/m^2$, 3.0 $g/m^2$, 6.0 $g/m^2$) with the same seeding amounts of native woody (Rhus chinensis, Albizzia julibrissin) and herbaceous plants (Lotus corniculatus var. japonicus, Dianthus sinensis, Aster yomena) were treated with 3 replications on the experimental disturbed slope. Data such as soil hardness (mm), moisture content (%), surface coverage rate (%), the number of each germinating plant and plant height were analyzed. There were no statistic differences observed in the soil hardness and the soil moisture content while a significant difference was observed in the surface coverage rates. The surface coverage rates were higher in 3.0 $g/m^2$ and 6.0 $g/m^2$ plots compared to the rest two plots of cool-season turfgrasses. However, the emergence of native woody and herbaceous plants was relatively low in 3.0 $g/m^2$ and 6.0 $g/m^2$ plots of high seeding amounts of cool-season turfgrasses. This result indicated that high seeding amounts of cool-season turfgrasses could decrease the emergence of native woody and herbaceous plants. We concluded that 1.5 g~3.0 $g/m^2$ seeding amounts of cool-season turfgrasses was optimum level for the balanced emergence of cool-season turfgrasses, native woody and herbaceous plants in the viewpoint of the ecological disturbed slope revegetation.
To investigate the effect of partial tillage seeding of hairy vetch on green manure biomass and rice yield, on-farm experiment was conducted at eco-friendly hairy vetch cultivation area located in Yesan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do. Seeding methods of hairy vetch consisted of partial tillage seeding (PTS) and broadcasting before rice harvesting (BBRH). Hairy vetch was incorporated into soil on May 18 and rice seedling was transplanted on May 26. The growths of hairy vetch before overwintering were investigated on November 11. Plant height of BBRH plot was longer than that of PTS plot, but somewhat larger number of seedling stand was found in PTS. Biomass and N production of hairy vetch were investigated on May 18. Results of the investigation showed no difference between two seeding methods. Although the seeding time was 21 days late in PTS, the biomass of hairy vetch and rice yield were equivalent to those of BBRH seeding, so we conclude that PTS could improve overwintering survival of hairy vetch in rice cropping system.
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of using barley seeder attached to rice harvest combine that could be used in rice harvesting and barley seeding simultaneously on the growth characteristics of barley and labor-saving efficiency. In developed seeding system, burley seeding was earlier about 5 days than in the conventional system, because of conducting rice Harvesting and barley seeding simultaneously. The germination of barley seed after seeding was protected from drought damage by the rice straw covering. Among the growth characteristics of barley using developed seeding system, the number of spikes per m$^2$ was lower than that of conventional system, but others showed longer culm length, hove kernel numbers per spike and heavier 1,000 kernel weight than those of conventional system. Developed seeding system resulted in about 57% labor-saving efficiency compared with conventional system. The cost of whole works from seeding to harvest of barley was saved about 8% compared with conventional system. A total of income increased about 16% than that of conventional system.

In order to reduce the problems from overlapping between rye harvest and maize seeding dates, and also to improve the growth, productivity and nutritive value of rye (Secale cereale L.), an experiment was carried out to determine the variety effect of rye on the forage production system, and seeding date effect on the yield and quality of rye. The experiment was conducted in the forage testing field of S.N.U., Suweon, from September 1988 to May 1989. The dry matter and in vitro digestible dry matter yields of rye harvested 14 April were 5.2 t and 4.6 t/ha with an early maturing rye variety, Winter more, but 3.1 t and 2.8 t/ha were obtained with a late maturing rye variety, Kodiak. When seeding date was delayed, a significant decrease in dry matter yield was observed. ADF and NDF contents, and IVDMD of an early maturing rye, Winter more, harvested 14 April were 25.6, 44.8 and 81.9 %, but those of a late maturing rye, Kodiak, were 21.1, 39.5 and 88.9 %, respectively. ADF and NDF contents of rye were increased as the seeding date was delayed, but ail forage ryes from different seeding dates as well as varieties were recorded as the 1st grade proposed by market hay grades. The dry matter and in vitro digestible dry matter yields of rye harvested at 80 %heading stage were significantly decreased as delayed seeding date, but no significant differences were found between early and late maturing varieties. No differences in ADF and NDF contents, and IVDMD of the rye harvested at 80% heading stage were found among the treatments, but all forage ryes were evaluated as the 4 th grade proposed by market hay grades.

The objective of this study is to obtain the basic data for investigating the effects of organic reserves on winter survival or regrowth yield. Forage rape (Brassica napus L.) was sown by three seeding densities of 5, 15 and 25cm interval among plants on Sep. 1, 1994. Field-grown plants were sampled on the before wintering (Dec. 4) and on the wintering period (Jan. 16) to analyze the nitrogen and non-structural cahohydrate reserves. The rate of winter survival and regrowth yield were also measured in the spring of next year. The dry matter yields from the plots of 5, 15 and 25cm seeding interval were 1,270, 1.01 9 and 1,062 kg/lOa respectively, on the before wintering. The similar pattern wa5 observed in the crude protein yields affected by seeding density. On the before wintering, both of nitrogen and starch contents per plant significantly increased as the seeding density was lowered. Starch content was relatively higher than that of nitrogen in all plots. On the wintering period, the contents of nitrogen reserves were 6.5, 41.2 and 121.7 mglplant, those of starch reserves were 1.0, 5.4 and 185.1 mg/plant, respectively, in the plots of 5, 15 and 25cm seeding interval. Nitrogen reserves on the wintering period increased while starch reserves highly decreased in all plots comparing to the before wintering. 'lhe rates of winter survival were 10.2, 20.6 and 37.1%, and regrowth yields were 76, 96 and 178 kgD.M/ IOa, respectively, in the plots of 5, 15 and 25cm seeding interval. These results cleariy showed that seeding density have a close influence on the level of nitrogen and non-structurd cahohydrate reserves, and that the rate of winter survival and regrowth yield were controlled by reserves level on the wintering period.
Purpose: The prognosis for gastric cancer with peritoneal seeding is very poor, and the role of surgical intervention is limited. We evaluated the effect of radical removal of primary and metastatic lesions on survival in gastric cancer with peritoneal seeding. Materials and Methods: From May 1989 to March 1999 at Kosin University Gospel Hospital, 115 patients revealed gastric cancer with peritoneal seeding but without liver or lung metastasis and without follow-up loss. The study group included 86 patients who underwent surgery for radical removal of primary gastric and metastatic peritoneal lesions. The control group included 29 patients who experienced incomplete removal of primary or metastatic lesions. Both groups received intraoperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy using mytomycin or cisplatin, and 25 patients underwent postoperative intravenous chemotherapy. Results: The median survival times in the study and the control groups were 13 months and 4 months, respectively (p<0.0001). The 1-year, 2-year, and 5-year survival rates were, respectively, $50.6\%,\;18.1\%$, and $11.3\%$ in the study group and $14.8\%,\;3.7\%$ and $0\%$ in the control group (p<0.0001). In the study group, neither postoperative intravenous chemotherapy nor microscopic invasion of the resection margin had any effect on survival, but intraoperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy and degree of peri-toneal seeding, especially the amount of peritoneal seeding, had an effect on survival. In the control group, neither intraperitoneal nor intravenous chemotherapy had any effect on survival, but resection of the primary gastric lesion improved survival. Conclusion: Radical removal of primary gastric and metastatic peritoneal lesions improved the survival rate for gastric cancer with peritoneal seeding. However, a randomized prospective study is needed to correctly evaluate the effect of intraperitoneal or intravenous chemotherapy.
