Evaluation of Water Quality Change by Membrane Damage to Pretreatment Process on SDI in Wastewater Reuse (하수재이용에서 전처리 막 손상에 의한 수질변화가 SDI에 미치는 영향평가)

  • This study suggests a guideline for designing unit process of wastewater reuse in terms of a maintenance of the process based on critical parameters to draw a high quality performance of RO unit. Defining the parameters was done by applying membrane integrity test (MIT) in pretreatment process utilizing lab-scale MF. SDI is utilized for judging whether permeate is suitable to RO unit. However, result said TOC concentration matching with particle count analysis is better for judging the permeate condition. When membrane test pressure (Ptest) was measured to derive log removal value in PDT, virgin state of membrane fiber was used to measure dynamic contact angle utilizing surface tension of the membrane fiber. Actually, foulant affects to the state of membrane surface, and it decreases the Ptest value along with time elapsed. Consequently, LRVDIT is also affected by Ptest value. Thus, sensitivity of direct integrity test descends with result of Ptest value change, so Ptest value should be considered not the virgin state of the membrane but its current state. Overall, this study focuses on defining design parameters suitable to MF pretreatment for RO process in wastewater reuse by assessing its impact. Therefore, utilities can acknowledge that the membrane surface condition must be considered when users conduct the direct integrity test so that Ptest and other relative parameter used to calculate LRVDIT are adequately measured.

Synthesis and Properties of Carbon Nanotube Paste with Different Inorganic Binders for Field Emission Display

  • CNT pastes with different inorganic binder such as glass frit and spin on glass (SOG) were synthesized by using multi-walled nanotube (MWNT) grown by CVD. The uniformity of cathode layer after firing was enhanced and the emission current density at an applied field of 7.95V/${\mu}m$ increased from 133${\mu}A$/$cm^2$ to 265${\mu}A$/$cm^2$ when inorganic binder changed from glass frit to SOG. The emission properties of CNT pastes with SOG were stable and uniform although firing was carried out at relatively high temperature of 450$^{\circ}C$ under air. It is concluded that SOG is more suitable inorganic binder than glass frit for field emission application.

  • Rapidly changing business environment demands proactive management strategies. Display technology market in 21st century of digital economy era is not in exception. Samsung SDI is a manufacturing company which has been producing display related products. This case study investigates how Samsung SDI has been transforming itself from traditional manufacturing firm into a strong net-enabled company. There are several critical success factors to implement e-business systems. First of all, top management has been firmly supporting digital management concept. As the enabling tools, change management and knowledge management activities have been actively executed. In addition, various educational programs were provided to enhance employees' management innovation capabilities. Samsung SDI's efforts resulted in improving process efficiency as well as customer satisfaction, and finally in outstanding financial performance.

Analysis of peak drought severity time and period using meteorological and hydrological drought indices (기상학적 가뭄지수와 수문학적 가뭄지수를 이용한 첨두가뭄심도 발생시점 및 가뭄기간 분석)

  • This study analyzed the peak time of drought severity and drought period using meteorological and hydrological drought indices. Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) using rainfall data was used for meteorological drought and Streamflow Drought Index (SDI) and Standardized Streamflow Index (SSI) using streamflow data were used for the hydrological drought. This study was applied to the Cheongmicheon watershed which is a mixture area for rural and urban regions. The rainfall data period used in this study is 32.5 years (January of 1985~June of 2017) and the corresponding streamflow was simulated using SWAT. After the drought indices were calculated using the collected data, the characteristics of drought were analyzed by time series distribution of the calculated drought indices. Based on the results of the this study, it can be seen that hydrological drought occurs after meteorological drought. The difference between SDI and SPI peak occurrence time, difference in drought start date and average drought duration is greater than SSI and SPI. In general, SSI shows more severe than SDI. Therefore, various drought indices should be used at the identification of drought characteristics.

Self-organized gradient hole injection to improve the performance of organic light-emitting diodes

  • We demonstrate a new approach to form gradient hole injection layer (HIL) in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). Single spincoating of hole-injecting conducting polymer compositions with a perfluorinated ionomer results in gradient workfunction through the layer by self-organization, which lead to remarkably efficient single layer polymer light-emitting diodes (PLEDs) (${\sim}21$ cd/A). The device lifetime was significantly improved (${\sim50$ times) compared with the conventional hole injection layer, poly(3,4-ethylenedioxy-thiophene)/polystyrene sulfonate. This solution processed HIL also produced dramatically enhanced luminous efficiency (${\sim}34$ cd/A) in vacuum- deposited green fluorescent OLEDs while the vacuum deposited HIL gave the luminous efficiency of ${\sim}23$ cd/A in the same device structure.

  • 연료전지로부터의 낮고 변동폭이 큰 전압을 안정되게 승압시키기 위하여 부스트 컨버터가 사용되고 있으며 전기적인 절연이 요구되지 않는 응용에서는 손실, 가격 및 부피 상승의 원인이 되는 고주파변압기가 없는 무변압기형의 부스트 컨버터가 장점을 갖는다. 본 논문에서는 $6{\sim}8$배의 실제 사용 가능한 승압비를 가지며 입출력 전류리플이 매우 작은 새로운 무변압기형 부스트 컨버터를 제안하고 모의실험을 통하여 그 타당성을 검증한다.
