  • The aim of this paper is to study the mechanical behaviors of the cold-formed thin-walled steel and reinforced concrete sandwich composite slab (CTS&RC-SCS) under vertical loads and to develop the calculation methods of its flexural bearing capacity and section stiffness. Two CTS&RC-SCS specimens were designed and manufactured to carry out the static loading test, and meanwhile, the numerical simulation analyses based on finite element method were implemented. The comparison between experimental results and numerical analysis results shows that the CTS&RC-SCS has good flexural capacity and ductility, and the accuracy and rationality of the numerical simulation analysis are verified. Further, the variable parameter analysis results indicate that neither increasing the concrete strength grade nor increasing the thickness of C-sections can significantly improve the flexural capacity of CTS&RC-SCS. With the increase of the ratio of longitudinal bars and the thickness of the composite slab, the flexural capacity of CTS&RC-SCS will be significantly increased. On the basis of experimental research and numerical analysis above, the calculation formula of the flexural capacity of CTS&RC-SCS was deduced according to the plastic section design theory, and section stiffness calculation formula was proposed according to the theory of transformed section. In terms of the ultimate flexural capacity and mid-span deflection, the calculated values based on the formulas and the experimental values are in good agreement.

  • It is necessary to estimate the groundwater recharge rate properly to evaluate the reasonable development amount of groundwater in a specific site. A small basin in Wicheon River Basin located in the Province of Kyungsangbuk-Do is selected to calculate the groundwater recharge rate. Average annual groundwater recharge rates are calculated from 1992 to 1997 because wet and draught year are contained during this period. In the calculation, baseflow separation method and SCS-CN method are applied to this area. As a result of estimation by baseflow separation method, the value of groundwater recharge ratio is varied between 11.9% and 18.7%. The average annual recharge rate is 14.5%. The average annual recharge rate calculated by SCS-CN method is varied between 7.9% and 20.9%. The average annual recharge rate in the calculation period is 15.1%. The results show that the average annual recharge amount from infiltration in the study basin is 141.6mm and 147.4mm in each estimation method. It appears that the average annual recharge amount calculated for the long period containing wet and draught year by the two methods is useful for groundwater development.

  • Has been being operated since 1974, recently, the flood forecasting and warning system is applied in almost all the rivers in Korea, and the Storage Function Method(SFM) is used for flood routing. The SFM which was presented by Toshimitsu Kimura(1961) routes floods in channels and basins with the storage function as the basic equation. A watershed is devided into two zone, runoff and percolation area and Runoff is occured when cumulated rainfall is not exceed saturation rainfall, but exceed, runoff is occured from percolation area, too. Runoff area is given and not changed, runoff ratio is constant. In routing process, runoff from runoff and percolation area is routed seperately with nonlinear cenceptual reservior having same characteristics and it is unreasonable assumption. Modified SFM is proposed with storage function and continuity Equation which has no assumption for routing process and effective rainfall is calculated by SCS Method. For Wi Stream, comparision of Kimura and Modified SFM is conducted and It could be seen that Modified SFM is more improvemental and easily applicable method.

  • The purpose of this study is both the variation of hydrologic topographical informations extracted by using WMS and the quantitative effect of rainfalll-runoff simulation due to dividing watershed. Miho stream basin in Geum river was selected by this study. Watershed dividing method are determined by area, channel slope and channel length. Hydrological response of divided watershed using Clark method, SCS method and Snyder method was compared with actual measured flood hydrograph. As a results, area-based watershed dividing method are particularly suitable the hydrologic applications using SCS method. This study can be used as basic data for the phase of the runoff variation in Miho stream basin.

  • Even though the runoff volume is very sensitive to the antecedent soil moisture condition (AMC), the general rainfall-runoff analysis in Korea has accepted, without careful consideration of its applicability, the AMC classification of the Soil Conservation Service (SCS, 1972). In this study, by following the development procedure of SCS Curve Number (CN), the rainfall-runoff characteristics of the Jangpyung subbasin of the Pyungchang River Basin were analyzed to estimate the CN and evaluate the AMC classification of currently being used. As results, CN(I), CN(II), and CN(III) were estimated to be 72.1, 79.3, and 76.7, respectively. Among them CN(II) was found to be similar to the other reports but the other two were totally different from those of theoretically estimated. However, it is difficult to evaluate the AMC with CN, rather the frequency of each AMC could be a better indicator for its validity. This study developed the histogram of AMC and compared the frequency of each AMC. hs results we found that the criterion for AMC-III should be increased, Hut that for AMC-I decreased.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest methods for the community design through users' behavior study in apartment housing. This study was approached by using both theoretical investigation and empirical research. The theoretical investigation actualized the concept of community design in apartment housing through a literature survey. The empirical survey focused on seeking out a user-oriented design criteria based on the analysis of residents' usage behavior and mental map. The results of this study are as follow: First. regarding the analysis of the residents' attitude toward the share community space(SCS), it was found that the SCS made a sense as community facilities in apartment housing. Second, regarding the SCS through the metal map, it was shown that the sketch map analysis was a useful research method for the community design by actualizing the residents' behavior characteristics. Third. as to the results of analyzing the metal map, it was found that the considered characteristics in recognition of the SCS were related to the liking with the main paths, cross nodes of the moving line, the location of center. and the complexity. In conclusion, the SCS is the main of community design in apartment housing and the above characteristics in recognition are useful as the guidelines in the SCS planning.

  • It is necessary to estimate the groundwater recharge rate properly to predict the demand of groundwater and to establish the plan for the development of groundwater in the future. In this paper, A small basin in Chojung area is selected to calculate the groundwater recharge rate. In the calculation, water balance analysis, SCS-CN (Soil Conservation Service-Curve Number) method. groundwater-level analysis and hydrograph of outflow analysis are applied to this area. Data of precipitation measured by Chungju climatological station for about 10 years are used for water balance analysis and SCS-CN method. For the groundwater-level analysis. variations of groundwater-level measured from the 3 test wells in 1997's are used and stage-discharge rating curves in this area for 3 years are used for the hydrograph of outflow. The recharge rate calculated by water balance is 19%, 12.95% by SCS-CN method. 16.51% by groundwater-level analysis and 10.9% by hydrograph of outflow analysis and the overall average recharge rate is about 14.84%.

  • Now days, heavy storm occur to be continue. It is hard to use before frequency based on flood discharge for decision that design water pocket structure. We need to estimation of frequency based on flood discharge on the important basin likely city or basin that damage caused by flood recurrence. In this paper flood discharge calculated by Clark watershed method and SCS synthetic unit hydrograph method about upside during each minute of among time distribution method of rainfall, Huff method choosing Bocheong Stream basin that is representative basin of International Hydrologic Project (IHP) about time distribution of rainfall that exert big effect at flood discharge estimate to research target basin because of and the result is as following. Relation between probability flood discharge that is calculated through frequency analysis about flood discharge data and rainfall - runoff that is calculated through outward flow model was assumed about $48.1{\sim}95.9%$ in the case of $55.8{\sim}104.0%$, SCS synthetic unit hydrograph method in case of Clark watershed method, and Clark watershed method has big value overly in case of than SCS synthetic unit hydrograph method in case of basin that see, but branch of except appeared little more similarly with frequency flood discharge that calculate using survey data. In the case of Critical duration, could know that change is big area of basin is decrescent. When decide time distribution type of rainfall, apply upside during most Huff 1-ST because heavy rain phenomenon of upsides appears by the most things during result 1-ST about observation recording of target area about Huff method to be method to use most in business, but maximum value of peak flood discharge appeared on Huff 3-RD too in the case of upside, SCS synthetic unit hydrograph method during Huff 3-RD incidental of this research and case of Clark watershed method. That is, in the case of Huff method, latitude is decide that it is decision method of reasonable design floods that calculate applying during all $1-ST{\sim}4-TH$.

  • For the simulation of flow phenomenon that calculate basin outflow, it is required to estimate effective precipitation which contributes to direct runoff. This paper is focused on using detailed soil map which is one of the data required to estimate effective precipitation by SCS CN method. Korean detailed soil map must be reclassified as SCS hydrologic soil group when it is applied to SCS CN method. In this study, Korean detailed soil maps which are reclassified as SCS hydrologic soil group by the methods of Her and Jung (1987) and Jung et al. (1995) are applied to flow simulation and the results are analyzed. The study sites are Wichon watershed and Pyungchang river basin which are studied by International Hydrological Program(IHP). HEC-1 and WMS v6.1 are used to simulate flow phenomenon and calculate geographic parameters. The difference of flow analysis results from each soil reclassification method is different from each sites. But the results of flow analysis approximate observed data by using Jung et al. (1995) method more than Her and Jung (1987) method.
