Satellite-derived flow 시그널 및 인공신경망 모형을 활용한 임진강 유역 유출량 산정 (Estimation of river discharge using satellite-derived flow signals and artificial neural network model: application to imjin river)

  • 본 연구에서는 임진강 상류유역과 같이 수리수문학적 분석에 필요한 측정데이터가 존재하지 않거나 혹은 데이터의 확보가 어려운 유역에 대하여 위성 데이터와 데이터 기반 모형을 활용하여 유출량을 산정하였다. SDF 시그널(Satellite-derived Flow Signal)은 하도내의 유량변화에 따른 하천 폭의 변화를 반영할 수 있다고 알려져 있으며, 그 상관관계는 하도단면의 형태와 밀접한 관계가 있다. SDF 시그널 데이터와 유출량 간의 비선형 상관관계를 반영할 수 있는 인공신경망 모형을 활용하여, 모형의 입력변수인 SDF 시그널 데이터로부터 임진강의 임진교 지점에서의 유출량을 추정하였다. 15개의 위성 이미지 픽셀의 SDF 시그널 값이 0~10일의 lag가 되어 활용되었으며, lag된 데이터를 포함하여 총 150개의 변수 중 유출량과 가장 큰 관계가 있는 변수 선정을 위해 PMI(Partial Mutual Information) 기법이 활용되었다. 인공신경망 모형을 통해 산정된 유출량은 임진교에서 측정된 지점 유출량과 비교 분석되었으며, 학습(training)과 검증(validation)을 통한 상관계수는 각각 0.86, 0.72로 좋은 결과를 보여주었다. 추가적으로 SDF 시그널 데이터 외에 임진교의 1일 전 측정유량이 인공신경망 입력변수로 추가되었을 때 상관계수가 0.90, 0.83으로 증가함을 보였다. 결과로부터 계측수문자료가 부족하거나 접근 불가능한 유역에 대하여 하천 유량 변화에 대한 추정치인 SDF 시그널 데이터와 지상 데이터가 결합되었을 때 신뢰성 높은 유역의 유출량을 산정할 수 있으며, 큰 유량이 발생하는 홍수사상에 대해서도 첨두 유량과 첨두 발생시간을 잘 모의할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 향후 위성 데이터와 지점 데이터를 활용하여 미계측 유역의 홍수발생에 대하여 높은 정확도로 예측 가능할 것으로 기대한다.

Expression of SDF-$1{\alpha}$ and leptin, and their effect on expression of angiogenic factors in mouse ovaries

  • Objective: Ovarian angiogenesis plays an important role in folliculogenesis. However, little is known about the expression of angiogenic factors during follicular development according to female age. Stromal cell derived factor-$1{\alpha}$ (SDF-$1{\alpha}$) plays a role in granulosa cell survival and embryo quality as an angiogenic chemokine. Leptin is also involved in folliculogenesis and angiogenesis. This study examined expression of SDF-$1{\alpha}$ and leptin, and their effects on the expression of angiogenic factors in the ovary during follicular development according to female age. Methods: Ovaries were collected from C57BL mice of two age groups (6-9 weeks and 24-26 weeks) at 6, 12, 24, and 48 hours after 5 IU pregnant mare's serum gonadotropin (PMSG) injection. The expression of ovarian SDF-$1{\alpha}$ and leptin mRNA was evaluated by RT-PCR. In the organ culture experiment, the ovaries were cultured in transwell permeable supports with Waymouth's medium treated with various doses of SDF-$1{\alpha}$(50-200 ng/mL) or leptin (0.01-1 ${\mu}g$/mL) for 7 days. Then, mRNA expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS), and visfatin were examined in the cultured ovaries. Results: Expression of SDF-$1{\alpha}$ and leptin in the ovary was significantly lower in the aged mouse group compared to the young mouse group ($p$ <0.05). Expression of these two factors increased with follicular development after PMSG administration. SDF-$1{\alpha}$ treatment stimulated visfatin expression in a dose-dependent manner, while leptin treatment significantly increased eNOS expression. Conclusion: These results suggest that decrease of ovarian SDF-$1{\alpha}$ and leptin expression may be associated with aging-related reduction of ovarian function. SDF-$1{\alpha}$ and leptin may play a role in follicular development by regulating the expression of angiogenic factors in mouse ovaries.

Phosphoric Acid-doped SDF-F/poly(VI-co-MPS)/PTFE Membrane for a High Temperature Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell

  • Sulfonated poly(fluorinated arylene ether)s (SDF-F)/poly[(N-vinylimidazole)-co-(3-methacryloxypropyl-trimethoxysilane)] (poly(VI-co-MPS))/poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (PTFE) is prepared for a high temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). The reaction of the membrane with phosphoric acid forms silicate phosphor, as a chemically bound proton carrier, in the membrane. Thus-formed silicate phosphor, nitrogen in the imidazole ring, and physically bound phosphoric acid act as proton carriers in the membrane. The physico-chemical and electrochemical properties of the membrane are investigated by various analytical tools. The phosphoric acid uptake and proton conductivity of the SDF-F/poly(VI-co-MPS)/PTFE membrane are higher than those of SDF-F/PVI/PTFE. The power densities of cells with SDF-F/poly(VI-co-MPS)/PTFE membranes at 0.6 V are 286, 302, and 320 mW $cm^{-2}$ at 150, 170, and 190 $^{\circ}C$, respectively. Overall, the SDFF/poly(VI-co-MPS)/PTFE membrane is one of the candidates for anhydrous HT-PEMFCs with enhanced mechanical strength and improved cell performance.

메밀 발아 중 식이섬유 함량과 조성의 변화 (Changes in Contents and Composition of Dietary Fiber during Buckwheat Germination)

  • To provide the efficient application scheme of buckwheat dietary fiber and basic information of seed germination, buckwheat(Fagopyrum esculentum Moench) was germinated at 10$^{\circ}C$ for 7 days and the contents and composition of the total dietary fiber(TDF), insoluble dietary fiber(IDF), soluble dietary fiber(SDF) wire examined at 24 hour intervals. The TDF content in ungerminated seeds was 24.86o on dry weight basis. It decreased for the 1st day of germination, but gradually increased for 7 days afterwords. The contents of IDF and SDF in ungerminated seeds were 22.05, 1.42% respectively. The IDF and SDF contents decreased in the initial stage of germination, but then gradually increased. The composition of the IDF and SDF in the TDF during the germination period showed different tendencies. The IDF decreased with germination time until 5 days and then increased. The SDV increased until 5 days and then decreased gradually. The TDF contents obtained by AOAC method were generally higher than those obtained by Prosky method. The TDF contents obtained by the two method, however, were very closely correlated (r=0.9966, p< 0.01) The IDF(X1) and SDF(X2) showed the significant regression equation(p<0.01) with the root length(Y). The equation was Y: -12.6681+0.5089${\times}$ 1 $\div$ 0.6022Xa and R2 was 0.968.

Sperm DNA fragmentation in consecutive ejaculates from patients with cancer for sperm cryopreservation

  • Objective: This prospective consecutive study investigated the variation in sperm DNA fragmentation (SDF) in multiple semen samples from patients with cancer. Methods: Eighty-one patients with various cancers underwent multiple semen collections on 3 consecutive days for sperm cryopreservation prior to cancer treatment. A commercial Halosperm kit was used to measure SDF. Within- and between-subject coefficients of variation were estimated via random-effects analysis of variance to assess the consistency of semen parameters and SDF. Intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs) were calculated to assess the magnitude of the between-subject component of variance relative to the total variance. Results: The volume of semen in the day-2 and day-3 samples was significantly lower compared with the day-1 sample. Most parameters showed high ICC values, suggesting that within-subject fluctuations were small relative to the between-subject variability. The highest ICC values were identified for the SDF (ICC, 0.68; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.45-0.84) and semen volume (ICC, 0.67; 95% CI, 0.45-0.84). Conclusion: Our findings showed that repeated ejaculates from patients with cancer had stable SDF levels.

Silver Diamine Fluoride Compound for Dental Caries and Its Characterisation Using Microscopic Computed Tomography and Nanoindentation

  • Background: In our study, a silver diamine fluoride (SDF) compound for the treatment of dental caries was synthesized to characterize its remineralization activity upon direct application to deciduous teeth. This study aimed to use microscopic computed tomography (microCT) and nanoindentation to evaluate whether SDF composite application could effectively arrest dental caries in five exfoliated primary molars. Methods: Carious teeth were extracted and visually examined using quantitative photofluorescence devices (Qraycam and QraypenTM). After performing microCT, the SDF composite was applied to the teeth according to the manufacturer's instructions. The researchers exchanged and precipitated the irritant saliva once daily for 1 week. The teeth were sectioned longitudinally through the centers of the mesial and distal surfaces, embedded, polished, and measured using nanoindentation. Thereafter, microCT was repeated. Statistical analyses were performed using GraphPad Prism software. Results: Following SDF composite application, a remineralized layer was observed on microCT images, and the hardness increased when measured using nanoindentation. We found that demineralized enamel presented with an increased number of irregular crystals in the deep carious lesion group compared with those in the shallow carious lesion group, resulting in a rougher surface. Conclusion: The SDF composite may be used for remineralization of early caries and cessation of advanced caries in primary molars.

NRF-SDF를 이용한 나무로부터의 한글 문자 인식 (Korean Alphabet Recognition with Tree using NRF-SDF)

  • For the efficient recognition of Korean Alphabets, a tree structure discrimination algorithm employing NRF-SDF concept is proposed. This algorithm consists of several main-steps, which contain several sub-steps. Each step contains vowels or consonants for training image. This algorithm reduces processing and recognition time than any other conventional algorithms for recognition of Korean Alphabets. A simulation results indicated that this algorithm has a satisfactory performance.

  • 단말기 페이징이란 특정한 이동 단말장치의 정확한 위치를 결정하는 과정을 말한다. 페이징 비용은 단말기를 찾기 위한 페이징 사이클의 수와 검색되는 셀의 수에 비례한다.본 논문에서는 이러한 페이징 비용을 감소시키기 위하여, 실생활에서 단말기 사용자의 이동 패턴이 일정하다는 가정 하에 Shortest-Distance-First 방식에 단말기 사용자의 이동경로 이력 리스트를 부가한 이동경로 기반의 페이징 기법을 제안하고 폴링 사이클의 수와 폴링 시그널의 수 관점에서 시뮬레이션을 통해 기존 SDF 단말기 페이징 기법과 성능을 비교 분석한다. 시뮬레이션 결과를 통하여 제안된 방식이 폴링 사이클과 폴링 시그널의 수를 감소시킴을 보여준다

  • A method of adaptive formation of the synthetic discriminant function(SDF) both in image plane and spatial frequency plane by using the Widrow-Hoff learning rule is proposed. The proposed method uses minimum number of interconnections between neurons so it can reduce the time for learning the neural net. Also complex valued interconnection weights are introduced for the purposes of handling the phase objects or Fourier transformed spatial frequency objects which usually have complex values for the representation of not only amplitude but also phase information. Also methods of optical implementation for the complex valued interconnection weights are discussed.

효율적인 폴리곤 곡면 재건 알고리즘 (An Efficient Polygonal Surface Reconstruction)

  • We describe a efficient surface reconstruction method that reconstructs a 3D manifold polygonal mesh approximately passing through a set of 3D oriented points. Our algorithm includes 3D convex hull, octree data structure, signed distance function (SDF), and marching cubes. The 3D convex hull provides us with a fast computation of SDF, octree structure allows us to compute a minimal distance for SDF, and marching cubes lead to iso-surface generation with SDF. Our approach gives us flexibility in the choice of the resolution of the reconstructed surface, and it also enables to use on low-level PCs with minimal peak memory usage. Experimenting with publicly available scan data shows that we can reconstruct a polygonal mesh from point cloud of sizes varying from 10,000 ~ 1,000,000 in about 1~60 seconds.
